  • @cnbean‌ good luck! The recovery really isn't too bad, I had it when DS1 was 2 months old. Just a heads up, fried food may move through you quicker now :). I'd say it was just my crazy body, but everyone I know that got their gallbladder out says the same thing.

My windshield sprouted a 3-ft-long crack today driving around in some snow. So sad. :-( I heard it crackle and watched it spread, and there was nothing I could do!

I can't believe it snowed today where you are, we totally missed this storm.
Really? We got a bit of snow- enough to really snarl up traffic in the Denver metro area. I bet you'll get some over the next few days!

  • I'm off today for veterans' day and made an appt for LO's flu shot booster. It's 12 degrees out, and now dd had a fever. So I get to bundle them both up and head to the pedi in rush hour traffic on icy roads. And be there by 8. Boo.

  • I don't understand why so many kids are eating the Tide pods. Yes they look yummy, but still taste like soap! How are they getting to them? I don't think the product should be blamed. Laundry supplies should be out of sight and out of reach. I usually buy the Tide pods but this time I bought the SAMs brands. That container is harder to open. Are kids eating dishwasher detergent pods too?
I don't get it either. You don't hear of loads of kids eating Lysol Wipes or  Swiffer Pads so Im not sure how they are getting all these Pods .I personally have my pods above the washing machine where a child couldnt get them.

Ally&Mike24 - AWW so cute You inspired me to take my guy to the park. Ive never had him in a swing of any kind before . HOpe he loves it .

embear- Sorry to hear about root canal , hope it goes as well as can be expected. What color/kind of hair dye did you get ?

Dani - Not sure if you ve left yet but you can do it ! If you want to that is , if you re not comfortable , you turn that plane around lady !

Xxlilies just a light brown... But it had been since getting my BFP I had my first cig in July when I finally drank and omg the next day I felt like shiiiiittttt. And 3 days later I got a sinus infection. Totally not worth it. Can sympathize with the craving though. I still crave them to this day even though I don't like them anymore. It's so weird.
Ooh hopefully it turns out how you want it too :)

Yeah I know I won't like it either . Thats what made me ultimately quit. I hadn't smoked in a couple days and went to have one and it was disgusting and I couldnt finish it . Still sounds like a good idea though. A bad,, good idea lol

  • Whenever people talk about cigarettes I crave them or when I'm stressed because a lot of people use it as a stress relief. I've never had more than a puff of a cigarette though and that was 3 or 4 years ago. It always smells good, I guess that's why I try it and then realize it burns your lungs. I'm a loser.

  • Dani - Definitely won't smoke a cig . Not so much opposed to other things. Well i guess certain other things . I don't smoke crack.

3crazykitties - Ugh my DH smokes too . Keeps saying hes trying to quit but i dunno about that. I wouldnt dare say shit though because I know how horrible it is to quit. He ll quit when hes ready but in the mean time he is not making it easy on me.

  • It's been years since I quit but on the really long nights where I get no sleep - or I have to listen to LO cry as she falls asleep - I often think, I should be sitting on the back step having a smoke....
  • So I only spent an hour in that suit but that was a long time in one of those suits! I don't know to what level the infected nurses were gowned up to but I see many ways they could have been exposed.
  • It's not even that someone did it, there was enough people who did it to cause the manufacturer to put a label on every item. Madness.
  • embear22 said:

Speaking of cautionary labels. My new fridge came with one that said, 'do not put or leave a lit candle in the refrigerator to elimante smells'' I shit you not. That means someone did it. My hair straighner also has a label that says do not use on eye lashes. It makes me giggle everytime so I never remove it.

*boggle* How did people that silly survive to adulthood? Good grief!

  • After finally having DD 6 month appointment today (waiting on insurance stuff because we moved), her new doctor wants her to see a gastrointestinal specialist because she is still very tiny. She is right at 13lbs but meeting all her milestones. She crawled at 5 months, she sits up on her own. She pulls herself to standing. She is very alert. I know this is just a precaution but after the horrible week last week I can't help but worry.
  • @lokimau‌ don't worry too much. I know it's scary to have to take her to a specialist, but it sounds like she's doing phenomenal and is just a small girl. DS doesn't crawl or anything, so you're way ahead of us. I've already had to take DS to a dermatologist and allergist due to allergies and other issues. It's stressful, but at least you'll know if she's just small or if there is an issue. My pedi wasn't worried that DS was only 15 lbs at his 6 month appt (hasn't doubled birth weight), so I'm sure it's nothing! Good luck.

@snowbound‌ my husband won't do decorations until after Thanksgiving. I say do what you want, but I love Christmas.

DD was only 13 lbs 4 oz at her 6 month checkup (a week late.)  She is also not sitting on her own, nor crawling yet.  Her pediatrician is not concerned, neither are we.  She's just a little girl.  I would not worry about your DD.  It sounds like she is doing great!

I've been in 3 different facilities now as a student observing Ebola drills. No way in heck would I gown up the way any of those facilities are recommending. I'd rather lose my job than risk contaminating myself or my family for sub-par garb. Pretty sad that facilities can't (or won't) get the proper PPE. I know there is national shortage on a lot of it but something's gotta give.

Short of a level A suit we had on proper PPE. Above what the CDC is or isn't requiring (depending on what day you call them). Despite it being proper it's very hard to get off, and there are many many steps. Even in a 3 nurse team (primary, secondary , and clipboardman) I made mistakes. I have worked in a trauma center that had actual certified response teams, with full level A suits and SCBAs, and I have my Hazwoper, so I am familiar with the level A. Today's plastic bunny suits tear very easily when you are trying to remove chem tape, and we were practicing with painters tape and they still tore. And at least half of the 9 nurses on my group today tore a glove while removing the PPE. Then there's the problem of the positive air systems. They are wore over the bunny suit. At some point the nurse will probably have to assist the pt to the commode, and the pt will grab the unit or belt, both of which are reused, and are the only non-disposible PPE. And the risk of them grabbing the tube to the filter is there as well. I'm probably over thinking it, but I tend too, I've had PTs attack me so I trust no one anymore. Obliviously its a work in progress, at least they are trying, kaiser RNs are on strike because of lack of proper PPE.
  • If A has another ear infection, I will cry.

Yeah facilities here aren't using bunny suits. Knee high booties, gown, face mask, hair cover and face shield, two pairs of gloves duct taped. So many freaking open areas. Nope nope nope.
Okay so first step: surgical scrubs and long arm gloves over your underwear and booties. 2nd: plastic white bunny suit, hood tucked in. Thick long arm gloves (similar to the ones under the kitchen sink) and sealed with Chem tape. Chemical boots with snaps, also sealed with Chen tape. Portable HEPA positive air filter and hood. 3rd: Blue apron and 3rd set of gloves.

After you have enter Pts room and need to leave: at door place bleach wipe on trash foot peddle, and 1 wipe per hand. Wipe down boots including tape. *It will be assumed from now that each step will now be followed with using a bleach wipe per hand including tape*. Remove blue apron and 3rd pair of gloves rolling up and discard*. clean door handle, open door. R foot into bleach bucket, step onto chux. L foot in bucket, step out onto chux*. Proceed to bagging area*. Step into giant trash bag*. Roll up hood to expose zipper*. In one movement unzip*. roll down suit removing 2nd gloves and booties*. You will now be naked except your bra, undies and 1st glove set. Set out of bag area and into rubber croc shoes*. Bag up trash and dispose in giant red can*. Apply hospital gown*. Apply and sanitizer and wipe down door knob*. Enter room and proceed to shower for minimum of 5min. New set of surical scrubs.
  • Thanks ladies for making me feel better about DD having to see a specialist. She goes next Thursday. At least we got an appointment quickly. :)
  • @tlp2558‌ I find it interesting what you said others are doing. This is a small hospital I'm at now. Less than 100beds. But there is a big risk here with the air base and there are a lot of people here that do missionary work and international visitors to the wine ghetto.
  • Who knew exploding whales was a thing @-)
  • A slept in increments of 60-90 minutes. If she wasn't sleeping, she was fussing. I'm so tired and I want to cry.

  • Aryssa has her first fever/cold and I know it is because of the shots yesterday. She got her 6 month boosters (a little late) and a flu shot. It is got up to 101.8 overnight but is now under 101. She is still playing and being silly so I assume she feels fine. Skipping mommy group today which sucks since it is my only non family adult interaction this week :p
  • My baby will not eat anything besides cheerios. I was blessed was the least picky child ever. I feel like this one may make up for it.
  • Ugh, I feel like anywhere else in the US 200k could get you some place to live! All we can find are terrible condos with ridiculous hoa fees.

We have a great place for you. 160 000 will get you a nice 3 bedroom, big backyard. Just have to put up with a bit (alot) of snow. If memory serves me right you are in California. Might be a bit of a transition.
