My cat hadn't gotten into the crib but there is absolutely no keeping her off the changing pad. It's a losing battle so I have given up. Pretty sure she will lose interest when it smells like baby.
@pooky08 does Crib Cat go outside? If not, there are these nail caps we put on our kitty's front claws to prevent furniture scratching. You can buy them on eBay for super cheap. If kitty would let you put them on, ours didn't love it but he allowed it. I only ask if he's outside as the caps might impact the ability to protect self. They even makes fun colors!
And usually if you can't get them on yourself- a lot of veterinarians will put them on for you.
Makes me feel better that like all of us habe insomnia. I just sent 3 children and my BF to school/work spending the morning on the couch watching movies and snuggling with my little man.
I had some wicked insomnia last night too. Managed to fall asleep for about two hours but ugh. OB appointment at ten or I'd tell DH to just take the car and GTFO of here. Instead I have to drop him off at work at nine.
I think I couldn't sleep because I'm nervous my doc is going to set an induction date today.
I couldn't sleep the night before last either. Oh the pregnant life.
@pooky08, mine is also still breech and RCS is scheduled. I am hoping we'll be home for Christmas.
@misskilljoy, I don't think I saw an update on how your shower went, but I hope you had a nice time and got some nice things for baby! I am also doing the last of my baby shopping today -- headed to Buy Buy Baby in a bit, and will do Amazon tonight.
@Serunatu, don't you know that YOU cease to matter at this point? Only partially kidding. It's one of the things about having a baby that bothers me -- I feel like the focus shifts to baby and moms often don't get the support they need right when they need it most -- at the end of pregnancy and in the early post-partum period.
D14 November Siggy Challenge - How I Feel 3rd Tri:
@desertsun - Ahh yeah, with everything else on Saturday it just did not feel right to mention my shower. It was really nice. Some family members who were estranged for years were able to make it and that was really important to my mom. It was great being able to include them in a happy family celebration. My little sister is a chef so she made THE BEST spread of food. I'm a pretty low key person so we mostly spent our time relaxing, chatting, opening gifts, playing with the kids who were there. It was a calm but VERY welcome afternoon!
@misskilljoy, I figured that was why we didn't hear about it, but I hoped that it was okay to ask today. I'm glad it was calm but enjoyable for you!
Did your doc have anything to say about your itchiness?
D14 November Siggy Challenge - How I Feel 3rd Tri:
OB check went well, baby still cooking and now holding at 3m dilated and 50% effaced. At least DH got to go watch the Giants WIN in Nashville yesterday!
For @pooky08: I have been projectile pooped on one time by this little monster but besides that, soooo many poop diapers! It is amazing the amount of poop that comes out of something so small. Poop!
D14 November Siggy Challenge: The feels of 3rd trimester...
Can someone tell me about cluster feeding? I decided not to take a BF class because a) I don't like people; b) I'm lazy; and c) my hospital has a great LC reputation and program. So. What is it? What's the point? Is it as terrible for mom as it sounds? Please be my google. I'm sick and my house flooded today. And I'm waiting for my BPP.
@Cryssteen cluster feeding is basically just back to back to back feedings that usually occur around a growth spurt. They're not bad once you and your LO are in a good BF place and your nipples aren't too raw. Buy earth mamas nipple butter!!! It's wonderful.
D14 November Siggy Challenge: The feels of 3rd trimester...
Ok , so I've come to the realization that I will be having this baby with no support during delivery. My best friend is going to be out of town right near my due date for work and a sick family member out of state, I have decided that my other best friend will likely annoy the shit out of me during labor and I don't want her there (love her to death ...she's so fun and has a big heart but she is loud and obnoxious and chronically late and breaks like everything she comes into contact with). My moms husband has a serious medical issue and she can't leave him alone for long so she won't be flying out until after the baby is born. And baby daddy is a flake when it comes to actually being around when needed.
So, it's likely going to just be me and baby and I'm scared! I cannot afford a doula, unfortunately.
@designchica, that is a tough situation. I think you're right to not just have someone be there for the sake of having someone be there--I think there's only one other person I'd be ok with having in the room besides my DH. I hope it works out that your best friend can end up being there--or is the timing definitely not going to work out with the dates she's gone?
@baycamp, I feel you on the pressure to perform. My mom is coming on my due date (next Tuesday!), and every time I broach the topic of her changing her flight to a later date if it looks like I'm not progressing she's like, that's ok! I don't mind! Except, I mind. I do not relish the thought of going into labor with my mom around in our 2-bedroom apartment, and then having to figure out how to handle transporting her places since I'm in NYC and my mom has regressed in terms of acting like an independent adult and insists she's fine just staying at home ALL DAY. She visited over the summer and I almost lost it after 4 days, and that's when I was at work during the day. Plus, I want to maximize the three weeks she's here with baby time. Anyhow, I need to figure out how to be honest with her, but completely changing my family's passive aggressive communication patterns seems a tall order right now.
I love all the cat pictures! I wish I had one to share on my work computer. We got the dresser and glider delivered this weekend, and set up the pack n play and rock n play and changing pad (on the dresser). My cat hasn't yet tried to settle into any of these spots, but she's intensely curious about what's going and has been very snuggly, to the point of running to meet me every morning when I come out of the bedroom. I hope we'll all get through the baby transition ok.

All these pictures make me wish we could have a cat!
@designchica - I am so sorry you are in this situation. I second maybe reaching out to some doula services in your area and seeing if they have any students who need experience or if they can work with you on price or a payment plan. That being said, OB nurses, for the most part, are really great people. If they know you are there alone, they will normally work to help give you some extra support. We will all be there with you in spirit! But I hope it can work out where you can have someone there in person.
Thank you for the suggestions to look into a doula in training, ladies. I contacted my hypnobabies teacher today who is a doula and asked if she has any contacts of anyone who might be open to that.
Had my last OB appointment today, 3cm and 60%.
Induction next Wednesday, unless I go on my own.
Do you get checked for effacement every time? My doctor has never even looked at my vagina other than to swab for gbs and I'm starting to wonder if she is really an Ob!! Kidding, but seriously....I'm 37w2d and she hasn't even taken a look. Maybe too soon? I should add that I had a different ob who did a check up earlier in my pregnancy, I've only been going to this one for two months. My other ob decided not to be an ob after dec 31st, and I'm due the 27th. Her malpractice insurance expires on the 31st so I decided time for a new doctor
I have no idea what this kid is doing in my belly these days but it seriously feels like there are two babies because I can feel a solid ridge down BOTH sides of my belly, with a clearly soft area in the middle.
Pretty sure she's just contorted herself in some crazy way and it's her shoulder I can feel on the left. The right is obviously her butt because yesterday she was dragging her heel back and forth along my belly and I could see/feel it clearly.
Or I officially have the weirdest contractions ever, I dunno. Something.

probably too early. My OB didn't start until 38 weeks and then only because I was due to be induced at 39.
@designchica I'm glad you are looking into a doula trainee. I'm also sorry that you have to at all! I hope you find someone reliable that will be your advocate.
@bvsbabymomma so excited for you! I hope everything goes well--glad you're comfortable after the epi.
I'm up for the second night in a row with reflux that makes me feel like I'm going to throw up at any minute if I'm anything less than fully upright. I've been taking a prescription strength acid reducer for a few weeks and in and off since second tri so I'm unused to this. Sucks.
After migrating back and forth from the couch, I've decided to give up and watch tv and go in for a half day of work after my lunchtime doctor's appt. that way I may also miss the worst of the nor'easter rain.
I'm going to take this opportunity to belatedly post a picture of my cat, who is cuddled up on my lap, keeping me company.
Home today with DD, we got a snow day. Relaxing, drinking coffee before I start a Christmas craft with her.
Want to swap? I am about to clean my bathrooms!
My bathrooms are the main focus of my nesting and it's really irritating because I can't seem to get them clean enough. DH his the toilet brush and swifter pads from me. Lol
@Chayshay1408 - My husband has definitely done way more housecleaning these last nine months than any other time. He was a great househusband while he was laid off from work and did a fair amount of cleaning then, but right now he's going waaaaay above and beyond.
I am jealous of these husbands. My husband cleaned out our pantry but that was because we had mice. He bribed me and said if I cleaned off the clutter from our kitchen table he would bring up the Christmas tree, totally worked.

@misskilljoy - Sounds like a great shower! Bonus points to your sister for making the pregnant lady awesome food

At least since I moved I have a dishwasher... That makes it slightly better.

I'm not going to tell you about the pushes, but I'll tell you if I poop in the birth tub and they have to scoop it out with a goldfish net, deal?
