Parent fail: I don't know if LO is over 15 lbs but assume he is. I've inspected the PnP hanging bassinet carefully and it's supporting him fine - no signs of stress on the crib. He's going to stay there a while longer while I keep my eye on it. He mostly naps on our bed.
If anyone has personal experience why this isn't a good idea, I'll be glad for your advice. I don't want fear mongering sensationalism though.
Posting because I would appreciate knowing I'm not the only one... so maybe I can provide that for another mom.
Obviously I'm not saying this is the best decision, or one I condone for everyone.
It looks like there are many moms that continue using it throughout the first year. The biggest concern that was cited is the shallow depth and the possibility that LO could then "fall out" when becoming mobile.
I think we'll still use it as long as it's sturdy, not under stress and LO isn't nearing the point where he'd be able to get out of it.
What a bummer. I guess this was also a mom fail for me for not realizing we were quickly approaching the weight limit. Luckily the crib is being assembled this week and we can make the transition!
Yeah, I think he'll make it to the crib before he reaches the weight limit, but honestly it wasn't until reading earlier in the where does your baby sleep thread that I discovered the #15 thing and then checked my ownown users manual. Had I not read that, I would have also continued to use it until we transitioned to the crib within due time or he got too big or mobile and it became a safety hazard. Meaning, even if he weighed more and might have gone over #15, as long as it appeared safe I would still have used it. Guess I'm just lucky despite the fact he's got some chins and a baby gut, he's still pretty lean, weight wise
In other news - what a cranky baby tonight! He was fed and got his bath earlier in the evening, then started to be tired cranky so we went to bed. Within an hour he woke up wide awake and was kicking and not crying but frustrated and annoyed with his sleep sack and making a bunch of noise and squirming his hands out. Took an hour to get him back to sleep... He kept falling asleep then popping his eyes open to wide awake mode and starting all over. Now, 2 hours later he started the same thing. This time I went ahead and got him up to feed him (last time I hadn't cause he had ate less than 3 hours prior) and change him, but he's still cranky at the switch between boobs, normally he doesn't care. Hopefully this feed will get us thru when DH leaves around 7am... With his bottle still to go and then getting him back to sleep it will probably be 3am by the time we're all done here.
I don't want to get excited here...but LO just slept from 8:30-4:15. That makes this the third night in a row with a 6+ hour stretch of sleep. It's a bit difficult to get her back down after feeding her, but it's getting easier. I really hope this continues even once we start daycare in two weeks.
I woke up at 12:30 and 3 needing to pump. I emptied the boob I wasn't planning to use for the night feed and took about an ounce from the other one just to get comfortable both times. Hoping the engorgement will catch up to this new routine and stop soon so I only wake up once.
I've been tracking naps and feeds this week and I'm starting to see subtle patterns.. it might actually be getting better here. We'll see soon enough!
Past few mornings now after our 5:30am feed she'll sleep for an hour then is up for the day and chatting away at 7am. She goes down by 10 every night but surely this isn't enough sleep (Wakes up at 2am). She used to sleep until 9am after that feed! Sad day
Horrible insomnia last night. The night before LO kept waking up all night so last night I was up worrying he would be up again. I kept telling myself it didn't matter, if he got up he got up but nothing helped. I just laid there for hours praying sleep would come. By the time I finally started to dose off, he was up needing to eat. Nothing feels more frustrating to me than when he is sleeping soundly and I am awake. Do scared it's going to happen again tonight.

When this starts happening to me I put my white noise app on loud with a timer for 15 minutes. If she wakes up she won't have time to get too upset and meanwhile I have 15 minutes to not worry about hearing her and just relax. I usually fall asleep before the white noise turns off.
Finally got her to take a bottle. Thank god because I had like...3 margaritas. Now the real question is if she will sleep or not because she's thrashing around in her crib with the hiccups. Ugh!

Beyond jealous of your margaritas.
So glad she finally took a bottle!! We are having the same issue. I got LO to take an oz last night so hopefully we are on the right track.
@rrcameron21 what actually worked was laying her down. I laid her on my legs and tried. Before this we've always sat her up and she never took it. We're still on slow flow nipples...but she took it from a MAM bottle. Weve tried avent, dr Browns, tommee tippee, lansinoh, playtex. I'm not getting too excited because tomorrow's another day )

Hooray, margaritas. A new Mexican place opened up really close by, we've gone a couple times and they have really good margaritas. Really good. In all the fruity, girly flavors like mango, guava, raspberry, etc. But they're huge. I mean HUGE. Each time we go I get one and I'm like 'I'm finishing this bitch cause it cost me $8' but then I always have a buzz afterwards and of course then LO is hungry. Good thing we feed with formula in addition to boobs, so we can just give him formula only, but man! Margaritas!
In other alcohol news, pumpkin beers are out. I recommend the Whole Hog Pumpkin Ale. Fantastic
@mellymar You'll have to have one for me. The worst part about going gluten free is no beer. And fall is my favorite for seasonals. Between pumpkin beers and Oktoberfest, I'm really missing out.

Purchase them and hoard them. I still have beer in my fridge that I bought during my pregnancy.
@dancegurl1118 I would've never thought of that! I must try. So far he hates dr Browns and cheapo bottles. Tommee tippee was what worked last night! I hope we can continue to be successful with those so we don't go broke trying every brand.
LO has slept almost all day so I'm really worried he's going to be up all night! He's sleeping right now again and hopefully he keeps it up as I've been really spoiled with him because he started sleeping through the night really early on (around 4-5 weeks) and I don't want that to end now especially since I'm going to be starting work soon
@mellymar I had some friends over so I made My own margs! 3oz tequila, 2oz lime juice, 1 oz simple syrup and 1 teaspoon of triple sec. So tasty!! Except juicing 8 limes by hand while LO slept basically made me feel like I would have a claw forever. I'm a sucker for a good plain on the rocks margarita...none of that frozen froo froo stuff

I'm stealing your recipe. I love a good rocks marg!
I'll take a margarita either way, but I admit to liking the froo froo stuff. Mostly cause I like flavored ones and flavored ones are usually blended. If I am getting a regular one, its always on the rocks.
I'll have to try this recipe, too. DH loves a good margarita and we have been chasing the memory of the margaritas made at a place we used to eat at way back in the day. Can't find another that tastes quite like it
I'm beyond pissed right now. My husband took care of LO last night while I worked a quick dinner shift. I came home and she was still napping and it was 8pm. She hadn't eaten yet and she's suppose to at 7 then go down for the night. Well of course I'm up with her at midnight while she's wide awake. So here I am feeding her and he's passed out. Well you can better believe it I woke him up and bitched at him. But now he's back asleep. I just started back at my last semester of school and I'm so stressed already. He's NEVER woke up to feed her in the middle of the night but j swear to God that's done with how. I'm over this BS. When he has her at night he puts her in her swing and sits on his phone and watches tv. I'm so sick of him
I seriously think my sleep is done forever. The baby actually slept a good chunk tonight but I keep waking up!!! Whether it's listening for him or just my subconscious used to being up every 2-3. Like @delujm0 said the other day. Exhausted and still sick with sinus infection/sore throat.
I love this little guy but wondering if sleep will ever get better?!?! STMs please tell me it does!
All I have to say is No Sleep!!!! 10 weeks today and she is barely sleeping all she does is fuss ugh tears falling as I type this bc DH doesn't help in the night so I'm beyond tired and anxious Longest clip last night was 3.5 but after that only an 1 hr and then had to sleep on me all morning where all she did was whine and fuss ! Don't understand
Mine was down at 8:30, up at 2:00, up at 3:00 but just restless. I picked him up and we both fell asleep with him in the bed. I hate when I do that! The he woke at like 5 to eat. Not horrible I know, but he has me spoiled by typically not waking until 4 or 5. He's been so inconsistent lately!

It does! Let's imagine one of my nights a few months ago. At 7:30 -a bedtime the adults chose- we start the routine. By 7:45 both kids are tucked in. They're both awake and maybe not even drowsy but will fall asleep on their own over the next half an hour. We will not see them at all all night. We will hear the 4yo go pee (on his own!) sometime in the middle of the night. He will put himself back to sleep easily. So will the 2yo if he happens to wake. Sometime before 7:00 am they both wake and lay in silently until 7 when their clock turns green. Then they get out of bed and find a grownup. It's been over 11 hours since we saw or spoke to either of them. It's like this almost every single night.
It's not perfect, obviously. There's no sleeping in, sometimes there's vomit or bed wetting or nightmares, but bedtimes are peaceful, no underlying fear of how long this sleep chunk will last.
Well, my LO had pretty firmly set her routine of sleeping roughly six hours a night from around midnight until around 6, and then napping until around 10. I really liked it because I got some semblance of a normal sleep, and the timing of her schedule meant we were STTN. Over the last few nights, she's switched it up on me. New routine is fall asleep around 10, wake up around 3 or 4, sleep again until around 8. This means I once again have a middle of the night feeding. But, I actually like this better because DH and I get a few hours of just the two of us after she falls asleep before we go to bed, and even though my sleep is interrupted again, I feel more rested. So I'm actually kind of hoping she sticks with this for a while. Unless she wants to just switch to a 10-8 schedule, that would be cool. But I think 3 months is probably a bit early for that
LO slept 830-4 last night...I went to bed and woke up at 12:30 do I pumped. Woke up again at 345 and pumped, and she woke up before I got back in bed. So at least I only woke up one extra time. Better than two!
We had shots today so I fear for the next 12-24 hours.

This would piss me off as well.. I'm upset for you ... Especially I think you said you are in Nursing school? That shit is no joke
I was *really* tired from 5pm on, but hung in there with the plan to put LO to bed early and go to sleep myself. Well, got LO to bed. And I've been unable to sleep for the last hour. :-q

My lo has been sleeping from around 8 pm to 6/7 am since about 6 weeks, all of a sudden this last 4 days she's woken up to eat between 3:30 and 5:30. She did get her lip tie cut tues so idk if that has anything to do with it or maybe growth spurt? She is 11.5 weeks. Any one else dealt with this?

Yep! Same thing happening here this week. My LO is 12.5 weeks.
We had our shots yesterday...and after 4 days of being asleep by 8:45 and having 6-7 hour stretches followed by an additional 3-4 hour stretch, we regressed a bit. She fought sleep until 9:30 and then was up at 3, 5:30, and 6:30. It's 8 now and she's still out...on top of me because I gave up on a transfer at the 5:30 feeding.
It's only a slight regression and it's probably related to the shots...I hope because dh is now out of town until Monday afternoon at a family wedding. My dad and sister are here but I don't see them being even half as helpful as dh, especially at night. Better than bringing DD on a 4 hour flight to this wedding though! When I remember that we actually considered doing that when I was pregnant and the flights were being purchased I am so happy that logic prevailed. SIL brought my nephew on planes frequently as early as 6 weeks, but he was a happy baby. DD would have been screaming the whole flight and it would have been a nightmare. I can't even bring her to the grocery store without her having a meltdown.
