Got a message on my starbucks app for 50% off holiday drinks.... I want an eggnog latte but it's snowy and cold. First world problem.
GASP.
Eggnog... now I'm going to have to send DH out for some. Mmmm.
@hordol I'm glad they were able to figure it out, hope you got some relief! ER visits suck.
So we fed LO a spinach blend puree on Friday evening, and he's been having solid man poops ever since. Is spinach known to do that? Pretty terrifying stuff.
Oh, and dogs definitely prefer these diapers (barf).
Question because I'm honestly curious...why do people refer to themselves in the 3rd person when speaking to their child? Like 'what did mommy say about touching that' or 'didn't mommy tell you XYZ'
Do kids understand that better than 'what did I say'? It seems unnecessarily confusing. There. An actual random thought for RTT.
I read somewhere that kids don't understand pronouns at first so it's easier for them to understand "mommy" or "Ava" vs "I" and "you". I can't remember where I came across that, so take my unsupported nugget of info for what it's worth :-)
Helps them with 'labeling' and building early vocabulary. Now, if the kid's 5 and the mom's saying stuff like that...
I found my first seemed to understand better that way - so we used third person a lot when she was beginning to speak. She is just over 2 now and is much more comfortable now using words like, you, me, yours and I properly. I am so used to doing third person now that sometimes I have to make a conscious effort not to do it.
I use a mixture of both and don't ever really even think about it.
@dani+california I wonder if moms of toddlers/older kiddos find themselves saying things like that more often because they are themselves constantly referred to as "Mommy/momma" so it just becomes a habit. But those are just my musings. I'll have some more anecdotal evidence in a few years
Went upstairs after the 4am feeding and got to sleep until 7am! Evan woke up at 6:15 and hung with DH so that I could get a little more rest. We may take turns sending the other person upstairs for part of the night - I let DH do it the night before so that he could get extra sleep before his 25k race yesterday.
I think I'm feeling ready for Evan to transition to his bedroom. He's been napping in there very happily for about a week and I think he may even be more comfortable in there than in the pack n play (we have a mattress for it, but still). Problem is our bedroom is downstairs and the baby room is upstairs on the other side of the house. So, once Evan moves, we'll move into the guest room. I'm just not sure I want to give up our room - I love it so . Anyone else in this position? What are you doing?

@hlm184 Their site says 6weeks to 12years. I'll have to fill out registration paperwork just like if he was enrolled full time but then it says you can reserve it up to 30 days out. I'm thinking monthly spa days or something awesome.
It's offered 6-6, so no date night. But I'll ask when I'm there if they do that as a special every once in a while.
Our base offers the first Friday of the month has hourly care for date night. You should look into it!
OAN I'm a little jealous of the mobile babies but still glad that my baby proofing isn't needed right this second. Dylan isn't really interested in crawling. My mom is convinced that he's gonna walk without crawling for Christmas.
Forget crawling, my LO still won't sit up properly. She can sit unassisted but always topples over after a bit. She can almost push herself up sitting but then stops when she is almost there. She gets so frustrated. I booked a photo session for this coming weekend months ago, fully expecting she would be able to sit up by then. Now I am a little bummed because its unlikely she is going to suddenly start this week. And you know she's gonna start the day after the photo session....
@snowbound here are a couple pics of the hats you made : ) one pic is from when we first got it. The other from today. The BBQ sauce is gone : ( I add the hot sauce to my salad dressing to give it a good kick! Thanks. Xo
So cute! I'm glad you like them and that they fit!

@juniper75 - Mine too! We did his 6 month pictures and the photographer was like, "just have him sit up for some shots" and we had to say that he wasn't really a sitter yet . I just sat him up with my hand behind him and then right when she told me, pulled away, and she snapped pictures until he fell over. We did get one cute one, though he isn't the happiest looking baby in it....
Hope you get some magical sitting abilities from your LO soon!

I bought myself a knockoff ergo on Amazon today. It was $20. Reviews were good, and I figure if I like it and find it shabby I can always upgrade to the real thing (or buy another knockoff!). We also got a new umbrella stroller, in preparation for our vacation.
And....I got the naked2 palette, because you ladies are a bad influence.

Thanks ladies - I know I will still get some nice pics but its a special holiday "lights" session the photographer does every year (spots sold out in less than a day) and I bought the girls the cutest matching holiday jammies to wear in the photo with their names embroidered on them and you won't be able to see it if she isn't sitting up. DH was pissed at me for booking it so now I am going to have to hear I told you so.... Ah well - I am hoping to get at least one decent photo of the two girls together even if its one their tummies.
I'm going to San Francisco for a conference this week and I'm so nervous that DH isn't going to be able to handle DD when I'm gone. He's only put her to bed alone a handful of times (maybe twice). I really hope this goes okay because it's really stressing me out!
Try not to stress - I always worried with my first when I had to leave her with DH and they always figured it out.

I have been playing with this palette since it arrived yesterday.
@vinny424 this has been your nightly babywearing chat with Aunt Vinny.
Happy birthday @aronie82!!!! Hope your day was awesome!
I moved my Mama out of her house today. She's shacking up with her adorable boyfriend and I'm so excited for them. My parents have been divorced for 5 years, so it's nice to be able to close that chapter. I didn't even feel sad at all, which is weird.
I'm hanging out on the couch watching football and addressing Christmas cards and pretending that tomorrow is NOT Monday. Sigh. I need another weekend, please.
Enjoy the non-mobility, moms of non-crawlers. Sullivan went from kinda crawling to speed demon in a week and is now workin on pulling himself up. Mama ain't ready.
Haven't seen a discussion of this in a while...drinking and nursing. Had been going by the rule that if you'd feel ok to drive, you're OK to nurse, but starting to second guess. DH tends to buy fairly high ABV craft beers. Would you have 2 of those in a 3 hour period and nurse? 2-3x/week? Or is that kind of getting into a gray area. Feel free to be brutally honest.
@myla14 I follow the ok-to-drive-ok-to-nurse rule and wouldn't second guess it. Higher abv beers are about as boozy as wine, right? So the equivalent of 2-3 glasses of wine in 3 hours? Still fine. I've never felt tipsy and have had a couple drinks in that timeframe.

@myla14 - what's your tolerance like? For me, that'd probably be fine, but I'm a heavyweight. If you had them at the beginning of the three hours and then had almost 3 hours before you fed again, I think you'd be fine? So not an expert about this stuff, but I've definitely done two glasses of wine if I knew it would be a good while until LO ate again.

Thanks, ladies. As I've complained about various places, LO wakes up 2-3 hrs after going down. I tend to have 1 beer at 7, feed him, then maybe have another. I don't feel drunk and would drive, but I don't feel absolutely nothing, either. I'm contemplating a second beer before the first wakeup and trying to decide if I'm rationalizing bad behavior:).
Joined the mommy and me FB group for the base here. I posted an intro message and one lady responded she also has a 7month old. So of course I FB-stalked her to see if we could be friends. She is a member of the "Gluten free members of Facebook" group. So unless she has celiac disease for real, we cannot be friends.
Sooo Quinn is nowhere near crawling, but lately he's been rolling around quite a bit more. Anyway tonight at my mom's he was doing this hilarious planking thing...like, why crawl when I can Superman the shit outta this floor? It was hilarious. I love this age!
Mines doing this too! We call it flying. Her expression is like she's fully expecting to move.
I really hope Edolie does this. It will provide hours of entertainment for me!!
