Clara Elisabeth Due Sept 3 Born Sept 11 8 lbs 13 oz, 24 inches
I was scheduled for an NST this morning because of being a week overdue and not wanting to get induced. Baby had other plans! My water broke at 3am (amazingly, I woke up in time to make it to the bathroom!) but had a LOT of meconium in it. I called my OB's office and they told me to go straight to the hospital. We got there at 4:00 and were met by my sister and my doula. The nurse was concerned that we might need interventions because of the meconium, but my doula backed me up in insisting we wait til we were sure. As it turns out, we did not need any, and baby girl was born perfectly healthy at 2:35pm after a fairly easy labor. The only time I questioned my decision to go med-free was during crowning, and that was over so fast it really didn't matter. My doula was awesome, so glad I decided to get her! And my DH and sister were really helpful too.
The only difficult thing was, I delivered on my hands and knees, and they couldn't figure out how to hand me the baby because the cord was super short. So we waited a few minutes, with me still kneeling and baby behind my butt on the bed, and her crying and me not having even seen her yet. But then they got us turned, we waited some more for the cord to stop pulsing, and daddy decided at the last minute that he wanted to cut it. (Beforehand he was pretty freaked out about it.) That felt really special to me.
She is soooo beautiful, I could stare at her forever!!!
Raylan O'Rourke Hanke EDD: Sept 26th Arrived: Sept 11th, 11:56 am 6 pounds, 15 oz.
Sept 10th, went walking because this past week I was having early labor symptoms and I was trying to get things moving. I got home at about 6. Made a good steak dinner (I was craving it for days!!), and laid down on the couch. I'm telling you I took the best nap of my LIFE after dinner! lol When I woke up, I felt something "leak" a little bit. Stood up, and realized my water was breaking! Long story short, hubby and I got to the hospital. I was 1 cm dilated, and 80% effaced. Because I wasn't having normal contractions of my own, I was started on pitocin (holy hell!!!) Got an epidural (LIFE SAVER), and because of complications with baby's heart rate, I was told not to push, but go just let baby come down the birth canal on his own. Ended up that I could push at the end And it took 2 hours to push my man out! He was sunny side up, born with his head to the sky (ouch). I ended up being torn from one end to the other pretty bad But he is here! A healthy crying, breast feeding little champ!
Nina Elizabeth-Team Green now Team Pink☺ EDD-9/11 Born-9/10 7 lbs 9 oz 20 inches long I came in for induction at 630 am, I started out at 3 cm, 90% effaced and baby at zero station. Baby had some tachycardia issues in the previous weeks so Dr felt good doing an induction. I started pitocin at 715 am, Dr broke my water at 820 and immediately started with painful contractions. I decided to get the epidural early so I got that around 10 am. Was checked at 11 and I was still at 3cm , was checked by Dr at noon and I was at 5 cm. Nurse checked again at 3 pm and I was 8cm and fully effaced, then 10 cm by 430. I started pushing at 515 and I pushed and pushed and pushed. Dr came in and said baby's head was sideways. I tried pushing in every position, I had a light dose epidural so I could move around and get on hands and knees. I pushed for 3 hours, the last hour without pain medication bc my epidural came out. By the time dr came in to tell me it was time for a c section, I was 100% OK with it. We got into the OR and I had to get a spinal. It took them a while to get baby out because I pushed so hard and lodged her into my pelvis. We heard her first cries and they told us we had a girl and my husband and I sobbed and sobbed. She is doing great, a little fussy at night but breastfeeding is going really well. We love our little Nina girl. But recovering from a c section is no joke. Good luck mommies!
Ethan Montgomery EDD 9.9.15 BORN 6.21.15 2lbs 3.6 ounces 15 inches long
I was 27 weeks pregnant when I had gotten sick with preeclampsia. They flew my husband off ship to be by my side and I was induced on Saturday and delivered 28&4 on father's day, Sunday at 2:59pm. I spent 10 days in the hospital, and our little boy spent 65. We went everyday to he by his side as he fought long and hard! He is now just a week shy of being 3 months old and he now weighs 6 pounds 10 ounces! We are so blessed to be his parents!
Jackson Alexander EDD Sept 27 BD Sept 11 19.75 inches 7 lbs 15 oz Went into my appointment on Wednesday and my blood pressure was sky high so my doc sent me to the hospital to be monitored and run tests for 24 hours, upon discharge the nurse came into check my pressure one last time and it was the highest it had ever been. My doctor decided that the best thing to do would be to induce, so we did. I was only 1 cm when they started, they placed cervadil and a catheter since they also put me on magnesium and I was sooooooo uncomfortable. 12 hours after cervadil I was 3 cm and 75% effaced, they started a pictocin drip around 9 am, my water broke by itself around 3 pm, but I was still only 3 cm. By then I was already so tired and sore I asked for the epidural, and it was a LIFE SAVER. I felt almost nothing but 45 minutes of contractions towards the end. Around 5 pm they checked me and I was at a 6, so they wanted a dr to insert a monitor, upon doing that, they realized that I was at a 9 and baby was at 0! I did a few practice pushes and my doctor and midwife were there (my midwife in shorts and a tshirt) to catch him! The epidural made it so I didn't feel the pushing at all, so I had him out in 6 minutes! He's sleepy and lovey and BF like a champ. I didn't realize it was possible to love someone so much.
I was scheduled for an induction Tuesday mornning at 10:00am, but I woke up that morning have some strong contractions on my own. It took some time for things to get going. They didn't hook me up to an IV until noon and gave me my antibiotics for GBS. I continued to have contractions on my own. At 1pm they checked me for the first time and I was 4cm dilated and 70% effaced. They decided that they would just try breaking my water to see if that kick started things. They broke my water at 2 and got my epidural at 3pm which I was only 5cm dilated. I was progressing slowly and they were preparing for me to not delivery until the next morning. At 7:30pm they checked me I was only at a 6 by 8:30pm I said that my contractions were really strong and never ending. Even with the epidural I could still feel them, but it wasn't as intense and I still had control of my legs. I told them I felt like I had to poop. They checked me at 8:30 and I was at a 9, fully effaced and baby's head was right there. They prepped super fast and started instructed me on when to push. I felt the sensation to push but zero pain down there, which was awesome! I pushed with three different contractions and Alayna came at 8:46pm just 11 minutes of pushing. She let out a great scream. I had my mom, mother in law, sister in law, husband and best friend in the room along with 7 doctors cause she had pooped in her water sac, but fortunately needed no help.
We went home just 24 hours later as both her and I were doing great!
Woke up around 11:30. Had been having contractions around earlier in the night but didn't think much of it. It didn't seem like more than Braxton hicks. I thought maybe my water had broken but I wasn't for sure because it wasn't one big gush. Woke my husband up and he asked to take shower I told him to go ahead because everyone has always said things are slow for first time moms. By the time he was out of the shower and dressed I knew it was the real deal the contractions had really begun to intensify. Was in my l and d room a little after one and began vomiting before my admission was complete as the pain became so severe. I began asking for pain medicine right away but was told I'd have to be seen by the doctor first and have my iv in place. My husband was my rock as I was puking and holding my vomit bag. When the resident made it in to check me she thought I was already 10 cm and 100%. The on call physician was called in and in a flash my room was prepped for baby girls big arrival. When the physician made it in and checked me it appeared the resident was incorrect and I was only 6 cm. The first words out of my mouth were. Oh thank god! Can I have my epidural?! After the epidural things were a breeze and after a little over an hour of pushing and an episiotomy baby girls arrived at 6:31 am. She went 6 minutes without breathing and had to be resuscitated. Definitely the scariest 6 minutes of my life. She had to go to the nursery for monitoring but now a little over a week later she is doing wonderful and we are so in love!!!
Benjamin Ross EDD: 9/20 Birthday: 9/12 7 lbs 14 oz 21 inches
After my regular cervical check on Thursday I had some significant bleeding, after talking to the midwife I was told to go to labor and delivery just to get checked out. Loaded my bags in the car just in case and headed up to the hospital. After checking my bp multiple times it kept coming up around 145/105 and I was admitted for induction. I was already dilated 2-3 and 40% effaced. They started cervidil at 6 pm in hopes for ripen my cervix and get the baby to drop enough that they could safely break my water and get things started. After an incomfortable night of contractions I was checked the next morning and nothing had changed so I was put on pitocin. After 9 hours of contractions I was checked again and nothing had changed. I was so disappointed!!!
3 hours after they stopped the pitocin my body started labor on its on!!! And hour after contractions started I lost my mucus plug and about 15 minutes later my water broke! HOLY COW do things get intense after your water breaks!!! After only 5 hours and 15 minutes of pushing Benjamin was born at 12:29 am!!!
Abram Lucas EDD: 9/18 BD: 9/11 6 lb 15 oz 20 1/2 in
I was scheduled to start induction on 9/10. I was between 2 and 3cm and 50% effaced, stage -3. A foley bulb was inserted and fell out after about 45 minutes at 830PM. They waited until the morning of 9/11 to start pitocin. It was started around 7:30AM. I was almost 4cm 75% effaced and a stage -2 when it was started. I started having contractions 2 minutes apart not long after the pitocin was started. I was having pretty intense pain and decided to get the epidural around 12PM when I was almost 6cm. He broke my water at 1:30PM and I went from 6cm to 10cm, stage 0, and 100% effaced in 2 hours. I started feeling a lot of pressure and knew it was almost time. The nurse came in to check me and said get the doctor. They had things set up ASAP. The doctor walked in at 3:49PM and Abram was born at 3:53PM. 4 minutes- I pushed 2 times. I had to hold back just so he could get his gloves on. The placenta was delivered within 5 minutes. The epidural worked perfectly and I felt no pain. It was an amazing experience. We couldn't be more in love with baby Abram! Big brother Noah is absolutely ecstatic to have him here. It's the sweetest.
Good luck to all the mommas still waiting for their precious babies!
Adilynn Jade EDD: 9-21 BDAY: 9-11 19.25 in 6 lbs 1.7 oz born at 9:49 pm.
I dilated slowly til I hit a 5. After that I went from a 5 to a 10 in an hour and a half. Epidural worked so well, I basically laughed my little girl out.
Ellie Ann EDD 9.12 Born 9.9 @ 12:54am 6lbs 5oz 18.5in
Quite the birth story. I was admitted to the hospital for an induction at 7:30am on Labor Day 9.7. 12 hours of painless contractions and no progress I started Pitocin around 6:30 that evening. Come 8:30 the next morning I had my water broken. Things started moving from there and got an Epidural around 10:30am. It took 3 tries for the anesthesiologist to get it working but it was worth it. Around 9:30pm I was finally 10cm and 100% effaced and ready to push. Delivery was exhausting and so painful. It felt like the epidural stopped working but 3.5 hours later she arrived! Unfortunately, they had to vaccume her out and she had the umbical cord wrapped twice around her neck but she is perfect.
We did skin on skin right away but 20 mins later after my placenta was delivered they found it tore and I still had some inside so I was rushed to the OR for emergency surgery to remove it all. 1.5 hours later I was back with my little girl.
Recovery has been slow and we are struggling with breastfeeding so are supplementing with formula but on 9.11 we were discharged to go home. We are so in love.
Gianni Micah EDD: 9/9/15 Birthdate: 9/9/15 9 lbs 8 Oz 21 inches long
My water broke shortly after a routine visit with my OB. We talked about a possible induction due to me being so small and carrying a big baby and I was so heartbroken because I wanted things to go natural like I did with my first. Then wooosh, water broke. I drove myself quickly to the hospital and soon as I set myself up into a room contractions started.
I labored for 7 hours and reached 10 cm quickly. I had 4 pushes and my little man was born. All natural just the way I planned. I was so happy that it went my way because I didn't get to have that with my first. It is amazing what the human body can do.
He is a great breast feeder. He had a bit of jaundice but nothing too alarming. He is perfect in every way and his big brother is so excited to meet him.

Water broke around 6:30 which was something I did not experience with my first. After speaking with my doctors office I was advised to head in. Got to the hospital about 8:15 and by 8:45 they determined we were staying. We were scheduled for a repeat csection on Friday so they began the process to get us ready. 10:27 pm heard her first cries and after being cleaned up they brought her right to me. I began to feel nauseous at one point so she hung out with Daddy while I was overcoming all that. When we got back to the room we went to immediate skin to skin. Things are going great!

My (not so) little boy is here! Contractions started at 11pm on Thursday night and around 12:30am hubby and I were at the hospital. I was 2cm dilated and after sometime they decided to send me home. As a FTM I wasn't really sure at first if this was it, but people are right when they say "you'll know when they're real" and after about 90 mins of being home we were on hour way back to triage! Now contractions were about 2 mins apart and after checking me again I was 4cm dilated. We were taken to L&D and at 6:30 am I got my epidural, what a magical thing a little while later they broke my water and the waiting game began. By 1pm I had not progressed past 5 1/2 cm so they started pitocin to speed things up a bit. At 4:45pm I was ready to push and my LO was born at 6:01pm weighing much more then ultrasound led us to believe and he was sunny side up but overall a perfectly healthy boy. A few weeks ago I was told a c section was most likely how my labor would due to a small cervix, but I was very happy to prove them wrong and now I feel I could conquer the world lol
Now that i have a moment I'll briefly give my birth story lol
Woke up at 11 yesterday to my water had broken came straight to the hospital where they confirmed my water had indeed broken at first i was laughing at my contractions so the started the drip to intense them into more painful ones. Finally after i had maxed out the drip and was there for awhile they started hurting horrible pain from out of ni where so i got a pain medicine shot. However when he checked me since they were so painful i was stil completely closed which isn't the best news. Melody was still extremely high and no matter what we tried she wasn't budging and I wasn't dilated any at all so he gave me the option of csection which of course i took being worried if i did change she wouldn't drop still and i just wanted to do what I thought was best for her. On September 12 at 10:57 pm i had baby melody faye via csection (still no change and was still completely in my ribs so i made a good call) she weighs 9 lb 13 oz and is 21 and 3/4 inches long. She's wonderful truly amazing how great it feels.
Tenley Reese Ballenger EDD: 9/5/15 BDAY: 9/11/15 9lbs. 11oz! (9/11 on 9/11!) 21 in. Born at 4:31 PM
Our little angel made us wait until 6 days past her due date, but it was well worth it! Contractions started at 2:30 am on 9/11.. decided to head to the hospital around 5. Got to triage and was a 2-3 & 50% effaced. Doc gave me the option of going back home to labor for awhile or going on to L&D & getting some Pitocin to help speed things along. Since I was already overdue (& for a few other reasons) I decided to go on to L&D. Started the smallest amount of pit around 8:30. Things picked up around 9am & around 11:30am I asked for the epi.. that went pretty well! After that they checked me & I was a 5. Doc came to break my water at 12:30 & I was a 6 & fully effaced. After another hour & a half I was a 9. Another hour passed & I started to feel LOTS of pressure with each contraction, so doc came in and didn't even check me again, just decided to let me start pushing. Only took 23 minutes to push out my almost 10 pound baby girl & only needed one little stitch!! She latched immediately & started nursing like a champ. We were all so shocked at how squishy she was (big brother was 8lbs. 12oz. at 39 weeks) & we all had bets about her weight. Nobody expected that! She is perfectly healthy & absolutely beautiful. Our hearts are full! We are already home 24 hours later resting & soaking up all the love. :x
Edison Ray arrived at 40 weeks + 4 days! After 35 hours of labor, with 3 hours of pushing without him moving down, he was delivered via c-section at 6:54pm Tuesday evening. Weight 9lbs, 1oz and 21.65 inches long at delivery. We are so blessed and in love with this little guy. Wishing you all happy labor/deliveries!
Seth Richard EDD: 09/19/2015 Birth date: 09/13/2015 Born 2:36 AM 6 lbs. 13 oz., 21 inches
I was scheduled to go in Friday night for a Saturday induction because I have lupus and my doctor wanted to avoid any complications. We checked in and started cervadil on Friday night, but I didn't make any progress with it, so the doctor implanted cytotek at 10:30 AM on Saturday and labor began immediately. I couldn't take the contractions so I got the epidural and it was the best decision ever. Around 5:30 the baby's heart rate dropped and I wasn't progressing so the doctor broke my water and started planning a C section. As soon as he said the words, I dilated from 4-6 cm and baby's heart rate went back up. We continued to monitor my progress and I kept dilating so we went with a vaginal delivery plan. At 2 AM, I was finally at 10 cm and baby's heart rate was acting up again so we got ready to push. It took 18 minutes and 12 pushes from the time I started to the time he was born. We are so in love with our beautiful boy! He is in the Special Care Nursery to monitor his heart rate but we can hold him and spend time when him and I had a successful feeding this morning.
Johnny Danger Born: 9/9/15 EDD: 9/23/15 7lbs 8oz 20"
Finally getting around to an actual announcement. Contractions started around 10:40pm on 9/8. They started 20 mins apart. At around 12:30 they were only 10 mins-ish but they started really hurting in my lower back so I decided to go to l&d to soothe my mind. They checked me I believe I was 4cm and 80%, 1 cm more than my appt that morning they hooked me up to monitors for 20 mins and said that since I was 38 weeks I had to show change. They took me off and I was supposed to walk for an hour. I made it down the hall and had a contraction that sent me back into the room. I didn't like walking, I had a few more in the room that I just couldn't take anymore. The triage nurse wasn't the nicest but DH made her come back in to help, tried the ball with her pushing on pressure points and it didn't help the pain. I was looking pale so she decided to get an iv started. She hooked me up again and sometime when she left I felt gushing which I thought was just blood. When she came back in I told her and my water broke! I was then admitted and got my epi shortly after being transferred to the labor room at around 4am. The on call doc checked me and I think I was at around 5cm. I tried to sleep but was too excited. My in laws visited and then my actual Dr arrived and checked me I was about 9.5 at 6 am. 20 mins later I was a 10 and started active pushing. Johnny was born at exactly 8am! We've had some struggle breastfeeding so I decided to start pumping mostly for my sanity and so far it's going great. I love being a mom!
Nina Marie EDD: 9/2/15 Born: 9/12/15 Weight: 7lbs. 7oz.
Went to hospital at 8pm on Wednesday for scheduled induction due to being overdue and 0 dialated, high, and hard. I made no progress with Cervidil or cytotec, so on Thursday morning they inserted balloon catheter which helped me progress to 4cm. I was having very painful contractions and asked for epidural prior to starting pitocin drip. It was amazing and quick and painless to go in! My only problem was one side was more numb than other and it did have to be topped off a few times as it wore down which wound up giving me very bad shakes. Other than that I loved it and couldn't have made it through without it! After several hours I finally got to 10cm and it was time to push. I pushed for 1.5 hours but baby wasn't coming and I developed a fever. Then she started to go into distress. Doctor said it was time to try forceps and if that didn't work then a c-section. Thankfully she was delivered with forceps... Poor thing had cord wrapped around her body and head! She was not going to come out with assistance! I suffered a lot of blood loss and tearing so my skin to skin time was limited but now she's in my arms and it is the best feeling in the entire world
Went to bed last night feeling a few contractions. They stopped and I went to sleep. I kept feeling contractions in my sleep but unsure if they were part of my dream or if they were real lol. Finally got up around 5am and started timing when I realized it was NOT a dream. They were 3-4 minutes apart lasting for 30 seconds.
Hubby made up our bed with a tarp and sheets, set up and filled the birth tub, contacted the midwife and contacted his mom... all while contractions were coming on harder and closer for me.
I got in the tub and stopped timing contractions. Had a lip of cervix that was causing a ton of pain but baby worked around it and soon I pushed her head out into my hand. She had the cord wrapped around her neck which the student midwife quickly remedied and then baby was in my arms!!!
We are snuggled in my bed now, skin-to-skin. Midwives have left, our other kids are with MIL and I'm about to sleep!!!
Last Friday we went into the hospital for a non stress test to make sure baby's heart rate was still reacting normal to contractions. Test was perfect with 2 minor late traces that they didn't like. SO, at 7 am on the 4th I was admitted to the hospital.
First round of my induction using cervidil started at noon on Friday and FINALLY about 24 hours later, I was dilates 3cm and brought down to labor and delivery. I decided to get an epidural which was a god send. I was able to labor for about 8 hours in peace. At about 12:30 am on Sunday I started pushing, and an hour later our precious little Liam was born!
He was a big boy, so I left with a second degree tear, stitches and hemheroids, but am healing up nicely.
This first week has been full of emotions, anxiety, but mostly overwhelming love.
People will have seen me moan forever on how past my due date i was. 1 day before she was due to be induced my beautiful little girl decided to make her appearance. Was blessed with a speedy labour on only half an hour gas and air!
Friday afternoon I started having mild contractions 8-10min apart. Didn't think it was true labour, but hurried to clean the house just in case (for babysitter and MIL). Labour stalled for 2h when DH got home and called the sitter, MIL and doula to all be ready. I finished up my cleaning, put away the last baby items and laid down to nap (9pm) and contractions were coming 3min apart and increasing in intensity for an hour. Doula came over, we transferred to hospital at 1:30, after my water broke. I arrived 5cm and 90%. My doula gave the nurse my birth plan, and it was followed to the letter-totally unexpected and awesome. After an hour in the shower and finding my zone with swaying and low moaning, I reached a wall. I was scared and suddenly couldn't relax and really felt the pain. I knelt on the bathroom floor and cried out for my doula to help me. My nurse and doula half carried me to the room-worried I was going to deliver on the bathroom floor. Sure enough, Dr came in and I was fully dilated! A quick pep talk and they assisted me into a squat on the bed and I was holding my baby 10min later! It was the totally natural experience I had missed with #1 (I did unmedicated, but with no support, and had to argue through my labour to avoid interventions).
Adelaide arrived kicking (I actually stopped pushing and laughed in one contraction because as she crowned she started kicking as if pushing herself out-my belly was bouncing all over). DH announced it was a girl (team green) and we got to snuggle and bond for a couple of hours because they had to wait til shift change to move me.
She's nursing like a champ with a great latch. Minimal soreness (I only weaned #1 7 months ago, so maybe that helped) and my milk is already coming in at 1.5 days pp! We got early discharge because she was feeding so well, even though we live an hour away. So glad this baby is out of my belly and in my arms!!!
Husband convinced me to call labor and delivery today after feeling period like cramps all morning. I came in thinking I was just going to be sent home. Turns out I was 5 cm dilated and they admitted me right then and there. Progressed through labor quick and painlessly. Didn't feel anything too intense till I was 9cm dilated and then it was a little crazy!! But I started pushing and pushed for about two hours. I ended up having a natural and completely med free birth but did have to get an episiotomy so that will be no fun recovering from. Oh well, whirlwind of a day (4 hours from admission to birth) but couldn't be happier with my sweet girl!
Joseph Andrew EDD: 9/17 Born: 9/13 2:26 PM 7 lbs 7 oz 19" long
I started having real contractions (now I know what they feel like!) around 9 PM on Saturday. Labored all night with my body giving me a short break around 4 AM. Went into the hospital at 9 AM, was at 2 cm and 80%. The doc came in and checked me an hour later and broke my water. I was 3 cm and 90% at that point. After that, I received my epidural and Pitocin to ensure I kept progressing. Things went really quickly and wonderfully after the epidural! By 2:10 PM, I was ready to push, and with only 12 minutes of pushing baby Joseph was born! I had a 2nd degree tear unfortunately, so that took awhile to stitch up. We are so in love with our little nugget! He's eating like a champ when I can get him to eat (he enjoys sleep a lot!).
Waters broke Friday around 6pm followed by slow contractions that became quite painful. Went to the hospital found out I was only 1cm dilated! Went home to labour and contractions started easing off. Was booked in for an induction Sunday morning. Was 2cm so went straight on the drip and also found out I had group b strep so had to go on antibiotics. By 7:45 I was 5cm and by 11:30 no progress was given 2 hours to see some progress or it would be a c section. Luckily I ended up at 9cm and an hour later fully dilated and soon after I was ready to push! She arrived at 3:47am weighing 7 pounds!
Violet Matilda EDD 9/21 Born 9/11 @9:28p.m Went in Friday morning for scheduled induction for health reasons and they started me with the Foley balloon at 7 a.m. my first check I was only at 1cm so I had bounced on the yoga ball for hours. Once my water broke I felt so much better and we started piticoin. Within a few hours I was begging for an epidural but the anesthesiologist was stuck in surgery so I went for IV pain meds instead. Meds did not work and I could still feel everything and nurses did not believe me when I was saying I needed to push at 8p.m. last check at 7:20 I was only 5cm but I knew it was time. After screaming I needed to push they finally checked and I was right, baby was right there!!! Anesthesiologist made it and gave me a spinal since it was too late for epi and it was a lifesaver. Could still feel myself contract and about a half hour of pushing she was here!! No stitches needed and we are breastfeeding great with a nipple shield. (I have flat nipples) I never had a more challenging and rewarding day in my life and I'm so in love
Went to dinner and a movie date Friday night to see the Perfect Guy and all through dinner and the movie I was feeling uncomfortable. Got home about 12:30am and took a nice hot shower laid down and could not get comfortable finally fell asleep about 1:30am and woke up at 2:22 because I thought I was peeing on myself when I lifted up a big gush came and I realized my water broke went to the bathroom and saw my mucus plug in panties. Woke up my husband and headed to the hospital. Was only 2cm when I got there and even with the help of pitocin I didn't get to 5cm till almost 8pm once I got to 5 I quickly got to 9cm within 2 hours. At my 11:45 check my cervix was completely gone and my nurse said we could start pushing soon. Started pushing about 11:55pm and my beautiful baby came at 12:30am. 22 long hours of labor was definitely worth it to see her beautiful face.

Saturday I went to the community yardsale to walk the little man out. I walked for around 6 hours. Then we went out to Chick-Fil-La for lunch. After eating I went to use the restroom. I sat down and without peeing liquid came out. I went back the table very casually and said, "I don't want to worry you guys but I'm like 70% positive my water just broke." My mom told me I would know if it did, so I sat down and waiting for others to eat. As I stood up I realized yes indeed I would know, little man was on his way...eventually.
I called my husband and we had to go to the house to pick him up and our bags. Away we went to triage. Upon arriving at the hospital very calmly I walked up to the desk, they of course asked how they could help me, I replied my water broke a hour ago. After getting registered I was sent back to one of the triage rooms where they did confirm my water broke, only I wasn't having contractions.
About a hour after being in triage I finally was given a room in L&D. Since my water broke I was put on pitocin. Slowly it was increased until we reached 18 milliunites per minute. I recieved an epidural around midnight when I reached 4 centimeters. Around 3 or 4 the nurses and midwife (my doctor of course wasn't in town and unavailable to deliver baby) rushed in the room. Aiden was not dealing well with the contractions. His heart rate would drop too much. The very real possibility of a c section was on the table. If contractions and dilation didn't occur that's where we were headed. So pitocin was taken off and he was monitored.
Finally around 9 am after he stabilized we restarted pitocin. We were only able to take it back up to 14. His heart rate started to drop around 1 pm again! I was only given 2 hours to show signs of dilation or I was headed to the OR, since it had almost been 24 hours since my water broke. A hour later I was checked and had made it to 7 cm!! I was allowed on a lower dose of pitocin to continue dilate until 5:10 when pushing started.
Pushing him out was the hardest thing I have ever done. While pushing I developed a fever which spiked at 106. I only pushed for 14 minutes and was told to stop so the midwife could be there. By this point I was totally done and didn't feel well I was getting this baby out. He arrived at 5:24 weighing 8 lbs 5 oz, 21 inches in length with a 14 1/2 inch head. Originally in my ultrasounds there was a fear of his head circumference and possible water on the brain. But he was born perfect.
I did receive a 3rd degree tear, which isnt too much fun at all, but its ok he is wonderful and he is healthy. I originally told my mom she couldnt be in the delivery room, but she was with me when my water broke and my husband wanted her there. It turned out really well, it would have been more difficult without her. Also, I really didn't like my OB at all she is a real bitch and the midwife was awesome. If I didnt have the midwife I know I would have ended up with a c section. She really gave me a chance.
My doctor finally came in a hour ago and made sure to tell me I was not going home on narcotics. I have never failed a drug test and I haven't been taking them the entire time I've been in Mom and Baby. My nurse was in the room when she said that and said to my doctor, "She had a third degree tear you know?" The OB said yeah but my tomorrow she will be fine. I'm not complaining because I do have a decent pain threshold, but she made me feel like a drug fiend, when I have never given that impression. Teneloyl will be fine for me.
Even though this has been the most terrifying and painful experience of my life, watching my husband as I was sewed up was the most wonderful thing I have ever seen. I didn't even get to see his face until 30 minutes after he was born because they had to repair me. Its hard but totally worth it and I've almost forgotten the pain of it all.

Birth story.
It all started at my Thursday appointment I had a membrane sweep at 4 pm. I had nothing going on until Friday I had started losing mucus plug snd having very irregular and just a little painful contractions. I kept thinking it was the real deal but decided it was false labor or dehydration because every time they got painful they'd go away. And ever time I laid down for a nap or bed they stopped. Sunday evening I kinda have up and said its been 72 hours since my sweep sp it must not have worked. Idk if it was mentally giving in to the idea of being pregnant foe the rest of my life or what. At 4 am I woke up from a really bizarre dream to a pop noise I got up to the bathroom but no water breakage. Laid down and had some contractions and I just thought dang I must be really dehydrated so went downstairs for water and stated having a little trickle and then the contractions hit HARD. we just moved to our new house and wanted a home birth so we decided to have it at my parents house 45 minutes away so we started packing and my contractions were already 2-4 minutes apart and I was already moaning. I just kept thinking shoot I'm not going to be able to do this if my labor is 12+ hours! By the time we got to my parents I went straight into the jacuzzi had an hour more of contractions waiting for our midwife to get there. I started feeling pushy and Could NOT control my urge to push and started pushing before she was there. 3 pushes later our daughter was there! 15 minutes after the midwife showed up. She's nursing like a champ and transitioned really well hardly cried and had a great herbal bath right away.
LOVING life and truly amazed I had my home birth that isn't so popular in iowa so I'm pretty proud of myself and my new bragging rights. Our son was over due induced had an epidural and he was 10 pounds 4 oz sp this was a totally different experience.
Elizabeth Ann 6lbs 10oz 19 3/4 inches long born 442 pm on 09/05/15 edd 09/10/15.
I was scheduled for an induction on 9/11 after my 9/3 doctors appointment. My contractions started around 4 am and felt like severe menstrual cramps. They were initially 15 mins apart and by 730 They were about 5 minutes apart with a light pink discharge. When we arrived at the hospital at 930 contractions were 2 to 3 minutes apart. I was dilated to a 2 and 100 percent effaced but still at a -2. When the doc checked me I went from a 2 to a 3 and was admitted. They started pitocin around 1, did my epidural, and broke my water at 3 pm. I went from a 5 to a 10 in about 30 minutes and delivered her after about an hour of pushing. Her cord was wrapped around her neck but she began to cry after some stimulation. I planned on breastfeeding but due to my history of PCOS my hormones dropped off Sunday night and we had to put her on formula because she developed jaundice. She's doing well and thriving and I'm still pumping but it's not sufficient alone.

Due to high blood pressure, I was induced starting around 7pm on September 7 (Labor Day). Twelve hours later there was no change in my cervix. That's when they started me on pitocin to speed things along. Around 2 pm there was a sudden decrease in infant heartbeat and the only way to keep it up was to lie directly on my left side. It looked like a C section was eminent but when the nurse checked again, my dilation was complete! That's when things really started to happen. 15 minutes later, and a good bit of pushing, Lily was born. It turned out her cord had gotten wrapped around her neck and that's why when I changed positions her heat beat had dropped. Tests revealed that minus a bit of jaundice, she was healthy! Unfortunately, I was not. 48 hours after going into labor, I developed post-pardum preclampsia (a very rare condition) and had to be hooked up to magnesium sulfate for 24 hours and despite being on medication, my blood pressure remains high (and may continue to do so for 6-12 more weeks). Like many people on here, I did not develop any signs until late in my pregnancy (36 weeks). If you're not feeling well or something is off, make sure you communicate this to your doctor and get seen quickly!

Wildest most amazing experience of my life!!!! We got our VBAC!!! Odds were against us with broken water and stalled labor, but we were prayed up and thoroughly committed and now we are heading home with our healthy new boy 3 hours after he made his debut. I'm still weeping with joy. God is so good.
Sawyer James EDD Friday, Septmeber 18th Born Monday, September 14th 10lbs 14oz 21.5 Inches Long
Very long birth story-- short version: ended up having a c-section due to baby not engaging down the birth canal. Ended up being the biggest blessing imaginable bc we would have needed an emergency section regardless bc of his very large size! I'm amazed that I was carrying almost 11 pounds of baby!
Went in for a scheduled induction on Sunday night and had the balloon inserted. Contracted some throughout the night, but they tapered off. Balloon was removed and pitocin started around 6:30 Monday morning and I was at 4cm. Contractions gradually picked up, and I asked for the epidural when I was around 6cm. Nurse checked me again around 2:30, and I was still 6cm, and she warned me that the doctor was coming to talk to me about a c section. I immediatelyq lost it-- I was bawling uncontrollably and having a mild panic attack.. I've never had an IV before much less major surgery. Doctor came in and saw I was upset, checked again and said no change. She decided to wait until her other patient delivered about 1.5 hours later. She checked again and I was still thick and baby was still sitting at a -2. She then expressed concerns about his size even though the ultrasound said 7lbs 2ozs a couple id wheels ago. After talking it over with my husband, sister, and mother-- we decide the section is what is best and we do down for the surgery. They tried to use my epidural as anesthesia, but after giving me the max dose I could still feel sharpness. They decided I would have to go under completely and kicked my husband out of the room. I don't remember a thing, but woke up in recovery to everyone amazed at just how big our son was-- a whopping 10lbs 14ozs and 20.5 inches long. No one expected that!!
DH did skin-to-skin with baby for about 30 minutes before they cleaned him up since I was in recovery bc of the full anesthesia. I was out of recovery for about 30 minutes and they brought my handsome chunk back to meet me!
Now we've been through our first night together and he is breastfeeding some but also requiring formula until my milk arrives bc of his size.
I am beyond in love with not only baby, but also DH and my family. Although this was the scariest, most unnerving day of my life, it was also the most wonderful day!
I woke up from sleep at 1:15am Saturday night /Sunday morning needing to pee, noticed my underwear was wet and thought I peed myself. Changed and went go talk to DH since he was still awake. Noticed the new pair of undies were wet and told him I thought my water was leaking. We decided to have me lay down with a pad since I didn't have a lot and soon that was soaked. We headed off to the hospital and got to there around 2:45am. There were already several women there and I didn't get to see anyone until 3:30am. When I was checked I was only 1cm dilated with no effacement so when I got to my room I was immediately put on pitocin. I slowly progressed and my contractions were horrible by 6pm and I was only 4cm and 50%. I decided I had to get an epidural bc I knew I couldn't make it since I was progressing so slowly. It was the best decision I ever made! I got some much needed rest and reached 10cm around 3am. I pushed for two hours with little progress, rested an hour, and pushed for another hour. The doctor finally came in to see my progress and he determined baby girl was sunny side up and couldn't get past my pelvis. We tried coaxing her to turn for about 20 min then decided the best option to get her out was to use the vacuum or I would have a c section. About 20 more minutes of pushing with the aid of the vacuum baby girl made her appearance at 7:27am and the 30 hours of labor was all worth it!! Poor thing has some bruising on her head but overall is doing great. We are so in love with her and I'm so proud of my DH who was a great coach and is an amazing daddy.
I started having inconsistent contractions Sunday night at 8pm. They continued all night long allowing for no sleep. This continued Monday morning but they slowed down even more. By Monday afternoon they were still inconsistent but getting more painful. DH decided we should go in. When I got to the hospital at 5:30pm I was already a 6. I labored walking around for an hour and in the tub for an hour when the contractions were getting a lot stronger. Midwife checked and I was only at a 7 so we decided to break my water. 20 minutes later I was pushing through contractions and my precious baby was born at 8:52pm.

22 hours of labor ended up in an emergency c section. He had some trouble with his heart rate during contractions and we got to 9.5 cm before we just couldnt go any farther. My doctor and team of nurses were pretty kick ass the entire time.
We are doing well. Some trouble latching and slight jaundice may keep us at the hospital, but I'm hoping to go home today!

Sept 10th, went walking because this past week I was having early labor symptoms and I was trying to get things moving. I got home at about 6. Made a good steak dinner (I was craving it for days!!), and laid down on the couch. I'm telling you I took the best nap of my LIFE after dinner! lol
When I woke up, I felt something "leak" a little bit.

I came in for induction at 630 am, I started out at 3 cm, 90% effaced and baby at zero station.

Went into my appointment on Wednesday and my blood pressure was sky high so my doc sent me to the hospital to be monitored and run tests for 24 hours, upon discharge the nurse came into check my pressure one last time and it was the highest it had ever been.

Good luck to all the mamas! You'll be fantastic!
10 days late!

Went in Friday morning for scheduled induction for health reasons and they started me with the Foley balloon at 7 a.m. my first check I was only at 1cm so I had bounced on the yoga ball for hours.

EDD 9/8/15
Birthday 9/13/15 @5:24

Good luck everyone!!!!!

EDD Friday, Septmeber 18th
Born Monday, September 14th
10lbs 14oz
21.5 Inches Long
Very long birth story-- short version: ended up having a c-section due to baby not engaging down the birth canal.
