  • With whatever I ate, LOL went down at 7, I had to rock her at 8, up at 10:40, 1, 2:45, fussing at 4:15, up at 6. I just hope she poops today and feels better.

Hugs. I can't imagine how you're going to cut out another food item now.

After a 4 hour bedtime bonanza from 730-1130 last night, LO did mercifully sleep through to 630. Buuut then she wouldn't go back down. I went to bed at 1 (because I had to eat dinner and do my chores at effing 1130 last night), and was up from 4-430 pumping...I cried when she wouldn't go back to sleep this morning. Her sleep patterns have been disastrous all weekend. I have to go back to work a week from today. I'm scared I'll get fired for sleeping at my desk if this keeps up. Because I'm going to have to be up at 5 to get to work by 730, so if I don't go to sleep until 1...that is a nightmare.
  • Ugh back up at 2am. I looked at the clock praying it was 4 but nope.

I'm sorry :( I've done this many times hoping each night LO will wake up later and later
  • 13 weeks, and he's on a 7:30, 10:30, 1:15, 4:15, up at 6:30 schedule these past several days.
It gets better, it gets better, it gets better, it gets better, it gets better, it gets better... Right?!?!
  • Trying to transition LO to crib. I'm crying while nursing him right now because his screams were so heart breaking. All I did was go into the other room to put pj's on and when I came back he was unconsolable. This is sooo hard.

Stomach cramps, mad gas, and diarrhea. And I'm home alone with baby. That is all. :-S

ETA - I'm the one thusly afflicted with stomach ills, not LO. Bleh

Trying to transition out of swaddling. Pray for me.

I need to do this. Soon. But I'm selfishly terrified because we're pretty good sleepers here (nevermind my 3am post, haha!). I'm thinking about getting a Zipadeezip, but open to suggestions and advice!

ETA: Having a cold with a LO is the worst! Baby almost asleep? It'd be a great time to sneeze!! Been rocking your kid for an hour? Go ahead and have a coughing fit, I'm sure that'll help. [-X
  • I'm missing that six hour stretch I used to get from LO at night. It's been almost a week now of waking every 2-3 hours at night. So tired.
  • ^^^ same. We are thankful to get 4 hr stretches these days. It's been 2-3 weeks of it. He will be 3 months old this week
  • I have a kiddo with gas and now has her brother's cold. So between the gas and blowouts and her not being able to breathe, neither one of us got any sleep. And tomorrow I go back to work. Yay.

Same here. Started @ 11-12 weeks. And on top of that, now (@14 weeks) LO is resisting going back to sleep - taking up to two hours to get him back down. If this is three months, i don't know how he can possibility regress at four!?

  • LO fell back asleep on her own twice last night without me getting up. I'm starting to love this hand sucking business. Last night, DH said it's time to get her out of our room and into her crib. I don't know why, but I'm just so nervous about it! I tried it before but she kept waking up. I guess now she can self soothe a little better so it's worth another shot.

We're crib training this week since I go back to work in 2 weeks. She went down fine, then up at 12:30, 2, 3, and 5. After we were up til 6 we went back into my room and she's been asleep in the rock n play since 6:30. When I fed her, she'd fall back asleep pretty quickly and would be asleep in the crib for maybe 5 minutes then wake up. I'd wait a bit then put paci in. (She never sleeps with paci in the rock n play). I slept on the floor in her room and it sucked. She never has been difficult to get back down after a MOTN feed. Her normal wake time is 2 and 6am. Hoping tonight goes better! Any tips?

I swaddle her but with both arms out since she likes to sleep with arms by her ears. Also have the fan app that runs in our room going on in hers and the sheet that's on her crib I've slept with for the past 3 weeks for my scent.

Edit: here's to being positive and tonight goes better!
  • I'm right there with you mommas who are happy with the occasional 4 hr stretch. LO has been sleeping 3 hr stretches (with the ocassional 4 hrs) for a couple of weeks now. She'll be 13 weeks on Friday (3 mos on Saturday). I return to work on the 21st and I'm not sure how I'm going to function (effectively) at work if she keeps this up. Prior to this around 8-10 weeks she was sleeping 4-5 hr stretches with the occasional 6 hr stretch. What the hell happened?? :(

No tips but we are planning on starting this weekend. I'll probably be sleeping on the floor too. I'm nervous about it, but I know he needs to be out of the rock 'n play. DH is more nervous than I am about it!
  • @amccoy129 that's why we're doing it too. I'll keep you updated ha
  • @slr1229 I told my DH I think baby #2 should go right in the crib...this transition is too hard now! Probably harder on us than them!

WRONG! Last night was every hour. Sigh.

This is my new favorite book. Someone mentioned it previously on here, so I looked it up today after I had a rough night last night. Made me laugh so I thought I'd share. Go The F¥€K to Sleep.....

  • I've been trying to put LO down for naps in his crib and its rough. He'll probably sleep in a pack n play after the bassinet in our room until he quits waking up every 2 hours.
I only swaddle with 1 arm. He has a strong startle reflex if both are out.

    @lovethatcolosun
I had mentioned it previously. It is now a staple at baby showers for moms who can appreciate the sarcastic humor. I was reciting that book for weeks. Still have some favorite one liners that I repeat lol. As in seeing i can expect to have a sleep regression in the next two-three weeks. Glad you got a good laugh and hopefully some sleep!
  • Night 2 of crib went much better. Down at 9. Wake times at 1:40, 4:40 and waiting for her to wake up shortly. Only put paci in after the last feed. Even though those times definitely don't work for my back to work schedule, it's a step in the right direction. My sister swears it takes 3 days/nights to form a habit.
  • Back up to 3 hour segments. Baby boy keeps putting himself to sleep for the night at 6:00 or 6:30, throwing me off because it had been 7:00-8:00. I feel like his sleep is off and it's my fault, but I just can't seem to predict his needs.

MIL is here this week so we are running around a lot this week. Next week I will stay closer to home and work on some type of schedule.
  • So mad and tired today bc baby girl slept 5.5 hours for me but of course I couldn't enjoy the hours bc I have a clogged duct and had to get up to pump twice grrr!!
  • Happy to hear some of you mommas got some long stretches last night! I wasn't so lucky. Aside from the first 3 hr stretch, LO was up every 2 hrs almost to the minute. And this morning we woke up to find her sleeping on her tummy. That was terrifying but after I confirmed she was breathing, we're all good.
  • So I've been trying the one arm out swaddle, but her arm is ICE COLD when she wakes up. I know the metabolism slows down in a deep sleep but it is frigid and makes me feel bad. The rest of her is super warm (she wears a onesie, footie cotton jammies and a cotton sleep sack). I don't know how to fix the situation.

The same thing happens with mine. I put him in long sleeve Onsies or pjs. They say to keep the temperature cold for babies so I figure it's ok. I'm not sure I would do a onsie and footed pjs and a swaddle. Not to make you paranoid (I already am) but overheating is a SIDS risk.

I tried the arms out sleeping and this happened to me, too. Super cold arms and hands. For us, he sleeps in a regular no legs / no arms onesie but his sleep sack is fleece. I was maybe gonna try a long sleeve onesie with a muslin sleep sack?

  • We tried to transition to the regular, flat pnp mattress last night. She didn't care for it. Went down at 830, up at 1130 and 230 so at that point I stuck her back in the bassinet and she slept until 645. She's too long for the bassinet now so we're going to keep working on the pnp. Though if it's going to be this rough I'm thinking we may as well skip the pnp and go right to the crib.

I'm considering long sleeved feetie pj's in lieu of a swaddle tonight...her arms are always out and she seemed so much colder last night in the pnp than she does from the bassinet. She likes to kick too so I think she may be into it. I ordered a sleep sack but the arms are still bare so I feel like it needs a long sleeve top under it. We'll see when it arrives.
  • Curious, what time do people put their LOs to bed? We do around 830 pm, and a coworker remarked this was later than she did with her son at this age. She wasn't being judgy, but it did make me curious as to what others do?
  • LO goes down for the night at 7:30. He starts to get crabby and overtired if he doesn't get to start his bedtime routine by then.
  • Tonight lo was asleep in the pack n play at 7:45. Usually she's asleep between 7:45 and 8:30 depending on how awake she is which makes her eat longer and better, but I usually wake her up a few times while she's eating. She eats for 40-50 mins before passing out on me which I think helps her make it without eating until 6/7am. I think 8:30 is fine for now especially since they are so little.
  • LO goes down between 9-930. Just the way our schedule is its either 7 or 9 and she's not tired for 7p so...9 it is. Works well for us right now, and with me coming home from work @ 8pm soon it's the best for us. She sleeps late in the morning with a dream feeding at 6a She's a night owl like her night shift working mama.

@jesshrou totally understand this but she was cold when I just did a onesie and the sleep sack, she kicked and thrashed all night and I finally realized it was because her legs and feet were ice cold even in the sack. She sleeps a million times better and is a comfortable temperature when I wake her in the morning (besides the ice cold appendages). She runs hot normally and has never been close to hot overnight so I have to bundle her up.
