I could never keep the house at 68. We keep our ac at 75 and have a ceiling fan on in our bedroom. Even at those temps LO sleeps in a sleeper and wakes up with cold hands.
The last two days DH slept in till after 10 am while I got up with LO. After I yelled at him yesterday morning and told him how tired I am he agreed to let me sleep in this morning. Well guess who had a cup of regular coffee last night without thinking and didn't fall asleep till 4....DH. I'm so irritated right now I could scream.
He still should have gotten up with the baby. I wouldn't have let him off the hook and I hope you didn't.
I totally made him wake up when I did at 9 am to feed her. I made him stay awake with me and then gave her to him after she was done eating. No getting off the hook in this house!
68-72 is WAAAY to cold for me!! I keep the house between 81 and 83 and she has been perfectly fine! Not too cold and not too hot. Her whole body is at a normal temp. The house gets to about 76-78 at night and thats when her hands and feet get cold... Winter is going to be "fun" lol
I'd be sweating like a maggot in hot ashes at those temps! Those are our outside temps in the summer and I die.
We (read I) keep the house at 68-70 at night mainly because I can't sleep if it's hot. I put S in a long sleeve onesie and a wearable blanket or a footed sleeper and a blanket tucked under the mattress on both sides (that she kicks off).
I bump it up to 72-75 during the day so she can hang out in a regular onesie and save some money on the power bill.
Our winters are brutal here, so the heat is on constantly, but we still keep it at around 66-68 degrees (if it can keep up) and use space heaters as needed because electricity is expensive yo!
LoL our temps are over 100 here so 80s is comfortable for us haha. We also have the ceiling fan going. Im in pants with a short sleeve and socks during the day and baby is in a onsie and pants and is comfortable =]
We are on night #3 of a solid 6-7 hour stretch. He's been sleeping 8/8:30-2:30/3:00. I feel amazing! In hopes of continuing this, I have been making sure to do the EXACT same bedtime routine. Who knows if I'm nuts or not, but so far so good.
What is your routine?
I'm going to put C on his tummy tonight. He naps on his tummy and sleeps so well. His neck control is really good so I'm going to see how it goes.
Lo is confusing me. She spent the evening fake out sleeping, and then screaming. I am exhausted and in despair bc i forsee a whole night of non sleep ahead of me. I take screaming miss out of the crib to clean spit up, so she screams bc she cant watch her beloved mobile. When we are done, the second she takes a break from screaming, she falls asleep. What???
Charlie must have known tomorrow was going to be long and that I'm at the end of my rope...he let me sleep for five hours!! He's also kind of taking a bottle. He'll either take four ounces of bm or two of bm/formula split 50/50. I'll take it for now.
MOTN thoughts: I hate that my lo always sounds stuffy and I heard her wheeze and cough.
Does anyone lay back or side lay nurse and sleep?
We do every morning around five am. It's one if my favorite parts if the day. Sometimes I'll hover over him and give him the nipple that way then use down to lie down, curl my knees up to his feet and put my other arm around him so he doesn't roll. Of he's not spazzing out for the boob too badly, I we give him the nip lying down all ready and do the other things. We both always pass out after ten min or so.

We side nurse as well at the 5am or 6am feeding. Typically I doze off during this and eventually LO will unlatch and fall asleep. It helps everyone go back to sleep easier and get some extra sleep.
Two nights ago LO slept five hours and last night she slept seven. Tonight when she woke up after 4 1/2 hours I told DH she was probably hot and to unswaddle her since she was in a sleeper as well, then I rolled over and went back to sleep. I just woke up at 4 and realized she has been sleeping on DH's chest for the past two hours. I'm so grateful he took care of her so I could sleep longer!
I was going to put C on his tummy to sleep tonight and chickened out. I started questioning myself and if he was swaddled properly for it. He naps on his tummy and sleeps so well that way, I really think that will give us extra time sleeping.
@BMaidPlanner he will he 8 weeks on Monday. We do/did side lie nurse on occasion. There were times that even then he'd get drowned and it would piss him off more. When it did work, I'd have him on one side if me nursing and either a pillow or dh's back on my back to prop me up. Once he was latched and sleepy enough to stay there and not play with it, we were both able to sleep.
My LO just slept for 6.5 hrs. Unfortunately I didn't because it freaked me out a little bit (and I decided to pump at one point). We always get the most sleep on bath nights, but never this much. Apparently we need to have some kind of bath a part of every night routine...
Ditto on 68-72 being too cold. Not to mention too expensive... It was 118 outside the other day, I can't even imagine what our electricity bill would be to cool our house by 40 degrees. We keep it at 80 during the day and 78 at night and or bill is already ridiculous.
We keep the temp between 70 and 73. I don't know how you all survive with it warmer. Also, I have read that you can't judge a baby's temperature by their feet or hands. You should feel the back of their neck. Circulation is less in their extremities so they're going to feel colder sometimes. Doesn't mean the baby is cold.

I (stupidly) changed a bunch of stuff all at once so I don't know what's making the difference. We used to do bath, onesie + SwaddleMe, nurse in the nursery, and rock to sleep. He was waking up a bunch of times initially and about every 3 hours overnight.
Now we skip the bath because I think it was actually waking him up more. Routine starts by changing him into long-sleeved sleeper jammies instead of just a onesie. Give him a bottle instead of nurse (getting him ready for when I head back to work, plus I can make sure he gets a nice fully belly). Feed in the living room, just like every other feeding. Pat his bum til he gets sleepy, then swaddle and lay him down relatively awake with his soothie. So far, he's drifted off to sleep within 10 minutes or so, and sleeps at least 6 hours.

I don't judge it. She does and cries when her hands and feet get too cold lol.
Sorry for the double post (also in BF thread) but I'm desperate..
My LO is 7 wks. She has started rejecting all things silicone.. It started two wks ago with refusing to take bottle which we had been doing once a day.
Now she's refusing to latch with the nipple shield on. Unfortunately she's never able to stay latched for long without it (tmi - flat nipples). As a result we have had a few grueling hours tonight of her screaming in frustration. When she comes off I instantly switch her.. Which works but I have to keep doing it every few minutes.
I'm not sure what to do. This happened for a few hours yesterday (Friday) and now tonight. She finally fell asleep and I'm hoping she feels differently about the shield when she awakes for MOTN feed. Any advice is appreciated. Diapers (wet and poops) are ok for now but we are keeping a close eye to make sure she's getting enough to eat.
Thoughts? We're at our whits end and the night has just begun.
We are staying at my moms for the night, which means all four of us in one room. I take the first stint of sleep in there and then when Charlie wakes up for a motn feed we move to the couch so we don't wake the two year old. Works great. Well, this weekend my parents are also dog sitting my brothers lab. Last night she peed in her crate and the only way to empty it left pee all over all the floors and my mother spent an hour cleaning at 5am. I'm pretty sure I just heard the damn dog do it again, but don't want to check in case I'm wrong and all I do is set her to barking. On the other hand, I don't want her sleeping in pee and starting to bark at some point, waking both my babies. Sigh.
So I think I'm entering the territory where when he wakes up in the MOTN he's not nessecarily hungry. He sleeps pretty well usually from like 10-3 and then again till 6. Tonight he work up at 2. Wasn't very hysterical and barely ate (nursing) and kept falling asleep while eating. So I assume he wasn't actually hungry right?
4:25am here and just put dd down for the second time since 4am.. I can hear her fussing on the monitor already and I'm all hooked up to the pump downstairs. I want to throatpunch DH right now for being a drunk idiot (it was his birthday last night) and being unable to help me right now.
Lo decided to wake up at 4. This is probably bc i just started to fall asleep at 3:30. She does this amazing combo of snoring, and almost hiccuping that keeps me up. The longer I am awake, the more I feel compelled to do things that i would not wake up for. I am pumping now.

thx
I had flat nips too but after a few weeks with the shield they stuck out enough we were able to stop using it. If I am engorged or fresh out of a warm shower they still flatten out be we can work through it by squeezing and supporting my boob. Can you pump for a couple minutes before feeding or try a nipple everter to help while LO is rejecting silicone?
Will she take a paci? If it's just the shield and bottle she refuses maybe it's a flow issue?
@AbbySeiden babies have 2 sleep cycles - deep sleep and awake sleep (not sure of those are the correct names). In awake sleep, they can grunt, open eyes, etc. but also will fall back asleep quickly most if the time. I will make sure and wait until j is actually crying in the motn to grab him.
If I let her, I know LO would sleep a solid 6 hours or so, but right now I have to wake her up to eat every 2 hours during the day and 3 hours at night. We are both so tired and just want to sleep!
Is it your pedi who wants you to wake her up? Maybe you could get an updated weight check and see how she's doing and if she still needs to be woken up to eat?

Sorry mama, that's rough! What is the reason if you don't mind ? After we got back to birth weight we were able to stop that.

I know how you feel! it was the best day ever when B was allowed to go on demand at night. still every 2-3 hrs during the day though. how much does she need to catch up before you can stop? big hugs, she will get there before you know it!
We are starting off tonight in the bassinet.... K already woke up after I laid him down and he's currently eating his hand... I'm rocking it but hunkered down on my bed so he won't see me.
@astalyons mine does this too. So annoying bye does it before bed sometimes too. He was in the boob off and in almost an hour and a half today. Nursing butter helps the sore nips. It's from wal mart and half the price if lanolin
How do I get my kid to sleep longer than 3 hours? He's clock work, every three hours he has to eat. We've tried tiring him out in the bath (which works, he falls asleep almost immediately after the bath for a couple hours), not doing bath time, rocking and not. I think I am going to put him down in his room to see if the mattress is more comfy. I'm so tired. By the time I get everything done, I'm up for an hour and only get two hours of sleep. Ugh, my head is pounding.
So jazzed about being on my period 4 weeks postpartum, a period that is heavier than I've ever been (and I'm one of those who is always heavy for about 7-10 days typically). So waking up multiple times through the night to change pads is already a joy tonight.
And my 4 week old babe has timed it perfectly to where he wants to up his nighttime food intake the same week that I'm up changing pads. So momma's pulling an all nighter basically.
I'll gladly feed my child. I won't gladly change my diaper-sizes pad every other hour.

J just slept from 11:30 to 5:15. I'm so happy. There's light at the end of this tunnel (7 weeks)
