My body insists on back sleeping. I've tried to stack pillows behind me, between my legs, etc. Last night, I busted out my snoogle from my first pregnancy. Each time I woke up to pee (4 times) I was sprawled out on my back.

This was the same with my first pregnancy, but it's still frustrating I can't control it.

    Anyone else?
Yes! Everytime I wake up, I'm on my back. I usually sleep on my stomach so with that not being an option, I'm constantly switching from one side to the other and every time I wake up to switch sides, I'm on my back. Sometimes I can feel the weight of my growing belly but for the most part, it still feels pretty normal. I don't think we're too much at risk until we're really big but I'm still trying to get in the habit. It's hard!

  • @F47 Either my back, or RIGHT side. My body rebels as I sleep I guess.
I'm about to go eat a ton of the cookies I baked yesterday for breakfast, DGAF!

@AllyTheKid you get those cookies. I'm stuck in traffic and wishing I could somehow eat my frozen Lean Cuisine pizza.

  • @F47 turn on your heater, and put the pizza over the vents ;)
  • I don't think we have a weekly symptoms thread anymore so I'm putting this here.
Is anyone else experiencing anxiety but in weird, hyper-focused ways? Lately, I've been so overly worried, to the point of tears, about my husbands health. His father died of a heart attack when he was 53 and DH is 36. Granted, his father was a heavy drinker, smoker, and couch potatoe and H is none of those things. He's already on meds for high BP and the last time he went to the doctor, which was November, he had extremely high cholesterol. The doc wanted him to change his diet and do more cardio (he's a gym rat but just lifts weights and occasionally walks on the treadmill) and come back in a few months to have it re-checked. Despite my nagging, he cancled the january appt because he "had to work" and only recently started to make better choices with his diet. He has lost about 15 lbs which I'm happy about but he needs to get blood work done again and see where his cholesterol is and if intervention is necessary. I finally got so frustrated that I called and made him an appt but the earliest they could get him in is next week and for some reason, hormones I guess (?) I've been a mess about it. We were watching a movie last night and I couldn't even lay my head on his chest like I normally do because I thought his heart rate was too high and it was making me upset.

I've had problems with high anxiety in the past and it isn't abnormal for my anxiety to focus on one thing and run with it. A few years ago, I was convinced I felt a lump in my breast and despite having multiple doctors and an ultrasound tell me everything was normal, I was convinced and wouldn't let it go until one day when the anxiety subsided.

Do you guys think I'm just a hormonal pregnant lady and it's normal or is this something I should bring up with my doctor? I mean, I don't think it's bad enough to risk meds while pregnant but I'm just not sure if this is my brain tricking me into thinking there's a crisis or if my H's health really is something I should be this worried about.

hmmm should I make nachos or pizza? Trying to decide whicih is less work... or which I feel more like eating... choices, choices...

    Steps involved -
nachos - shred and make nacho cheese. Make chips out of tortillas I already cut and have in the fridge.
Pizza- Make sauce, shred cheese, Top on premade dough - stovetop cook

  • @Blonde1817 Yeah, I think it's a mix of being justifiably concerned given H's family history and his own medical history and proven lack of concern and my hormones making me much more upset about it than I would be under normal circumstances. It's not impairing my ability to function day to day but it is something that is constantly on my mind and if I let myself focus on it, I will get increasingly upset. He has an appt next tuesday so I'm just going to sit tight and see how it goes and if this issue continues, I'll bring it up to my OB at my next appt in 2 weeks and see if I can get a referral or something. Thanks for the response! It's so hard to determine what is normal and what is just a pregnancy symptom!

  • @MRSCORKER definitely bring it up to your doctor. I truely believe having that conversation early is worth it even if you never have to talk about it being a problem vs trying to do it if you end up with it becoming a huge issue. Also counseling can be a huge advantage even if you don't feel like you need a therapist. My midwife actually advises everyone to find a counselor even if you only end up there for one visit so you have someone you can call and have a relationship with if you need to. It totally just could be the realization of life changing and how precious life is that is throwing your hormones off.

Yeah, it just feels like there is too much at stake now to not take this seriously. I have a therapist who I haven't seen in a while but her specialization in body image, eating disorders, etc. She was really helpful during my weight loss journey but I might see if my OB can recommend anyone with pregnancy/PP anxiety experience. Hormones are crazy, asshol ninjas!

  • @MRSCORKER - Yes, I'm having bad anxiety. But mine has been focused that something's wrong with the baby - specifically that when I go for my appointment next week they're not going to be able to find a heart beat. I'm having virtually no symptoms that there's a baby in there except a slightly larger abdomen, but on the flip side I've had no concerning symptoms either. It's seriously stressing me out. I'm 16+3.

I know a lot of research is needed for baby gear...but I haven't even started thinking about it. Maybe once we learn the gender at the end of the month I'll be more inclined to start that.

@Mrscorker and @morganL925, I'm stuck in the box, sorry...... A few weeks after I first found out I was pregnant, I was debating a doppler.  I thought I'd go crazy with it; and if I didn't find the heartbeat I would panic and it would send me into a tailspin.  So far it's been a God-send.  Every time I feel really anxious, I just pull it out, listen for 10 seconds, and I feel immediately better.  All the bad thoughts stop.

I will say the FIRST 2-3 times I used it, I was really nervous.  "What if there's no heartbeat?" "Where's the baby?"  Those thoughts ran through my mind a lot... and I recall the first time I used the doppler, my heart was racing. It isn't the case anymore now.  It's more routine than anything, and it's just really been a huge help with the anxiety.  Don't know if that would help in your case.  I know it's different for everybody, but just thought I'd share what helps me.
  • I had a HORRIBLE day at work yesterday and normally I leave everything at work and go home happy but I still can't shake this tension and anxiety. I left my coworkers tons of notes about two very difficult situations that occurred and said they can call me if they have questions. I'm not sure which I'm more afraid of, getting called or not getting called.

  • I had a horrible nightmare last night...the kind where you wake up in a cold sweat with your heart beating fast. You know the kind.

    The subject of the nightmare?

I dreamed that that I walked into Kroger and, instead of going to the right towards the produce section first, like I normally do, I went to the left. It threw off my shopping routine so badly that I wandered around for two hours with a fussy baby.

Yes, really. That was my nightmare.  :D
  • @agogo1 that dress is beautiful!  doesn't look too bridal to me because of the print.  Question:  what are the wedding colors?
  • LGW2015LGW2015 member
@coffee89 have you tried tums? They're safe to take and good for you bc of the calcium!

    @agogo1 love that dress!!

  • Question for you ladies... I'm going out to a very nice restaurant for our anniversary tonight.  They have seared ahi tuna on the menu, which I love.  It's cooked on the outside but rare on the inside.  My understanding is that bacteria tends to be on the outside and the outside will be cooked.  Is it okay to eat?  I'm getting pretty tired of watching my husband eat steak...

@annabenanna I'm not 100% sure but the invites have brown font and some leaves in various shades of green on cream card stock so I'm guessing those colors? I just don't want anyone to think for a second that I look bridey at all. Someone's date wore a white lace dress to my wedding and I didn't freak out or anything, but it definitely rubbed me the wrong way so I'm pretty paranoid about doing anything even slightly similar. Also, I'd wear some sort of flat sandal so I think I'd avoid looking too formal, right? It's a 6 pm wedding so I would assume dressier than not but it's in Florida so I think most people will wear shorter dresses because of the heat? And the invite says summer cocktail attire requested, not black tie.

    ...I am probably overthinking this.
    BabyFruit Ticker
  • @agogo1 I think the dress is perfectly fine!  The solid colors on top with the print is what will make it non-bridal at all, and instead look like a sun dress/formal dress hybrid!
  • @Blonde1817 seared ahi you get in restaurants is cooked JUST to cook the outside and keep the inside rare and raw. From what I understand though, it's not just the bacteria that is the issue, but the mercury content. Ahi is on the higher side when it comes to mercury content.

Unfortunately it's one of those things that is a judgement call. I eat medium rare steak from reputable places and I've had a bite of ahi during pregnancy too. It's a personal choice!

  • What @Julia70286 said! :)  It's more about the mercury than the bacteria... tuna, tilefish, marlin, shark, swordfish... those are the fish I avoid because of mercury.  I do allow myself tuna sushi once in a while (like once a month).  I haven't stopped eating sushi, but go for salmon instead of tuna. :)  Have fun at dinner!
  • agogo1agogo1 member
@blonde1817 yeah, as @Julia70286 mentioned, it's a personal judgment call. If I were in your shoes, I would choose to get the dang ahi, I just wouldn't do it on a regular basis and I'd only get it from a really reputable/nice place.

  • @agogo1 That dress is beautiful and not bridal at all! If her colors were navy and white I might hesitate, (I try to avoid wearing the same color as the bridesmaids' dresses to a wedding if I know what they are,) but since it doesn't sound like they are, you go for it!
  • @agogo1 I don't think it looks bridal at all.  The skirt is more cream than white and the navy blue on top really draws the focus.  The only thing I'd think if someone wore it to my wedding is "That's cute!"
  • That's beautiful @agogo1 ! I don't think it's bridal at all - very perfect for a warm Florida wedding.  And, just because it's long, definitely not too formal. I LOVE maxi dresses and wear them for everything, event or just to work.  I think it's just the right combo for a wedding.  Enjoy!!

Question for second time+ moms (putting this here because that symptoms thread is huge and I can't bring myself to open it): is anyone getting a really "heavy" feeling in their uterus? I walk a LOT for my job and I swear some days I feel like there's a brick in my stomach, plus my hip flexor safe killing me and my lower back is on fire. I remember this vaguely from last pregnancy, but it was definitely well into the third trimester. I just feel like this pregnancy is so different -- all of these new aches and pains I've never experienced before!
  • LGW2015LGW2015 member
@kmalls yep my uterus feels super heavy. Just this morning we were talking about feeling lots of pressure in the symptoms thread.

@LMNOBaby @ignoscemihi @LGW2015 @annabenanna @katlarissa THANK YOU!!! I appreciate the reassurance. I think I am going to go ahead and order it today. Now just to figure out what to do with my hair which I generally ignore and must find the most comfortable pair of cute flat sandals evar. I rarely dress up and we're going to Disney for vacation/our 5 year anniversary the week before the wedding so I think I'm feeling extra celebratory. Also, if I have to be completely sober, I at least want to look good.

  • @kmalls yes, definitely getting that heavy feeling much earlier this pregnancy (along with all my other symptoms).  It's especially bad when I go to the bathroom.

@bamacoop I hate all of those games as well. I can't think of any shower games that I'm particularly fond of, but I am okay with baby shower bingo/gift bingo and having a calendar where guests can write down a guess for the due date (not sure if that really counts as a game, though). I'm sure there are some more creative game ideas out there that wouldn't rub me the wrong way, but I really don't like any of the typical/traditional games at. all. I don't even like the "guess the baby food" game, but it can be funny to see people's expressions after tasting. Although, disclaimer, I actually don't really love showers all that much in general. I am a curmudgeon (but I put on my happy face when I'm a guest at one, I promise).

  • I'm not a fan of the candy diaper or guess-the-girth either.  So tacky.  My favorite baby shower games are of the guess-the-childrens-book variety.  Examples here:

    https://www.etsy.com/listing/201567130/peter-rabbit-alternative-book-name-baby

    https://www.baby-shower.com/games/childrens-literature.html

I also like onesie decorating and/or late night diaper decorating (just grab some markers and disposable diapers and have guests write messages to mom on the diapers -- to be used later for 3 AM changes!).
