I'm 5'3" and I use a Beco Gemini for DD and really liked it. She's almost 2 and I can still carry her in it, although I've heard from other people that they don't find it great for toddler use (she's quite small so maybe that's why I find it still works well for her). I got a woven wrap when DD was 11 months but she hated it I'm excited to use it for the new baby, hoping by starting right away they'll like it better than DD.
Do you have a local babywearing group? Check Facebook. Their purpose is to teach moms how to do it safely, share info, and let people try new carriers. They have a "lending library" where you can borrow various carriers and try them to see what works best for your body/lifestyle before buying.
Use caution though as some babywearing groups are better/more inclusive than others. In my previous community the group was awesome - they did lots of group walks and if a mom showed up with a stroller it was no big deal, it was more about supporting each other, getting out of the house, and spending time with other moms. The one in my current community is super pro-babywearing to the point that they're anti-everything else. They post invitations to group walks that specifically say "no strollers" which I find really obnoxious. I've never gone to a meet up here.
@DobbysSock I am a part of a baby wearing group on facebook but I have never posted on there and am a little nervous about it because they do seem to be anti-everything that's not a baby carrier... which really turns me off. I might just go in with a few ideas, use them as a resource, but then be done with it. I definitely don't want to spend $150+ on something I didn't even get to try on. The Beco Gemini was one that I heard is pretty good for those on the shorter side... so it will be added to the list. Thanks for your help!
Can I just say, holy shit this is going by fast! I had my second OB appointment today and everything went great. I got to hear baby's heartbeat and then my BIG ultrasound was scheduled for 6 weeks from now. Say WHAT?!
@MrsRo731 I saw a chick at the grocery store yesterday with her baby wrapped. She seemed about my height (5'2) so I asked her what she was using since it seemed to fit her really well. It was called the K'Tan or something like that. I did a quick search on it and it seemed to have good reviews, though I still want to look into it more.
ETA @ButterMyBiscuit right?! I had an appointment yesterday where I got to actually hear baby's HB for the first time, and scheduled my AS five weeks out. I'm definitley looking forward to being able to see baby again, but after that this whole pregnancy thing can slow down a little so I can plan more
GUYS. DD had a check up today for weight and height and we gained weight and inches! So glad. The dr isn't worried about her weight. She's a really active child so she burns a lot but MIL has made me really self-conscious/critical about her weight. Happy dance.
With my last pregnancy, I felt like my stomach muscles would never get back to a normal state. I've heard about wraps or braces (or WHATEVER they're called) that some women use to help those muscles go back more smoothly. Anyone else done this or know anything about it? I feel like after this baby, my stomach muscles will be too confused to find their way home.

I have heard about them and that they work if you get the right size. If you are interested I did find some exercises after PP that should also help shrink your ab muscles back to normal

I appreciate that. To be honest, I know there won't be a lot of time for exercise with two kids. I might stroll around the neighborhood but that's probably it, ha!

Those things scare me. Kind of like the new corset/waist training fad going on. Won't it just push your organs all around where they don't belong? I know I won't be the same and I'm just okay with that. I'll take the time to heal and then MAYBE (ha!) do some core exercises later.

No, these are different. I think they're more medical than anything else. They help guide your stomach muscles back to where they were..they don't intend to shrink your waist.
ETA: Also, certain exercises can make things worse.
@PinkLady2015 This is totally my plan! I've told my husband since before I got pregnant with my son that after we're done having kids, I'm going to get a tummy tuck and a breast reduction/lift. A good friend of mine had a tummy tuck and breast implants, so I have a good idea of how much money to start saving.
With DS I had a lot of abdominal pain in my first tri. It really was one of the main symptoms I had. My abs were literally spreading apart. Those wraps help them grow back together. The "condition" is called diastasis recti. and yes planks and crunches can make it worse. So this time I am definitely getting a wrap to help get my muscles back to normal.
I also saw my OB today and heard the baby's heartbeat! She reminded me before starting that it might take a bit to find it and she literally put the thing on my belly and we immediately heard it! So amazing! It's really in there!!
@ButterMyBiscuit@Singingmama10 do either of you know which brands/ones are more reliable? I'm curious about these and don't know where to start. I don't know anyone that has used one to ask

I'm been poking around the internet about this and have come across a few articles that say the bands actually won't do anything to help mend it back together and can actually cause the muscle and connective fiber to remain weak if youre not doing appropriate exercises to strengthen it again... maybe we can make this a separate thread and we can all do a little research and see what we come up with...

I'm not sure either. I only started the research after I realized that ab exercises were not working at all... and when I did a crunch I had a bulge literally going down the center of my belly... which is when the light bulb turned on and I realized I had it (and then I got ku again a few months later). I think the best thing you an do is certain exercises (not your typical ab work outs), but I am going to try the belt also.

You need to try planking.
Abdominal support bands will not help with the muscles or weight loss. All their day is support the waist as the incisions are healing, like from a C/s.

Planking actually makes diastasis recti worse . There are other exercises that help with it, but you first have to bring your muscles back together before you can go back to traditional workouts.
Edit: to add... I was not going to use the belt to lose weight. Obviously that would not work, but the purpose would be to bring the muscles back together. Oh... and to go back to what @PinkLady2015 said. I haven't ever heard that it can cause it to worsen... but I will do more research on it, before I buy one. Thanks for the advice.
I tried doing a search to see if this has been a topic of discussion, but I didn't find anything - anyone else have the same problem I do? I seem to pee myself everytime I cough or sneeze; each and every friggin' time - not a whole lot, just a trickle but I find it completely annoying as heck. I've never had this problem before giving birth to my first. Seems as though my muscles have weakened ever since. I addressed this with my OB and she suggested doing kegals to work out those muscles to make them stronger or 2nd option was to have surgery. Definitely no thanks to the surgery option but just wondering if others have found ways to address this issue other than doing kegals.

I want to hug you for posting this in here and not a new thread! So creepy Internet hugs and cheers to you! Also yes! This is my first but sneezing or puking i piddle a little bit! I've been working on core and leg muscles try and help this as I have no idea what to do for it.
@Lindsayleigh1989 Sorry to hear you have the same issue but glad to know I'm not the only one! It's so annoying. As a result, I've had to wear liners everyday to save myself from embarrassment for those random moments.
And yes, I thought for a moment about where to post this question. What better place than a 'random' thread for a random question!
@simplymizzj I'm sorry to laugh, but I just posted last night about a gag session making me pee my pants, so I promise I'm laughing in solidarity and commiseration. Welcome to club piddlepants.

I've secretly considered starting a cash fund... not for baby's college, but for a tummy tuck...

I promised myself I'd go to yoga after work and I'm sitting at my desk trying to keep my eyes open...
