Re: Awkward questions & comments said to you when you announced

  • @bloomraiser‌ My MIL can be rude too, so I feel your pain. She insisted that our child had to be a boy because their side of the family is mostly male dominated. When we did our reveal that our baby is a girl she was quiet and kept saying "I guess that's ok". Seriously? How do you even respond to that? She has since shown a major lack of interest in her granddaughter, and honestly, I think it's because she wasn't right about it being a boy. I somewhat expected this and I'm sadly used to the rude comments...It's basically the norm.

This woman would not be in my life if I was in your situation.  Does your DH know she says these things?

  • @stinarusnak I am so sorry you have to deal with someone like that in your life. :( I would strongly consider cutting ties.  I'm curious also as to what your husband thinks when she says those things to you.

  • "So, you've heard the heart beat right?" Implying that maybe it wasn't a sure thing or we'd lose it. like I needed anymore added stress/worry/anxiety to the situation. RUDE.

I had a friend tell me she is also expecting! Exciting, right? I guess.. Until she rubbed me the wrong way by saying "I was really hoping I would be pregnant by the time we last saw each other (when I told her I was pg again), but then you stole it!" Uhh sorry I "stole" it, and messed up your pregnancy timing? (I didn't even know they were TTC) 8-|
Ugh I know where your coming from w/ this one!! I have a friend who got engaged after I got engaged (actually went to her bf and had a breakdown about it and how he hadn't asked her and all her friends were getting married) And now that I'm pregnant all she wants to talk about is her trying to get pregnant. It's kind of annoying, just let me have my moment LOL

  • @WildFlower810and anyone else who's getting asked if it was "planned" - my new answer to this is "yes, I've been planning this my whole life." Seems to shut them up!

The TIMING was not exactly planned, but nobody else needs to know that :)
