This thread makes me jealous. I've had zero contractions. Absolutely nothing that makes it seem like she is coming anytime soon. Zip zero nada.
It might be possible that you're having them but are just not feeling them. At my OB appt last Friday, my OB said that I've had LOTS (not getting into the whole literal vs. figurative debate) but for whatever reason am not feeling them.
Edited because the end of my sentence cut off.
I dont think so... I have had 3 NST sessions now, and no contractions during any of them. Since I am being induced, I am not stressing about it. I just wanna feel something!
STMs/ST+Ms, anyone else finding that false labor contractions this time are rougher? Much less like forceful BH and very much like earlier labor contractions...just irregular or not progressing. ...mine are in my back again too as well as the front
I didn't have false labor at all with my first. I didn't realize how lucky I was at the time! It's been happening for like a month with this one, and it has gotten progressively more painful as time goes on. Sometimes it feels like just more BH, and sometimes it's the crampy early labor contractions...
Oh please do feel lucky if you're not having false labor...I'm going bonkers here. Yesterday, I had contractions about every 10 minutes (but with a stupid range from 4 to 22 min) from noon on. I eventually went to the hospital around 2am because I couldn't sleep thanks to the pain, and contractions were getting closer (4-6 min) after taking a shower AND a bath to help with the pain. They monitored me for a little over an hour, and my contractions were coupling (two contractions close together). Dilated only at 1.5cm and had bloody show before getting there. I was sent home with a shot of Gravol and morphine to help me sleep. So I slept two hours, woke up again to painful contractions, but now about 15 min apart. Then I go to the bathroom, and see clots of bright red blood. So I call the hospital back before 'any bright red blood' is one of the reasons why I should go back. Got monitored again, and cervix is 1.5-2cm. Cue waterworks, and I'm sent home again. I'm seriously discouraged. My chiro kindly offered to come and adjust me at home to encourage things. I swear this baby better come out soon...in the meantime, I'll try to nap through contractions....
This has got to be the only time in your life when you are excited about gross things happening to you body. I've never been so happy to see an obvious piece of mucus plug in my underwear at the same time I'm having some pretty serious diarrhea. What have a become?
@KidShrink I'm sorry you're in so much pain, and dealing with the mental games too . I am kind of surprised they keep sending you home, but then again I really know nothing about going into labor spontaneously. I hope you can get some rest while you wait it out.
Yeah, I don't know if it's a Canadian thing to send us home until it's really serious (i.e. 3-4 cm dilated, contractions less than 5 min apart). Publicly funded healthcare?
One of the nurses told me that she had daily false labour for 8 weeks with her second kid, who finally showed up the day after her DD. Thankfully there's no way I have 8 weeks left, but I would have gone insane. That wasn't encouraging at all.
I haven't slept yet, guys. The heartburn was so bad no matter what position I put myself in. Plus some minor anxiety about a bug I saw in the bedroom that disappeared as soon as I turned my back for two seconds, so I ended up moving to a different room than usual. Probably didn't help the heartburn.
Going to ask the NP I'll be seeing today if she has any suggestions about what to do about it...from what I understand antacids are not an option because I'm on an iron supplement.
OMG you guys. I have never been so hyper aware of my own vagina in my life!! It doesn't matter if I am standing/sitting/laying down... the pressure down there is beyond intense. How the hell am I supposed to deal with this for possibly the next 2-4 weeks. Praying this baby comes NOW.

I'm in a similar situation as you but not as intense. I've had some fairly strong early labour-type contractions lasting 3-6 hours each time for four of the last six nights. Makes it really hard to rest/sleep/work and definitely plays tricks on your mind. I'm also Canadian and have the same rules about not heading to the hospital until 4 cm dilated / 5 min contractions. It's exhausting. The only thing that helped me is gravol, but that's just a temporary fix to get a few hours of sleep. Hope you get some relief soon!

Many hospitals in the US won't admit until 4cm/5min or water breaks too. I definitely sympathize with the relentless contractions. I hope you both are able to find some relief or progress soon!

Yes. The false labor contractions that I'm having are not BH but real contrax just as you described. The pain starts in my low back and radiates forward to my stomach and then to my crotch. It completely stops my in my tracks, and I need to sit down to get through them. I definitely didn't experience this the first time around. No fun.
With my first pregnancy I was having tons of BH's at this point (nothing that made me think false labor though), but this time I have only 1-2 contractions a day. It's crazy how different this pregnancy has been. But I would much rather take no contractions than tons of BH's.
Yes , I am a STM and I don't remember having any contractions at all and I've been having them wake me up every night lately where my stomach tightens , it feels like an elephant sitting on my chest , and extreme lower back pain and pressure .. it is awful they stick around for a couple hours and then just stop it's awful!
Third time mom and this is the first time I've had contractions or BHs that would stop me in my tracks and had to just breathe through. I've also had a lot more false labor this time around too.
Prodromal labor is no joke. At my doctors appointment yesterday, 24 hours ago to be exact, I was 3cm dilated and 100% effaced. Shortly after my visit, contractions started. Pretty intense right off. They've only been getting worse and now I'm having back and front contractions and they've gotten significantly worse since 6 this morning. Every five minutes for the past 24 hours. They're getting more intense but not closer together or longer. Thought I broke my water or at least had a leak this morning so I called and they had me come into the office. My water is still intact, but "right there" according to the doctor. No change to my cervix even after 24 hours of contractions. These contractions are getting hard to walk and talk through but apparently it's not enough to be admitted. Could be dealing with this prodromal labor for another hour or another week.

This is me too! And I feel like a crazy person for wishing I had some discomfort. Last night at 39 weeks I think I may have felt a few contractions that felt like my period was starting but it was so week and not painful. Just slightly noticeable aching for about a 60 seconds. I'm starting to think my uterus is lazy. Does mild aching count as a contraction? VS2016 glad to hear other moms didn't experience much before the real deal! I thought I was suppose to have BH by now but I guess I should consider myself lucky.
Guess who's got two thumbs and is currently being monitored in triage for pre-e? This chick!
If I had known I was going to be coming here straight after my appointment, I would have actually eaten something beforehand. I'm starrrrrrrrviiiiiiiing. Somebody send me some tacos, stat!
ETA: Aaaaaaaand they're already discharging me. Am on bed rest though, and have to go back Monday. At least I'm finally getting those tacos...
The last several days people keep saying how small my bump looks for almost 39 weeks which has kind of been freaking me out. I'm seeing it too now and I'm hoping the reason is that since he dropped (dr confirmed his head is "right there" at my cervical check) the head being in the pelvis is making the bump itself look small. Google has some anecdotal stuff about this but I haven't found anything remotely scientific. Anyone else looking smaller toward the end?
@babyfmama, I'm two weeks behind you but I get that too.... "Oh, you're so small..." I don't like it. My bump is measuring right on according to the fundal measurements but still the comments bug me. My baby's head is down in the pelvis too so maybe that's it? I'm also tall so there is a lot of room for baby to stretch I guess?
@babyfmama baby dropping can definitely make the bump look smaller! I wouldn't worry. Since I've dropped so much, I'm simultaneously getting comments of, "you look smaller and more compact," from people who know me well and, "Congratulations! When are the twins due?" from strangers. (Only having 1 who has me measuring 41w at 39w.)
I'm wondering how much material a mucus plug contains, as it feels like I've shed enough for about 5 mucus plugs by now. Today it's all been slightly tinged with blood, which I know means labor is getting closer....
In the sense that labor has been getting closer every day for the past 9 months!
has anyone else had the "let down" feeling in your boobs at all before labor? I only know the feeling since I'm a stm but I've been getting it all day and it's so strange but I'm not leaking
Losing bits of my mucus plug today...hoping that means labor is soon. I'm not quite sure why I am excited about the pain that's about to happen but at least there's a prize at the end?

I've been getting this off and on for a few weeks now. No leakage either.

Does it involve a slightly itchy/tingly sensation just before you leak (if either of y'all were)? Because I've noticed this weird sort of feeling inside my breasts/nipples just before/as I start leaking (though it's only been a drop or two each time that I do). FTM, though, so I hadn't made a connection with it being the "let down" feeling...I thought my breasts were just being as itchy as the rest of me. :P

I wish! My letdown feels like the moment when you get relief from a pain pill. My back could sure use it! I've just been leaking without the advantage of the rest.

36 weeks and nearly every day I get up, eat within 30 min, and within the next hour I am feeling faint to the point of everything "closing in" on me, dizzy, with cold sweats. No fun.

I hear ya. Also, a question: did anyone else continue to have bloody discharge for a full week after their cervical check? I expected a little bleeding and wasn't surprised to see that I started losing bits of my mucus plug but I'm sort of surprised that I am still having bloody mucus (sorry, I know that's gross) nearly a week later.

I have not heard of this. Have you told your doc??

I haven't because she mentioned that I may experience some bleeding and/or cramping post cervical check. Not sure how long that is supposed to last through? I should mention it's not a ton but enough that I see reddish brown discharge most times that I wipe.
