Re: RTT 2.0

  • I'm pretty sure they have cribs. I'm just afraid of her saying oh hell no to the cribs and waking the whole class up.

I don't have much experience with this exactly because LO is in an at-home daycare, so it's probably a little more flexible. But, I just wanted to say that he naps completely different there than he does at home. I'm not sure if the caregiver influences it or not, but he usually only naps once there and twice at home. He has another kid in the room he naps in, and naps alone in his crib at home. My point is, I think kiddos are pretty good at adapting to their environment, so hopefully your LO will do ok. It might be a rough beginning, but I bet she'll be fine quickly :).

  • A man cold has hit here! I hate these. Amazing how when I had the terrible flu, I kept watching LO, etc. but this man cold will be totally debilitating. Joy! I just hope it passes quickly.
  • Haha! Man colds are the worst! My husband texted me the other day to let me know that he had caught my cold. I copied the text and sent it to my mom to tell her to call in the troops. They are ridiculous. I worked a whole week with my cold without a complaint. Day one and my husband left work early.
  • Well, it turns out he does have a fever, so there's that. I still hope it passes asap. I don't find myself at my most empathetic. ;)
  • I'm struggling this week. LO has had a high fever (39-41 degrees celsius) since Sunday. Vomiting, lethargic. He hasn't been to daycare at all this week and my dad's been watching him while we're at work. We had to fight to get him into the doctor and they gave him antibiotics. If his fever doesn't break tomorrow, we have to take him back in. I've barely adjusted to being back at work and my head is not in the game. He's never been this sick before and I hate that I can't be home with him. My mom makes me feel that I'm not doing enough for him. I got up at 6am this morning and didn't sit down until 9:30pm.

Sorry for the long vent/pity party. I need to go to bed. For like a week.
  • So sorry, @Talltrees82 ! My LO got really sick for the first time when I had to be at work too. It sucked. I just wanted to cuddle him. But to have guilt from your mom on top of that is awful! What more could she possibly want you to do?! Is she there helping your Dad?

It sounds to me like you are doing everything you can. Well done, mama. It's hard. I hope you get some sleep, that your mom gets a new perspective, and, above all, that your LO is on the mend ASAP.
  • Thanks @sporty1216. He was up again last night but he ate about 3oz so that's something! My mom's at home on medical leave right now and she's not physically able to take care of LO, but she's full of "advice" on her end. It's frustrating. I know she's just worried, but it's the way she says things. Anyway. I'm taking tomorrow off, so I just have to fight through today. And I'm meeting up with some friends this evening which will be a nice break from all this!
  • Glad he kept some food down, @Talltrees82 ! And I'm glad you have both some time off and some time with friends coming up! Hang in there.
  • DH's boss lives out of town. He has been in town this week, so DH has been out for dinner meetings. He was supposed to go home today, but decided he wanted to meet me, so changed his flight to leave tomorrow. He did this without checking with DH! WTF?! So I have spent the last hour begging friends to watch our kids tonight. How clueless can someone be?! We have no family here, our babysitter now has a real job and is never available, so all we have are friends. I'm just shocked someone wouldn't check before changing flights!
  • So sorry about the sick babies. Sending healthy thoughts.

Today is our big day, waiting for her to get out of surgery. This has been theosr difficult thing ever. I just want to be able to start the healing.
  • Oh, @manders803 ! I'm sure the waiting is so hard! Here's to lots of post-surgery cuddles and speedy healing!
  • Today has been a magical nap day--1:45 in the morning and 1:15 this afternoon.  Both times, he woke up happy and just kind of goofed around in his crib for a bit before I went to get him.  I love this. It has never happened before.  And please, please let it bode well for sleep tonight!
  • Thinking about you @manders803!! Hope she's out and surgery went well. Prayers for quick and easy healing!!
  • @manders803 you are so strong, mama! I hope your LO is out of surgery and that everything went well. Sometimes the choices we have to make as parents are hard, but you have to do what's right for your LO. Thinking of you, keep us posted.
  • Thanks guys. Surgery went well and she is resting comfortably for now. It has been an intense day to say the least but the resiliency of babies never ceases to amaze. Hopefully we will be out of the hospital this weekend....
  • Glad it went well, @manders83! Prayers for swift healing!
  • manders83 - Glad to hear things went well and hope for a speedy recovery for LO and strength for you to get through!

  • LO had a little stomach bug the other day, and was sweet enough share it with his mama. Just in time for DH to be out of town too. I think I might die.
  • Oh no, @0jamielynn0 ! That sounds rough! Hang in there!
  • Thanks guys. Surgery went well and she is resting comfortably for now. It has been an intense day to say the least but the resiliency of babies never ceases to amaze. Hopefully we will be out of the hospital this weekend....

I'm so glad it went well! I hope you get out soon and can go home and relax with the family!

  • So tomorrow is the biggest event of the year at work and I am basically in charge of everything...marketing, event planning and keeping it running smoothly tomorrow while also floating around and helping customers in parts, sales and service. I made myself so sick with stress today... I really really hope everything goes well and then it can be over!

  • Oh, good luck, @BADASBKRCK ! I'm sure it'll be a great success! It sounds like you've done a great job preparing and I hope tomorrow just goes as smoothly as possible! Let us know how it all turns out!
  • @BADASBKRCK get some rest tonight and I know you will do great tomorrow! I hope everything goes as planned!
  • Thanks guys! DD and I are both going to bed in a few minutes lol. I will be back on the bump Sunday!

  • Got my hair cut and then came out to a coffee shop (a new independent one, even, with really, really, really good coffee) to do some work.  Feels so good.  But it's also a little sad that my "treat" to myself after the haircut is getting work done.  Ah, well.  I'm enjoying it, so I guess I shouldn't question it!
  • So apparently with the ability to walk came the ability to scale walls and furniture. Help!
  • Uh oh @mallyandryan ! That looks like trouble!
  • LO has been obsessed with the dog's toys today. But it was super cute when he tried to throw the ball for our pup! The dog wasn't sure what to make of it.
  • Whoa, @mallyandryan ! That's nuts!
  • Poor LOs nose has been like a faucet the past few days. It's so bad that she has red irritation between her nose and mouth. I've been putting Aquaphor on it but I think I need to put something on it to help it heal... Think putting neosporin on it would be ok? I worry because it is very close to her mouth.
  • @sherks11, I'd worry about her licking it too. Maybe wait until tonight when she's asleep to apply it? Also, I'm a big fan of coconut oil. It's kind of my go to for skin stuff, and it usually seems to help, although I've never used it for chapped skin like that. Might be worth a shot? Hope she gets to feeling better!
  • How did your event go, @BADASBKRCK ?

LO got bit by an ostrich today.

    There's something I've never said before! :)

Edited to add that I want to hear about the event too, @BADASBKRCK!
  • Also would love to hear how @BADASBKRCK 's event went today! I bet she is sleeping after a busy day :) I hope it was great!
  • I'm still alive! The event went great! We had over 500 people show and it all went smoothly. Thank goodness. I feel like I could sleep for a week now!

  • Congrats, @BADASBKRCK ! That's got to be a relief!
  • I've been at the coast for the last 3 days. It was terrible weather but I still managed to get sunburned. We discovered that our child cannot be trusted near a body of water. She was crawling at top speed towards the ocean everytime we turned our heads! She loved it!

I did a little catching up. Sorry about the sick whiny husbands and I'm glad to hear the event went well @BADASBKRCK!
How did your LO respond to an ostrich bite @0jamielynn0? That sounds awful and hilarious. Makes me think of, "dude, where's my car?".
  • Yay @BADASBKRCK ! I'm so glad all went well!
  • I too am curious about this ostrich bite!
