  • We have absolutely no way to make any type of dessert in my house right now. Waaaaaaah.

Not even sugar cookies? Butter, sugar, flour, vanilla, baking soda? Nothing?
  • Oh man we've had a rough day. I'm not sure what's going on with W, but she's had recurring freakouts where she's inconsolable and won't nurse all day. Pedi seems unconcerned unless there's a fever or rash. I have an appointment on Monday anyway. Gas, constipation, teething idk.

I should be counting my lucky stars that she's usually such an easy baby- this is really the first time in 4 months that I've felt like "oh shit what the hell do I do!?!?". She won't nurse, and will only take a pumped bottle so I'm in the bedroom pumping while DH feeds her. Having a glass of wine and a good cry. I don't know why, but I feel rejected somehow- like I'm no longer enough for her. Dramatic, I know, but my heart is hurting a little.

Our babies are so small yet they can make us feel rejected at times for sure! I've been there. DS has had episodes of screaming when I tried to nurse him and it's so stressful. Looking back, I think he was usually overtired. Since he is a paci lover I would put him on the boppy and give him his paci. I would have my boob sitting right by his mouth and when he calmed down I would pull the paci and offer the boob. It usually worked. Sometimes I had to reset his buttons by changing his surroundings and trying again 10-15 min later. Try not to worry and just keep trying. She'll come around!

  • Thanks guys. That's all really good advice. It's so hard when you feel like you can't do anything to help. She finally nursed right before going to sleep, which was nice. I'm crossing my fingers, eyes, toes, etc. that it was a fluke. BCIH (big creepy internet hugs) to you all!!!
  • DS got super fussy at dinner time and I stuck him in his P&P so I could eat. Not a peep out of him, and he fell asleep. That was 2 hours ago. Hoping he sleeps for several more hours instead of waking up in the motn ready to party.

  • Question: for those of you taking birth control pill (not the mini), when did you see a reduction in your milk supply? Or did you? I am taking loestrin lo and just curious when I would see that happen (it's been 5 days).

  • At Harley's 2 month appointment, she was in the 50th percentile for both height and weight. Today at her 4 month appointment, she was in the 75th for height and the 15th for weight. I'm worried that she only gained 2 pounds in 2 months.

Her doctor isn't concerned, so I know I shouldn't be, but I can't help it. So, in two weeks or a month I'm going to see if they will let me come for a weight check. I'm also debating calling my lactation consultant to do a weighted feed.

She was back up to birth weight at two weeks and 4 pounds heavier at 2 months. So this is a drastic slowing.

On th flip side, she was 18 inches when born, 22 inches at 2 months and 25 inches now. Can a drastic height change make it harder for her to gain weight?

That was a really long vent.
  • I miss my baby! I'm spending my first night away from him. I went to the ER for my abdominal pain and I've been admitted. I'm so sad. I'm also not cool with pumping and dumping and I miss my DH. :(
  • Let me add.... Does anyone know if I have to pump and dump since I had a CT scan and was injected with iodine?

Well tonight we are going no swaddle. Shes been sleeping for weeks with one arm out, and DH has had her napping during the day without the swaddle. Time to try it at night.
W ditched the swaddle 2 nights ago with no issues.  Good luck!

You should be fine, contrast is excreted via the kidneys very quickly. If you aren't 100% comfortable dump the first lot but you should be all good after that.

ETA its not absorbed orally so even if a small amount got to your milk, it would pass straight through baby. This is assuming they used omnipaque which is the most common contrasy.

    I hope you are ok!

Way late but @MissHSoonToBeMrsS‌ we did U below the feet but under the butt might be really helpful---less movement around the crib!

    Hope everything is going okay!!

Thank you! He was sleeping by 7 tonight so between 7-8 was rough. We were in there constantly. But then he slept until 4! Definitely a success. His crib is slightly elevated so he ended up about halfway down the crib.

  • @allyandmike24‌ Ev has started to do the same thing and it's so frustrating. For us, mornings and nights are totally fine but the first day session on weekends she's usually a mess. She gets bottles during the week while I work and while we use a really slow flow nipple I think she just gets mad that she has to work harder. I usually offer a few times and if she really gets worked up DH will take her and give her a pacifier. When she calms down I try again.

She's started being fussy with the bottle too and has a definite tooth bump so it could be that too. Either way big creepy internet hugs (or not since we've actually met!). I hope today is better for you/her.
  • Thanks everyone! I have some kind of air bubble near my liver. Don't know how that happened since the body is a closed circuit. I am now waiting to talk to the surgeons.

What a rough couple of days. My brothers best friend died suddenly Sun night. I have known him most of my life. He was an electrian and was electrocuted helping a friend out with a new vacation home they purchased. He was 42 yrs old and set to be married Oct 4th. Instead of having her wedding at this restaurant, she threw a funeral luncheon. My brothers buddies have known eachother since childhood and are a really tight knit group. So hard seeing a bunch of tough guys cry. They did a really nice job celebrating his life. It's just so not fair for such a great guy to go out like that. Just so sad. Way too soon :-(

  • @honeyzoo WTAF? Does she not know you just had a LO?

@Poppyseedwindsor NO dessert here either. I had to break out the emergency bag of chocolate chips to eat by the handful

Our Joann's and MIchael's are equally sucky, as is our Macy's, Kohls and Target. I can't wait until I live in a bigger city again because I love shopping. Luckily, internet shopping is just as fun.

B is going to be naked after she grows out of these 3-6 month clothes. I need to start looking for some larger sized winter clothes. ANy recommendations for solid color onesies and leggings?
  • Awesome morning. DH forgot it was our anniversary and woke me up ready to fight, basically telling me what a terrible person I am and how inconvenient it is to stick around and watch the baby every morning while I take advantage of my ONLY opportunity to take a shower. Once he realized what day it was he just defended himself and yelled at me even more instead of addressing my hurt feelings. Day ruined and I still haven't showered. I win the award for the worst husband ever.

  • So sorry, @Ashleypixie‌. Happy anniversary to you, huh? Hopefully your Dh will shape up!

LO slept better than he has been, so I think we're all a bit happier today. I have been feeling queasy the past couple days. Not sure what that's about- definitely not pregnant. :) heading to target in a bit to buy a crib- DH has been refusing to put together our old one because he hates it, so a new one it is!

So...maybe you guys can tell me if I'm being unreasonable.

My twin sister's husband was wait listed for med school. They thought that it was a no go because they went months without hearing anything and school was starting soon. Well, two weeks ago they found out he got in! So they are doing a last minute move from western WI to PA. My BIL is already out there since classes start Monday and my sister is joining him on Monday. A friend is throwing her a goodbye party Saturday night.

We can't go because we have to go to Iowa this weekend for a belated baby shower for DS. DH's extended family all live there (his parents, sister, and us all live in MN.) it's a 3.5 hour drive or so down there. Because we are in Iowa we won't be able to see her off which makes me sad because my twin sister and I are very close. I feel bad wanting to reschedule the baby shower in Iowa because it's been planned for awhile and DH's aunts and uncles haven't met DS yet, where as my extended family sees him often because we get together more often and live a tad bit closer together. I want to be "fair", it's just that the timing sucks.

Because I felt bad rescheduling, I suggested to DH that we go down to Iowa for the day but don't stay the night like we planned and drive back late Saturday (baby shower is at 4pm) so that even though I can't make the goodbye party, we can go see her on Sunday before she leaves Monday. DH didn't really say anything. Then last night I heard him talking to MIL on the phone and he told her we would ride with them to Iowa instead of driving separately (which means we have to spend the night because that's what their plans are.) I was a little hurt that he completely disregarded my suggestion to leave early so I could see my sister before she leaves. I know it won't be forever and we will probably see her at Christmas, but this all happened so fast I just feel bad not being able to say goodbye. I know we hardly ever see his family, but I thought that driving home late would be a fair compromise.

He's not normally a jerk which is why I'm sitting here wondering if I'm just being unreasonable again. The thing is, if the roles were reversed and we found out his sister or his best friend had to do a sudden move, I can't imagine suggesting we still go forth with our original plans. That's why I'm a little bit upset. I did bring it up to him and he just said, "you should have told them to have the party a different day." Well, I'm not the one throwing it DH, I cant just dictate that. Besides, there wasn't a whole lot of notice so it's not like they could hem and haw over a date...

Sorry for the novel. I'm just curious if other people would be upset or if I have been spending too much time alone/thinking that this is a bigger deal to me than it should be lol.

Merri was 90% for both at birth and at her two months she was over 100% for length (seriously, she was 26 inches long) and only 50% for weight. She's JUST now starting to chunk up again. No worries mama! Babies grow in all sorts of wonky ways.
