@Charla1224 I was worried about snoring too but after the past 3 nights in hospital I'm not anymore. We've been in a semi-private room with two loudly snoring dads and neither baby ever woke up from it. In general, sounds didn't wake up the babies and there are a lot of random loud noises all night at the hospital.
Is anyone else battling these horrible ingrown hairs from not being able to see to shave. This is the 2nd one Ive had in 2 months. It is HUGE and making it painful to walk. Oh, I just want to be able to see again to properly shave. 10 more days, 10 more days!
@Charla1224 I wouldn't worry about it too much. With DS he didn't mind the dogs barking or anything really. I did my best to keep noise around so that he didn't become super sensitive to it. Everyone swore by the white noise machines and at first I wasn't sure but finally got into the routine of turning it on and while it doesn't make DS sleep through the night or anything, it does prevent him from being woken up by our dogs, the neighbors dogs, the washing machine, etc. I'd recommend it for kind of "evening out" the snoring noises.
I have a feeling I'll just be using 2x a day colace for the rest of my life. Even my colace pu is like rocks.
@khochanadel I took it for 2 months straight with DD haha. Then I gradually changed my diet and between that and the healing process things slowly got better!

Yes, I've been having these too! SOOOO painful. I cannot wait to be able to do some grooming!!!
@yogahh what frustrates me is that everyone who defends maternity leave argues that it's about bonding with baby. I think that clouds the discussion. Most of us are using FMLA. Has nothing to do with baby and everything to do with medical leave and healing. Comparing staying home with your dog or taking time to find yourself with medical treatment and/ or surgery recovery is insulting. No one would ever say they deserve time off because it's not fair that their coworker gets time off for his/ her chemo. Just another example of how the experiences of women are not valued.

Couldn't agree more. Whats infuriating to me is how lightly these people are taking ML. Yes, its about bonding, but also about recovery. When I got my cat, I took a day off to spend with her to get her acclimated. She didn't need me for 12 weeks! GRRRRR. How was the Me-ternity idiot on the View today?
And Navient wins for once... They came back to me today about a name change issue on my student loans and just went ahead and fixed it bc they supposedly 'found' the documents they needed. So now I don't have to dig around for a bunch of paperwork and I was able to put in my last request to defer my student loans while out on leave. The 2 other ones have already been approved so yay that I get to save some money while I'm not getting paid and that it did not end up being a nightmare of a process.
@yogahh apparently she got dragged via social media over the weekend so she back tracked on everything. She was only meaning to promote her fictional novel where the character takes a me-ternity leave but she doesn't actually believe in doing it.
Well hey, just for funsies... if you're a teacher/school staff, Chick-fil-a is giving away a free biscuit in the a.m. or a free chicken sandwich for the rest of the day tomorrow with a valid school employee ID.
I don't know if this is just local to my city, or nationwide, though.
Today's my first day staying home. No more work! So far I've napped. Yep. That's it. I'm so lazy.
Anyway. That Me-ternity leave crazy lady is going to be on The View today too so another hour on my ass is scheduled.
I read something today about "paw-ternity" leave. Yup, time off to stay home with your new pet. Give me a break people...
The pawternity leave is actually kind of cool. It's not for all pets (the guy said that if you got a goldfish you don't need a week off) and they do it on a case by case basis. One example was a man who took his suddenly deceased mothers dog- the dog needed time to adjust to the family so he got a week off.

I'm not buying it. I can see taking a week off to grieve your mother's passing obviously but not to take care of your newly acquired dog. That seems insane to me.

Thats called a vacation week. Comparing it to ML is a slap in the face
Speaking of ML, is anyone else still working? Just me? I feel like a lot of you ladies are done with work already. Makes me wonder WTF am I still doing here?!?!
@yogahh I am still working too. The plan was to work up until I go into labor, but now I think I am only going to work a week past my due date. My work is about an hour from where I live and I really don't want to go into labor while at work.
Me: 31
DH: 29, SA - Great

My last day is Friday and my induction is next Thursday. My work is also an hour from home, but the hospital 10 minutes from work. I wouldn't mind going into labor at work. Although I would rather not be at work at all!!!
Still working too. My due date is the 9th so I've considered making Friday my last day but I'm not sure I want to do that... both because I don't want to be super overdue and wasting my ML on the front end and because I think I'd go crazy sitting around waiting for labor to start without a solid distraction. But I'm very distracted at work and to be honest I'm not accomplishing much.

Still working over here and unless baby comes early or my midwife says otherwise tomorrow, I'm working at least through next week. Why I wanted to do things this way I have no idea bc I'm pretty exhausted at this point. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be working from home next week though. It's taking me entirely too much energy to get up everyday and get ready to actually go into work. And while work is technically closer to the birth center, I'd much rather go into labor at home than at work anyway.
I'm still working too, although I'm doing most of my work at home and going into the office just long enough to transfer the files off my flash drive and reformat them on my work computer.
Given that I have so much flexibility about when I go in and for how long, there's really no reason for me to take off before I absolutely have to, so I'll probably keep going until I'm actually in labor or I just run out of work.
I'm working until I go into labor. Ride or die until the end. But, it's easier for me since I work from home. My mom comes in on Friday though, so it'll be even harder to focus next week.
I was planning on working until the 13th - with my c-section on the 17th but doc said no way am I allowed to work the last two weeks. I am dreading the two weeks without work to keep my mind off baby's arrival.
Did anyone use the new baby as an excuse to upgrade your camera or video gear? I have a DSLR that I never use because it's not convenient, and I never did keep pursuing photography as a hobby. I finally bit the bullet splurged on a Sony Mark III point and shoot that also shoots HD video. We were going back and forth on video camera vs. point a shoot, but I think if we're going to spend the money at the moment, we'd get more use out of a point and shoot that does video. I think I may try to sell my DSLR, but I have no idea how much I'd get for a 6 year old Nikon.
I decided in the middle of last week that last Friday would be my last day. I could be working this week (wk 39) but my job requires quite a bit of walking and it was taking its toll on me. I also felt like my whole team was anxiously waiting for the morning when I'd say LOs on her way and they'd have to make adjustments quickly. Leaving early has allowed them to better prepare/plan. Also since I'm on a school year contract I would've only taken 5 weeks or less of short term disability/ FMLA. Once the school year ends at the end of May my leave would end and I'd be paid the remainder of my contract through the summer. My school gives me 8 wks of leave so I figured I'd take advantage of an extra week.
Re: the ME-Ternity leave issue...I think her delivery may have been off, but there is something to be said for the amount of insane hours that people in the States work. It's not like that in other developed nations. Heck, in many European countries, they take more vacation, daily siestas, etc. I think she's alluding to the lack of work-life balance and there is something to be said for working to live vs. living to work, imo.

I'm still working. Although I just walked into my bosses office and told him I was leaving. I'm over here timing contractions. But if it's nothing I'll go back tomorrow.

Right here! Working away until the bitter, bitter end. Due on the 19th... so we'll see how long I'll last...
I'm also still working. My due date is the 12th, and I plan to work until the next Friday the 13th unless baby boy decides to arrive before then. If I still haven't went into labor, i may choose to work that following week as well, but I'll likely just decide to stay home and take it easy at that point.
I'm still working, too. Of course, I'm not due until the 23rd. I worked from home on Friday because I wasn't feeling well, but I'm back in the office today. I have a lot of sinus congestion and a scratchy throat, and I've been having some irregular but painful contractions, so I thought about working from home again today. I didn't because nesting has taken over at this point, and I doubt I would have gotten much work done at home, and I really need to tie up some loose ends before my ML. I'm planning on working up until the end, but I'll probably end up working exclusively from home as I get closer to my EDD.

You're not alone. Im still working. I'd love to begin leave but considering this is a relatively new position I don't have the luxury.
