I finally put together baby girl's bouncer yesterday, bought and installed batteries today, and it's magic. I can't remember the last time she's gone to sleep on her own without being rocked to sleep and stayed asleep during a nap longer than 15 minutes. <:-P

DS1 just left for my parent's house until Wednesday. I'm trying to think about how nice it will be to relax and just bond with Owen, but I really just want to cry my eyes out. My baby!!!!
Just got to the grocery after leaving a screaming, hungry baby with DH. Checked our baby app, and saw "Josie had a diaper change," and "Josie drank 3 oz. of milk," pop up. That'll do, Pig. That'll do.

@aviola329 I'd recommend it. It isn't the prettiest app, but synchs instantly upon launch between my phone, my husband's, and my tablet. We all sign in with the same account and it works great. Better than all the free ones I tried. I'm a data whore, and I love that it has graphs for whatever you track.
Eta: we use it to track: Breast feedings (as a timer and which side) Diapers (wet/poo. You can track volume and consistency but we don't do that.) Sleep timer Pumping timer, side, and output Bottle feedings Weight Height Head circumference
It tracks more things, but that's enough for me.

Some of you may remember a month or two ago when I was posting a play by play of the police at my neighbors condo arresting someone.
Yesterday we were driving past that unit and saw that they had parked an SUV in their garage and that they had spray painted the back gold. We laughed about how tacky it looked and went about our business. When we got home, DH was on FB and saw a post that the police were looking for a blue GMC Yukon with barn style doors that were each a different color from the main body of the vehicle. It was a stolen vehicle and had been involved in a hit and run that put a man on a motorcycle in the hospital.
DH recalled that he had seen a couple of men swapping the rims between that SUV and the truck in the driveway. They had also taken the hood off the SUV and had it in the bed of the truck under a tarp. DH called the police to report it because it was suspicious.
Four police officers were there for five hours today. They ended up towing both vehicles. The police eventually called DH back. Turns out the SUV was the one involved in the hit and run. They also took the truck because it had the rims that had been on the SUV (tampering with evidence)!

Just had to tap out. Little girl has been fussy for hours and I needed a mental break. Hiding in the basement bathroom..... Can hear DH and the fuss monster looking for me already. I've been gone 5 flipping minutes!!!
On three separate occasions tonight, I've had to hand off baby girl to my husband for one reason or another. It didn't take too long before she started screaming and crying. Everything was fine with her (fed, changed, had a nap, burped), and when I took her it didn't take long at all for me to calm her down. It was almost instantaneous.
This isn't the first time it's happened, and last night when I was in the shower the same thing happened but when my MIL took her, she calmed pretty quickly with her too.
Is my husband not doing something right? Does she prefer me over him? Do women emit some kind of something that calms her? I don't understand.
I'm not frustrated with her; I'm more frustrated with my husband but trying not to be. He honestly tries the best he knows how. I try to give him tips and to mimic what I do with her, but it still doesn't work. I'm at a loss.

@SLSchuerg I find that to be true here too. I've noticed that he's very stiff/tense when he holds her. He's very uncomfortable with newborns and keeps saying how he can't wait until she can sit on her own and crawl. Maybe your hubby is tensing up and LO can tell? Penny calms down almost immediately when I take her (unless it's gas or something like that.)
@MadBloom love titted in solidarity. My husband made me a margarita tonight - it's been that kind of day here. Frigging second leap is gnarly.
She just farted for like 10 minutes after dipping her soother in gripe water. Then ate for 10 min and passed the ef out. I'm watching orange is the new black with baby girl using the boob as a pillow. This might be a couch night.
I just rode my bike for the first time in 2 years... To avoid spending time with my in laws...
I deserve Dairy Queen now, right?
Please get the S'mores Blizzard. It looks soooooooooo yummy.
I keep getting the damn jingle stuck in my head.
Edit, hit post too soon
I may or may not have gotten that one Friday night (after a 35 min walk) and again today. Apparently working out = ice cream these days. Oy. Thank goodness for those extra calories from breast feeding....
Also- I don't know about the jingle as we don't have a tv. Am I missing out?

I was clipping DS's nails earlier and I was on the LAST one and he squirmed, causing me to cut off a chunk of skin. He bled quite a bit. I felt so awful. Ended up putting band aids on it because applying pressure wasn't stopping it quickly enough. Poor kid.

I think babies have a natural connection with their Mamas that soothes them. I found this to be true with both DS1 and DS2 and it has been frustrating for DH both times. He really wants to help out and I can tell his feeling get hurt when the baby cries when he's holding him, but then instantly hushes when I take over. No worries though, DS1 prefers DH now that he's older unless he's sick or hurt.
Today was the first day in a week that DD nursed all day, no bottles! I didn't pump all day either, and now for some lame reason both breasts are engorged, so I may have to pump a little before I sleep just for comfort. Oh and she decided to fight sleep and scream for the past 2 hours. She's finally asleep, but I'm afraid she's going to wake again any minute
@aviola329 I paid for the app again on my tablet because it's got google play and my phone is an iPhone. DH didn't have to pay for it because we share an iTunes account.

Was looking for a good one that DH and I could use together
DH and I use the Sprout app together, the only thing that sucks is you have to pay on both devices but I have found it to be worth it. Not buggy at all, and tracks pretty much everything you can think of. (Feedings, sleep, diapers, pumping, growth, doctor visits, questions for pedi and saves your answers from pedi, milestones, immunizations, and custom activities like tummy time, bath time, etc). I straight up stalk DH and Sullivan with this app while I'm at work.
Eta: I really dig the feeding tracker because it keeps track of every kind of feeding in the same place; bottle (with option of BM or formula), how much they ate, boob, which boob the kid is on, how long they ate, and eventually solid food (and then that tracks what they ate and if they liked it, totally looking forward to that one!). You can also do custom activity tracking like birl mentioned with baby connect... Not sure if that one is free or not though, if you can get all that functionality fo' free, do it up!

I have found that our kiddo just straight up acts differently with DH and I and while he hasn't done the "I'm gonna scream for dad for no reason" thing, sometimes he seems to just want his mama. DH says it's cause he's figured out I cuddle him more and he's a mama's boy already. I've been trying not to expect the same results from the same behavior with different people, and that has helped any frustration with our son, kwim? I would go easy on your DH, it probably hurts his feelings a little that your little stinker wigs out on him. I know mine is a little bummed that Sullivan for the most part only social smiles for mom, he would feel so defeated if every time I handed him over he cried!
@MadBloom I think he does tense up some when trying to calm her. I paid attention to his "technique" one time last night, and he was bouncing and shushing her in a pretty severe kind of way, if that makes sense? Like it was gentle and fluid. I hope that makes sense. I pointed it out to him, saying that maybe he gets tensed or stressed the more/longer she cried, but he insisted he wasn't. I dunno.
@ColleenSwerb I figured he might just have to find his own way, but I feel bad it has to be at her expense. Like, how long am I supposed to let her just scream with him? It seems she gets more upset the longer he tries. And sorry that you're experiencing the same thing with Eliza!
@fireflygirl12 Yeah, he's really good with her when she's happy, and she's glad to be with him then, it's just when she's upset. I guess I should be glad that she doesn't just get upset when she's not antsy.
@JessieAlbin My husband blamed it on him not having boobs :P because most of the time all I have to do is hold her against me upright while bouncing and shushing her. I think it does hurt his feelings a little bit judging from his reaction, so I'm trying to be understanding about it. Hopefully it doesn't last long...

@SLSchuerg we are going through the same thing and it sucks. I have been trying to give DH plenty of time with DS when he's happy so that they can bond.
Usually in the evenings when DS likes to cry before going to bed, I'll jump in the shower and give DH a chance to calm him. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't but either way they are working it out so DH feels like he can comfort him and I don't have to hear the crying. I take over if he is still fussing once I'm done with my shower.
@bootsiebabe She does seem to be fussiest right before bed too! And funny that you should mention the shower thing. When I was in there is when he was able to calm her down the most. Like he could get her to calm down for a minute or 2, whereas the other two times she just cried constantly.
One thing that makes all of this worse is the fact that we live with my ILs. They live downstairs, but almost every time she's like this, my MIL will come investigate to see what's wrong. She did last night right after I got out of the shower and was walking upstairs. THAT is what makes ME tense. 1) I don't know what's wrong with her. If I did she wouldn't be crying anymore, and 2) you asking doesn't help anything.
I know she means well and is just concerned because she loves her, but I wish she would let us parent and figure things out as if we lived at our own place, which we will within the next month, month and a half. Thank God.

I had totally forgotten about this, but when DD was little she couldn't stand men. It was really odd. In our case DH was the exception--she liked DH. But other than him it didn't matter how familiar the person was, she would cry if a man tried to hold her. Sometimes just seeing a man was enough to set her off. She would let a complete stranger hold her, as long as that person was female. She grew out of it, but it was so weird. I didn't think a baby would be able to distinguish between male and female.

We're planning on this year but now will wait until next year when Penny is old enough to be left for a week so we can get away.
