@LMart85 I hope this one is it for you!
  • Today is 4dpiui, and I'm having the tiniest bit of cramping, really low. I don't remember having this last cycle. But, could just be fun side effects from the progesterone, I suppose.

  • GL in the 2WW @LMart85 and @omarismyhomeboy! I am glad it wasn't too bad.

I just got back from my baseline and no cysts this time! I go back Sunday so they can measure my follies and then IUI probably 5/10 or 5/11 (Tuesday or Wednesday). I keep ovulating really early so they pushed my follie scan up to CD10 this cycle which I am happy about.

I had an ultrasound this morning and my cysts shrunk a lot! But, I'm still on BC for another two weeks.  Hopefully everything is all clear then, but it looks like I'm out for this month.  Bummer, but oh well.

I have been taking a break for a week or so and have so much to catch up on!! @Monica54321 the chart is so helpful!!!

Good luck to everyone regardless of where you are in your cycle!! AFM, had monitoring this morning with three follies (14, 12, and 12) going back in Wednesday for us and bw. Will probably be ready to trigger then with iui on Friday. Otherwise, we will be doing ti this cycle as we leave for vacay on Saturday.

Has anyone decided to take a break during their treatment?? How did you make the decision to take a break?? I am just so tired of all of these appts but feel like taking a break is just going to make me wait even longer. I sort of feel like if I just push through it will be worth it. But I'm starting to feel myself avoiding all kinds of things related to treatment (i.e., calling to schedule appts, refilling meds, not answering phone calls...) which to me indicates maybe it's time for a short break. I don't know what to do!! If anyone has any personal anecdotes I would love to know why you made the choice to take a break or not!!
  • @srh18 we took a break awhile back over the holidays becuase everything seemed so cumbersome. it was the best decision ever! it was amazing to just think of myself and not what i was eating, when i would temp, taking opks, etc. A mental health month might be just what the doc ordered!

    July 2016 - December 2016; Gonal-F + Ovidren + IUI = BFN x 3

  • @srh18 - What # IUI will this cycle be for you?  Hopefully this upcoming vacation will make you feel a little refreshed.  We've had a few 'forced' breaks due to surgeries & other medical issues, but no experience with voluntary breaks.

  • Congrats on your IUIs @LMart85 and @omarismyhomeboy!  Wishing you both a quick and easy TWW.

@srh18 We've been forced into taking breaks because we either had trips planned or we got delayed, which is what happened with IVF and why we decided to do one more IUI.  I've had two treatment-free cycles in between each of my IUIs and I do think it's a good idea to do this if you can swing it mentally.  It has given my body a break from the meds and also from thinking about TTC all the time.  Then when it was time for another treatment cycle I was very ready to take it on.  There's no right or wrong way to do it, just listen to your mind and your body, and do what you feel will be best. :)

@madasm0530 thanks for sharing!! I truly miss the days when I didn't have to wake up at 6am for monitoring appts, when I didn't have to watch what I was eating and not drink, when my arms didn't look like i shoot up on the reg. It seems weird to me now that there are people who don't actually know exactly what cycle day they are on and how big their maturing follicles are. Haha. I am worried that for this small amount of reprieve I will end up being angry for myself for delaying my family even further, but it does sound sweet!!

@monica54321 this is only our second iui but our sixth medicated and monitored cycle (we did four ti cycles, which my re treats just like iui aside from the actual iui procedure). I go in for monitoring appts daily from day 11 until I'm ready to trigger because I have spontaneously ovulated twice. It's a lot of appts!! I know so many on these boards have done a lot more cycles than me and I hate to complain, but it's a lot of time and emotional/mental effort. :)

@wifeinraleigh28 thanks for sharing!! I love the idea of giving your body a break from the meds! Sometimes I get worried that I'm messing my poor body up even more by pumping it full of all of these hormones!! They are probably going to put me on injectables after this cycle if I get a bfn (I was told originally either letrazole or injectables but today they told me injectables) and I think that's just one more thing that's worrying me/freaking me out. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this iui works for you and you don't even have to do the ivf!!

@ADRIANAC1982 welcome!! Fingers crossed for fast success and a short stay here!! :) good luck with your monitoring appt tomorrow!

So I'm starting TWW and will most likely be doing my IUI now 3rd or last week of May if were not successful on our own.

    *TW- loss mentioned*

@srh18 I was on a forced break starting in February due to a MMC and a couple of procedures I had. Taking a break although heartbreaking was good because it forced me to focus on other things. I started exercising regularly again and started acupuncture. Although my break was not my decision , I feel like I am recharged to get this process going again :)

  • @Monica54321 Its not so bad, its close to work so I usually take a train that gets me in by 7am, I cab it to the dr's office for my 7:30, and im back to work right before 9 after all is said and done.

I LOVE that I can run there if need be, so I cant complain! There is always so many people there which helps my nerves, not because everyone talks, but bc it makes me feel like wow you are not alone!!

The poor front desk receptionist laughs, bc I always walk in with a release of records form so she can have my results copied for me! I learned my lesson last time after not having any of my information! This time im trying to be prepared!!

Here's hoping Thursday shows that these follies have gotten a little bigger, enough so to trigger!

  • @ADRIANAC1982 GL at your follie check on Thursday!  Mine is also on Thursday AM and I can't wait to find out what's going on in my little ovaries!  It feels like there is definitely something brewing in there.  Whenever I do injections I become more aware of my ovaries.  It's such a weird sensation.  Hoping for good news for us on Thurs!

@ADRIANAC1982 What CD are you on? A follicle that is less that 18 is not considered mature. Typically they grow 1-2 mm/day. I'm glad you have another appointment Thursday. Last month my follies only got to 12.5 and 10.5 and they cancelled the cycle, no IUI. They told me follicles needed to be over 18 to be good, mature follies. Fx they keep growing for you!

    Guys I need some advice.

I had to cancel the last IUI, last cycle, due to "not responding" to Clomid. So I don't know when, or if, I ovulated because I wasn't temping due to it being a medicated cycle. Based on CM I am guessing I'm 17 DPO. Seriously, 17?! I never have anything longer than 14, except the cycle I also had to cancel due to cysts.

Does se anyone have any insight? Advice? What do I do? It's driving me batty that AF should have been here Sunday/Monday and now it's freaking Wednesday! I feel like I've been waiting since the beginning of MARCH to even have a shot at an IUI. Grrr..

This is correct.  My RE usually triggers me when I have follies measuring at least 17mm because they continue to grow until IUI 2 days later.

Hope everyone is doing well today!  May the fourth be with you all!  (Yes, I'm a nerd).

@paigeed sorry AF isn't arriving, maybe you can ask your doctor to prescribe provera to get things going?
  • paigeedpaigeed member
@ale9687 I will see how today goes, if AF is still a no show after 17 DPO I will give them a call. I mean, that's just ridiculous.

So at my check up today a random RE wandered into my us (this is not uncommon for my clinic, they try to be available randomly in case we have questions) and something she said off-handedly has been circling through my head and kinda making me freak out. So here I am to see if anyone else has heard this before/what you guys think.

So I have one follie at 18 and one at 16. Typically I would be told to trigger because I ovulate on my own sometimes and I mentioned to the re that this was great news since I go out of town on Saturday. The re then said that I would probably need to wait another day because a follie at 18mm only has an 80% chance of releasing a mature egg.

Okay what? Every other time I've been told 18 is mature and we're good to go. Hell, one month they had me trigger at 16 because I would likely be at 18 before I ovulated with the trigger. So am I not even releasing eggs?????? Or am I reading too much into this? Definitely could be the latter but I wanted to see if anyone else has ever been told this.

  • Hmmmm.  @srh18 I've heard that 18 mm is a mature follie, however there's always a chance of follicles not releasing mature eggs.  80% is still a high chance.  I wonder if your doc just wants to give the 16 mm follie a chance to grow a bit more so that you have two that are mature?  I know every doctor does things differently sometimes, but it makes my head spin too.  We have to trust in them so much every step of the way!

@srh18 I think maybe he wants to have the 16mm one hit 18mm because he's saying since it's an 80% chance an 18mm one will release an egg let's wait to have two above that size. I have read that follies grow 1-2mm a day so one extra day could give you two good sized follies.
