I don't even remember when I made it. It's been quite a long time, and I still have a lot left. It lasts quite a while since you only need to use 1-2 tbsp

@poru I know what you mean, but also don't know what you mean because I have yet to actually introduce a bottle. I've not started pumping yet because I "don't want to hurt my supply before it's established." This is true, because I've heard waiting until 6-ish weeks is best and I don't have to be back at work so there's no time pressure to introduce a bottle. But even more true is that I don't know how I'll do watching someone else feed my baby. Even DH. On the one hand I can't wait to give her a bottle. I want the freedom and the shared night feedings so that we can sleep for 4-6 hour stretches instead of us both being up every three. But I don't really want to give up this one thing that - so far - only I can do for my baby. It's the one thing that makes her mine. I can retreat and get time for us when people are over or being grabby. It's a very duplicitous paradox: exclusively breastfeeding is freaking hard and I want to give it up, but I simultaneously can't imagine anyone else feeding her. There's something so elemental about it, so maternal about it for me, and I'm not yet ready for her to get that from anyone else.

Honestly, the mixed-up emotions I have about bottle feeding make me feel crazy.

I'm in such an awful mood. DS2 has decided sleeping tonight is overrated. DH is on his weekend trip to Hilton Head and can't even find 5 mins to talk to me. We always say good night to each other unless he is deployed, but he never called me tonight and it's pissing me off. I'm taking care of our entire family, not spending any money so he could take this trip and he can't find 5 mins to say good night?
When he is done with classes, I have decided I'm taking a weekend trip to a resort. He can take care of the kids and dogs while my sister and I go relax.
  • @BiggerinRealLife‌ I just watched my MIL feed baby. She came running from the other room at 2 am begging to when she heard baby cry. I wanted to pump because i had a few drinks and DH is drunk and snoring in bed and said he felt too drunk to feed her. It burns my soul with the heat of a thousand suns to let her feed B.

We are having such a lazy day today. All Cy wants to do is eat and sleep. It makes sense, I guess, since it seems he is between leaps. It's nice to have the rest.

    I love those days!

I know what you guys mean!! I can't stand the thought of MIL feeding Penny. Everytime she's over she's so freaking grabby like immediately no matter what's going on and thinks that if I start to burp her then she's done eating and try's to take her.
I gladly sat for 20 minutes to pump just over an oz for my dad to feed her though. He's the only one who basically reads my mind when it comes to her. He knows exactly when she needs me and he's so good with her. I just hate how MIL is with her though and she "squeezes" when she hugs and I'm paranoid she's going to squeeze my baby.... My neices always fake a choking sound when she hugs them because she squeezes them so hard.
Oh and she hovers when I breastfeed. It's making me hella uncomfortable that I've started using a cover when she's there. I feel like she's trying to check out my tits!!

@Madbloom Definately some similarities! She's so pretty! And now I'm gonna say what in hear from everyone who sees Josie: "look at all that hair!" They part on the same side too. :D Has hers grown much since birth? I think Josie's got almost an inch in four weeks, which is how fast line grows. That pic is beautiful, by the way!

This baby has been up for the past seven hours. You can't make this shit up. As for me, I haven't slept in 24. I am somewhere in between breaking down in tears and simply breaking something (probably my pump, because that bitch has it coming at this point). :((

  • Anyone else's LO wiggle and sleep-grunt so much that they move themselves from one side of the crib to the other? Got woken up just a bit ago by grunting and much kicking of the crib slats at the far end of the crib from where I put her. She winds up with her swaddle blanket bunched up around her head, but she won't sleep without the damned thing. x.x;;

Speaking of those personal fundraising/internet chip ins...

The craziest thing I've ever seen was posted by a friend; she created a chip in asking for almost 20k to buy different workout equipment/high tech machines so she could lose weight.  I think someone gave her $5 just to humor her.

I know she feels like she needs these things to achieve her goal, but isn't 20k excessive?  To expect other people to pay for you?  I was amazed...
  • @honeyzoo That wakes sense to me, because it never feels like anything WRONG, just ouch. And it does feel like they're getting full. Thanks!

  • @SoulTermination‌ could you try the rolled-up towels under the sheet trick? It should keep her in place. Just keep the towels at rib-height for safety.

    What's this trick? O.o

  • @BiggerinRealLife‌ Believe it or not she's had that much from day 1!! It's even starting to thin. Haha. I have seen a bit of growth in the back by her neck. It's all curly and cute after a bath but then goes right back into the "penhawk" as we've coined it! She's got a natural Mohawk!

  • @ColleenSwerb‌ I feel ya! I had a huge cry fest when I finally tried on regular clothes. At 3 weeks pp my mom insisted I get shorts with her, I was actually embarrassed with what size I need. (Like you two sizes big than pre baby and I was actually at pre pregnancy weight). Most of my clothes don't fit the same now at 7 pp but it's getting better!
  • It's 1pm and DH wants to mow the lawn and have me put LO in the front carrier and go feed the goats. Goats should have been fed a while ago now.

I said its too buggy and shed get bitten.

He's pissed that he has to do everything....

I put the baby down and I have maybe 10 minutes before she's crying... I managed to feed the dog and do some dishes but I'm sorry I just can't leave her alone to go do the goats and she'll get eaten alive if I take her! I tried it.

So he "fed" them... But didn't take them water or stay with the older goat to make sure the younger two don't eat all her food...

I'm nursing. Just do it right the first time and take them water!!!!!

    Ugh.

I'm so frustrated. I'm alone ALL day. DH has been working 10-12 hour days with 2 hours of driving 6 days a week.

I'm so depressed over not being able to get anything done.

I thought hey. DH can have some cuddle time with LO and I can clean up a bit around the house since DH invited people over for a BBQ today. Maybe we can tag team holding baby all day long so that she's happy and stuff gets done.

    Nope.

@MadBloom‌ we have the same MIL. It got better with the second kid thankfully. Sometimes I would say: I am going to take her to th other room to nurse. She has been feeding better when it's quiet.

If I remember correctly she's also polish right?! Must have been something in the water back then! Haha

So... I should make a donation account to help pay my student loans? I might actually get some money?

Honestly though I'd feel so tacky doing it and my family would shame me.
  • After not sleeping well for 24 hrs and being incredibly fussy, then deciding to have a huge blowout in target, dd is finally calm and napping. I feel like I should be productive and at least shower. Instead I'm watching property brothers and reading trashy magazines. A shower every day isn't a requirement right? ;-)

haha yes. While my MIL will never admit it, I think it was pretty standard in her day in Poland for the grandma to take care of the kids. People in the family frequently refer to how grandma took care of my hubby and his twin when they were newborns. And it's culture to be "dramatic". I learned polish for a little while with a tutor living in Poland via Skype, and she would always remind me that when people ask how are you, it's not polite to smile and say great. It's polite to complain about all the hardships you have. Smiling and saying great is bragging.

I had never heard that but it makes SO MUCH Sense!! She's always complaining or telling a "bad story" as I like to call it. If someone hasn't died or gotten divorced then she won't share the news haha.
My favourite was when she and her daughters were literally crying about how dear Rita had died and that it wasn't her time And she had so much going for her. I had to ask DH who this Rita was because I assumed that it was a close family friend or relative.... Nope, Rita McNeil. The singer. They were bawling about this woman. Lol what a bunch!!

@emily041285 Property Brothers for the win.  LO is sleeping in my lap.  I should put him down and get a shower and be as productive as he will allow, but here I sit, one handed surfing and watching PBs...

This same gal has also openly asked on fb for help paying her rent and her utilities, as well as people to come do her yardwork, and asked to borrow a car for a week...  She astounds me.

Just found a tick on O. Luckily it was just on her shirt but I freaked out and stripped her so I could check every crevice between her rolls. Fucking CT and it's obscenely high rate of Lyme disease, now I'm going to be paranoid every time we go for a walk.

We have so many ticks! They seem to love DH. He always finds at least one after going outside.

Mostly I see dog ticks, but I've seen a few deer ticks as well. I don't remember them ever being so bad when I was younger.
  • Pulled out my bin of summer clothes to try and find something new to wear. This could be really depressing, the post-2-sections muffin top is STRONG.

I've only had 1 section & 1 child but I am similarly saddened by my anti-summer appropriate muffin top. Looks like several more weeks of yoga pants & SO's tshirts are in my future :(
  • $338,000 for 1,000 sq ft that looks like squatters lived there?!?? Suddenly very thankful for the cost of living here!

@nicole mackenzie‌ I'm sorry for the frustration you're going through. Sounds like your DH has no idea how hard a newborn is, since he thinks you should be doing more. It'd be nice if he could be alone with her for several hours, to get some perspective.

I have 6oz pumped... Maybe next weekend ill leave them alone.

@NoLaLinz‌ you sound much more productive than me.

LO is a month old today. I do laundry, walk the dog to get the mail, sweep ( so much dog hair!) pay our bills and manage our budget. Nurse every hour... Change diapers... Try to spend some time mentally stimulating LO with tummy time and reading to her.

The first couple of weeks it hurt to move :(

Week 3 LO and I were both sick and LO didn't let me out her down.

This past week I've been trying to do more as LO will give me 10-15 minutes before needing something.

I feel so guilty I kinda wish he'd just gone to work today :( he just seems grumpy when he's around and it makes me feel depressed and worthless.
