Wel Gwynn, spelled Gouine in french means lesbian, in a mean way, that's my first thought.... i would keep Gwenn

    My first thought as well!

  • Oops. Forgot to post here. We're having a little girl named Basil Bea!

    That is adorable!

I will hopefully find out the sex Wednesday at 16w4d if all goes well, Maybe once I know it will help with the naming. I currently like Benjamin Rex, Lucas Cruz, Jaxon Cruz or Axel Cruz. SO wants Cruz as a middle name after his step father.... I haven't fully committed but I'm trying to get on board. As for girl names, nothing sticks out yet but I've had the same few in mind Violet (Vi), Riley, Sadie, Alice, Bay or Brooke. SO only advice is "make sure it will sound good on a resume" :-?
  • I need honest advice.....I can handle it!! My husband likes Gwynn(variation of Gwen) for a girl. Is it feminine?! Gwynn being pronounced more like Gwin?

Nope. Use Gwen (short for Gwendolyn or Guinevere).

@dogLoverX3  Gwynn is masculine.  There are a lot of Gwen names would he consider one of those?

Gwen and Gwynn sound virtually the same to me and both seem feminine to me. Even if it's trafitionally masculine who cares? There are a lot of popular girls names that started out as boys names, if you like the idea of unisex name and like the way it sounds then go for it!

That is not great advice. Head over to the baby name board if you want to know why it is important to use properly spelled, gender appropriate names.

Ok-I didn't know there was a board! My husband has not liked any of the names I love, but he did pick Gwen and Regan, which I'm ok with, I like Gwen better, but then he mentions he likes Gwin, spelled Gwynn, better!!! So hard compromising!!! Lol
  • Not 100% sure but tech said she was 75% sure we are having a girl. :) We have had names picked for awhile. We are naming her Hazel Quinn. Hazel is a family name and Quinn is because she is our 5th baby. Our boy name was Cash Silas (both family names). :)

I see you already made your way over :) It's a great, really helpful board, especially if you want honest, educated opinions.

Yes definitely! Thanks for the great advice!! Good to know Gwynn is not made up, just masculine! Currently trying to sell my husband on Gwyneth, and then use Gwynn. Then, we both get what we want! I just don't want her to have a boys name. I know people do it, but I can't!
  • My husband wants Penelope...which surprised me because he's pretty good ol boy traditional. Our sons name is John Henry, lol! So far, everybody we've told likes it and I, in fact, am the most hesitant.... But it's growing on me, and now that we know she's a girl....I think it's cute to call her "pea". Although, Ellie...would be my choice nickname If I was to pick one. In my experience, their nicknames pick themselves after a few months though :)

    What about Penny?!
  • Actually that's the one I was afraid of, lol. Although, Big Bang theory has made that a little more acceptable :D

Can I get your thoughts on the names Avon or Vega for a boy?
  • We don't know what we are having yet but we are going with:

       Boy: Garrin Alexander

       Girl: Arabelle Rose
  • This is my first child, Im going to find out their gender on the 16th of june, can't wait! I like Darian, Tian or Arion for a boy and Indigo, Maleah or Nyhla for a girl. Very varied.
  • Don't find out till I'm 21+5 :( only 14w on wednesday so seems like forever. I'm not really bothered with what the sex is as this is our second, so if we can tell on the day that's great if not ohwell :) girl name is Madison Kate Lewis then boy probably Adam Andrew Lewis. We already have a Meela so wish we spelt it Mila now!
  • We find out July 1st!! We decided to have a few choices for each sex, only because if baby is born and we feel the name doesn't fit we want some options prepared :)
    girl names- Cecelia and Sasha
boy names- (a little different but...) Dorian, Atticus, and Julius
    (so far) :)
  • We're looking for middle name ideas to go with the first name Gwendolyn. Looking for something short and sweet that flows well. Last name is two syllables and starts with an H. Any ideas ladies?

I had a NUCHL translucency ultrasound at 11weeks 5days, and they gave us a guess for my twins! 80% sure it's a boy and a girl. At my appointment last week my doctor asked if they gave us a guess on the sex at the ultrasound, we told him, and his response was "great! So you know what you're having." So hopefully that doesn't change at our anatomy scan in like 2 1/2 weeks (I'll be almost 19 weeks).

We're leaning towards Emerson Mae and Everett Lane (Emmy and Evers), but aren't planning on announcing until they're born in case we feel like they don't match their names.

I thought about Rose and I would probably go for it but it but there was a few years when I was little that my nickname was Rose so it feels a little weird. I think I'm getting closer. I know I want one syllable with a hard beginning sound (Like May or Claire, not Anne or Hope.) I'm still having a REALLY hard time talking the hubby out of Gwendolyn Ariodney. He just doesn't see how atrociously those names go together. Plus she'll be in middle school before she can even spell it! :P Has anyone else had to talk or been talked out of a name? What tactics were used? I really don't want to have to just downright refuse.

You can downright refuse, lol! It's ok! There are so many names out there :). You'll find one. Start making lists and cross off the absolutely nots from both of you and go with what's left. We are on kid 6 and plenty of refusals have been made. They all still got named and we don't regret any of them. In fact, with kid 4 she had a name from the first trimester on and in the 9th hour we each decided that we didn't like each other's picks (I picked first, he picked middle) she got a whole new name the day she was born, ha!

Atticus is a really great name choice. And I really like Sasha. The names I picked out are Isabella Faith Shane for a girl and Jeremy Rayven Shane for a boy. :)
  • This is our first, we're both excited and nervous. Lol If its a boy his name will likely be Vincent David and if it's a girl Claire Louise.
  • We are not finding out the baby's sex until delivery day, but as of right now, our top contenders are:

Girl: Eleanor Concetta (nickname "Nora", Concetta is a family name)
Boy: Connor Edward (added bonus- Connor means "lover of hounds"! We're a big dog family :) )
    Fur daughter: 02/2011
    Human sons: 11/2015 & 05/2017

  • We don't know what we're having yet... But I have a feeling it's a girl. Boy name is all set: Harris Robert. But I'm so stuck for a middle name for a girl, it will either be:
    Claire Olivia
    Claire Elizabeth

Claire is my mom's middle name, Elizabeth is mine. We're using so many family names I'm not sure if I want to continue it or add something new with Olivia... Any opinions? I want to have it decided by our scan next week.
  • Don't know what were having yet but names we have decided on Girl : Aria Joel ( sounds like Joe'l my late uncles name ) and Boy : Nicholas Martin ( unfortunately he will be a 3rd my hubby is pretty set with it

I love Claire Elizabeth! I am slightly biased, though, since I am an Elizabeth. You really can't go wrong with either MN though!
  • There's a lot of arias going to be born in November lol I love the name but after GOT it will be to popular for me... I'm looking for a first name to go with lyn as a middle name for a girl any suggestions???
