Hodor 2.0!!!

Re: Hodor 2.0!!!

  • Labor is hard work, so people want to talk about it. I don't mind hearing number of pushes or how long someone pushed. I am much more squeamish about tears and clots.

  • I guess it's notable if someone isn't pushing that many times--but without a frame of reference it does seem like, ok, great! 6 pushes! I'm fully aware that my experience is going to be what it is, so I'm trying not to build expectations of what happens on average, etc. so I just tend to gloss over the details. It is nice to recognize the excitement in these details, though.

I ended up coming into work after all, albeit a little late. I fully intend to Bump all day.

@ladythrice, you're a rock star! Congratulations on finishing! This is a banner year for you, it seems.

Finally, I have an OCD DH who was on a tear this past weekend with his 'chores'--he lumps cleaning/organizing/tasks under this one rubric, and it's constant. It is nice to have someone more responsible than myself about keeping up with housework, as then I do more than I probably would normally out of guilt. Sometimes.

It's endearing to recognize a nesting phase in him as well (mine hit the weekend before).

  • My due date was last Friday. We thought I was in labor. Spent the day at l&d bit got sent home. Been having contractions every 5 or so minutes still. Now I am back at work and every single person has asked me why I'm here/where's my baby /why haven't you had that baby yet. It's getting really old!
  • True story: I've never seen Pitch Perfect. I'm fixing that right now. Oh, Netflix... what would I do without you?

I tried to once and couldn't get into it. Oddly, DF has watched it. I don't know about that guy sometimes. /:)

Just waddled for 2 miles around a park, bounced on my ball for an hour, now it's nap time. Contractions off and on for the last couple days, maybe I should jump DH when he gets home from the gym, I'm getting tired of the useless contractions, bring on the real thing or go away!
AMEN.  I'm sick of my body practicing; lets go or stop it!

  • Pretty positive you can change your region on Netflix. Not sure how, but my boyfriend used to do it all the time so we could watch different shows. I'm sure Mr. Google could help!
  • @Slaps, anyway we can have that stupid "oer due" thread closed? X(

    I don't think it's technically breaking any rules. :|
It's not unfortunately, but I will be naughty and do it if she carries on.
    You win the internet today.
Damn, there's no rule about inflicting pain and suffering throuhg your posts to another member?  Seems TB needs to come up with some tact guidelines for recent losses.

    This is unforgivable.

I know I know :( my friends all went in high school I was still underage by Canadian terms so I didn't bother and haven't had a chance since. Hopefully going in march for my friends bachelorette party (her little sister is still underage)
  • I take one glorious nap and the trolls come in!

Re Canada: I've been to Banff and Calgary, went on a week horseback trek through the mountains from Lake Louise. Beautiful country you got there @misskilljoy‌!
  • I'm not sure about snowy owls either but we do have wild turkeys. Not that I've ever seen either. I live in the city. My SIL recently asked if I even get birds in the city. I was like, yeah, they sit on our telephone poles.
  • Tons of turkeys here in the Pacific north west. Lots of owls, though I've never seen a snowy.

And since I couldn't post it in the other thread, this is what I want in my belly right now:

This. All I can think about now.
  • I'm waiting for my massage. There are cookies in the waiting room. Glad I came early, I already had 2.
  • Speaking of school... My financial aid is in danger because of "attendance issues".. I missed one class because I went to L&D..... I explained that is not an attendance issue, but rather a medical thing.

The lady looked at me and said "you're still pregnant obviously so why did you go to L&D?"

    I am pissed!!!! :(

  • @misskilljoy I have a turkey and geese issue pretty much weekly. Those coyotes and deer are my backyard friends. Not sure about the owls in the US though don't think i've ever seen one and I pretty much live in the woods (no joke) but maybe elsewhere they do have them here.

  • Boyfriend and my son are currently making me cupcakes as I'm sitting on the couch doing absolutely nothing. I'm ok with pregnancy lasting forever as long as they keep waiting on me :)
  • @misskilljoy, I talked to the teacher who's class I missed and she e-mailed the financial aid department and told them that I have turned in all of my homework and the situation could not have been prevented since my and baby's health come first and they changed their attitude pretty quickly. I am lucky to have nice teachers. :)
Thank goodness for that! I can imagine the sick feeling thinking your financial aid was being revoked. Glad it worked out.
  • @misskilljoy I hate Turkey's. One of those bastards flew over my car this morning, really thought it was going to be more body work for my car.

I cleaned my bits and bobs (@Slaps lingo), shaved my legs, and washed my hair... and my doctor didn't even want to look at my hairy vag. #Disappointment

I've started trying to do all of this at least every second day just in case. I'm sure the day I slack is when my water will break.... Probably in Target.

Am I the only one who said "Fuck it" and left all hairy parts as is even with the impending prospect of labor? Seriously, hadn't EVEN shaved my pits for like a week, let alone legs or wild lady jungle.

And the Target bit just made me laugh because my mom and I walked around Target while I was starting to go into early labor and it felt like an eternity because I kept worrying my water would break and we'd have to rush out of there.

I decided to shave my legs two days ago--hadn't felt the urge in weeks, though, so it was quite the process. I think I'm just looking for more to do now that we have most baby-related things in order and there have been no signs of labor yet.

Speaking of which, I'm due next week and I'm perfectly comfortable with LO coming whenever he or she is ready. At my appointment yesterday my usually cheerful doctor seemed down and over it. She walked in and said, nothing yet? Then said she hoped the baby would come sooner rather than later. From subsequent comments I got the sense that maybe she was worried about the baby's size, though she estimates it at what sounds to me like a reasonable 7.5 to 8 pounds based on an ultrasound a few weeks ago and her measurements/feeling around at the office. Or she was trying to sympathize, except I have never expressed feeling impatient. Or maybe she doesn't want to hang around during the holidays, except she doesn't do deliveries, so... I left feeling demoralized, then later just got angry at the whole thing. This was one of a handful of appointments DH couldn't make it to, and I really wish he had been so I could get his read on the situation!

Anyhow, whatever, she can't sweep my membranes because I'm not dilated at all, so I didn't have to push back on that, and she didn't offer any suggestions when I mentioned the heartburn/vomitous feeling that kept me up the past two nights. I'm blaming the nor'easter for people being in a mood yesterday, including the guy who asked me to open the door to my work building for him (he had a trolley), despite there being 10 other people being around and my being obviously pregnant. I did it but gave him a death stare.

ETA: Sorry, this turned into a dear diary post!

  • Ladies.. just wanted to let you know baby C&E is on his way. Water broke at approximately 1:40am. Resting fairly comfortably with the epidural.
