I don't know if this is a third tri symptom or not, but is anyone still dealing with itchy breasts? I've had itchy breasts even before getting pg, and get excema on my hands I'm doing everything I can to not itch and then....I just can't stand it anymore and I itch and break the skin. I've been putting olive oil on my nipples and areole, and sometimes Benadryl cream. I try to let them be exposed to air more often (so when I work from home, I'm sometimes working topless, lol) but I'm really starting to get worried. They are dry and cracked right now bc two days ago I had an itching attack in the middle of the night I'm so worried my allergies are going to keep me from b/f
I've noticed my stomach and breasts are becoming more itchy too. I notice it more when I'm wearing full panel pants or a cami under my shirt. So I'm trying not to wear them when I don't have it. Which means I look super awesome at home.
I also have eczema on my hands and my nipples. My ob said it's ok for me to use steroid cream that I had on hand for eczema anyway, on both places, but I am hesitant to do so, esp. as I get closer to EDD. For me, neutrogena norwegian formula hand cream keeps the hands as in check as I can get them. For the boobs, I've been using the mother's blend oil that I use on my stomach. The itching isn't as bad as it could be, but I do get a lot of flaking... SUPER pleasant! As for BF, my OB says that I can use the steroid cream if things get bad and just make sure I clean my nipples before breastfeeding. Not sure I want to do that, but it might be better than formula feeding...? Also, they have those nipple shields: https://www.medelabreastfeedingus.com/tips-and-solutions/112/nipple-shields. I plan to have them on hand in case, though they come with their own concerns. Good luck! Wishing you an itch-free sleep tonight!
@Merciel Some people are off gluten, or carbs; I was off pants for the last 3 weeks! And since having the baby Saturday I've maintained this stance. Pretty much only wearing ridiculously lose and comfortable yoga pants, and then only because I'm a) leaving the hospital, or b) taking baby to her doctors appointment. Pants life is not for me!
I've had all the emotions lately. I'm sitting here and just feeling like crying for no reason at all. I've been irritable and just not nice many times the last few days. And from what I've heard this isn't going to get any better anytime soon.
So, no fluid leak, I just have a gigantic baby that is super low and making me pee myself; so cute. We got an ultrasound to estimate size and weight and while I know they can be off by quite a bit, the ultrasound tech, ob, and lab tech all said that my belly is very large for 36w4d. Baby estimated in 97th percentile at 8lb7oz and my bp was high again today. Got more labs done and doing yet another 24 hour catch. I go back Friday and my ob said its looking like we will be talking induction whether it be for the high bp that I've had for several weeks or due to size of baby, or both. She says she doesn't foresee me being pregnant any longer than 2 more weeks as my body isn't accommodating the size of this baby very well. I've got an umbilical hernia forming and my swelling is unreal. She said at future appts we will talk about our options and let baby develop as much more as we can and we will eventually make a decision on when he or she should come out based on the circumstances. Hearing no longer than 2 weeks made things get super real. Good lord.
Last night I got my first migraine in 9 months. I've had migraines since I was about 11 so I'm eye rolling myself for not realizing my general malaise and "why don't I feel good?" Was a migraine coming. By the time I got to the baby's room, which is colder and the bed allows me to stretch out more, my head was in full migraine, nausea had set in, and my ribs hurt. i have an appointment today and I'm definitely going to mention it!
All the pants in my wardrobe have been fired except for the one pair of jeans that I have to wear to walk the dogs.
Everything else, forget it. Dresses and nightgowns only. I would rather walk the mile and a half to work in heeled sandals than put up with pants. I'm solidly convinced that the pressure from the stretch band causes my abdomen to cramp, and not in any helpful way.
Oh man, I've been in this boat for a couple months now!!! My belly is so low that the seam between the jean part and the stretchy part just digs in to my pelvis. SO UNCOMFORTABLE. But the opposite problem is that if I have to walk a whole lot (like going shopping) and I wear a skirt, then I get that lovely sweaty thigh rub going, and that sucks too.
@JoMunson I've had a couple migraines this pregnancy and they've started a lot differently than my not-pregnant migraines. It also took me a lot longer to realize that's what was going on.
Speaking of heat rashes and sweaty thighs ... I have had the worst chafing on the area where my thigh hits my vag . It gets so raw I can barely walk . The only thing that helps is Baby powder to keep it dry .

Thank you! I'm used to a metal taste in my mouth before a migraine and I never got that. I know my doctors are not worried about pre-e but having a migraine when I haven't had one in so long was a little spooky
Think we are off to the hospital soon-ish . . . Woke up at 2am with what felt like period cramps. I thought "this can't be it!" TMI warning?: I had some gushy feelings that ended up being some strange pinkish colored fluid so I assume that's minor water breaking plus blood? Now at 4:39am crampy feeling happening every 4-6 minutes and lasting 45 seconds to just over a minute. Everyone says "You will know!" so under that rule I feel like this can't be *IT* . . . I still feel unsure.

Thinking of you! I know you have had it rough with BP issues... Hoping everything goes well! It's getting close to when you meet your LO.
Prodromal labor can suck it. Yesterday afternoon I started having real contractions around 4. The kind that starts in your back and wraps all the way around and makes you stop and notice, nothing like the Braxton hicks that I've had for months now. By 6:30 they were about 6 minutes apart and lasting 45 seconds each. LO dropped down so low it feels like I'm being split in half. They stuck around no matter what I did, even through a nice warm bath. I decide to wait a while longer before calling my midwife. Get DS in bed and start getting ready for bed myself, contractions are about 4-5 minutes apart and my back is hurting enough that I can't sleep. Definitely thinking we're going to have a baby soon by this point. At 4:30 this morning they just vanish. Wth. I'm so ready for this to be over. She still has a few more weeks to cook, and I want what's best for her, but this is miserable.
I had the worst headache last night. I haven't had any since early on in the pregnancy, and Tylenol didn't phase it at all. At first, I thought it was a tension headache because I've been stressed at work, but as the night went on it felt more like a sinus headache because of the pressure behind my right eye. I'm not sure if it even had anything to do with the pregnancy, but I'm planning to bring it up to my OB at my appointment this afternoon, especially since a lot of you seem to be getting them now also.
In all seriousness, how do you know if what you are feeling is contractions, discomfort, the baby moving and/or the feeling you need to poop?
Since yesterday, later in the afternoon (like now), I am getting tightness in back, sides/hips and stomach. I cant tell if its being uncomfortable from sitting upright at this stupid desk (7 more days of working thank God!) or baby moving or actual contractions. In no way to I think I am in labor, but this has been the most feeling I have had (aside from those 2 BH last weekend). I guess I would just like a name for it.
Going to apologize ahead of time because, little awkward here. Ok so uhm...I've had extra discharge the past several weeks which I know is totally normal, but the past few days it's felt like I leak the slightest amount of fluid and I've just told myself it's discharge or pee...or both. It's not enough to put a pad in but enough to leave my underwear a little wet. Then today, whenever I sit to go pee I feel these air bubbles in my vagina...I have an ob appt tomorrow and fully intend on bringing it up, but I just want to see if anyone else is experiencing this/has experienced it. I'd have a hard time believing that this is due to an amniotic fluid leak, but I could be wrong.
I had something similar today. I haven't had much extra discharge thus far, but today after I got dressed my underwear got wet like maybe a few teaspoons of liquid. As I was changing and cleaning myself up I had a slight trickle that was white-ish and a texture between water and semen. Nothing since then but I have read antidotes that the mucus plug could be watery or you can have a tiny AF leak that would not test positive or be a concern.
No bubble feeling tho... I'm 38w6d. Maybe some STM's have advice?!
I'd definitely mention it to your doctor but it sounds similar to what I'm dealing with. My cervix is lower this time (you may have dropped and that's why yours is low) so I'm getting all kinds of water and mucus (sorry) discharge mixed in with occasional loose pee in my panties. Very scary at first when I didn't know what was going on. My doctor checked me for AF and noticed immediately when he got in there (sorry) I had a lot of discharge which he said was normal for how far along I was at the time (I think 35ish weeks??). It tested negative for AF and he said pretty much sorry but this is pg (thanks, right??). I say to mention it to your doctor bc this is only my experience with it and I would hate for you to ignore it and find out it really was AF...

The only way to know for sure is to do a checklist: drinking a lot of water (I do the pee test since I'm peeing every 10 min anyways..by gauging the color of my pee to see if I'm hydrated enough), lay on your left side for at least an hour (not helpful when you're at work), eat some fiber (to knock out the hunger theory as well as hopefully it will make you poop to knock that one out as well), and see if they're coming regularly. Anything to do with tightness in the back through the sides to the front make me nervous (due to previous back labor). If any/all of those things relieve the symptoms then they're BH...If not, they're contractions.

Thanks...I will research mother's blend oil. I also get the flakiness, which is where I'm at after my itching attack the other day...I hate excema!!! You know what helps the most? Not getting my hands wet. But how realistic is that?!?!
@JoMunson eHug to you and your migraines. Fx I think I finally have mine under control. I've doubled my water intake which means I'm basically floating and my OB prescribed me Fioricet. I'm not a fan of meds and it makes me super sleepy but after two hospital visits it's releaving.

Yes, this! I have to pee every 3 minutes and I'm supposed to limit getting my hands wet? Good times!

Thank you! I have dropped and baby has been low since my 36w cheek. I called and because it didn't soak a pad or continue they said it was just lovely pg discharge and to come in if I noticed an increase. I think it's my body probably just kicking hormones into gear, because I need more symptoms to think about. lol
Ugh...having trouble with figuring out when a contraction begins and ends...I just had what I believe are two fairly long contractions (4-5 min each): starts at the bottoms of my belly (like bad menstrual cramp) and the rest of my belly gets hard...but really, with not much relief between the two. I'm 39 weeks today and saw my chiro before who said her treatment could very well induce things....also lost at least part of my MP yesterday (I just don't bother turning on the light in the bathroom every time I get up at night). Is this it? Is it not? Who knows...

I've been having a similar issue. When I went to L&D last weekend I was apparently feeling both "real" contractions (the kind that we're opening my cervix but not far enough to result in a baby) and crazy baby movement. But they weren't happening at the same time based on what I could see from the monitor. The doc said that sometimes contractions cause the baby to move like crazy so that's why it was hard for me to figure out when the contractions were happening and when it was just a ton of movement.
I've been having the same issue again tonight but have just decided to try and not worry about what is causing each feeling and just assume that I'll know when it's the real deal due to increased pain, water breaking, etc. But I have to admit I'm still always curious to know what exactly is going on in there.
I have seriously reached the point of patheticness where it's 6:18 am and I'm sitting here sleeplessly Googling "does pooping a bunch mean labor is starting."
Somebody hit me upside the head with the sanity stick, I need it.
Sometimes when I'm Googling something that I know is Actually Stupid (like right now!) I will phrase it in deliberately dumb terms (see previous post) and you know what, a lot of times I get better results that way.
I think at a certain point this is just what our brains turn into. And that point is, it turns out, the exact same stretch of crazy where lots of women before me went.
This is the most connected I've ever felt to that hippy-dippy mystic feminine. What does that say about the world. (I know what it says about me: that I should have gone to sleep eight hours ago.)
@Merciel : oh I know what you mean! For sure you wouldn't have found anything googling 'does frequent defecation suggest impending labor'...pooping a bunch...now, we're talking!
I'm convinced these last few days full of what seem like we might be going in labor but where it doesn't actually happen is just meant to prepare us to have no control over so many things with our LOs and insure we're on our way to having gray hair!

Every time I google something stupid I think about how the google headquarters has a ticker that shows google searches in real time, and I get slightly scared that my search is being broadcast to all the Google employees, where they shake their heads at my stupidness.
@st3lla that's good to know. When I felt like I was having contractions the other night, he was moving like crazy!
Yeah, when I asked the doc why baby was moving so much he said "wouldn't you be moving if your house was shaking!". I guess I had never thought of my uterus as baby's "house" so thought it was pretty cute and it did make sense. Must have been feeling like an earthquake in there!
Currently sitting having an NST and discovering that I actually am having contractions ... That I am not really feeling. So there's that. After getting a whole speech on how I'll know it when I have them from the doctor.
@TinaTho : I was in the same situation a few weeks ago when I went to L&D for a fever and generally feeling unwell with some cramps. The nurse looked at me (kind of freaking out, I was 35.3 weeks I think) and said I was having contractions every 2 minutes. I was told I handled them like a champ. Well fast forward to last night, I started having some more serious ones but only every 10 min or so...I'd say about half of them hurt (the ones starting like menstrual cramps). Others I'm still having a hard time timing. So I guess when they're 'real' ones we're supposed to feel them?
I am so sick of false labor playing it's devil tricks on me. Last night I was up for 2.5 hours with contractions that got to 6 mins apart before stopping completely. Now, I've been having contractions since 2:30 and they're about 10 mins apart but not entirely consistent and I'm just waiting for them to stop because I just know that they will.
Checked into the hospital at around 2am last night, after laboring since 7:30pm. Contrax were about 3 minutes apart and fairly painful. Got my epi at 9am at 4 cm dialated, which slowed down contrax, so now I'm waiting for pitocin to do its job.
@LadySamLady : in the same boat here...totally thought last night was going to be it, and then I went to bed hoping to get a bit of rest in case things got serious and everything calmed down. Super calm day...and now having painful contractions again (and DH is starting to believe me because I'm making faces). Not cool baby, not cool...
