MOTN FEEDINGS Weekender Edition

Re: MOTN FEEDINGS Weekender Edition

  • How do I get my kid to sleep longer than 3 hours? He's clock work, every three hours he has to eat. We've tried tiring him out in the bath (which works, he falls asleep almost immediately after the bath for a couple hours), not doing bath time, rocking and not. I think I am going to put him down in his room to see if the mattress is more comfy. I'm so tired. By the time I get everything done, I'm up for an hour and only get two hours of sleep. Ugh, my head is pounding.

The first night we put DD in her crib, she slept 5 hours straight after being an every 3 hour eater before. She has slept at least 4 hours straight every night since then. Try it!

  • I've been struggling at night because LO only sleeps 1.5 - 2 hours. Her fussiness and gas have been horrible. Gripe Water is my best friend. How often do you use it? I feel like I'm becoming too dependent on the Gripe Water.

  • R has woken up every hour on the hour since midnight for two days now. He is gassy and pooping green. I think the pasteurized milk I have been drinking on vacation is not working for him. I'm so tired my eyeballs hurt ...

The LC told me to be on the lookout for green poop when I was concerned that my DD wasn't eating enough (only nurses for 5 or 6 minutes). She said that green poop often indicates that LO is only getting foremilk and not enough hind milk. She said if this happens then I should nurse on the same side for two feedings in a row rather than switching after each feeding. Hope this helps :)

I put LO in bed with us last night because I'm desperate for sleep. He slept in his bassinet until midnight, then he slept with us from 12-4 and then slept from 4:30-8:30, and then 8:30-10:30. If felt SO good but I know that I'm creating a monster.... :/

6 weeks 4 days and this growth spurt cluster feeding is killing me. Am I alone in this?

I feel like your baby is the cluster feeding champion. Hope you get out of this growth spurt soon!
3 week growth spurt happened at 4, followed by a wonder week straight into the 6 week growth spurt. My nips need a rest! My baby is still tiny to most people too!

Spent the last 4 hours trying to get LO to sleep! Ughhh she sleeps so well and is so easy to put to sleep all day then once night hits she starts falling asleep at the bottle but once I try putting her down she wakes back up again. This has gone on all night. My right arm is dead from her big ol heavy head!

Ughh after two nights with a six hour stretch and one night with a 5, we are back down to 4.

Us too. We had three night in a row with a 6 or 7 hour stretch. Now we are lucky if we get three with her in her bed.

Also in this boat!  We had a full week of 6-7 hour stretches, now he's back to waking every 3.  I was so hopeful we were getting close to STTN.

Ugh this scares me! We are at a week of good sleep, I don't want it to end!

I cannot get my LO to sleep in her bed! Or my bed for that matter.. She loves the bassinet that came with her pack n play and refuses to sleep anywhere but in that or her swing. I feel like I am bed training her! Will she grow out of it and want to sleep in her bed eventually? I have tried everything to get her to sleep in it and she lasts maybe 30min and then is crying to be put back to sleep. I put her in her bassinet and she can sleep 4 hours no problem!

She is also on the 7-8 hour sleep train at night.. I guess I know now not to get used to it lol.

@SaraJoy00‌ at this point I'm letting LO sleep where she will sleep. She stopped wanting to sleep in the small crib next to my bed so we got the rnp and she sleeps great. I will try putting her in her crib soon to see how that goes.

    Kk thank you!!

I hope this is true! I try to keep him sleeping in the bassinet but when I'm at a real loss, he comes in bed with me. Sometimes I'll get 3 hours instead of 2!!! Lol

Playing the "fall asleep at the boob, wake up when moved to my bed" game. Annoyed that DH left her in a short sleeved onesie and just put a sleep sack on too. I guess I am not communicating well enough that the AC makes it chilly for her little arms.

  • We tried putting DS in his crib for the first time tonight, and it's not going very well. He had been sleeping from 11pm to 5am for the past week, but tonight woke up at 2am and 3am. I have no idea if it's because of the new room or not, but I'm keeping him in our room after this bottle. Thought it would be easy but nope, all three of us cried tonight. Ugh!

  • @BMaidPlanner‌ - We are playing the same game here tonight. We've been spoiled the last few nights because he's gone down a lot better. I'm so tired too because I didn't get a nap today. Hoping he decides he is tired soon!

I ended up doing the thermometer thing after massaging for a while and only getting more farts out of my baby. I am glad I did! I just stuck it in there and waited for her to push, as She pushed I pulled the poop out with the thermometer it wasn't even loose it just stuck to it like a banana on a stick. I did that 3 times until there was no more poop coming to the surface of the hole and it was the same all three times. Poor thing. She ate another 1/2 oz of food and fell asleep right away (she had been up since 7:30pm struggling with her poop) I am hoping now for a poop explosion tomorrow lol!! I am going to massage her again in the morning and just keep encouraging her poopies to come out lol. She has now been sleeping in her bed since about 11pm and hasn't slept this well in her bed at all for the past couple weeks!

Hoping now between the formula change and a good poopy she will continue to be as happy as she can be! It sure has helped the colic episodes she was having last week!!

I am actually looking forward for her to wake up to eat again just so I can see her in a better mood!! I never thought I would say that!! LoL

I'm so pissed! LO has been sleeping through the night 8-11 hours but this is the 2nd night in a row my SO (and me)has been woken up by the same phone number calling him repeatedly only to not say a word when he answers. Both nights at 3AM or so. They started texting him saying "you've won 1000 dollars, call some number to get it" then "if you send a pic of your wife or gf you will get more money" then they keep sending shit like that. Just stupid, it's clearly someone just trying to fuck with him but if they call and wake me up and possibly wake up the baby one more damn time I'm gonna lose it. SO seems to think he's gonna "mess with them" when he could just block the damn number and be done with it. This is so infuriating.

I would be pissed! We have a no cell phones in the bedroom rule (or at the kitchen table). Maybe he can put it on silent and turn the vibration off?

    @satrimm‌ ughh sorry girl!!!
  • @sarajoy00 we changed to formula due to DS's daily horrible colic crying. We've now had 7 days with no screaming! He's like a new baby, it's amazing. He was STTN until today too, not sure why he got up at 2, 3, and 6am. Good luck though!

  • After a day full of 30-45 minute naps (and a pretty cranky baby) I was certain we were in for a long night... but D showed me, yet again, that I know nothing about my child.  He slept from 7:00-1:30, ate, and slept again from 2:00-6:00.  He's sleeping again peacefully, and I'm sipping on my coffee and watching Celebrity Wife Swap in my DVR (don't judge me).

Im disappointed there's no "WTF Wednesday" thread so I'll put this here. WTF DH, you offered to "take the baby" tonight because we haven't gotten to sleep the last couple of nights, I told you you didn't have to but you insisted. Apparently "taking the baby" Means taking him from me after I've fed changed and burped him, literally in bed already, to go play video games for a couple of hours downstairs, and then bring him back up to me when he needs to be fed (with a bottle, not breast) with a poopy diaper and asking me if "I want to do it". Well yes, thank goodness you brought him back, I would have been so pissed if if missed this opportunity to get up and change his poopy diaper and feed him again! Whew! Seriously...how the hell is this "helping" anybody. Wtf. Ugh.

Gosh this girl has slept maybe 30min since 1pm

She falls asleep then wakes herself up and wants to be held. Im so tired of holding her! I wish someone else was here to take her from me for a little bit so I dont have to hear her scream every time I go to the bathroom!

Getting her to sleep once again.. This time im just not going to put her down. Im so tired of having to keep her happy when she is awake but wanting to sleep at least if I am holding her and she is sleeping I have 1 arm of freedom..

    Wooh motherhood.

    @nelleebelle‌ kk thanks!

She isnt always like this. She is going through her 6 week growth spurt lol
  • My babies sleep good stretches through the night. Mama does not. Why? MFING PUMPING! I'm up every 3 hours to maintain my supply, which still isn't quite enough for two growing babies, but just enough to wake up in a sea of breast milk should I not pump in the MOTN. Twiiice.

  • Why does my daughter all of a sudden act like she has never nursed before?! She's fine for maybe a minute, then pulling off, crying, squirming, yelling, licking, chomping! This is exhausting, we are seven weeks in!
  • Playing the "fall asleep at the boob, wake up when moved to my bed" game. Annoyed that DH left her in a short sleeved onesie and just put a sleep sack on too. I guess I am not communicating well enough that the AC makes it chilly for her little arms.

We're playing the same game! It's so frustrating!!! DD used to go back down after MOTN feeding no problem until this last growth spurt. Well, her growth spurt is over but now she only wants to sleep nuzzled against me.
  • @rachel8078‌ my daughter has been doing the exact same thing, we're 8 weeks in. And my boobs feel empty all of a sudden
  • Poor little guy hasn't pooped since Monday afternoon, its now Thursday morning. He's not sleeping micha dn not eating much and is just generally very cranky, as am I. I gave him a very little diluted juice, as he doesn't much want to drink and I've tried everything else. Its so sad to watch him struggle.

  • DD had her shots this morning so I was thinking maybe they would knock her out for the night. Nope. She has been up the entire night. Soooooo tired. She is 9 weeks, why isn't she sleeping at night?!?!
