  • @RedDawnsRevenge‌, personally, I wouldn't take a job in a prison. As a mom I feel I'd have too much at stake to risk being injured. Shit happens, even with safety procedures in place, and I wouldn't want it to happen to me!

I'd hold out for something better. You haven't been looking for a job for that long, right? And you've already gotten a job offer? I'd keep looking.

Maybe I missed an update on DH but are you guys working things out? With no income you should be able to apply for TANF (or maybe a TANF diversion payment- a bigger one time payment to keep you off welfare), food stamps, Medicaid, subsidized daycare, etc and get some support while you get yourself established working again.

TANF? I have no idea what that is. DH has barrowed so much money from MIL. She owns my soul at this point. I'm angry, so very angry. Once I get a job situated I'm taking the girls and leaving. This whole not applying for jobs because he doesn't like them is just beyond enraging. But in the mean time I'm planning. It's so hard when you have nothing and you're the only person willing to do anything. I am such a bitter wife now.

As for the medi-Cal. I applied in April. Got an approve letter this last week. Made an apt at the medi-cal county clinic. NO medi-cal and they can't see the girls. Tgen this week I got an enrollment book, but Meadow isn't in the book. So I call Medical and after much wasted time on hold the man tells me Mo has been denied "for reasons I cannot divulge to you" WTF does that mean? So he tells me I have to call the county worker now. Finally get ahold of her, and I'm in tears, sobbing to the medical lady. They tell me it is now resolved and we should get a new enrollment book next month.
  • @RedDawnsRevenge‌ if you take the job, don't Google the prisoners. You don't want to know what they did to get in there, it might freak you out.

@RedDawnsRevenge‌ Is there not a huge nursing shortage there? As a nurse I have never actually had an interview. Here, my "interview" consists of 30 minutes of the human resource person trying to convince me why I must work for their establishment, then 2 or 3 questions to make sure I haven't gotten brain damage since graduating nursing school and I'm in. With your experience you could walk in anywhere and have any job you wanted in 8 seconds.

ETA long story short. Move here. I'll take you in.

No in Ca it's a fake shortage. The amount of certifications they want is nuts. And after talking to recruiters since I've been off so long it's like being a new grad. No one wants me. So many rejection letters in my email. This corrections thing is the only hit I've got other than the insurance assessor interview. And the prison even wants corrections experienced nurses. There is also a huge bias there against EDRNs, as we order our own labs, meds, scans without and MD order which makes us scary to other nurses for whatever reason. And we are mean. where are you at?

@Ashleypixie‌ t&p for your pup. That is so hard :(

So I looked it up. Statistically speaking I am so much much safer in a prison. Violence and assukt rates against corrections nurses are so much lower than for ER nurses. Thanks guys

Makes sense to me. For one, they're much more sober ha. I'm sure you'll see some detoxing with new inmates though.

I've had long term inmates pop positive for so many things when they are brought into the ER. And toilet hooch is too easy to make.

A was awesome on the plane rides. And now we are staying at my brother's house (where my sister also lives, renting a room from him).

DH gets here in a few days with Indy and my car. But my brother and sister have work and/or school, so we are on our own Monday and Tuesday. So, if there are CA ladies near Sacramento that want to hang out before the GTG, A and I free!

I'm near Sac! Hit me up, I should be out of IL hell by then...

Homemade apple sauce sounds so good on this foggy fall morning. @RedDawnsRevenge‌ all I can think of with the talk about working in the prison is the relationship Between the Dr. and Michael Scoefield in Prison Break (so hot). I can imagine this is a hard decision and I'm glad we are all able to support you since the situation at home is less than desirable. @KendraColeslaw‌ we were doing the same thing. My baby girl looks like such a big kid now. Maybe this time next year I'll give another one some thought. I want to ask questions in the question thread, but I don't even know where to start! How would all you fashionistas style a baby sweater like this? I want some kind of pants, boots, and hair thing/hat/headband for Blaire's 6 month photos ETA: sorry bout the iPad formatting
  • @RedDawnsRevenge‌ when I worked in the hospital and as an emt, I often went to where the prisoners were held or the jails themselves. You will be fine. There are so many security measures that have to be taken and many of the inmates know that if they fuck up then they will be there longer. I hope you get the job for your sake. You've been through so much. Hugs.

I'm near Montreal, so I realize this information is completely impractical, just blows my mind to see a nurse struggling to find work. Here as long as you have a license, regardless of experience or schooling, you will land a job.
  • I seriously woke up on the wrong side of the bed or something... I'm mad this morning when I usually let things slide.

    1) I'm broke
    2) I'm out of bm storage bags
    3) my bottles are all full so I only have the two to pump into.
    4) since I'm broke I can't remedy the problem
    5) DH dumped grease from the pan on my pumping flanges and stuff. So I had to scrub the crap out of them and still think they are dirty but didnt have time to sterilize...
    6) I showed up at work at 7:30am to pump but I don't have a key and neither does the new girl. So new girl, myself and a client who us always early because she has to work waited for 30 minutes for the person with a key to let is in!!!! ( she's always like this and I dread Saturdays with her...)
    7) so we made the client wait and I clocked in late!
    8) and I have nowhere to keep my milk so I'm about to pump and dump... And I have extra but its still depressing.

Thank you for the time to vent...

What a poopy morning, Nicole . That sounds like a crap way to start the day!

Edit; because the app is not awesome at tagging people. What is this quotation mark bs?
  • I had a dream that  I lost 50oz of frozen breast milk last night. Stuff of nightmares!

Hoping to convince DH to go out the the farmers market today. Its finally getting tolerable to be outside and I want to take advantage of it.

  • Nicole, that stinks. First of all, virtual TP to hubby. Second, I'm sure it's not recommended but I would sterilize containers or something to put the milk in. Or in a pinch I'd use ziploc bags or something before I would dump it. But then I don't produce much so I'm overly protective of what I do pump.

I feel your pain. *comfort* DH has Game of Thrones coming through Netflix rentals and is all excited because season 2 starts on the next disc. He'll be watching it alone. We bought the first 5 books of ASoIaF in 3rd tri and for once he's ahead of me in a series because I never get to read! :((

All of Daniel's clothes that are the right size are the wrong season. I think my family isn trying to tell me to move 5 on the southern hemisphere. @avidkeo‌ do you need a new neighbor? I feel like I am spending a mini fortune on clothes.

Oh come! You'd love it! Was about to say to @RedDawnsRevenge‌ we need a good ED nurse!

  • @Jessimax‌ that just blows me away. For every job I've had I've had second interviews. Some jobs I've had a 3rd interview. It's highly competitive here. And once you get the position they give you a career flow sheet outlining when you'll have more things (TNCC, MICN, CCRN, CEN, etc) if you don't already have them.

@avidkeo‌ sign me up! I'd kill to go to hobbit land. I Wish they'd take an American traveler.
  • Ohh A14 Facebook friends?
  • OMG what is happening?!?!
