I just ate a ginormous mint shake from Culver's. My husband brought it home and I topped it off with whipped cream. I think my stomach has tripled in size.
Had eggs and sausage for breakfast. A healthy granola bar for snack, a salad for lunch and then...... Blooming onion at outback steakhouse for dinner (with steak and pork chops, too). :(Totally messed that one up.
I had an entire thing of nachos for lunch and was still hungry did well at dinner though - made a French vegetable soup which was delicious and super clean.
@mnkenned french vegetable soup sounds so good! Good job to everyone who got some exercise in! Question- how often do you weigh yourself? I've been weighing in once a week but get so frustrated and upset at the number that it puts me in a bad mood the rest of the day. I'm thinking about forgetting the at home scale the rest of the pregnancy and only letting the doctor tell me if something is worrisome with my weight. That makes me a little nervous though because what if it gets out of control between appointments?

I'm crazy and weigh myself everyday. I do NOT recommend doing this. You will drive yourself crazy! I think once a week is good - try to do it under the same conditions (same clothes or lack thereof, same time of day, after BM, etc., etc.).
I should take my own advice.
July BMB Siggy Challenge: Weird Hot Dog Situations
I'm definitely following this thread! Currently I'm in the recommended weight range, but being overweight to begin with is really making me try and watch it. I exercised before pregnancy but I'm just so tired all the time and when I finally do get energy I just want to clean my house
had my 24 week appt this morning...gained 5lbs in 4weeks. the doctor said that it was "acceptable" or "fine" or some other innocuous word, but my crazy brain thinks that if it really was fine he wouldn't have said anything at all.
@hreed7289 i weigh myself almost every day for the first week or so after an appointment, but then i have a couple particularly indulgent days and i get scared to step on the scale again.
i am so sleepy and want to nap during DS's nap, but i'm going to make myself do some weight lifting instead.
@betheliz I had my appt yesterday and I gained 4 lbs since last month. My doc didn't say anything but I was jumping for joy because that was a whole lot better than last month when I gained10! I'll take that as a victory!
Not trying to be rude - but honestly weighing yourself more than once a week is a little crazy if you get scared of numbers. I don't suggest it. Between water retention, bowel retention (constipation anyone?), and just normal weight flucuation your weight can very 1-2 lbs in the course of the same day. I recommend weighing yourself once a week (or every other week if you get really nervous about it), but wearing the same amount of clothes at roughly the same time. For instance, I weigh myself in my underwear, before breakfast, Saturday mornings.
And as hard as it is ladies - try NOT to obsess over the number! You are growing a human!

Other blogs that have great healthy recipes are Emily Bites and LaaLoosh. I personally would rather eat smaller amounts of real food then a ton of low fat fake sugar food. I find that to be more filling and nutritious.
@sboston06 I totally agree, that's why I love skinnytaste recipes. It's all real food! My favorite is the baked chicken Parmesan. Mmmmm. I'll have to check out the recipe blogs you mentioned too. Thanks!
Made it on the treadmill for the first time since stomach flu. Wasn't too bad getting back into it.
I also weigh myself daily, but I expect it to fluctuate. Gives me a better idea of if there is a trend in a certain direction. Once a week and I might catch myself on a bad day and freak out more.
When people have asked how I'm doing/feeling/how the baby is, I just reply, "always hungry". I love making "hacks" for what are supposed to be bad foods. My biggest craving have been pina coladas. Well I found the most amazing hack: 1 part Coconut yogurt (I found Liberte to be the BEST) 1 part pureed pineapple chunks (I just get pineapple in the can; make sure it's in pineapple juice and NOT heavy syrup!) mix together, add a few ice cubes and blend!
I also love Hungry Girl who is known for having low calorie meals you can eat multiple portions of.
Ahh @Racso12 Culver's?!? You're one of the Sconnies (Wisconsiners) aren't you? Ugh I hate you right now! Love Culver's so much. (DH has family up there so we visit somewhat regularly)
I echo everyone who says meal planning is hard. My problem is my 3 year old DD doesn't eat all the same things (we do our best, but there are certain foods she won't touch), and then DH has his own diet thing going that isn't appropriate for me right now. But I should probably get back to prepping some basics for myself, like batches of boiled eggs or prepping my own greek yogurts with fruit for breakfast on the go, rather than buying a breakfast sandwich.
I am going to the gym at work today after almost a week off...so there's that.
I've been lurking mostly but I'm finding this super helpful. For me it's ALLL the sweets. I've eaten 2 different types of ice cream today. Yesterday I was going to bake cookies and instead just ended up eating the dough (no eggs, but still). I do feel like all my weight gain is in my belly and chest so far but I still worry about it being a healthy rate.
I had a rough morning when I stepped on the scale and gained 5 lbs in the last 2 weeks! Yikes!! I think I'll try some of the tips from the GD diet.
Anyone else struggling with a cramping feeling while running? This keeps happening to me when I get past a mile, so I slow to a walk. It's just frustrating since I was able to run during my last pregnancy.
@KJ1416 I had when I did I started to slow my pace and make sure I was increasing my water. I just walk now but that is mainly because of my hip issues I think as long as the cramping subsides and you had been running this pace before you were pregnant you should be okay. All our organs are playing Tetris so I'm sure some cramping is normal
also on an unrelated note I said no to pizza tonight and ate fruit instead I feel this is a pregnant victory !
@KJ1416 - thinking about the possibility of running a mile just made me lol. I have to run from one side of my hospital to another when there's a code and I almost died on the last one! I feel like I get winded just talking these days.
@KJ1416 YES! I started having issues with running and cramps/RLP/ALL THE PAIN around 20-21 weeks. I bought a support belt and it solved all those issues. I still not infrequently get bladder punched/kicked which makes running scary (haven't wet myself but crossing fingers and knocking on wood I can last another few months before I do), but it was a total necessary for me. I went with the Gabriella Medium Support as it had really great reviews plus stories from local PG running moms, AND it was one of the lowest priced. I think it was a great idea. I would go to their website for a sizing chart, rather than Amazon's though. Also - I wear it upside down (the taller part down towards my butt) while running to minimize chafing, but rightside up for regular non-sports use.
I did a lot of research, feel free to PM with any questions, etc.

Instead of having an ice cream sandwhich for dessert, I went with vanilla bean Greek yogurt from trader joes. Best decision I've made all week. Seriously, if you haven't tried this yogurt, you don't know what heaven tastes like.
I had a delicious salad with grilled salmon on top last night for dinner with a slice of 100% whole wheat bread. It was really tasty, plus, I felt good afterwards. I didnt get that extremely full feeling I get being pregnant. It was worth it.
For dessert I had some frozen cool whip with some blue berries.

This! I have really bad asthma so I get winded running anyways, but pretty much since the second tri started I have been getting winded over every little thing! I'm glad I am showing now because before when I just looked chubby it was almost embarrassing that I was out of breath from having a conversation. It makes working out interesting....
Dammit, I weighed my self this am. I am up 2.5 pounds since the 9. So 2.5 pounds in 7 days. I am 2.5 under my PP weight still. I want to gain, just not a whole bunch every week. I need to slow my roll.
I have been tracking my food for a week now, and I am feeling (overall) so much better....even sleeping better at night. All of my meals have become healthier, and I have made sure to leave the last 150-250 calories every day, for something fun and unhealthy....so I don't feel deprived. Now I just need to get my rear in gear with some sort of work out.
I also found that it helped to get a new water bottle. I was drinking out of one of my water bottles that didn't have measurements, so I was guessing at how many ounces it was and felt like I was filling it up at a lot. I happened to find a 40oz water bottle at Fred Meyer (Kroger for the rest of you ladies!), that still fits into my cars cup holder, so I don't feel like I am walking around with a Big Gulp cup (those things are massive!). I shoot for drinking a minimum of two water bottles full a day, and then anything after that is a bonus. I am now between 100-120 ounces a day (which I know I wasn't getting with the other water bottle).
*The water bottle is the Reduce Hydro Titan (if anyone was interested in it). I found it online and it says "backordered", but Amazon had them. However, the reviews on Amazon say that it isn't 40oz and is really 24oz, so I think someone is slipping them a different water bottle when they order. I used a liquid measuring cup to see if it was 40oz, and not only is mine 40oz, but there is still room at the top to add another 2oz or so. I am seeing prices all over the board (between $10-$20) for the 40oz one, but I paid $8 for it.
@RideNRunMomma I have the same belt from my last pregnancy! I'll have to start using it again. I was a little hesitant since I'm carrying lower and didn't want to squish the baby.
@dolewhipper that's it I'm having it for breakfast tomorrow @PhoebeJune1984 awesome job that's way better with the water than I'm doing @lolomommy1 that sounds super healthy yay!
i had a ton of vegetables today and my activewear order from old navy came in so I finally have something I feel cute in for exercise which really helps
So I have been trying to slow down my weight gain. Everything had been going well in the past 2 weeks (eating more carefully slowed weight gain)...I weighed myself yesterday, and all was well...Stepped on the scale this morning and gained 2.5lbs in 24hrs?!?!? Normally I wouldn't worry about it as I know this could fluctuate, but I have my doctors appointment today. . . Yay!
How strict is everyone's dr office when you get weighed in? Mine never has me take off my shoes or coat. So in December I was in my winter coat and boots but now when I go I'm in either a light jacket or no jacket and shoes like Toms. According to their notes I've gained 9lbs but according to my home scale it's more like 14-16. That's a big difference!
I always take off my coat and shoes. I don't think my doctors office is very strict on it, I just personally don't want to see a bigger number on the scale because of clothing if I don't have to.
@DrKariC How do you feel about the quality of the old navy active wear? I was on the fence on ordering some. Also, did you order your regular pre-maternity size?
@kellz14 I recently ordered some of the maternity compression capris from Old Navy. The quality is good but I do seem to get hotter because of the panel over the stomach. The pants major bonus though- no camel toe with the pants. With my regular workout pants this has been happening even though they other places. The panel is also nice if you want to wear an exercise support band because then you don't have to have it directly on your skin.
Re: Ideas/Support/Love for Mommas Who Want to Slow Weight Gain
did well at dinner though - made a French vegetable soup which was delicious and super clean.
