  • @pineconey So sorry about the rough night. DD was like that when she was an infant, it was so rough on us. I really hope TinyPiney starts sleeping better for you soon.

  • DD is doing better today. Nursing is taking twice as long because she can't breathe as well. Which is frustrating for both of us.

My SIL called last night and mentioned the swing my in laws have is not reclined, it just sit them straight up. Not going to work for sleeping in. So I either need to get her used to sleeping somewhere else in 3 days or bring our swing with us. I sense I will be taking apart the swing...
  • Sorry for your rough night @pineconey. It's so frustrating when they need sleep so badly that they can't sleep.

@dani+california‌, take a shot eh? Reading helps me fall asleep, but sometimes in the middle of the night I just lie there, listening to lo's white noise till I fall asleep.

  • Morning everyone! First MOTN feed for us today - its now 3am. DD is usually a good sleeper - well at night. But for some reason during the day will now only nap for 40mins or so. Its a new thing, until a few days ago she would sleep for 2 hrs in the avo. Any ideas why the change?

2nd leap maybe? Seems to be the norm for a lot of people.
I have missed a lot, whats a leap?

My SO is freaking out because Chasr still has a small bump on his leg from where his shots were. It was exactly 7 days ago and it's the leg he got 2 shots on. It's not red or sensitive he doesn't care if you touch it. Should I be concerned? Now I'm worried I'm way too relaxed..

  • @poru I'm sorry and don't blame you at all for crying.

  • @lia619‌ - I am totally with you on the leaving the restaurant while child is freaking out front. My SO seems way less phased by it too, but I am getting out of there when a meltdown ensues.
  • We just found out this week that DD needs PT because she favors looking to the right. :-( Thinking of the other babies going through this. Do your kids hate tummy time because of this?

Any ideas how long until it's corrected? I plan to ask next week at her first appointment.

At our two month appointment I mentioned that DD favors her right side. I was hoping for reassurance that it was normal. Our pediatrician checked her in a few different positions and, while she can look to the left, she almost always will turn right. It's called torticollis, her right neck muscles are tight and shorten. PT isn't always needed, a lot of parents have success doing stretches at home. We've started the stretches at home and will go to PT once a week for 6 weeks.

I never knew infant PT existed before this week. I was pretty upset that there was something "wrong" with DD, but the more I talk to people I realize it's not super uncommon. I'm hoping it'll be easy to correct. Being a mom is tough.

@mamrotu73‌ at his 1 month check doc said Every time that I put him down turn to right, because he was continuously fixated on an object in office. So I did. He immediately turns left and never stays looking right. Today we did TT at his 2 mo appt and he was going back left, and he was "fighting" her to go back right. She also said his head was getting a spot from where he lays looking left.

We have a pretty major flat spot over here. I've tried everything. Our ped said he will most likely grow out of it, but to me it's pretty bad. I feel like a helmet is in our future.

  • I have a really hard time doing different rhythmic things with both hands simultaneously. I'm trying to gently rub LO's forehead with one hand and rocking the RNP with the other and it keeps getting all messed up.
  • I took the boys to a little petting zoo/toddler play place today with my stepmom. I fed the baby doing the 2 shirt trick - and she scolded me for not covering myself up with a blanket. Because you could see some side boob, and what if a man came by? Because I'm sure the daddies with toddlers would be utterly scandalized by side boob, right? I have a harder time nursing around my family than NIP in front of total strangers.
I would tell her to shove it. I do the 2 shirt trick, but I usually also have a blanket to cover up. I don't mind NIP, but LO has a difficult time staying latched when i feed him in the carrier, so there's definitely lots of nipple exposure. Not to mention that due to my oversupply, I crazy spray/drip milk all over the place as soon as he unlatches. I'm sure it would be quite entertaining to watch. Maybe I should just embrace it and set a tip jar out.

This is one of my strengths. I wish I could teach you, but it's just one of those thing I do without much thought. My fave is tap eighths notes and triplets at the same time. A good trick to demo around music nerds (I was also my high school's drum major).
I wish you could teach me too. I just successfully did the patting my head while rubbing my stomach thing, so I'm not a completely lost cause.
  • Fi got all vaxxed up today. Doc gave us a hard time about insufficient tummy time because she wasn't super excited to perform for her (I mean, seriously, she's got a cold and a big ol 92nd percentile noodle to haul around.) Other than that, she grew two inches and three pounds, so my little Michelin Man/Gerber baby hybrid is rockin it out. I guess I have to be thankful the boobs are doing their job, even though I'm so over their ridiculous size.
Pic? Need to see some Fi!
  • Oh you guys. I just tried to do salt dough prints...total fail :( Me, the baby, the mamaroo and surrounding areas are covered in flour. I am not good at crafts.
At least you tried. I knew mine would turn out awful so didn't even attempt it.

I'm too behind to comment on everything I missed, so I'll just say big hugs to all you guys having bad days and cheers for cute babies and food days. I don't comment a ton but this thread is my main source of amusement these days :)

...That's supposed to say good days but I'm gonna leave it cuz food days rock! Eat all the foods!

  • @jellysparkles she is sooooooooooo adorable!! I am with you on the snot thing. I've been using the Nose Frida twice a day and it seems never ending.
  • I think I'm more apt to nip around strangers. (Although @baileymama3‌ how do you do it in the k'tan?!?! I would love that). If I'm around people I know, but not well enough to share secrets with the bottle comes out or we go somewhere else.
  • The beast is finally asleep for the first time all day, and not in the swing! (Although in bed with me is not much better).

And since DH got 9 uninterrupted hours of sleep last night I don't care if this messes up her night sleep. He can deal with her when he gets home from work!
