We rent so my house is a wreck all the time. I don't even care anymore. This isn't my dream house and we move every few years so stuff is always getting damaged.
Not the final positioning, of course. Waiting for my husband to get home so we can figure out the best spots. What do y'all think about that rug? Is it okay there, or should it go in the living room, or neither? It was something we bought a couple years ago.
Andddd now we just found out that the army is taking out meal deduction next paycheck since J was gone for two months. $498... What in the fuck do they expect us to do?? We can't afford to go without that money.
@snowbound my brother was in the military and it was so hard on me. I can't imagine being a spouse of one in the military. Military wives are strong women!
So sick today. It sucks and I threw up for the first time. DS saw it and even though he's little and doesn't understand I feel bad. I don't want to take time away from him.
DH is going away this weekend to his fishing trip that was canceled last weekend. I feel bad, but I don't want him to go. I know he needs to get out and have time to himself, especially with another baby coming, but I don't get time to myself ever. I selfishly want him to stay, so I can sleep and he can take care of the baby. Ugh. Oh well. I'll eat out the whole time.

That's annoying. Sorry you putting up with that BS. They are notorious for screwing stuff up.
I just are McDonalds for the first time in like, 10 years. Wtf-it was amazing! Those fries are like little bites of heaven.
Did you watch BB on Wednesday? If so, were you excited/surprised about who won??
I didn't watch it yet because no joke, this has been the week from hell. But I know who won and I wasn't surprised at all! Totally expected. I'll watch at some point and discuss anything good, but my fingers are crossed for Zankie on Amazing Race!
And here's my awesome kid to make up for all the IL bitching I'm going to do this weekend...
@edoliesmom - furniture is exciting! When DH and I first moved in together we had almost nothing. I remember we used an empty box with a sheet thrown over it as an end table for the longest time.
@deidremaria - I took a walk around the block today. It was gorgeous out and the trees are turning! I have leaves for you! PM your address and I'll get them to you.
@edoliesmom your apartment looks darling! I love the paint color and chair rail in the dining room! You did a GREAT job picking out the beautiful furniture! Love it all

Having a pre-schooler and a baby, the first thing I thought when I saw that pic was dear god I cannot imagine a rug under the table. One meal of spaghetti and it would be trashed!
Thanks @AprilMay9 I'll see if I can sell it on the local FB page.
@janic9821 Haha I used a shoebox full of odds and ends as a nightstand for a couple years. I still don't have an actual nightstand, but it's an upgrade from a shoebox!
@vinny424 Thaaanks! I like it too. I was able to get it discounted since I paid it in full, and our tv rang up for $40 over the shelf price so I was like um yeah NO. Not paying that much.
@KatieGummow Thank you so much! That's the default color for the apartments, but I like it too.
@jessimax lol I know, but it's carpeted underneath! I'd rather get my rug messy and stained than the carpet and have to pay for it to be replaced when we move out.

@edoliesmom I have a jute rug under my dining room table. They suck to clean so I got an ugly plastic thing to go under her high chair

I've read from others you can just use a plastic table cloth or even a cloth one you can throw in the wash. Oh and I have a dog to help with the mess :-D
Thanks!! I think I'll be ordering one of these when I start her on solids.

@swerbtastic3351 I know you didn't mean it this way at all, but that made me feel materialistic! I mean, I feel like I gave off that vibe. We have just been sitting on the floor to eat every meal and have been banished to our rooms if we want to sit anywhere, and it feels so gloomy sitting in bed all day, or the floor. I'm just happy to have somewhere to sit to enjoy the living room now, and I feel a little bit more like an adult now that we've purchased our first pieces of furniture.
That was us in our first apartment. We would sit on the floor and watch Netflix on the laptop. While eating mac n' chz or ramen noodles. We didn't even have a bed, just an air mattress :-P We moved 6 hrs away and across the border a month after getting married so we figured why buy furniture just to move it. 4 years later we're still in an apartment but now at least we have furniture :-)

Physical is done. Also after the conversation I heard through the paper thin walls, I am super glad Im not at my old job anymore. So many problems, so much drama.

Hahaha yes! We has a coffee table to eat on at least, and that's where we would sit and watch Netflix because who has money for cable? Now we have a smart tv that streams Netflix, YAAAYYY!

So, a close friend of mine had a baby in July. She lives in Canada so I haven't seen her in person since before she had him. But she has posted at least 3 different pics of him in bed with blankets, stuffed animals, etc. Should I say something? And if I should, howb what do I say? I love her but she's pretty clueless so she genuinely might not know better. But don't they tell you all that before you leave the hospital? And at the 1st dr's visit? WWRTTD?

@rtv3, I wouldn't say anything. I feel your pain, though. A friend of mine always posts pics of her baby in the bumbo/bouncy chair/frog chair on top of the kitchen table/counters. I feel that's a major safety hazard. I don't say anything because I'd rather avoid confrontation and I doubt she'd listen to me, a FTM.
@rtv3. I also don't think you should say anything. It can be hard but she may know its not recommended and decide she knows best... My cousin came to visit me when her LO was almost 3 months old - she had him on rice cereal (in his bottle), sleeping on his tummy and with a blanket. It made me nervous as hell but didn't bother her any. I didn't say anything but she volunteered that she knew it wasn't recommended but that's how he slept best and she wasn't messing with it. Her LO is now a year old and doing fine.
I'm so sick of rain. It has rained for close to a week straight. Yesterday, it was pouring when I got home from the grocery store but since Baby Girl was asleep in the car seat, I just sat in my car until it slowed down. And this is supposed to be the Sunshine State.
I'm in California! A was awesome on the plane rides. And now we are staying at my brother's house (where my sister also lives, renting a room from him).
DH gets here in a few days with Indy and my car. But my brother and sister have work and/or school, so we are on our own Monday and Tuesday. So, if there are CA ladies near Sacramento that want to hang out before the GTG, A and I free!
We might be getting sent to Stockton for this contract so maybe we can do a GTG if that happens. My choices are Stockton or Coalinga, where they put the murdering violent inmates.
Soooooo who knows about skunks? Dog got sprayed full on in the face, her eyes are watering and she is drooling/foaming. And while I love my dog the emergency clinic is 2 hours away and I'm alone with 2 small kids so that's not happening. Any advice besides rinsing with water? And FYI, fab way to spend a Friday night X(

Eeegads I'm having all the sads tonight. Just found out that our most recent rescue (not my foster) has a huge mass on his liver that is compressing his other organs. Vets suggested hospice. Damn. You want to save them all, but when you can't, at least we can offer love.
Has anyone heard of this before? My sisters BF just showed to me and I'm intrigued.... https://www.sproutling.com/
Someone linked this to me before and it seemed to me like it was in the early stages of development, not something you could actually buy. I could be totally off, it just seemed too good to be true.
Looks neat, but it isn't available until March '15. Kind of like a FitBit for a baby. It's also pricey. I wonder what their level of false alarms is.
Yeah just noticed it's not our until next year... Maybe for the next baby; the marketing video is excellent though!
Add me to the rough day club. Started off good. It's Johnny Appleseed Day (my mother is a retired second grade teacher. She treats it like a holiday) so we made applesauce. That went well. Then we decide to go get a pedicure. Go out to the garage and my driver's side tire is flat. Like not moving flat. So we call AAA to change it. Donut doesn't fit. They tow it. Takes the kid 45 minutes to get it off the truck at the tire place! And DH is gone for the night too so I'm putting a very over tired kiddo to bed by myself. With ugly feet.
When I told the nurse recruiter I would take this position in Coalinga I thought it was a women's prison. Turns out MIL was super wrong on that Intel. But I'm still actively perusing the position as it seems to be my only hot led and we need an income. Am I crazy? Would you work with violent offers if you needed a job and had no other options?

I'd do it. You seem to have a take no prisoners/kiss my ass attitude, and like pp have said, I'm sure there are some pretty strict protocols in place to protect you.
DH update: no scary causes for chest pain, but no real explanation either. He's doing okay. He took a long nap this afternoon, and we are just hanging at home tonight. Thanks ladies
So I looked it up. Statistically speaking I am so much much safer in a prison. Violence and assukt rates against corrections nurses are so much lower than for ER nurses. Thanks guys
@RedDawnsRevenge, personally, I wouldn't take a job in a prison. As a mom I feel I'd have too much at stake to risk being injured. Shit happens, even with safety procedures in place, and I wouldn't want it to happen to me!
I'd hold out for something better/safer. You haven't been looking for a job for that long, right? And you've already gotten a job offer? I'd keep looking. But I'm also extremely paranoid. :-)
Maybe I missed an update on DH but are you guys working things out? With no income you should be able to apply for TANF (or maybe a TANF diversion payment- a bigger one time payment to keep you off welfare), food stamps, Medicaid, subsidized daycare, etc and get some support while you get yourself established working again.
