@MrsStanton87 We both have given her a bottle, and I use Tommee Tippee bottles. She got kind of choked on it the first time, but I'm thinking it was because she was younger and wasn't used to it. The 3 times after that she didn't have any problems at all. My pedi doesn't believe nipple confusion is a real issue. I don't know how much I trust that, but she didn't have any problems when I would breastfeed her after a bottle. Logically I would think if you consistently give baby bottles and then for whatever reason switch back to BFing then that may cause nipple confusion, but I wouldn't think a bottle every once in a while would be confusing.

All this beer talk makes me want to go to the beer bash my parents town is having this weekend. Unfortunately it cost $35 and I'm not a big enough beer fan to justify the cost. It is literally 2 blocks from my parents house, I could walk.
@celticlullaby thanks for the info! I'm planning on talking to his dr on Friday about a speech evaluation. Luckily we are tricare standard so we have a lot of flexibility on where we go.
There's a house around the corner for sale and we are actually considering buying it. So tired of renting and this is our dream first neighborhood. Going to go to a lender on Tuesday to see if it's even a possibility! :-SS
Got home from the gym and DH ad LO are fast asleep upstairs, I pumped 5oz which is a personal best for me so far, we have a date night tonight and our sitter is a pedi so I have zero anxiety about it.. Today might be the best day ever! <:-P

I'm an SLP. In my opinion, boys' language skills develop at a slightly slower rate than girls at that age because of the toys/things they're exposed to (eg, they're developing fine motor skills with play tools, locks, trucks, etc and that takes away space from language development whereas girls' play is more describing and role playing/creating). Kids start putting 2 words together by age 2 so he's on track there. If I recall, you recently moved? Kiddos can also lose words or limit words used during moves, etc only to have a language explosion a month later. All that being said, it never hurts to get an eval and do therapy, just because language therapy is fun at that age and doesn't hurt them in any way.
So I feel like the world's biggest ass right now. I made the worst faux pas imaginable today...
DH and I went to lunch then to Carter's. I've never been, and so I was going absolutely nuts, picking through and oohing over all the adorable clothes, running around like a lunatic looking at everyone's little babies, scoping all the pregnant bellies (hormones were in overdrive)... In my defense, I haven't been out of the house in a while...
Then I did it. I was putting back some onesies DH said no to, and the lady next to me had a very round belly, so, damn word diarrhea, I blurted out 'how far along are you?' She replied 'I've already had him.' OH MY GAWD DID I REALLY JUST DO THAT??!!! I immediately felt HORRIBLE. Why on earth did I ask?? I should know better. She sweetly laughed it off, but dear lord, I wanted to crawl away and hide.
It's things like that that will haunt me forever.
Oh, and PSA, Everything at Carter's is 50% off. I'm sitting on the sofa feeding LO, surrounded by piles of 'loot'.
This baby keeps attacking me like a leech on steroids... I have two painful hickeys on random spots on my chest from her trying to latch there. Makes me realize how tough my nips must be by now because I'm unphased by nursing.
LO has a dark raspberry on his arm from where he sucks on it when I take him off the boob and try burping him mid feed.

Thanks! Yes, we just moved in with my parents and DH isn't with us. My poor little guy has gone through so many moves and changes in his 2 years of life.
Oh la la...8 weeks pp and we were finally brave enough to attempt a little afternoon delight. Not bad, but boy things sure don't feel like they used to!
Went for my first jog since being cleared. DH stayed home and gave M a bath. I came home to a shrieking baby and a confused husband who thought I'd told him the baby liked hot baths. *facepalm* Fortunately they'd just started, so mommy swooped in to save the day and baby is now clean and burbling happily on his piano mat.
Of course the 3 day weekend to kick off summer arrives, and so does the typical Malibu June Gloom weather. I bought a nautical Boob Design summer dress and was so excited to have something to wear to our barbeque Monday that felt like real clothes, not loungewear, and it's cold and shitty out.
On top of the weather and being completly sleep deprived from a cluster feeding night, it was a terrible idea to watch the youtube video the UCSB shooter posted hours before his rampage. I'm feeling regretful and completely and utterly depressed.
How's everyone else's holiday weekend going? Better than mine, I hope.
Dear lord there are some stupid questions floating around our BMB. Fortunately someone always chimes in to answer the questions before I have a chance to say something rude. ETA: I mean, come on. You need advice on what to do when you think your kid's diaper is too small?!?! Upsize that shit. What the hell else would you do?

I don't know how many of you have seen the coverage of the shooting rampage at Isla Vista in Santa Barbara CA at UCSB. They're starting to identify the victims and I just found out I work with the father of one of the victims killed. Please pray for him and all of the victims and their families. 6 killed (7 including the shooter) and 7 in the hospital.

I'm sorry to hear that. Thoughts and prayers to him and his family. So sad.
Jesus Christ. Daniel screamed for three hours. Almost nonstop. Nothing I did helped and I tried it all. That was a rough evening. He's lucky he's so cute.

I feel you. I've just gone through a lengthy stretch of purple in the face screaming too. Not three hours though. I'd definitely need some bourbon after an evening like that.
I was about to find a doorstep to leave him in a basket on. (
A pet is a privalage not a right. Don't get one if you're not prepared for the financial aspect of pet ownership.
I'm biting my tongue over DHs friend who complains about the costs of vet care, then decided it was a good idea to get a 2nd dog and is now complaining about that dogs vet care!
Vets don't get govt subsidies and don't get paid through insurance.
Don't get a pet if you don't want to spend money on said pet ever!

My friend had a fund me online fundraiser begging for money for his dog's routine vet bills. I had the same thoughts as you.
@purespark Pet insurance is great to have. Especially for emergency situations or unplanned surgeries. My aunt has it because she has dachshunds who are prone to disc problems. It's come in handy for a couple of her dogs now. I know I wouldn't have the money out of pocket for that kind of surgery.
@Sisimama10 that's amazing.., I wonder if people donated to his fund...
I think what bothers me the most is this guy doesn't value veterinary medicine. Its just a dog it shouldn't cost that much for a dental. He acts like vets are out to rip him off. He wants services for free or next to nothing.
The restaurant we are at (I am at a bachelorette party) can't accommodate my pumping, so I am across the street sitting on a bathroom floor with my pump plugged in in the hallway....
Re: Longest Thread EVER! (aka Random Thoughts Thread )
My DHs friends all brew so we usually have beer.
First time I'm missing my A cups!
@Vinny424 and @SLSchuerg I wish I didn't love beer-----so many empty calories. If only I liked martinis...Straight up vodka and vermouth.
Thanks! Yes, we just moved in with my parents and DH isn't with us. My poor little guy has gone through so many moves and changes in his 2 years of life.
I feel nervous like it's our first date :x
Heyyyyy also..
IM DRUNK BUMPING!!!!
Woohhoooo! Dirty martinis!!
Don't worry I have the alcohol strips I'll dump if necessary.. I know there are some squares up in here

Fell down holding her yesterday and then bent over really fast to grab my friends dog who was chasing my cat.
I didn't drop or hit her on anything but I'm afraid I gave her whiplash.
She's nursing and doesn't seem painful. Moving around fine for a 4 week old...
She seems sleepy though and has had a few less diapers today...
That is so sad. What possesses people to take lives like this...
T&Ps for those in the hospital and for the families effected by this
