Those whose LOs have had their 4mo jabs - how long were they miserable for? A got hers this morning, trying to get an idea what to prepare for. She slept like a rock after her 2mo ones, but it's seeming like that's not going to be the case here. @-)

@poru the first day my mom watched OG she spilled a bottle, I was so stressed about being short I freaked on her. Now she makes me make up all the bottles before I leave so if there is a spill it's my fault!
@SoulTermination we got our shots today too! She's been spitting up more than she did last time but otherwise ok.
@soultermination W got her shots last week and it was weird. She crashed hard after the 2 month ones and then woke up after 6 hours like a crazy person. Tylenol and she was back to normal before bedtime.
This time, she did not sleep, was completely normal for 2 days and then randomly spiked a 101 fever and was clingy and fussy, but not wild. As soon as I administered Tylenol, the fever came down and she was totally normal. I have no idea what 6 months will bring.
For those who are pumping at work (and struggling to meet LO's demand) - I just read that listening to guided relaxation or soothing music while pumping can really increase pumping output. I hadn't heard that before. Will be trying that at my next pumping session... Which will commence as soon as the lactation room is vacated. Gah, I hate sharing that room. :-w
Will have to try this. Our lactation room has multiple chairs with curtains and on Monday someone microwaved their FISH in the microwave that is there for sterilzation. I wanted to die. :-&
I'd leave an angry note. "This microwave is for sterilization of pumping materials, NOT your lunch! Don't make me find you."

Ugh. DD has a fever again. For about the last 8 months, she's been averaging one every 5 weeks, lasting a few days. No other symptoms. The pedi brought up Periodic Fever Syndrome during her 3 year well child check, and we agreed to bring her in this time for blood work.
Turns out, she has some blood in her urine but no other symptoms of a UTI. They're waiting for the culture to...culture and we should know by Friday if it's a UTI or not. So in the meantime, we just treat with Tylenol and Advil. If it's not a UTI, she gets a full blood work up, meaning I get to hold my poor toddler down while they poke her, :-(
So Friday could be a remarkably shitty day. Ds has his 4 month appt and shots and then she could end up having blood taken too. Bah. And it's our busiest time of year at work since school is starting. Can I get a pause button?!?

I'm a babywearer through and through, but I snagged a BOB stroller in almost new condition for $200 today! Guess I don't have any more excuses to not work out. A just had his first (mini) stroller ride! He'd never been in one until today.

Just opened some ice cream because LO was taking a nap. She woke up one bite in. THIS IS TIME SENSITIVE FOOD, KID. So sad putting ice cream back in the freezer when I only got a small bite.
eta: and yes, ice cream for dinner.
Did you have some cake to go with that ice cream? She may have just been saving you from a serious lapse in judgment.

DH is going to end up on my list if he doesn't watch that mouth. I asked him to pick up ice cream on his way home and he said no that I didn't need it. Then he said that I shouldn't "sit and play on my phone" after LO falls asleep because he is hungry and I should heat up dinner. I told him to bring ice cream home or don't come home. I realize this sounds awful but it was all in a (mostly) joking way.
Today was the longest day ever! I did have some time to plan a project that I want to do. I am going to make a visualization board! Have any of you done one?

I've made several visualization boards over the years, but haven't done one recently. I've always found them really helpful at keeping me focused on my goals, both personally and professionally. What did you want to focus on?
Ugh. Got sucked into a debate with childless friends on wether it's ok to change your child on an empty table in a restaurant if the bathroom has no changing table.

Time to de friend some people!
If it's a pee diaper there is no debate.
Apparently any diapers are disgusting and I should change her on the floor in the bathroom. Because they "have rights" but my kid doesn't. And the one kid changes his nephews on the floor so I should too....
Night 1 of sleep sack instead of swaddle. I am afraid :-S Laid her down drowzy at her normal bedtime after the usual routine and she was wide awake crying within 10 min. She's almost back to sleepiness so I'm gonna try once more. If that doesn't work, I'm swaddling. Ain't nobody got time for this!

Yeah, I wouldn't change a diaper on a restaurant table. People eat on that, and it's not other customers' fault the restaurant doesn't have a changing table. If you are really that upset by their not having a changing table, ask to talk to the manager and/or contact corporate if it's a chain.
I have changed my kids in some nasty places without changing tables. Not ideal, but we all survive.

i wouldn't change a diaper on a restaurant table regardless of what was inside it. i'd change it on the bench seat or put baby on my lap. if there truly was nowhere else to do it, i might consider it if i laid a blanket out over the table. i'm generally very "i do what i want" about being a parent in public, but changing on a table just seems rude to me.
at our GTG a few weeks ago, i changed T on the floor of cheesecake factory in a corner next to our table
bathroom floor? NO. not even a question. ew. i can't believe someone would even suggest that.
Checking into a mental health facility. Losing myself in PPA and PPD. May or may not be back before vacay...will probably lurk. Love you all but I can't handle my shit anymore and am a bad mom.
Poppy you are NOT a bad mom. You are a fantastic mom with the guts to do what's best for your daughter and yourself. Please stop beating yourself up. I'm aching for you right now, and sending creepy internet hugs. Please give us an update when you're up to it.
It would probably be cleaner to take LO outside and change her in the grass.
I've done this, actually. XD Granted, I laid her out on a big receiving blanket and not straight on the grass, but she liked feeling the grass with her hands and was fascinated by the leaves fluttering in the tree overhead!

@PoppySeedWindsor you aren't a bad mom. You are doing everything you can to take care of both of you. You are a wonderful mother. Take care of yourself. You will be in my thoughts.

You are NOT a bad mom, love. *huggle* There's only so much a person can take, and I think you're doing a good thing by getting some help before you do something drastic and irreversible! We'll be here when you get back, just take care of YOU for once. We love you, Poppy!

@PoppySeedWindsor - glad you're doing what you need to do to feel better. It takes a lot of strength to seek help and you're a great mom for doing that. Looking forward to seeing you back here as soon as you're ready.
Oh man @poppyseedwindsor, I'm so sorry that you're going through this but I'm so glad that you're seeking help. It's a really scary thing, and I hope that you come through this storm healthier and happier than ever. We're here for you, if you need us.
So tell me I'm being ridiculous here: 4 month shots today, no fever but excessive fussing, clearly uncomfortable.
Tylenol or no? Dr said to give it to her if she was extra fussy.
Do the Tylenol -- her little legs probably hurt; that's a legit reason to medicate!
