  • @misskilljoy - I thought it was weird too.  I had to get DH to get out his phone calculator and convert it for me!

@marsavary bish calling me out the one night I have shit to do. I gave a bj last night, that helps ripen right? @misschristinemarie I am counting down to baby time and completely unprepared. I have my 37 week appointment tomorrow and nervous about it..

on the I didn't know I was pregnant! I honestly wouldn't have known until week 20. I didn't really show until then, I had minor movement that I could have passed off as gas. My husband is really on this kick that I have a hidden twin in my bump and we are having twins. I have not had an ultrasound since week 18 and with the Doppler they just check one spot for a heartbeat so he is adamant it is possible.

So wait...do period cramps actually mean you're dilating? Or was that sarcasm? Forgive me I'm slow today. :-/

@stormygrace, My doctor said it's a good sign your body is getting some work done preparing!

Totally off topic, earlier I said "my doctor appointment" it made me question, do you say doctor's appointment or doctor appointment?

    -----QBF-----

This is a hot topic for debate. Technically either is correct, but for very different reasons. And you have people who will defend either construction with the fire of a thousand suns, so use whichever you feel more comfortable with.

  • I just read about the period cramps, I started having them last week. If you have gushing with it definitely call your doctor so they can see if it is fluid. But after 3 days I was still closed, my doctor said basically just have to let them go. I go in tomorrow so I am not sure if they will do another check because I still have had them, but I will let you ladies know.

I knew something was up before I knew I was pregnant. My appetite went through the roof and I was an emotional wreck. Then literally a week after I found out, morning sickness hit with a vengeance.
I had a good 2 and a half weeks of no morning sickness after I found out, but then I was so sick I could barely stand it. I was prescribed Zofran.... It was my BEST FRIEND. :)

Edit because I can't spell words.

  • I was spotting when I found out I was pregnant. I was TTC though, so I peed on all the sticks! I knew I was pregnant at 4 weeks. :-)

We were TTC but it wasn't the first go around so I wasn't expecting it to happen so fast. I had just bought a 12pk of Dos Equis and after a few it occurred to me to rule the possibility out. Wasn't even due for my period for another two days. 4 weeks here too. DF got the rest of my beer ha ha
  • There was someone in 1st tri that said she is 6 weeks and can't fit into her pants, then said "bump pics?" to another poster. No, no 6 week bloat pics please.
  • Not gonna lie, being off for a year really makes me hope that I can EBF for as long as possible because rumour has it, it keeps AF away for a whiiiiile...

I was the lucky rare one who got a period while EBF. Not cool.

This was me also with my last. Hoping for a miracle this time and not having a period
  • I gain weight like it's my job when pregnant, plus I get all-day nausea weeks 5-10, so I would be pretty sure something was up. Plus I have a regular period. But I suppose if you had irregular periods and no symptoms, you could probably go 20ish weeks before you started showing/feeling movement? I can't imagine going a full pregnancy without knowing, though.

As far as periods while BFing -- I breastfed for 2 years. I had a period most of that time. It is a myth that EBF will prevent your period returning. Some women get it back right away, some women after a couple months, some women get closer to a year. I advise at least using condoms from 6 weeks post-partum on though! You can ovulate without getting a period first, so you can get pregnant before you get your first pp period!

I knew at 4 weeks too. I was peeing on OPK sticks like it was my job. Then I kept peeing on digi preg tests so I could watch the weeks estimate go up ;)

  • My breasts went up a cup size about 3 days before my missed period. DH asked me if that was a sign of pregnancy, and I said it was, and he said he was sure I was pregnant. We were TTC, and I had regular periods, so I got the BFP the first day I didn't have it, but DH will always say he knew before.

  • @marsavary‌ - I tend to get dizzy, and my bp has always run on the low side.

I'm more than slightly jealous of all you ladies with cramp-free periods. The only thing that saved me was going on the pill. I'd literally be incapacitated when they hit hard. It was seriously insane.
Not looking forward to what's gonna happen once this sweet little uterus-protector is outta here... :(

  • @misskilljoy that was my sons weight when he was born 4 days before his EDD. I only pushed for ten mins and barely tore so hope that makes you feel better!

My dr decided yesterday at my 37week appt that I was measuring big (I have been my whole pregnancy) and wants to send me in for a u/s next week.... sorta pointless now doc but sure I'll go see her and see how big she's gotten!

Makes me feel a little better @Shortstack06. This was while looking at wedding dresses and thinking about how much it's going to suck to try and lose weight. Why must I always do things backwards?! :) My turkey is estimated at 9lbs at 37&4. His head measurement was disheartening as well lol So I actually hope her honesty was true @misskilljoy‌ I do think I figured out one of his crazy movements that I see all the time - he was holding his toes and kicking during the ultrasound. Good luck trying that when you're swaddled little bugger ;)
My best friend postponed her May wedding to September because I am MOH due 1/1 and the Bride herself is due 2/11. She gave us plenty of time, I hope, to lose some weight.

  • @misskilljoy he just seemed concerned about her size but I'll have to look into that also.

I'm hoping for a headful of hair!
  • @misskilljoy I am curious to see about hair! That must be interesting to learn the first time you see it.

  • My best friend is getting married the first weekend in May. I had to really guess when I ordered my bridesmaid's dress a week ago--I went up two sizes and think it will be enough. If not I'm hoping there will be enough time to get some tailor to work in a panel or some other solution.

Forgot to take my heartburn medication this morning, and I'm only really sad because I wanted to get clam chowder for lunch but now think I should take it easy on the cream since I'm also meeting friends for dinner tonight at a mexican restaurant. Or maybe I should just go all out and hit up the drugstore for a roll of tums before lunch...

  • @marsavary‌ - Or he'll just kick so hard he gets out of his swaddle. ;)

Very true! For just being a week old, my LO is a swaddle escape artist.

And to second @nedralynn‌'s experience, LO was 9 lbs and I only pushed for twenty minutes and got one stitch. I actually had no idea I had been cooking such a big baby until I saw the midwife's reaction.
Just some reassurance that even if she does turn out to be 11 lbs you may not have a hard time at all!

I haven't gotten any growth scans other than my AS at 20 weeks, possibly because I'm a very low risk pregnancy? I don't know if I'd like to know, but 6 pounds or 9 pounds either way that's some hard work!

    Which reminded me of this......

Most people don't get any scans after their anatomy scan! In Canada, the AS is the ONLY one lots of women get because they opt out of the NT scan in first trimester. Some don't even bother with the AS.

I only started this growth scan extravaganza because I had high blood pressure at 26 weeks when I switched from family doctor to OB. My OB wanted to get a "baseline" for growth to make sure that things were developing well. He only really planned for two scans - one at 28 weeks and one at 32 weeks. Then I started measuring huge (six weeks ahead in fundal height) so he wanted to make sure I didn't have too much fluid, either, and my baby was breech, so we were keeping an eye to see if she would flip.

Now we're continuing with growth scans and BPPs because my blood pressure is holding steady and my blood work is awesome, so we're using the scans as a way to reassure us that we can hold off on inducing and let this baby fatten up as much as possible before she makes an appearance. :)
Okay, this makes sense, I'm happy to hear BP is steady and blood work is awesome!
  • Yay @Noodlesandrice‌!! Hope everything is going well!!

Last night woke up on 2 different occasions to what felt and sounded ((shudder)) like my pubic bone breaking in half as I moved in my sleep... love me some SPD!! [-(
  • When I try to move LO he usually just gets stuff as a board and I can feel feet in my ribs and pressure in my lower abdomen.

    What a stinker! Lol
