  • Can we start a bachelor thread? Omg I need some one to talk to! :#
  • @Nerdchild omg!! My DH says he was a PITA to his mom also.

She had to get an emergency c-section cause he was too big vaginally and during her recovery time there was a nurses strike. Everyday she had to get up and walk around with her incision to get formula and other things that she needed by herself. She ended up tearing her stitches several times and having an infection. It's all his fault lol

  • @Nerdchild did your mom poop on the table? Because then I'd *definitely* call you a party pooper!
  • @juliagulia38 there's a "January Entertainment" Thread
  • @chanfa Omg, there is now a new pregnancy nightmare knocking around in my brain! Lol. That's horrible, and I'm crossing my fingers for you that your baby is small enough to prevent a similar situation for you!

@quartz02 I don't know if my mom would ever admit to pooping on the table, but I love the 'party pooper' image.
  • haha sorry @Nerdchild =) I think they have ways to stop that from happening now

Okay, super random and not pregnancy-related, but I believe that a few of the ladies on this BMB work for "the Mouse," and a whole lot more that have been to Disney World. I'm a volunteer wish granter with Make-a-Wish, and I am sending one of my wish kids and his family to Disney World this Sunday. He's 5, and his wish is to meet Mickey Mouse. I unfortunately don't get to go with him and his family for the wish, but I am trying to make his experience as special as possible. I know Mickey and the other characters wander around each of the parks, but I want to do something to ensure that he gets a chance to meet Mickey. The family is given a daily allowance for meals, but I don't think it will cover one of the character meals; additionally, I don't think the mother has the funds to spring for it. SO, I figured this might be just the thing, that he wouldn't get to do otherwise, to make his experience that much more magical. Any recommendations for what spot is best?? I'm not confident in my internet searches to date!

"What happens when you combine the magic of meeting Mickey Mouse in person with Disney World's FastPass+ program? You get a great way to meet your favorite Disney character without waiting in line!

Guests visiting the Magic Kingdom theme park can stop by Mickey's new greeting spot, the Town Square Theater, located just to the right of the railway station as you enter the park.

Not only will visitors get a chance to meet Mickey Mouse in person (and tour his dressing room "behind the scenes"), but they won't have to wait in a long line to do so.

Simply visit the FastPass+ machine located next to the theater, then come back at the appointed time."

^not sure if they still do a FastPass+ but Mickey was in that spot when we went earlier this year. A lot of the other characters were over by the Goofy roller coaster (The Barnstormer). DD loved that ride and meeting the characters. She was still 2 at the time so not too scary for a 5 year old.

ETA: "earlier this year" means 2015... My brain is mush

I was friends with Belle for a few years at Walt Disney World. I'm not exactly sure who to contact but I know for make a wish they do special meet and greets. Belle did a few of them and they were a magical experience. Some of them were heartbreaking, the parents knew it would probably be their last trip as a family and it would take everything in you not to cry along with them. Those were some of the most magical years of my life!

I am no help, but I just always love the phrase "I was friends with so-and-so." It makes my Disney lovin' heart happy.
  • @Shelby00519 there is a thread on page two (if your mobile) on how to gif. Pretty sure it's titled "how to gif from mobile". It's very helpful.

  • My random thought after reading this: how can anyone NOT love Disney? DH never saw a single Disney movie as a child and his family is anti-anything Disney. So I make a point to talk about how we're going to take our children to Disneyland, Disneyworld and probably a Disney cruise whenever they're around bc I want my kids to have a magical childhood.

I don't really love Disney (ducks for cover). I'm not necessarily anti-Disney, but I'm not into it. We lived in Southern Florida for my elementary school years so we went frequently and it was super great, but I don't think that it needs to be a part of a kid's life in order for them to have a "magical" childhood. I know plenty of people who had no exposure to Disney who had absolutely magical childhoods. We might eventually take our kids because my SIL/BIL are super into it and at some point a family trip might be fun, but it's not something that is high priority.

  • I absolutely love Disney! I grew up in Tampa going once a month for weekend and staying at Fort Wilderness and working there was amazing. Now that I live in Minnesota I make a point to go once a year, H and I are going in March and still debating if we're going on a Disney cruise or just WDW for our first trip with our little one August 2017. I have so many magical memories of my childhood that took place at Disney and we'll continue going once a year as a family so hopefully my kids have some of those same memories :)
  • We honeymooned in Disney. We had hoped to take DD this spring before baby and ended up needing to buy a new car so it is not in the budget. We are hoping for Fall 2017 as well with a 1 and 3 year old. I haven't been since 2010 and I miss it so much! I own most all of the Disney movies and can't wait to share with DD when she's a little older.

@elenabrent solidarity sister. And I agree that my kids can have a magical childhood without being taken to an overpriced, hot, crowded theme park.

We plan to take our kids frequently to the village my husband's family is from in Italy like my inlaw's do for the other kids. Pretty magical in my opinion with no characters in sight.

Our goal is to see as much of the world as possible and experience other cultures. I know this will look different with small children. Europeans manage to do it all the time and we will try to do the same.

  • I do believe children can have a magical childhood without Disney, but in the case of my inlaws, my DH didn't have much of a childhood experience and the anti-Disney put me over the edge. And I can't wait to go to the parks, but I see the overpriced, crowded point. But not a single Disney movie? That just made me sad.
  • I love Disney. I didn't get to go until I was an adult, but it was totally worth it. We went to Disney World for our honeymoon. And then we took the kids to Disneyland a couple years ago. We're hoping to take them again (to DW) next summer. I know it'll be hotter and more crowded in the summer versus the September trip DH and I had, or the February trip with the kids. But it wasn't super crowded either of our trips. We didn't wait in any crazy lines or anything. And the food is awesome. Plus, we met all the characters. (When we went without the kids, I had the Princesses FaceTime my DD back home.) It's definitely magical.
  • My username says it all; I don't work for the mouse but I sell his tickets (and give him cheese) and visit regularly. I blame my mom. I was supposed to get a tattoo of a mom and daughter walking with the little girl wearing Mickey ears from an epic watercolor artist but I got preggo so it's put on hold.

oberkfellquartz02 said. Mickey talks to you now (kind of creepy if I do say so myself). Keep in mind the characters do not "wander around" like they used to; all of the Fab Five have designated areas they can be visited at or they can be seen during the parade.

Are they staying at Give Kids the World? I love that place; it truely is MAGIC.

  • @Taymiller here are my leggings. I got the two heart ones and cupcakes in the mail today! :) I have no clue what shirt to wear. I want something that covers my vag and butt. :#

Drool! You have three of my unicorns. I had such a hard time trying to get the green snowflakes. Sadly I didn't score any Christmas ones. Maybe I need to add more consultants. Haha
  • I have a few pairs and beyond maternity they're the only leggings I can still wear without wanting to die because it's too tight on my middle. And they're all adorable. The party I went to only had a few options in the tall variety, so I was limited.

  • The doctor seemed to push on my lower stomach pretty hard. Today I felt a little sore. Anyone else ever experience this? I know the doctors know what they are doing but it still made me nervous. I will be 17 weeks Friday. I am a FTM
  • @jlgriff11 You're fine. If it's that short of a time period, there's nothing to worry about. I totally feel you on heat tolerance. I cannot get my shower HOT enough. DH thinks I'm scalding myself. I think his showers are ice cold.

  • @jlgriff11 I'm taking a lot of baths too, a few a week. They're not scalding and I'm not staying in them for too long, but they make my whole body feel better so I'm doing it. I am LOVING rosemary & peppermint epsom salts. So so so good.

  • My ocd made me comment because it was at 999 :p but anyhow I love baths and I still take them. I just don't have the water as hot as I normally do and because it's colder I don't stay in as long. I broke my back about 5 years ago and this pregnancy is already giving me back trouble and a bath is a good way to help with that.
