My grandma told me that when she told one of my cousins, she said, "How did THAT happen?"

I get it, I went through a year of fertility treatments with no luck and I'm 38, so I can see how she may think I'm infertile. Even I was starting to believe I was infertile, but STILL....what a comment.

I feel like its so old fashioned that a woman should hide her pregnancy as if it is shameful, and then should something unfortunate happen, have to deal with it in solitude without support.

On the flip side, I've had to "un-tell" a lot of people when my MMC occurred and it sucked. We still haven't told anyone outside of close family and friends, but the ones who know are people I need support from regardless the outcome.

I haven't told my mom because shes too negative she probably say why you don't need anymore kids she says this like she helped financially Or ever baby sat. I'm sure she knows now but she didn't here it from me, the crazy part is that I don't talk to her and she's the first person to call me to tell me that my grandfather just passed and said nothing to me about my pregnancy.

My father in law said "I guess DH hasn't been TOO busy at work" and "how does that work exactly when you co-sleep with your kid? Did you go in another room?" I was mortified.

Dang @tylerkingrn‌ that is pretty mortifying. Not to be a rude asshole, but bc I am considering a side-sleeper or even co-sleeping for a while. Does it affect the sex life greatly? That's DHs major hang up.

I have a cute story from when I was pregnant with DS. We went out for dinner with my brother, SIL and my niece to tell them the news. My niece was 4 at the time, and I told her I wanted to tell her something so I whispered in her ear "Aunty has a baby in her belly". She looked at me kind of confused, went back over and sat between her mom and dad for a while, looking at me confused and then whispered really quietly to her mom "I have a question". My SIL is like "okay honey, what's your question?" and she blurts out really loud "Aunty how did the baby get in your belly????"

It was super adorable, and my brother and SIL were like "whaaaattt!!!" We couldn't have planned it better.

My nephews have given me some funny comments. One (9 years old) requested a girl because he already has 2 boy cousins. "Aunt MissNachoLover, can you make sure your baby is a GIRL?" Haha.

The other one, 6 years old, asked me to make sure there is only one baby in there because "two babies at one time sounds like A LOT of work."

So cute.

"HEATHER!!! No that's great, congrats!....awww, but you just got so skinny again, too!!"

...I had a baby Jan 13 and got to super skinny status from nursing for 14 months. Not the reaction I was looking for. She also took it upon herself to send a schoolwide email to all staff announcing my pregnancy when I said I was not making a big announcement.

I had someone I barely know today ask me how far along I was and I said 14 weeks. She then said "Damn are you sure it's not twins? That's kind of big for 14 weeks." Ugh! Everyone carries differently but thanks so much for the input!

Not a birth announcement per se, but when I mentioned that we were trying for our second child MIL's ex-boyfriend said he felt bad for DH b/c he will be tied down.

Ummm, WTF? Because having one kid isn't having too much commitment but two, then the world's over?

I ended the conversation there.

We have a tense relationship.

DH's 29, I'm 27, been together for 6 years, married 2 and there has been zero love from MIL along the way, guess our baby won't be getting any either.

Announced to my folks and DH's brother and wife this weekend! From SIL got our first "was it planned?" (no, after being married for 10 years and together for 16.)

From my mother, with whom I am NOT close at all, "When do I get to throw MY shower?" and "If the OB tells you you can't fly after 33 weeks or so, maybe you could just drive to visit us before you give birth!" (it's a 20 hour drive, Mom. Not going to happen.)

We haven't announced yet, but there are rumors going around at my place of work. Someone is announcing that I have a baby bump. I'm only 12 weeks & I'm not showing yet. I just wish people would mind their own business. It doesn't concern them, so why do they feel the need to spread rumors & gossip? She's not wrong, but she needs to keep it to herself instead of announcing it to others like she knows.

Another coworker: "Was it planned?" (Yes) "Are you happy?" (No, I just wanted to get pregnant for an exercise in masochism...of course I'm happy, if I wanted it!)

Dad "About damn time. I wasn't sure if your husband was up to the task" (all kinds of WTF!)

Brother "So you're due around the same time that Weston (my nephew) was due, that means....ughhhhh gross! Nevermind!"

She knew I was having issues with my birth control because it seriously messed me up. They had a blow by blow, they knew about our troubles. It really pissed me off and hurt my feeling. I can't help what my body does.

So I know this thread's been snoozing for over a week, but I have a funny one.

DH called his friend to tell him we are expecting. Friend says congrats and then asks if we are going to have the baby up in Delaware (Where we're from). DH was like, "uhhhh, no, we live in NC and MissNachoLover's docs and stuff are down here."

I really think our friends and family haven't accepted that we moved and aren't coming back. It's been 5 years, folks!!!

My SIL is the worst in general. When we announced to she and my brother, she made a disgusted sort of sound and said something touching like, "I knew it." Long pause. "So, when are you due?" When we told her our due date and then told her that it was twins, her mouth dropped open and she said, "Greeeeeat. That sounds like it will be miserable."

I love her...really. Not at all.
