^^^^ what the heck is with these dreams.... They creep me out! I practically woke up crying. Nuts.

Me too.. I think it's anxiety about having to be away from him while at work ? :(
  • LO just turned 7 weeks today but last couple days she really won't sleep deep at all even during the day too could this be a growth spurt ? Anyone go through this
  • Tonight is going to be rough. We had 1 45min nap this afternoon, otherwise 20 min cat naps. And no one but mom can soothe her. Now we're fighting sleep like it's the devil. She only has been snacking. All the ingredients for a rotten night. Yay for growth spurts.
  • Oh my gosh @Sammy K I'm having the same exact day! I was at my breaking point earlier telling LO, "Why don't you nap? Babies are supposed to nap!" He seriously slept for maybe 1 hour in the swing.

Now I've tried putting him down two times for bed and within 10 minutes he's screaming bloody murder. I really don't want him sleeping on me tonight, but it kind of feels like that might happen. Ugh.
  • What's up with the 4.5 hr nap during the day but the 2 hr naps at night?!? Knew I should have woken him up....

Noo don't wake your babe, it sucks but it will get better. Then you just increase chance of him not sleeping well if you wake him, they need their sleep, our babes our two months old, they should not be sleeping through the night ..
  • @HayesRN13 now you're making me nervous...LO is 10 weeks old and sleeps through the night. Still gaining weight fine (.5-1oz a day), albeit slower than before. I wouldn't know how to not have her do this...she sleeps 10p-5a.
TTC: 1/2014 BFP: 9/24 EDD: 6/8/2015 Sorry for the poor man's siggy...ticker won't load regardless of how many tips I read.

Some start sleeping through the night at 6 weeks. As long as they are gaining weight, I wouldn't be nervous.

That's why I didn't wake him, but he needs to get w the program and figure our day from night! I wish =/
  • I need more sleep. I'm getting a sty (stie sp?) on my eye....... Ugh.
I cherish the snuggling though because I'm dreading working.....

DS slept consistently 5-6 hours by 8 weeks and about once a week he'd go 7-8. By 12 weeks he consistently slept 8+. Enjoy your sleep, you are fine. I'm always worried there's something wrong with LO because she rarely goes more than 2.5 hours at 8 weeks.

BTW, having a good first sleeper, makes a colicky second kid even more tough. Just something to keep in the back of your mind in case you have more kids. Hopefully they all will be good sleepers.
  • @Sammy K I think a lot of her being a good sleeper is the fact that I worked nights the whole pregnancy so she was always asleep from like 11-5. I'm sure anytime having a colicky baby is rough but especially when you're used to the sleep.

  • I let LO sleep on his stomach for the first time tonight. He slept longer than ever! I'm finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I knew this guy didn't like sleeping on his back.
  • @klkonwi I'm going to say thanks! My LO is so fussy and colicky I have nearly lost my mind! My DH works second shift so I get to do bedtime (which is the hardest time of day) all alone. It usually consists of me walking around the living room for at least an hour holding LO while listening to rap music. Last night I was able for the first time to successfully pump one side standing up while holding baby! Not an easy task! I finally got him to sleep and we laid down around 11:30, but then I was up by 1 again. Around 2:30 he went back down in his bouncer so I slept on the couch until 4 but have been up since in the recliner. He also scratched the crap out of my nipple this morning so that hurts now. Can't wait to be done with this phase!
  • Colicky babies are tough! My first was super colicky and those first three months were rough! I feel your pain ladies. Try to remember it does eventually end!

Since it was my first, I just thought that's how all babies are. Now with my second, I feel like he's so easy! Just have to figure out how to get him to take some long naps during the day :-?
  • Wow, kiddo slept from 10-4 last night in rock in play. Don't know what got into her, definitely had to pump after her mini feed at 4. God bless you ladies who pump in middle of the night
  • I've given up transitioning into the pack n play and am letting LO sleep in the rock n play. He'll sleep from 9-3 in there and only 2 hour stretches in the pack n play.
  • LO turned 12 weeks yesterday. He seems to have outgrown his colic, as he has been super happy for the past week. On the downside, he isn't sleeping well anymore. We used to get 6 hour stretches, now we are down to 3.5 or 4 hour stretches. Wishing I could have a happy baby who also sleeps well, but I guess I'll take the happy baby if I can only have one or the other!

Sounds like my life right now with a colic baby !! I'm exhausted and have been pretty stressed myself but keep just telling myself it too shall pass! My hubby does second shift until midnight and then he's too tired to do any feedings until 745 am it sucks!! She really likes sleeping on me during the day so I never can get anything done otherwise she screams !
  • @HayesRN13 now you're making me nervous...LO is 10 weeks old and sleeps through the night. Still gaining weight fine (.5-1oz a day), albeit slower than before. I wouldn't know how to not have her do this...she sleeps 10p-5a.

Ya as long as the ped is fine with her gain I would soak it up and not worry at all... I'm really surprised especially being breastfed she does...so congrats! :) I really meant that there is nothing "wrong" with your baby if they aren't sleeping through the night... As at this age is the norm
  • My Lo "sleeps" well through night.. But wakes (starts to whine in sleep) up for 1-2 feeds, stays asleep (eyes closed) then goes right back down, I'm just happy he isn't reversed he def is up a lot during the day so I'm happy at least his days and nights aren't backwards :-bd
  • So this was a surprise - LO isn't even 11 weeks and is suddenly having a night where he's eating every 1-2 hours. And for long stretches, too. So crazy. Is he going to be a bigger size tomorrow? Hopefully he'll nap well after being up all night.
Would be nice if he's getting his 3 month growth spurt out of the way before I go back to work. :)

  • Dream feeds totally just changed our nights! LO went to bed at 8, we did a dream feed at 11:00, and he woke up at 3:30 for a quick snack, then slept again until 7. Next goal is to get rid of his MOTN snack Lol.

  • We tried to start the night in her crib since her first stretch of sleep is usually awesome- did not work. Picked up, moved to rock n play and out like a sack. Come on baby help us out a bit!
  • Every time I try one of these dream feeds it does not work. Last night he had fallen asleep into a nap after his evening feed, and for his 'before bedtime' feed he was so sleepy! So much so I considered skipping that feed altogether but knew if I did I'd just end up having to wake up in an hour or so, so I decided to just feed him. He was so tired he asleep as I burped him after nursing. So I position him around and go to give him his bottle and once I took it away to burp him he starts screaming, and continues to scream anytime I remove the bottle from his mouth thereafter. And continues to scream once he is done eating, which he doesn't normally do. And keeps crying as I pick him up and we are moving around and coming upstairs for the night. I ended up having to bouncey ball him for 40 minutes before he falls asleep again. And the bouncey ball usually puts him out in 15 minutes or less.

I just suck at dreamfeeding I guess

  • @mellymar sorry you had a rough start to the night. I haven't attempted a dream feed yet. I don't quite understand how to do it to an extent so we just stick to our 9:00 bedtime feed and see how the night goes for now. I understand you wake them to get a small feed in before you go down? Idk, if that's the case I never want to wake the kiddo up.
  • Dream feeding doesn't work for us either. It's a full feed and nighttime routine, or she only eats enough to sleep for 1-2 hours. Not worth it for us.

Same here, dream feeds just restart a shorter cycle. The problem is that she will fall asleep at 7 pm.... And so yeah we want to try a dream feed at 10/11...

It happens .. But sucks hang in there
  • I'm hoping that since there are few posts here it means it really is getting better. LO went 5.5 hours last night and I was totally out of it when she did wake up.
  • I have been able to put LO in the bassinet for two straight nights! Just the first stretch two nights ago, but the first two stretches last night. I forgot what sleeping in a bed felt like!

Granted I had to prop her up in there on her side because she refuses to sleep on her back, so I check her breathing constantly, but whatever, she's asleep. She's also had reasonable nap patterns the past few days which is awesome. 8 weeks today!
  • So my LO went from sleeping 5 hour stretches to 2-4 hour stretches since we've started daycare. &
I've made the mistake on my part of starting to do side lying feeding at night. The first few days it went great. Now I'm falling asleep while she's eating & I do not want to co-sleep (just our choice). So. Now I have to break this co-sleeping pattern bc it's starting to effect her daytime naps too. Tomorrow night should be fun.
  • So we had a full day yesterday. Resulted in her sleeping from 730-130 then 230-6
The 230-6 I slept on couch because all she did was grunt and make a crap ton of noise. Hopefully that doesn't last much longer because it's annoying as hell.

Usually on weekends I still continue to take middle of night feeding and hubby takes am around 630/7 so I can go back to sleep. Well today he through a fit and said he hated me and he said F you to me but the whole word. He said for once he wants 8 hours of sleep. Are you kidding me?! Not once has he taken the middle of night feeding and all week I do all of them except when I'm at work for the 4-5 hours between 4pm-9pm.
Granted he works 5am-2/3pm Monday-friday. But still. I don't wake him up all week and he gets to sleep through all the night feedings and crying. And he has the right to say that crap to me?! And in front of our baby?! I know she doesn't know what he's saying but she can sense the tone and the last thing I want is for her to see a man say that to a woman. Ugh I really hate him right now.
And here goes the silent treatment between us both
