Re: Longest Thread EVER! (aka Random Thoughts Thread )

  • I'm sad that I can't be in on the Big Latch On. I would totally be into it if I was still BF.

    They need volunteers!!

  • We are thinking of transitioning from the RnP to the crib tonight! Haaaaalp! I'm expecting the worst. Any input on other moms who have tried?

Thanks for the response @mom2boxers.  I do think he is getting hot, because I often find him a sweaty mess when we get to our destination despite blasting the AC.  I think he just works himself up so much that he sweats profusely!

That's a good call on making the switch to a convertible carseat, we might just have to try that.  We will have to switch eventually anyways, so what do we have to lose?
We have a convertible car seat in the 2nd vehicle and have been using it a month. LO gets hot in it (same with the infant one), but we did get an 'onyx' one so should have known better. We don't live in a hot place so I didn't think it was a big deal, but was wrong. Also, the convertible straps make her chest hotter because they cover the entire area. They are the Hugs Britax straps and may be bigger then others. She doesn't like being strapped in and fusses and gets hot, but luckily no matter the seat once we get moving she goes quiet, then to sleep.

  • I have mixed feelings on the latch on event. I've only known about it for a whole 20 minutes, so I don't have a fully-formed opinion yet. So far though, I kind of feel about it the same way I do gay pride parades. If you're gay, cool, but I don't completely understand why there needs to be a parade about it. If you're breastfeeding, awesome, but I don't understand why there needs to be an event about it. Getting society to accept something as the norm by having a huge thing about it that's in everyone's faces seems like it would have the opposite affect of what you're trying to achieve. Seems like it would create a bigger barrier than break it down. I would think just doing it as an every day part of life with your head held high would make a bigger difference.

  • The big latch on also is apparently an attempt to set a world record for most organized BFing women or something. Meh.

@MissHSoonToBeMrsS‌ we transitioned to the crib almost 3 weeks ago and it was rough. But it's so much better now! We ended up putting a U of blankets under the crib sheet around DD so she couldn't roll and scoot around the crib. That was our major issue--moving a lot then running into the sides. FX your transition goes smoothly!

@lia619‌ did you put the U around LO's head or lower body? My LO rubs his face against the monkey in his RNP to soothe. I start school in 10 days do I figure this would be the best time! How long did it take to get better? I want to try it through the weekend. If he doesn't get it by then, we'll just assume he's not ready.

Around her legs so it wasn't by her face. It took 3 nights for her to sleep longer than 2 hours at a time and about a week and a half for her to do her normal once a night wake up (usually around 3). We ended up giving her a pacifier to help her self soothe a bit because she was used to rubbing her face on the sides of the RnP too. Good luck! ETA: we started over a weekend too and we abandoned ship because it was awful! We waited until the next weekend and started again with the U. I (because I'm so mean according to DH) made us stay the course the second time because I knew we had to do it eventually.

My husband is totally dragging his feet. It's hard to change something that is working so well!

  • He naps in his crib now so we have that going for us! We typically get a 45-minute nap before he realizes his pacifier isn't in. Thank you ladies for the advice and the confidence-boosters!

  • Hubster just told me he's not comfortable with me going on meds. BAH!!!! I seriously can't have anything right here. Luckily (hopefully!) my doctor is going to call him to speak with him today. At the very least we have an appointment with my doctor next Wednesday to get on the same page.

Seriously dude. Would you rather me be all up and down and on polar extremes or have me be a bit more mellow and not so fucking crazy and depressed and crying and angry all the time?

    Uuuuuuuuuuuugh. Face palm.

  • @lia619‌ stuuuuuupid question, but with the U, did you put it low around their feet or more under their butt with legs over it?

  • Wtf poppy! Isn't your husband on meds for anxiety? I'd think he would understand how helpful they are.

What is your hubby's reasoning?? Also have you ever been on meds? I ask cause it can be a pretty intense adjustment period.

Ahhh pumping and bumping... and its Friday!!! wooo hooo! Morning everyone from the future!

    Kiwi humor hmm?
  • @PoppySeedWindsor‌ I relate to so much of what you post (creepy internet stalkerish, I know). I thought I was getting better but I kept having these huge meltdowns, kept second guessing my choice to have a kid, thought about leaving everything and not looking back, etc. So, I talked to my doctor and she said that, while those thoughts are normal, the fact that they weren't going away was of concern. So, I've been taking Zoloft for about a month and feel so much more level headed. I'm still bfing, I don't seem to have any side effects, and I'm overall happier. I will probably wean off them when LO is around 9-12 months.

You need to take care of you. There's no shame in taking medicine and I hope your husband comes around so you can get some help. Hugs! >:D<
  • Oh ok. I can see how he would be nervous, especially having seen someone I love go through some terrible reactions to SSRI's but if you have been on meds before and know it's what works, he needs to stand beside you and support your decision. I agree with trying to live natural and med free but if meds help that is more important. It took me 9 months to wean off medication before getting preg and I still struggle and occasionally contemplate going back on. Seeing a therapist has been helpful for me. Good luck ---I hope he comes around and realizes this isn't something you're taking lightly!

Oh my goooodness!! Can't wait til Edolie starts giggling like that. How old is he now??
3.5 months (15w). He started with half a giggle a few days ago and now he can go on for as long as I can make fart noises.
Edolie wll be 15 weeks on Monday, so hopefully she's not too far away from giggles! :)

  • So I took you guys advice and I turned the thermostat up to 78. I am dying here.
  • We have one Joann's...and it's shitty.

  • We have the worst Joanns ever in our town... I get so angry whenever I go in. It's dirty and disorganized, and every employee is an asshole.
  • Our Joann's is nice. The employees are clueless, you can tell they only work there for the pay check. They know nothing about crafting. Our michaels is ghetto. Also hobby lobby should change it's name to knick-knack central.

  • Oh man we've had a rough day. I'm not sure what's going on with W, but she's had recurring freakouts where she's inconsolable and won't nurse all day. Pedi seems unconcerned unless there's a fever or rash. I have an appointment on Monday anyway. Gas, constipation, teething idk.

I should be counting my lucky stars that she's usually such an easy baby- this is really the first time in 4 months that I've felt like "oh shit what the hell do I do!?!?". She won't nurse, and will only take a pumped bottle so I'm in the bedroom pumping while DH feeds her. Having a glass of wine and a good cry. I don't know why, but I feel rejected somehow- like I'm no longer enough for her. Dramatic, I know, but my heart is hurting a little.

  • Tell him to get off his lazy butt and mail it then lol
