Any musicians or anyone who has friends or a partner who is?
Do you think it's weird for someone to listen to their own cd in their car? Over and over. I'm really annoyed by someone doing this and I feel like its narcissistic and weird. Wondering if I'm just being a hateful bitch lol.
@kjo79 I dated a musician a while ago. He wouldn't listen to his music once it was recorded. He wouldn't let me listen to it around him. That's the only "normal" I know.

Thank you!!!! This is what I think as well. It's driving me insane.
I tried to to change my user name. I hate my user name and for people who know me irl it's pretty easy to figure out who I am on here if they decide to look. I went to the knot and changed it on there but it looks like it's still showing up the same. Any suggestions?

For those of you who don't have access to tots (I am so sorry), I think an almost acceptable runner up would be cheesy fiesta potatoes from Taco Bell. My college drunk food.
I haven't gotten caught up on this thread yet (I have 142 to go, wow!) but I had to drop in tonight and tell this little fun tale: Had all my family over for my mom's birthday celebration tonight, and my brother's girlfriend, who is kind of an abrupt person, was one of the first people to arrive. First thing she says to me? "Wow, you've really packed on the pounds...no offense." Um...riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

I would have socked her in the face. Lol. This is exactly what I'm fearing at any family event with one of my aunts. No filter.

Well I mean she said no offense, so I don't know why you're offended. Ugh. Eye roll.
I went to a birthday party today also and my cousin's fiancée (she's 12 weeks pregnant) told me, "Wow. I can't believe how much bigger you are than me" to which I replied, "Well, I'm twice as pregnant so you know...." *shoves face full of Doritos*
She didn't talk to me the rest of the afternoon, lol.

Because saying "no offense" gives you a free pass to be an ass. Wow.
@parsonsperson - I'm impressed that you but only didn't punch her in the face (or some equivalent) but you then only referred to her as "an abrupt person". Some other choice words came to mind when I read that. Some people need a filter!
Is there anyone willing to talk with me in a private group about abusive relationships and the sort? I really need some advice and support and I'm not quite comfortable putting it all out on this group because I don't want the wrong person to potentially see it. If so please message me. I looked on the private groups but I didn't see anything and I value the bonds we have created here. It's not the real moms and moms to be from our birth month I'm not wanting to see, I just want to be hidden a bit better with this issue.
Had a relative ask me today if I was sure I had 3.5 months left...because I'm so big...I 've only gained 6lbs so far
I've gained about 1-2 pounds (overweight to begin with) and my stomach is huge. Pregnancy changes the shape of your body! It's not a comment on your weight. Also, I choose to look at it as a really good thing. If my stomach is huge (and it is) but I only gained 1-2 pounds, that means I am smaller somewhere elseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Oh I know. This is number 4 in 5 years. She just chose a really bad time to say it it. In private would have been fine, but in front of most of my family and complete strangers for my cousins shower, not cool.

Also, regardless of the what she meant vs said, I fully support you throwing a hot pan of cheesy tater tots on her.
PS - for all those young kids born in the 90s... I am sure you'll never get the same warm feelings from this like the old ladies in here. Just like you missed out on all those 80s movies...
Ha! I haven't watched Fuller House yet but I grew up in the 80s and it still really weirds me out a little to think of women born in the 90s having kids because I'm just having them now. Even though I know I'm an older FTM and your 20s is a perfectly acceptable time to have kids...it just does for some reason (probably because I still see myself as young even though I'm mid-30s here).
I can't deal with the fact that people born in the 90s are like, adults. It makes me feel ancient.
I was getting my daughter dressed recently and put her in a hockey t-shirt with a player's name and number on the back. My mind wandered to "I wonder why he picked 97--OH MY GOD IT'S THE YEAR HE WAS BORN" and I almost died of old age right there.
I haven't fully caught up for the weekend yet, so I"m sure we are waaaayyyyy past this topic now, but this made me laugh because I made DH cancel his playboy subscription a few years ago when I noticed all of the centerfold girls were born in the mid/late 90's....eww! "That makes you an official creeper, no more"!!
Fuller House...I am torn. I embraced the campiness of the pilot, having been warned, but I didn't really get the feels from it, and I could not WAIT for Jesse to stop singing--ugh, when they all joined in!!!! (don't hate me, @NicknShan !) And for the life of me, why writers cannot insert plot exposition without relying on ridiculously loaded expository statements, I'll never know. No one would ever naturally walk into a room and say, "Wow, Dad, you must be so excited to be moving to Los Angeles tomorrow so you can host your very own talk show!" the day before the move was supposed to take place.
But I'm still going to watch the entire season. So...yeah.
And @junebabyjoy@sdLindenberg@ahernandez16 RIGHT?!?! I kinda wish, in retrospect, that I had called her out when she said that ish, but this was my face:
@parsonsperson - I know the feeling. I was getting into an elevator with some friends and when I got in one of the girls said "Everyone make room for wide load"....WHAT. THE. EFF.
I have come up with so many responses since I got in my car and drove off that would be perfect but in the moment I just stood there and blinked in complete shock. People can be a-holes.
ETA: I just read the pot thread. Anytime someone's sole argument for something is that "it's natural" I just think of my 91 year old grandmother whose response is "Shit is natural and we don't eat that". I am all for natural remedies, supplements ,etc. but you need to have more to go on then just the natural aspect especially when you have a tiny human growing inside you.
This weekend at a work dinner, a random slightly weird young woman no kids told me: you know you can have wine when you are pregnant... Anything else you want to lecture me on noob? She then proceeded to talk about how she always wears heels when she is holding other people's babies. *eye roll*
I was feeling stressed last night about our ongoing battle with my toddler's GERD and her refusal to eat anything other than blueberries and buttered toast (and related poor weight gain). Tried to find some websites that had more info on reflux than "most children grow out of it by 6 months" (good for most children!) or "avoid alcohol and caffeine consumption (oh, now you tell me not to give my toddler coffee and beer!) and found a great one, but probably shouldn't have clicked on the "diseases that can look like GERD" section because I was up all night stressing about all the horrible things that could be wrong with my kid. Aaaaaaaaaargh. Going to be a long 7 days until the next Dr's appointment.

Ugh...I am so sorry that your LO is not feeling well. The internet rabbit hole is a scary scary place! I know as a young child I started suffering from repeated bouts of what very much seemed like and presented like GERD. In the end it was determined that mine was related to feelings of intense anxiety. I am hoping for the best for you and your LO. Does not sound like an awesome time for either of you.

@egirl1025- I'm curious if you could give me some tips. Our son has had GI junk for FOREVER, and he does struggle with extreme constipation and other junk. However, I've noticed he's always complaining of his tummy hurting, and it's usually in regards to school/nervousness (he's 6). We've tried all kinds of dietary modifications and haven't seen any changes, so I'm wondering if it's mostly anxiety presenting as digestive junk and he just doesn't have the vocabulary to identify it. Any ideas or tips?! Thanks in advance!

For me early on it was school nervousness as well. Since I was young I didn't know how to describe my feelings very well either and just thought I was eating something that continually made my tummy upset. I would recommend trying to find the best way to talk to your son about what is worrying him or better yet how school makes him feel. Help him understand what it is that is making him not feel good. It is hard for little ones to understand and express themselves so the more tools you can give him the better. I also found that having a good routine helped immensely...and that things that messed with the routine were triggers. Finding proper coping mechanisms is key. For myself this would be listening to my favorite music, taking a 2-5 minute mental time out and I guess what some would call a mantra of telling myself that I will be okay and make it through. I would like to say that I have completely outgrown these tendencies, but I now have a better understanding of myself so it is easier to make it through anxious times with only mild repercussions. I hope he starts to feels better soon!!
@egirl1025- thank you!!!! We've been working with him to find out what's bothering him and he's been having some challenges at school, so it's not surprising. Thank you for the ideas!!!

I would like to take a moment and commend every person on the Meal Plan Monday board! I have obviously not become domesticated enough to make this a reality in my life...my weekly meal plan is as follows...a bowl (maybe two) of Special K everyday, unless DH decides that he would like to feed me something else. I wish I had the chops for meal planning...it seems so sensible and yet unattainable for me.
@egirl1025- I heart meal planning. I usually do two weeks at a time. If it seems overwhelming, do a day or two at a time and then work up from there. I pin all the recipes, then open them all up (I typically try to do dishes that will use similar ingredients so I don't need to buy a huge bunch of cilantro to use one tablespoon), and make a list of everything I need.
@egirl1025 the app anylist has been a big help for my family too! You can save all of your recipes and easily make grocery lists from it.
I didn't meal plan like this until I started working 9 hours days and realized I couldn't feed my 2 yo cereal for dinner every night. My husband travels for work, so he normally isn't around. So, before DS, I never had to meal plan. Now it is essential to ensure I can get my kid food on the table... and I can't do weeknight meals that take longer than 30 minutes or so, or we will be eating into bedtime since we don't get home till 6.
So, no worries is what I am saying Enjoy it while you still can!!
@MamaNicoleof3 & @NicknShan Thank you so much for the advice...I should start practicing now! At this point my DH is convinced that our children will starve. I did make tacos Friday and Sunday...I guess at least I know how to cook...one step down.
@egirl1025 - Don't feel bad. I used to be AWESOME at it. This week, I got through 4 days and gave up... I'm out of town for work 2 of the 4 days, so realistically, I planned 2 meals and 1 of them is Breakfast for Dinner. I'm calling it a win.
Thanks ladies. We haven't had any diagnostic tests yet which sort of stresses me out (although from what I've read it's normal to just treat reflux based on symptoms) but also the tests themselves sound horrible so I'm not super keen to put her through all that. At this point I just need some good solutions though. Her sleep disturbances in particular are brutal and I'm terrified at the prospect of dealing with a crying/puking toddler all night while I have a newborn too. Fingers crossed we're doing better by June!!
