@Teresa1896 I am so sorry. Sending many thoughts and prayers your way.
@MLC912 they've been $160 everywhere I've looked.
@Shelbysteffens DH and I saw LO do this as we were lowering the crib. Ahh! Those slats provide just the right amount of surface for little fingers to grip. He won't be seven months for
May I complain? it's sort of a counter-intuitive rant.
I become irritated when people complain about stuff that's petty. I do it, we all do it. My kids sleep like shit, always have. I become (irrationally?) annoyed when people say they lose an hour of sleep or they went to bed late. Come on, you have a baby. It's going to happen. Cherish the moments because you never know when it's going to be over (morbid?). I don't like 30 days of thanks because I am grateful every single day of my life. I mean, on paper, I've had the shittiest year of my life. With accidents, injuries, tension, and the financial burden from all of this. I could complain. I could say "DH broke his leg and still doesn't work full time and I still take care of the majority of everything because of on-going difficulties. I fell and hit my head and needed surgery today because of the trauma caused in my mouth that I couldn't take care of as soon as I should have because I had a brand new baby, a three year old, and a husband who was immobile." I could complain because DH has yet to stay up with the baby because before his accident the baby was my job and everything else he would handle, but that only lasted three weeks because he got into a terrible accident. However, I'm not going to complain. Today, and every day, not just in November or on Thanksgiving, I am thankful that my husband survived the crash. He was not wearing a helmet (horrific on several levels and bad judgement on his part), and he did hit his head. We are so lucky he didn't have any brain damage. He is still healing, and that's fine because he's here. I hit my head so hard on the stairs I broke my jaw. But that's okay, because pain is temporary for me and it's going to be fixed, but I'll make it through. I won't complain about sleepless nights and long days because I have a beautiful, healthy baby boy to share that with. I am so fortunate for my three year old daughter; she is beyond helpful. I am soo grateful every single moment. I am crying as I write this. The point of my complaining about complaining is this- life is over in moments, in a split second. Please just take into consideration how fortunate you are that you have family, people that love you, and life in general.
I'm sorry if you read this. I had surgery this morning and am feeling prolific apparently, lol. Life-altering things are okay to commiserate and complain about, but the important thing is to try to think of the positives, even if it takes a long time to do so. I have felt so many different emotions this last year, but grateful is something I try to feel every day.
@kseccomb17 big hugs. I find myself biting my tongue a lot these days. Many people need a whoooole lot of perspective. You are so amazing. You've gone through so much and you've held your family together!

What are some good lotions to use on baby? LO has developed some real dry patches on his legs and back. His face has also broke out in a red but dry type rash around his mouth. Any suggestions?
Thanks for the T&Ps, everyone. I'll update everyone later this afternoon, after their appts.
My 3-yr-old dd has one of her fevers again and has been out of commission for the past few days. I had to physically restrain her yesterday to have blood drawn (for the third time). They're close to diagnosing her with a periodic fever syndrome but want to rule out one more thing first. Great to have a diagnosis, but there's no real effective treatment options. So I'm looking down the road at the next 5-7+ yrs of her being miserable 3 days/mo, and it makes me so sad. It's "just" fevers and I'm glad it's nothing worse, but man....my poor baby. :-(

Oh, and now, my dd woke up with a croupy cough. In addition to pink eye and one of her fever episodes this week. That will make her third illness this WEEK. I quit!!!!

The sleep unicorn came! Dream fed at 11. It is currently 8:40 and she is still asleep. Please let this be the new normal!! She has never slept longer than 4-5 hours in a row.
DD started crawling. She's now slow chasing the dog hahaha. Now it's payback for all the drive by "kisses" he's given her.
I'm having a few mom and their babies over this afternoon and I'm so nervous for some reason! Why? I don't know!
DH thinks putting a playyard gate around the tv and shelves is baby proofing. Is it? I don't know how safe it is mainly because gate/fence is baby attractant for some reason. I say it all might need to go? Attached is a photo, yay or nay RTT?
We have our TV mounted on the wall out of reach. Then you would have to put all those breakable frames and nicknacks away. We baby proof by putting everything away. I'm a minimalist but if you want to keep stuff out, I suggest the gate.
Blaire rarely spits up, but today on the way to daycare, she was gnawing on her taggie and I heard a coughing noise. I get out of the car and there is epic spit up everywhere on her, the taggie, under her, all the straps and cover of the car seat. It was even dripping out the bottom. I went home and cleaned it, but I'm worried it will still smell.
@lia619 you should be scared! Muahahaha! Jk, I was nervous when you guys came here.
Catching up and can never remember who to tag. Anyway, out pipes always froze while growing up and we used a hair dryer to help thaw them. I think we busted a few hair dryer motors that way.
DS is crawling here, too. And pulling himself up on things, sometimes to standing. What?
My cats look at me like they have been put on a diet an hour after they've eaten. That look means nothing around here.
I don't even know where to start with baby proofing. So far, I've put an empty wine bottle and the wine rack on a higher shelf. Does that count?
Here's a totally random thought:
Remember bodysuits? I used to wear them all the time. Just realized they're adult onesies.
I have adult footy pj's. They are awesome. I wear them on Christmas Eve.
I think for our Christmas cards this year, I'm going to buy adult footy PJs with the butt flap and one for Quinn...we'll all sit by the fire with our flaps open and our cracks hanging out, with a suitable caption I haven't yet figured out. Hmmm. Suggestions? Here was last year's card. My parents were not amused.
Hahahaha, I bet this is the dirtiest your house has ever been.

For the caption I suppose referencing something about a yulletide log would be going too far?
Why is google full of worst case scenario? Ahh! I just took LO to the doc for the rash on his face/back/legs. He has eczema on his legs/back. The rash on his face is a different story and my LO looks nothing like the crazy pics on google.
I know many of you don't agree with elf on the shelf. We do it a little bit differently in our home. The elf does move each day, but we communicate with the elf who drops off a letter each day. The letters contain what Santa needs help with. They include- dropping dog food off to the local animal shelter, going through our own toys to donate to the salvation army, giving to toys for tots, donating clothes to our local "Coats for Kids" charity, etc. Of course we have fun things like making homemade reindeer food. Santa is also going to request more time spent as a family reading Christmas stories and playing outside doing activities in the snow. I know you don't need an elf to do these things but I see a little light in her eye with it. I don't think it has to be used as a creeping mechanism and having the elf make messes to prove their validity. I think it can be used for good things as well. Just food for thought.
You're right Dani. We got them in Big Sky on vacation. They aren't the cheapest in the world, but they actually are super cozy and they wear them whenever they can.
That's awesome, Vinny!! I hate that you feel the need to defend yourself on the stuffed animal. I don't think it's an issue at all. I would probably get flamed if I posted what our PNP looks like, but I'm doing what works for us!

DS Has 2 teeth on the verge of popping out. When I saw them I realized that is why he had been a turd the last week or so.
Yep. Sullivan's working on all four on the top. The outside two are coming in first. I'm SO gonna do the "all I want for Christmas are my two front teeth" thing when the two on the sides are in and the front two aren't.
What in the what. The doc gave us cream for LOs face. However, the printout days not to use it near the eyes, nose, or mouth AND not in patients younger than 2y/o. Hopefully it's just one of those things that isn't studied enough but is actually safe. Idk what I want to do now. I just want his perfect baby face back!
