Ugh we are trying the bassinet and she just wiggles around way too much and ends up waking herself up. Then she keeps us up because she's in our room. We have this stupid one bedroom duplex so we're stuck with her in our room or in the living room which leaves us not being able to be social after her bedtime. However she hasn't been falling asleep until 9/930 most nights
Any advice on this bassinet issue?? Ugh

    Tummy?

Since we swaddle because she startles herself awake do you think if we stop and do tummy she won't startle herself awake? I just laid her on her side and haven't heard a peep from her yet so assuming she fell asleep
I haven't even considered tummy but definitely willing to try just nervous about not using the swaddle anymore. Feel like we definitely rely on it
  • Being on his tummy takes away the startle.. Hope she stays asleep and you guys get rest!
  • @katyertl We are having the same issue with the bassinet. I had LO sleeping pretty awesomely in the rock n play (8pm - 4am) but my DH & Mom are giving me a lot of pressure to move him to the bassinet. Now he's been waking up at 11pm and around 2 or 3. So, basically I've added a wake-up to my night. Ugh.

@HayesRN13 I might need to try the tummy sleeping. This might seem like a really stupid question, but how do you put him down on his tummy? I usually rock/sway my guy until he's pretty drowsy and I feel like flipping him into his tummy while laying him down would wake him up too much.

Yea it took me a while to get it down.. He will fall asleep on me .. I wait until he's out of his REM sleep and In a deeper sleep .. Then kind of lean over his crib.. And put my hand under where his face is against my chest .. And I lean over so the transfer is quick.. Sometimes I leave my hand against his face while he is in bed (so he's now laying on my hand) if he wiggles while I do it.. You will get your own thing that works.. But getting as close to mattress before transfer I think is key

    ETA-stupid prediction
  • Trying to replicate last nights 5 hour stretch between feedings. I'm going to bed at the same time, but I also fed him an hour and half later than yesterday, too. Last night he went to sleep at 8 and didn't wake until 1. Tonight he went to sleep at 930... Let's see how this goes. [-O<

    Nope
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • Nope for me too melly.
Ugh. Woke at 1 am. I still haven't been to sleep. My body hates me. I don't think it's capable of sleeping well anymore
  • Baby's sleeping and I'm pumping= I hate my life
    Sooo tired
  • LO slept 5 hours but I was paranoid so I was up. Hopefully she sleeps the rest of the night.
  • What about spitting up while sleeping on tummy? Our girl is super spitty and we will notice wet spots on her swaddle by her mouth. Will she be in danger if she is on her tummy?
  • Sigh. What happened to my 7+ hour stretches in week 9?

Now she won't sleep more than 5. And no matter what she will wake sometime between 4 and 5 am. I'm tired of seeing the sun rise.

She will always go back down to sleep, thank goodness, but at almost 11 weeks the pediatrician is convinced she should be able to sleep through the night. Doc says to let her fuss and see if she will settle but so far it's not working because she's more than fussing, she's crying for food and she's such a little piggy she has NO tolerance for being hungry.

I may need to let her cry a little longer in a few weeks when she hits sleep training stage (3 months, if I recall?) But also don't want DH to wake up while she cries.... Ugh. Doc says to start this now but I feel like waiting until 12 weeks.
  • Woke up to LO completely perpendicular to how I put her to sleep..which makes me nervous that she was thrashing about and I didn't hear her. I would've heard her right? Ugh.
TTC: 1/2014 BFP: 9/24 EDD: 6/8/2015 Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.
  • Up at 130, 330, 430, 550 and have been up since the 330 feeding. Not sure how I will be functioning today with LO and 2 yo DS1.
  • Baby got vaccines yesterday. He had one dose of Tylenol around 3:30. Woke up around 7:00 or so smiling. Ate at 7,8,9,and fell asleep around 10. He slept until 4:00. I woke him up and took his temperature (flame away), even though he didn't feel hot. I was freaked out. He ate for a while, then fell back asleep. From 10-4 he had been in the rock and play, but then I put him on the in the pack n play. We've been transitioning and he never sleeps more than two hours in there. It's 6:30 and he's still out. Instead of enjoying that he's sleeping, I'm worried! Haha.

yup, had a great day of naps, play time, etc only to have a terrible night. Either days or nights suck. We can't win!
  • Between having to pump every 2 hours , baby only sleeping for 2.5 , and then having to hold her upright for 45 min per the pedi orders I am not getting any sleep!!! I'm freakin going crazy with exhaustion plus having mastitis doesn't help!

Hate to stop pumping bc I can't nurse but at this point it's killing me!

LO will be 9 weeks on Friday and she's still sleeping in the rock n play at night. I feel bad for not transitioning her to the pack n play or crib by now, especially when I see her trying to stretch out in the RnP. She naps in her PnP during the day but when we try to do this at night she wants no part of it.

Also, leaps pretty much suck. LO was sleeping in 5 hour stretches and over the last few days I'm lucky if we have a 3 hour stretch. Hope this leap wraps up soon.

  • @klkonwi thank you I'm trying!!

@MurLindzz omg this is the story of my life when I'm pumping and trying to hold sleeping baby in between boobs there is no way I can reach my phone or remotes!! Lol love this
  • @AlyLynn07 this was exactly our schedule last night too, ugh it's the worst! I have seen 4:30 everyday for the last 7 Weeks, I am determined to quit seeing that time of day soon.
  • ^^^ I guess I should be thankful for the initial 4 hr stretch?! Gah, he had been doing so well! Seems like it must be this leap as it's been several days and he is 9 weeks old tomorrow
  • Woke up to LO completely perpendicular to how I put her to sleep..which makes me nervous that she was thrashing about and I didn't hear her. I would've heard her right? Ugh.

Mine does this all the time. That's when I switched from a swaddle blanket to a a sleep sack!
  • I thought kimchi was a good idea for dinner. Hello, 2:00 am and fussy baby. Long time no see...

    I'm such. an. idiot.
  • ^^^^ cut yourself some slack momma. Not like you did it on purpose! :)

I'm up because I had a horrible awful nightmare in which my baby was harmed. I'm so anxious about going back to work and it's manifesting itself in my precious sleep time.
  • Well LO didn't nap really well yesterday which means I didn't get any sleep either and now tonight has been horrific up every hour and even when she's sleeping she's fussing which leaves me on the edge of the bed waiting anxiously for the real cry ugh fed up right now
  • I'm caught between putting LO back in bassinet by our bed to get her more used to it but probably sleeping like crap vs putting her in her swing and knowing we both will sleep good.

We start LO in the rock n play every night. He sleeps 5-6 hours. Then I feed and move to the pack n play where I get two hours at best. Not the best practice but at least I'm not exhausted.
  • My ds won't sleep tonight. He will fall asleep while I rock him but then I will swaddle him and lay him down and he wakes himself up kicking and grunting. We do little remedies gas drops, gripe water, tummy massages, hold him uptight after he eats, and even prescription medication for acid reflux. Worst night since we first got home from the hospital.
  • Good news: I've gotten LO to nap for a total of 4-5 hours the past two days

Bad news: she has fought sleep for 2-3 hours the past two nights at bedtime, and then instead of starting off with a 5 hour stretch like normal, it's all.night in 3 hour increments. I'm guessing that's because she's sleeping more during the day, so she's eating less during the day, therefore requiring an extra night feed. I really can't win with this kid.

This is me and LO tonight as well. Ugh. He won't sleep! Idk what to do, he has been sleeping amazingly the past 2 weeks, and the last 3 or so have been rough. It must be this leap. 9 more days left. Can't wait for this to pass.
  • Why does she thrash in her sleep spinning herself sideways? Her thrashing makes the monitor go on, thus waking her tired mama, when she's not really awake. Grrrrr.

  • It never fails. When LO has a bad day of napping and cries a lot, she sleeps great at night. Down at 930, up at 2 and up at 530. If she had a great day, we fight night time. So today will be a great day and bad night tonight!

I keep having horrible dreams too! One where someone stole him, wake up so freaked out
  • ^^^^ what the heck is with these dreams.... They creep me out! I practically woke up crying. Nuts.
