Why has everyone I know decided you don't get food for a second baby? I'm seriously missing all the food people brought by after DS1. I'm not asking for the presents and diapers and all the rest of the stuff people brought back then - but damnit, I want some lasagna and casseroles!
I should have made DH grocery shop before he went back to work.
I'm totally bitter about the same thing. I'm sure it's because this is my third and I don't eat meat which makes people feel totally helpless. And no gifts, or showers, and being annoyed by this makes me a sucky person. I'd just like a little attention, dammit! Pizza rolls for me!

Dafuq?! That sucks we had meals brought in the first week and a half from church.
In all fairness, we haven't had a lot of visitors yet because we got sick, but family has brought nothing so far! Hmm...how wrong is it to tell friends they can come over now just with the hope they bring dinner? : P
Tornado warnings and watches today plus home alone with my two small boys, my stress and anxiety is through the roof. I lived in Tuscaloosa in 2011 when a massive tornado came right through the middle of the town and destroyed everything. Tornados stress me out now.
We have had like 5 visitors so far the loosest we have had to food is chocolate....I don't need your late baby gift seeing as I've already bought everything.. Give me all the food!

@Tferr02 we lived in Montgomery during that time and it was scary then. I live just a little bit north of Moore now. I know how scary severe weather can be. Please be careful and keep checking in with us so we know you are ok!
@dani+california we have the Avent newborn bottles too and Penny just guzzles down her feedings in the bottle. To the extent that I stopped using the bottle altogether. She was puking up what seemed like her whole feeding after using the bottle so I've been sticking to the boob for now. I don't know if she's too young for the bottle or what. I have a follow up phone call from the community nurse today so I'm going to ask about bottles then.
"You need to be up walking around."
"You need to be sleeping more."
"You need to be pumping after every time you feed."
"Feed him every 3 hours. But don't wake him up to feed. But feed every 3 hours. But do what you think is best."
ETA: "We are concerned about your weight, blood pressure, and every decision you've ever made about your health."
All day. Every day. What the hell do they think I'm doing all day?!?
I love 90% of my nurses here. The other 10% can suck an egg.
Totally this. There was one nurse in my hospital that treated SO like a 5 year old child. "Now, the diaper goes on THIS way." "Hold the baby like THIS." "I don't want to see you falling asleep with the baby in your arms." SO was ready to punch her. The night nurse, on the other hand, was an angel. I was all, "Can we take you home with us? Er, that sounded bad. To help with the baby, I mean!"
Today isn't as good as yesterday. Dylan is great but I feel lonely and sad. Here's hoping tomorrow is better. Is it bad that I just want him to sleep so I'm not a sad annoying mommy?
Q: How long should an appropriate visit at the hospital with your 4 day old grandson, your exhausted son, and his wife who is recovering from surgery be?
A: 20 minutes or less, because you live 10 min away. Assholes.
My in-laws stayed over an hour. DS slept the whole time, DH did too, so I was stuck in awkward conversation filled with "of course you're tired, a child changes your life, well when I had a c section 24 years ago, why is he still sleeping?" All the while my boobs were aching because DS hardly nursed before they got here and I needed to pump PLUS I had to go late to get my pain meds (have to walk to l&d to get them still) because I kept expecting them to leave. They are not welcome back for the duration of our stay. [-X

You should have asked them to come back later then. Our families are from farther away so they stayed for several hours in the hospital (and I expect the same this time).
Oh I wish. They pestered us all morning to give them a time to come this afternoon. I was like uhhhh how am I supposed to know?! I appreciate that DH is equally irritated by his parents as I am. The least they could have done is brought me cake. Or ice cream. Or pie.... They could have earned an extra 10 min per treat they brought me. Hmmm I may need to set that as a general standard for all visitors... 5 minutes for free, each additional 10 minutes costs a treat.

Anyone's baby's gas have a smell strongly of sulfur? I remember it being pretty odorless with DS and DD can clear a room when she passes gas right now. Her poops also have a smell of sulfur but not as bad. She's had like 3 or 4 meconium poops so far and my milk isn't in yet. I'm going to ask in stupid questions but thought I'd run it by RTT first!

I know I'm probably crazy but i thought it was so strange since its definitely not the norm and I've heard it can be a sign of gastric infection. Then again it's switching to transitional poop so maybe she is just learning how to digest my almost milk!

I feel your pain... I hemorrhaged really bad after delivering. I was hooked up to fluids, oxytocin to keep my uterus contracting and a catheter that kept my bladder empty for 18 hours. Needless to say, I was not interested in visitors. My husband called his sisters to tell them no visitors and the one had a meltdown that we didn't love her and her kids blah blah blah. So a whole 8 hours after giving birth there were 8 of my inlaws surrounding me for an hour. I was literally naked on the bed with a blanket on me. They are just idiots sometimes. I was such a mess.
First day home from the hospital. I miss my nurses! (
They were so helpful and I'd have the same one for a whole 12 hour stretch so it was really nice.
I'm afraid Madeleine's too cold, I can't swaddle her because my swaddleds are too big or too small, I'm afraid her clothes are going to smother her. Everytime I finish feeding and try to swaddle or cloth her she gets upset and wants to eat again, and I suck at swaddling so she breaks free.
So one of my brother's buddies that I am friends with on FB names his newborn baby girl Daenerys...seriously dude? I love GOT and I am one of the biggest LOTR fans on the planet but I am not planning on naming my next kid Pippin. You are pigeon holing your poor kid for the rest of her life. When she is older everyone she meets will either mispronounce or misspell her name and then joke "I bet your parents were huge Game of Thornes fans...he he he he". I thought he was kidding when he posted her FB birth announcement, but alas no. They are calling her Dany. Sigh :-??
My mom is winning the treats = time game. She brought me 5 dozen cadbury eggs! A 48 count case of the original kind and then 3, 4-count boxes of caramel and chocolate creame ones. She is getting all the snuggle time now.
My mom cleaned my house while I was at the hospital but she ate almost my entire stash of Cadbury mini eggs
Personally, I wouldn't worry about it @nikki912.
More uncomfortable cramping/contractions tonight. I really hope I can get some sleep tonight. And I REALLY hope I don't go into labor tonight/tomorrow because the dr on call and I REALLY don't mesh.
I totally get this. The on-call when I went in for my 1st false alarm had the shortest fingers EVER! It's like she was digging around forever trying to check my cervix and it was super painful, which was never an issue with my OB. When I went into L&D the 2nd time, DH almost busted up laughing when Dr. Stubby Fingers walked in the room. I wanted to die.
Oh yes. Me too. Already cracked and bleeding. I figured since I'd done this before I could get a good latch quickly. Nope, the little stinker won't open big enough and is a velociraptor at the boob.

Good God. Left DH in charge while Penny was sleeping in her swing so I could go to bed. He brought her up to her bassinet and she was immediately fussy.... He put her down without checking her diaper. Major poopslosion that went all the way up the front and out of her diaper poor kid.
@nicole mackenzie We've been using the A&A swaddles and they're huge. Just for them down smaller until they're a size you like. I actually like that they're so big, because our swaddling attempts with smaller blankets sucked. With these we can wrap wrap wrap and tuck tuck tuck and she's snug. Play around with it, we ended up using a swaddle technique I hadn't seen before but it works for us. Or switch to the woombies or a swaddle with Velcro. Josie doesn't like anything but blankets so far, but I know a lot of ladies on here have babies who only like the tight zipper swaddles.

Hi RTT! Finally caught up. I've been trying for days! Hooray for all the babies!
Lullabies totally work on my daughter, and I am a big pile of mush right now after singing "Rainbow Connection" to her and watching her drift off. Singing her to sleep is my new favorite!

I do have a swaddle me as well as the blankets. I must be too tired to get her in it right, lol
With the blankets I think I don't do it tight enough.... But I feel like I'm strangling her or man handling her to keep her still. She's also quite the Houdini, even the nurses double swaddled her.
She loves her hands! And wants them in her face at all times, especially when I'm trying to nurse.
I'll try again . Thanks for the suggestions.
Is it normal for a 3 day old to be able to roll onto her side? Or is something wrong with my pack n play? I tried pointing her in different directions.

Amelia has been rolling to her side since pretty much day one. She is also quite the fan of her hands being all up in her grill. It was a part of the struggle with trying to nurse at first, now it is a struggle with everything! Chill with the hands kiddo!
I accidentally woke up an hour before I was supposed to pump because I heard LO crying during a diaper change. Did I go back to bed? Fuck no--LO is now fed, changed, and asleep, so I decided to "pump while the sun shines" and buy myself a ticket to a 5:30AM alarm instead. Just call me the Pumping Ninja!
We have Tommy's neuro appointment tomorrow. I'm soooo nervous and have no idea what to expect.
Why does he need this?
Well, if you'd been around more and/or paid attention to my posts or even my siggy, you'd know my son has been diagnosed with three neurological conditions (two in the womb and one upon delivery)...hence the referral to a pediatric neurologist.
Ouch. That was kinda mean. I know you're nervous about tomorrow. Some people mainly/only mobile bump (myself included) so siggies aren't seen and not everybody has been participating on the board or thread since it first started. In other words it's very possible and likely that @PoppySeedWindsor jumped in after the diagnosis.

I also forgot to start with the right side twice and woke up with it so rock hard! Didn't realize that could happen to just one side.
