Re: Longest Thread EVER! (aka Random Thoughts Thread )

  • I feel so shitty right now. I messaged a FB friend that her daughter was buckled into her seat wrong. Her legs were over the straps instead of under. I told her I really hoped I didn't offend her and that I just wanted everyone to be safe. She just replied that the nurse did it but didn't really say anything else. Now I feel all funky because I think she is mad. I really think it was important that she knew though!
How do the legs go over the straps??

After practicing on scraps and baby clothes, I tried my hand at mom clothes. Boom! Cowl neck t-shirt, breastfeeding friendly and stylish. Yep, I made that.
Love! how can I get one?

  • Ugggh, I woke up with a cold this morning. in AUGUST. WTF.  Just waiting for LO to catch it. I'm going to go buy all the things now - vaporizer, saline, snot sucker  - and hopefully i'll be out so much money she won't even end up catching it!
That is probably the best defense against colds I have ever heard of.

  • @mamrotu73 Did you have a pattern you used for the baby tux? Or a tutorial? I need to make one of those for DS.

    yup!

I have somewhere a pattern for a Victorian shift, which is worn under a corset. Let me see if I can dig it up.

@mamrotu73‌ love the shirt! I have -5,000 sewing skills. :-/

This bump mobile app is making me stabby!! Used to be able to tap the top of the screen to scroll all the way up, and now it has stopped. Anytime I click on a link or picture, when I hit "back" it then decides to kick me to the top of the screen. Same with opening new threads. Somehow I got jumped forward in RTT so I have to search to find where I last left off if my app gets closed out...unless by some miracle I remember what page I was on.

    FIRST WORLD PROBLEMSSSSS.

On a happier note, I figured out that it was my popcorn consumption making my child have explosive, clothing-soaking craps. I'm embarrassed to admit it took me three days to figure it out. I'm dumb. =D>
  • @ImnAtari‌ sorry I can't find it. I must have given it to my mom when I finished making it.
  • Aaaahh....so much rad sewing stuff!  We had a crafty thread at one time, no?

I made LO a dress but this crappy ass message board won't let me post photos.

  • Wonderful day spent doing my clients hair at her house. First there was a veterinary emergency, some yelling at the sister by husband, then three people locked in a bedroom crying, more yelling, then a bunch of akwardness while we all pretended none of that happened. Then I go home and see that DH cleaned absolutely nothing and did no laundry and blamed it on a fussy baby. Sucks, but i kinda smile inside when she gives him a hard time and it makes him realize that i do this all way better than him.

@avidkeo‌ The easy way is to order the shirt I used as my pattern (cowl neck casual t-shirt from PattyBoutik off amazon). Of you want a custom one, PM me and I'll set you up in my overpriced etsy store. Probably a lot cheaper to find a seamstress or sewing inclined friend in NZ though to avoid tons of shipping costs.
If I wasn't so lazy I'd dust off my own sewing machine! it looks gorgeous!

  • Skipping some posts because I'm too lazy. Hi RTT :-h

It was a bad day in this household. DH and I had a knock down drag out fight because I asked for help and time out. Apparently it's selfish to need time off? Also, he said I need to go on asked diet and stop eating ice cream! He is in the dog house for sure.

@cnbean‌ Here is the vest tutorial: https://bisforboycreations.blogspot.com/2011/04/little-gentlemans-faux-vest-onesie.html?m=1 This the tutorial I followed for the bow tie, but I made mine snap on to the onesie: https://slowmama.com/arts-crafts/diy-baby-bowties/ For the pants, I used a pair he already fits in and drafted a pattern onto freezer paper. @avidkeo‌ The easy way is to order the shirt I used as my pattern (cowl neck casual t-shirt from PattyBoutik off amazon). Now I am sad that we donated all of DH's suits that no longer fit!

  • Good to know, Piney. Thanks!

    @ambarnett1 BOOOOOOO!

We *kinda* made it to the Reds game today, for like 3 whole innings. I had her in the ergo and sweated my balls off. Poor bug. Can you imagine anything worse than drinking hot milk from a hot sweaty boob on a hella hot day?

No wonder she puked it up 15 minutes later. The total cry fest that ensued DID get us all a two hour nap though.

    And she's already in bed.

    WOOOOOOT.
    GO REDS!!

I second this. Specifically number 17. Yayyy Kris.
  • DD1 is really enjoying shark week. She keeps saying "Sharky". For 2 of the last 3 years there has been a fatal great white shark attack at my home towns beach. There wasn't one this year because the beach is closed.
  • I haven't had a drink in probably about 4 years. RTT is really making me reconsider this idea. There is a local restaurant that does a 5k every Monday and if you do it, they give you a free beer or daiquiri afterwards. If the weather is nice, I might do it tomorrow.
  • So, so good.... second time around!!!

  • @Tferr02‌ Soma makes nursing bras?!?! And they have them at the outlet store? Do you like them? We have an outlet store here too.
  • @Emily041285‌ yes! I love them! It was 2 for $59 plus a 15% discount right now. I paid $53 for 2 great bras. They actually support me. Where do you live with a soma outlet? I'm so amazed that I'm finding these. 5 years ago I worked at the only Soma Outlet and it was in Ft Myers, FL. At the time, no one knew what I was talking about when I said Soma, and now they are everywhere.
  • @Tferr02‌ I live in okc. There's an outlet and actually they are opening an actual store here soon too. I never even thought to check there for nursing bras. Now I'm going to have to on my lunch break!

They are opening a brand new outlet mall like 10 minutes from my house on Thursday!!  I am so tempted to go but I don't know if I can handle the hordes of cars/people that will be there when it opens.

Four years is an awfully long time.. Do the 5k, but skip the beer. You'll feel like superwoman instead of wanting to throw up after. :)

The part that is normal laying over the baby's thigh/lap and then buckled at the crotch strap was under her legs. So she was sitting on the straps. My friend did message me that that was the way the charge nurse put her in the seat for her car seat test and to go home. She wasn't mad at me and had actually gotten out the manual to look at it. I told her someone needs to notify this nurse that she is sending babies home the wrong way.

Way to go! I'm so glad you said something. I cannot believe the nurse did that! X_X
  • I have a bug bite or something on my leg. It's so itchy!!! 8-X

I think my kid is adorbs and he's a super chill baby, but he was trying my patience today after H was out of town since Weds. I am actually excited for work tomorrow.
DH has had a few out of town work trips in the last month and I agree that it gets tough being "on duty" 24/7.  When does YH come back?

It really annoys me that the title and description are one episode off for Say Yes to the Dress on Netflix...
