Has anyone else installed their car seat yet? I just went out and bought ours today with some BRU gift cards (after having an associate come out and make sure it fit). I was going to leave it in the box until DH gets home tomorrow, but I couldn't help myself.. I had to take it out and install it. I can't believe there is going to be a tiny human in that seat in about a month! :-o
Tomorrow I'm going to something called shrimpfest at this swanky yacht club that one of my friends invited us to. I can't even tell you how many shrimp I'm going to inhale at this thing. I don't care how gross I look in front of these preppy rich people, I fricken love shrimp. Bubba from Forrest Gump style.
Had too much fun at Ikea, Michaels and BRU today...how do I hide this bill!! Hope everyone has a great Memorial Day weekend!
Where'd you get the dresser from? We're still looking for one and it looks like the size we're looking for.
It is the Sorelle Verona double dresser in french white. You can google to see who has it the cheapest, but I got mine with the crib from Bambi Baby (online). No tax and free shipping. They are having a sale right now too.
I'm going to be a total AW, but I have to share this pic of my little guy smiling at today's ultrasound. Can't wait to see everyone's cute LOs in a few months!
I just had a little scare when I noticed I hadn't felt much movement today. These days, LO pretty much moves around all day long so it is odd for her to go very long without moving. My gut feeling was that everything was fine, but I was also worried because I've been feeling a little off (most likely due to low BP) and it wasn't like her to be quiet for so long. I drank some ice water and laid on my left side... nothing. I drank some cold, sugary soda... nothing. Then, at the 45 minute mark having maybe felt 2 faint movements, I got a scoop of ice cream smothered in chocolate sauce (remembering that she almost always has a dance party when I have chocolate), and she went crazytown. I imagine she was like "ice water? lame! zzzzzzzz. soda? lame... zzzzzzz. Ice cream with chocolate syrup?! HECK YES I WILL WAKE UP FOR THAT!!"
I hate furniture shopping. We had a garage sale today to get rid of furniture from the nursery/guest room...so that it can become a nursery/guest room and to get rid of stuff I'd been keeping in storage from teaching. We made a decent amount, but nothing crazy. We now need another dresser for either kid's room (we could move the one in DS's room with the crib we're moving, or get a new one...both just need to be able to be used as changing tables too). I don't want to spend more than $200 on it, because that just seems like so much money! Why are dressers so damn expensive?!?

$149! ;-) We bought this dresser in "white stain" to fit in our small nursery and double as a changing table. I was actually surprised how sturdy it feels and how spacious the drawers are given how small and cheap it is!

I was going to suggest IKEA as well. I have my eye on this one that is the same price but a bit bigger.
It's made of solid wood but it's untreated so it can easily be painted/oiled/lacquered to match other furniture or make it a fun colored statement piece.

How funny, we just got this exact dresser for the nursery in white stain
I not only survived my family baby shower today but my mom and I did it without one incident. Not one single fight or blow. We just... Enjoyed each other and the rest of the families. And then after everyone left we.... Talked. Like grown ups. No, it wasn't perfect and we definitely are not on the same page but still...
I've waited at least 7 years for this. Feeling grateful!
I'm having a major body image crisis that I'm even annoyed with myself about having. I was totally blase' about the fresh crop of stretch marks I sprouted in the last week, since they just match the old ones I had from puberty, but I also discovered some newfound backfat and chubby lady wings and extra fat "folds" on the sides of my bump that literally sent me into tears. I've always had trouble with my weight, and now with hormones making my emotions go haywire, I'm convinced all this extra weight is never, ever coming off.

We do have Ikea and I should go look there. I'm worried that 3 drawer one isn't big enough because there would be no where to store wipes/creams/etc on top with the changing pad. I worry that that untreated one wouldn't fit the changing pad on top width wise. I need to measure the changing pad. I don't mind the idea of staining it myself though

Thanks for letting me put that out there, ladies.
I saw an article on FB yesterday that I didn't get the chance to read, but it was about how for every woman bemoaning things like stretch marks is a woman who longs for the chance to have them. I will keep looking for it, but in the meantime here is another one. I totally get body issues...I've battled them since I was 12...but hopefully this will help you feel better

I did yesterday as well. It took a little extra this time because DS had to be moved from the middle to the side and his seat is an absolute PITA to install. The DVD players had to be rearranged a tad as well with the new seating arrangement.
It definitely feels really early to be doing, but I literally installed my car seat and packed my hospital bags the day before going to the hospital with DS … at 32 weeks! It felt really early to be doing last time, but it just goes to show that you need to be prepared. I'm sure I'll be lucky enough to pass 40wks this time, but I would still rather be prepared than leave it all on DH at last minute.
DH is so adorable. He spend a good 20 minutes last night talking to my belly, trying to get baby boy to stop attacking my ribs. He would say "Okay, party's over" and "I know you want to come out, and your mom wants her body back, but you need to wait at least another 4 weeks. Do you think you can do that?" Then DH started asking him nicely in Portuguese and little guy calmed down within a matter of seconds. Haha! It was amazing.

I was just at Ikea yesterday and they even carry furniture paints/stains now, just an FYI. And I don't know if you would be up for this, but you could always pick something that isn't meant to be a dresser that still provides able storage (like a media table or buffet). You can use bins and baskets instead of drawers. Just suggesting an alternative Happy shopping and I hope you find something soon!!
My sister has decided her move out of my house date will be July 1st. This is drastically different than the middle of August date she was planning. I am so excited to decorate my nursery!!! (she is living in my nursery)
We went out to rune errands today. On the list: return a baby gate that isn't going to work for us, look/get a dresser, look/get a new tv, look/get a new printer, look/get an external hard drive, look at swing sets/play sets for DS. What did we come home with? A new baby proof lock for the liquor cabinet because DH has trouble with the one we currently have on it and struggles to get into it himself.
@jensavicci I didn't see an update, so forgive me if I missed it, but I'm thinking about you & your get together this weekend! Hoping all goes well! Are you having it tomorrow? Are you having those lemon squares?
Yup! The party is happening now! I'm just peeking in and out every time I need to sit down and take a break (which I'm sure you can imagine is very often lol). No lemon squares but, I did manage get a lemon raspberry cake. Still pretty good I think! I took pics before company came (and it still looked nice lol) so, I'll share those once I've eaten and things have settled down a bit.

Yum! Lemon raspberry cake sounds delicious! Glad to hear it went well! Loved the pics!! Would love to attend your parties!!

I have died every day waiting for you. Darling, don't be afraid, I have loved you for a thousand years. And all along I believed I would find you, time has brought your heart to me. I have loved you for a thousand years. I'll love you a thousand more.
Today I cried in a Jo Ann Fabric store. I think this is a low point.
Just got back from seeing Godzilla and almost cried at a part that I shouldn't have. I felt ridiculous.
Oooh, what part?
I don't want to ruin the movie but since you asked, it is when the girl monster's eggs get lit on fire and she makes this loud roar/cry noise. I felt so bad for her.
Adorable child moment that I have to share: A student's mom brought him lunch, and she also brought along his little sister. She's not quite two and has curly blonde hair, and she sat there with the biggest smile on her face, just watching all the children in the cafeteria and chomping on her lunch. Her mom pulled her out of her high chair and she took off to follow her big brother, and she was wearing those shoes that make a little squeak with every step she takes! It was the cutest thing ever and I just melted in to a puddle of almost-momness. Can't handle it!!

I am currently sitting in a towel, taking a break from shaving my bikini area. I haven't done it since... oh... March? It was starting to look like a really terrible 70s porno down there. (And by starting to I mean IT ALREADY DID.)
I'm exhausted. I've been at it for about thirty minutes, but I'm almost done. I had to prop up my magnifying make-up mirror on the toilet and use the sink to rinse off my razor, etc.
Just so anyone's curious... staring at your vagina, thighs and belly in a magnifying, lighted mirror at 30 weeks pregnant is not something I would suggest. Lo, my body is a wonderland.
(And DH better be ecstatic when he comes home from work.)
