Y'all, yesterday's pre-e scare at the doctor's office had the effect of lighting a fire under my husband's ass...he's finally helping me with the nursery stuff I've been trying to get him to do since forever. Still have to put some of the decor on the walls, but he is going to do it after dinner, which he is cooking right now.
Also, I really hope my water doesn't break at home, because my glider came in today and it's so comfortable that I think I'm going to stay in it until I go into labor. I can't sleep laying down flat anyway...
ETA: not trying to take away from those of y'all who have posted above and below about your DH's who've had less interest...mine hasn't had much up to this point either, even though this is our first. I suspect that has more to do with his medical training/exposure than anything else though - he's just not as impressed with the process of getting there. I think he'll be a lot more invested when LO is here, though.
@thismakes4 My DH has done significantly less this pregnancy too and is basically just waiting for the baby to arrive. I think the pregnancy excitement loses some of its novelty once you've been through it, even if the pregnancies are different.
So I get a text from my sister at 3:30 today saying, "I think I'm having contractions...they feel like period cramps but are really sporadic." She brings her daughter down to me and goes to the hospital and has her son at 6:30!!!! 3 freaking hours! That's it!!
ETA: I have to share some of the things my brother in law is texting me right now:
"It was like her uterus pitched out the placenta and he caught it with his stomach." "I feel like I just left the battlefield. Last time they covered it up. This time they treated me like a freakin medic in WW2 and I saw it all. Yes, I almost passed out." "She was screaming so loud I could see her soul."

Put a puppy pad down on the cushion (or a towel). Yay for DH being productive!!

You guys. Y'all. DH brought home a sampler box of cheesecake slices from Cheesecake Factory. I'm elated - I don't think there is enough room in my stomach to stuff in as much as I want to eat but I'm going to try!
a) I'm horribly jealous of your dessert situation right now. Your DH ftw! b) You've got this...make us proud! c) This has prompted me to Google the dessert menu of the Old Chicago by our house. Brownie bites with caramel sauce for this girl!
I have a whole pineapple on my kitchen counter. No idea how to cut the damn thing though??
They have these really cool things you can use where you just have to cut the top off and you push it down and turn it inside the pineapple shell(?) and it cores it at the same time! When I try to cut it myself I think I only get about 1/4 of the pineapple.
Although, isn't the labor-inducing part of the pineapple the core?

Their cheesecake is pretty good too!

I think the core is to help with fertility?? I don't think the core tastes very good and it's really tough.

I just made peppermint brownies. They smell amazing but I feel a little ill so i'm not going to eat any a the moment. I also made blueberry muffins. None of these things are labor inducing.

Yeah I definitely wouldn't eat actually eat the core! I looked it up, Google says that the enzyme in the pineapple that's supposed to induce labor is way more concentrated in the core. So you should eat the core if you want it to be effective?
Nothing of substance here. Anyone else freaking out that they're going to have a baby? I mean, I'm obviously late to the party but it's finally hitting me. I know several of us have RCS or inductions scheduled this week and it's crazy to be able to say I'm going to have a baby this week.
Sometimes I wish I didn't work at an elementary school... I mean, I only have to see groups of kids for 15 - 25 minutes at a time, but there are definitely days that by the end I am seriously questioning that I want kids. Obvs too late at this point... although it doesn't help that the public library I work at is right across the street from the school I work at so we have a large after school population. Thank god it's at least warm enough now that the kids can burn off some energy outside. I dread rainy days.
And a DH rant that's really just the tip of the iceberg: DH has also been super cranky lately and I'm pretty sure the kids at his schools (he's a guidance counselor) have a lot to do with it. Also like a lot of first time dads DH been trying to spend a bunch of time with his friends before the baby comes, but this weekend ILs and SIL's family asked him to watch their dogs and he's all bent out of shape about it because he was going to hang out with his friend who lives 2 1/2 hours away. And of course let's just ignore the fact that he has gone down to see this friend about 5 - 6 times in the last month and a half, staying down there for a good chunk of time each time, and his friend texts him all the time (I know this might sound suspicious to some, but I knew this friend before he moved away and he is just like this. I do call him DH's bit on the side, but that's mostly because it annoys DH... and I'm not a big fan of him because dude needs to chill).
Anyway, DH then got even more bent out of shape about the dogs because I didn't feel comfortable taking over for him so that DH didn't have to be back by 11 pm (horrors). ILs' dog is a sweetheart and I did go let him out after work today, but SIL has two dogs and one of them is fine (large yellow lab mix who thinks he's tiny as he slowly tries to sneak into your lap), but the other (while also a sweetheart like the other two) is medium large and pretty strong, very excitable, and jumps up on people. If I weren't pregnant it would be fine and I would deal, and I don't mind going with DH to take care of them, but going at 36w by myself is just a big no for me.

I eyeballed that too! I settled for a brownie and caramel blizzard, because I'm so indecisive right now.
Dr. Won't let me go to L&D till contraction is 7-8 mins apart... Have been walking around with 5cm dilated and 90% effaced since Tuesday with due date of 5/3...... Just let me go to hospital and hook me up to epi......arrgh!!!
Moms with toddlers: anyone watch Sofia the First?? We've been watching a *couple* more episodes than usual cuz I'm just so dang tired...but I'm down the rabbit hole with all these theories on the backstory. I neeeed to know!!! It's driving me nuts!!

Tell me more! We watch it but I didn't know there was anything to it ...

DD will watch that every once in awhile. I honestly have no idea! How was she not a princess, but is now? All I really know is that her amulet(?) let's her speak to animals.
So basically I read that Roland and Miranda had an affair and had Sofia. Technically she is his biological child which explains why it seems he likes her more than the twins lol...& the episode with the wishing well-- the theory is that Roland's first wish was to be with Miranda and since that wishing well basically gives you what you want while screwing something else up...it caused his wife to die.
& now I'm obsessed with finding clues in every episode to see if this could possibly be true lol

She was a commoner. Her dad died and her mom remarried the king. So modern haha

Sofia is on a lot at our house and DD2 has a Sofia room so I've probably seen every episode and the movie. Based in the movie intro it didn't seem like Roland and Miranda met until Sofia was already around but Sofia's dad is never mentioned...... So maybe there is something going on
Random rant: a coworker of mine declined to be my bridesmaid a while back. Her reasoning was essentially, "but what if we're not friends by then." She, however, said she wanted to keep my LO company at the wedding. I barely talk to her and when i do, it's because I have sought her out. She texted me today and said "any news?" I responded "Nope. I'll let people know after he's born." She even told her husband that she won't be around on the weekends because she'll be at my house with the baby. Ummm... No.
Like seriously? My kid isn't your plaything. If you can't be a good friend, you also don't get to just insert yourself into my child's life. She's got another thing coming.
I'm bored as shit. But no energy to get off the couch to do anything. So I guess I will continue to sit here bored out of my mind, willing baby to come. I have to give it up to anyone on br.

Yes, this. And I think you have to eat A LOT of the core.
Serious question: My DH snores... LOUDLY! Should I be concerned about getting LO to sleep through his log sawing hours? I struggle to sleep through it and just realized that the plan was to keep the bassinet on DHs side of the bed. I don't want to kick my H out of our bed but if I have to I will.
I guess there's no way to know until the baby actually gets here, but maybe if you've had that snoring as background noise for the past howevermany months, it'll actually be soothing and familiar?
After all, if newborns can recognize and be comforted by songs they heard in the womb, why not snores too. They're babies, they don't make value judgments as to melodies yet. (Hey, one can hope until proven wrong, right?)

That's how I feel! Every sound in your house is going to become somewhat familiar to your LO when they're on the outside. At first I was worried about my dog barking, since I accidentally/on purpose trained him to bark when someone knocks at the door (for security) but then I realized that LO has heard him bark for months now and probably likes it!

Hmm...Not sure. I vacuumed under DD1, dogs barked (when in the living room), I never had anyone keep it down, etc. while DD1 slept/napped. To this day she is able to sleep through ANYTHING. It's actually been a blessing to have her conditioned that way.

Had as anyone seen this? The pregnant belly molds. I mean, where do you put it? On a wall? I think it's kinda weird
My mom's friend bought me an at-home belly mold kit. It just seems super awkward to me, especially since the example picture on the box included the boobs, too. I don't want a monochromatic naked mold of my torso!!! Writing that thank you note was a struggle.

Lol my mom tagged me on this video and I think it's super creepy. I especially do not need a mold of how awkward my belly button is, let alone my entire pregnant belly. I have the same questions of what would you do with it? Hang it on the wall? In the nursery? On a bookshelf? Nooo thank you...
