We turned our dining room into a cigar lounge because apparently we live on the set of Boardwalk Empire.
Random question: why do Americans refer to it as 'the fourth of July' and not just 'independence day'? We don't call Canada Day 'the 1st of July' although I admit 'CANADA DAY' isn't very imaginative in terms of a name. Haha
I propose you call it USA DAY to match ours.
"Congress established the first federal holidays in 1870: “the first day of January, commonly called New Year's day, the fourth day of July, the twenty-fifth day of December, commonly called Christmas day, and any day appointed or recommended by the President of the United States as a day of public fast or thanksgiving.” The decision to include common names for New Year’s Day and Christmas, but not Independence Day, indicates how rare the phrase had become. In 1938, Congress granted pay to federal employees on holidays, listing all by name, including Fourth of July, rather than Independence Day."

So, I am finally caught up, so I figured I weigh in.
Regarding Hair - I have had a pixie cut, and love how it fits my face, but I like being able to play with my hair, so I'm growing it out again.
Regarding HGTV - I get so tired of the open floor plan being a "must have" on those shows. I am drawn to older homes though and my favorite HGTV show is Rehab Addict. Love her designs.
And now, I go to bed.

We were up at 4:00 as usual, and both dogs thought they were getting up for the day. When I did get up for the day at 6, it was bright enough to see clearly in our room and what's the first thing I see? Two piles of dog puke on the floor. Awesome. Hope DH had fun cleaning that up!
Holy hell it's humid! We're growth spurting up in here, so we are hibernating in the air conditioning and doing a whole lot of this:
This is us too! It's 72 in our apartment and 85 with a million percent humidity outside. I sort of feel crazy dressing her in a onesie and pants and socks but hey, if baby is happy and sleeping, so be it!
Taking my two hour glucose tolerance test today that I was supposed to do two months post partum. Eww and ain't nobody got time for this. Also, fasting. Ughhhhhhh
Me too. I kind of want to cry every time she's all excited and happy this morning because I know she's going to be miserable in a few hours! But I am excited to see how much she weighs and how tall she is too.

Just kidding about my last post. I called to confirm the time, and it turns out it's next Wednesday, not today. "> Which brings me to a question: she was 2 months on the 21st. Is that normal to have it more than two weeks after? Or as long as the shots are spaced out correctly it doesn't matter?

That doesn't matter. LO turned 2 months on the 23rd, but her pediatrician was on vacation and I wanted him to be there for the injections because he's so good with babies. So I waited til he was available.
edit: I mean 2 months (I had typed 2 weeks, oops!)
Yeah. my OB/Pedi (one in the same, we keep it in the fam) said as long as shots are spaced out, it's cool. Good luck to you two today!

I love Rehab Addict! DH hates it. We fight over it constantly lol. He thinks old homes are all haunted and should be gutted to the studs and redone with all the modern conveniences. Now comes the part where I say we live in a historic 1901 home that has been restored, not remodeled. Go friggin figure.
I'm jealous of your old home. We don't have any like that here. My hometown was formed as a tent city in 1914 and most of the earliest homes were destroyed in the 1964 earthquake. I watch Rehab Addict and dream.

I live in a house from 1906. When I first bought the place, I was single (and not happily so). One of my woo-woo friends (OK, my woo-woo-est friend) came over and said that a ghost of an old lady still lived there and I would be single until I "got rid of her energy." She recommended burning sage.
You bet your ass I went out and bought some sage that day.
We used to live in a mining cabin from 1905 that had been added onto over the years. I'm really glad to have lived there, but more glad for insulation and walls that don't have critters living in them. Our phone would stop working and we knew the chipmunks had been busy!
@SarahL2P I had a half Pyrenees half saint when I first married DH he was a great dog, so was the saint that came after him. Truly gentle kid loving giants. My GSD has not been the same since he passed. The short life is so said however. Your pyrenese must be female, so tiny!
Shots are done. Not as bad as I thought they would be (she didn't lose her breath) but it took her 5 minutes to calm down enough to latch. I hated watching her face change from happy to tortured. In other news she's 13.8 lbs... Oink.
13.8?!? DAAAYAMN! That's some good mommy milk you've got! Merri came in at 11.10 today but 26.25".
Can I just AW my little guy?? He seems to have found his tongue this week and 90% of his weekly pictures I took today have that little tongue stuck out. It was cracking me up and melting my heart all at once!
I bought bacon and sour cream chips today! Can't wait to open that bag up.. I'm wondering if I should wait for DH to get home from his softball game or just do it

Wow! Making my LO seem even smaller than I was thinking! The doctor did say she was petite but still in the 50th percentile. She weighed in at 10.3 & 21.75" long at her 2 month checkup. Seeing that her dad is 6'3" & 250+ it blows my mind that she is still so small!
Do your doctors tell you what percentile your baby is in? It's making me curious but my doctor has never mentioned it..
I asked the doctor. He's not really a fan of them though because he said as long as your baby is growing and putting on weight it doesn't really matter. He said it stresses some parents out more than anything.
My mom came to watch LO so I could finally go to the salon and get my hair colored- yay!!
It's been almost three hours and I'm still at the salon because she messed up my initial color- WTF?! Now I'm feeling guilty that it's taking so long...
Thanks ladies!! Based on that chart my LO is tiny! But she's growing well so I'm not going to overthink it.. She was 5.5 lbs at birth (39 weeks) so I guess it makes sense.
@Jennmoak Merri was 20" and almost 9 pounds at birth!
@PoppySeedWindsor ok that makes sense! Miss Marley was 7.1lbs at birth and got down to 5.8lbs because she was not latching well.
@JennMoak that would be some intense 24/7 nursing to get Miss Marley up that much. That'd be insane! I bet she is just the cutest little bean ever. I hope you're having better latching luck, too!
Merri was a pretty big girl to begin with. She's dropped in the weight percentile but is like, off the charts on length.
@PoppySeedWindsor she is nursing like a champ now thank you! It was a rough first week then we EP'd for 3 weeks but we stuck through it and are both enjoying EBF now
Stopped by the grocery store to pick up some snacks after a stupid hard workout and I swear the Cheez-its box said Cheez-tits. I went back to make sure. Thanks a lot A14 and your lovetits.
I CAN'T get the boogers out of B's nose and its driving me insane. Help!

So, in short, it's the government's fault. As usual.
Then I peed on a stick...
