Re: Longest Thread EVER! (aka Random Thoughts Thread )

  • Im just bitching. Baby won't stay awake long enough to eat. My supply is good and is latch is working but after five minutes he falls asleep and won't wake up again. He also will sleep for hours without eating. I'm getting so nervous that he won't gain and that his poops are too green and not that fatty yellow color. I think I'm going to have to forgo pain meds and just kind of power through and hope that helps.
LO does this. I have to do breast compressions, squeeze his shoulders, tickle his feet, change his diaper and switch boobs, rub his hands...very annoying. Our nursing sessions take anywhere from an hour to 2 1/2 hours. Maybe try any of those? Hope your night gets better.
Aww your a nice mummy. Today I tried ice water.
Nice, I should try that. I blow cold air on him sometimes, heh. Oh the joys.
I tried a frozen teething ring and Aiden just shrugged it off like it was NBD. He's a stubborn boy, that's for sure!

  • DD is usually super sleepy for feedings, but we manage to get through them. Tonight, however, we are having the opposite issue. She has been very awake and hungry, but she won't latch and them starts screaming. Once she's calm, if I switch sides, she will latch for a while, but then she'll wiggle or push off, break the latch, and start screaming trying to relatch, but she won't. It might be a very long night, and I'm so sleepy

  • Party time at my house!! Little girl is in a feeding frenzy! FX it knocks her right out when she's done....

  • I feel so horrible. Dylan was crying because he was hungry and idk how long it took me to wake and fed him. I was dreaming about getting a plate of food from the cafeteria on campus and in the dram he was crying and it was frustrating. I feel like rthe world's worst mommy.
  • I really wanted to go to the NICU every 3 hours to feed Asher, but at our 11pm feeding it became very apparent that I wasn't up for the task. I have nothing against formula, but they made Asher supplement with it day 1 because they were worried about blood sugar (which in our case was total BS but I don't want to go there right now) and he HATED it. Trying to pump enough to keep him fed but they want him eating more than I'm ready to produce, especially considering day 2 they didn't allow me to feed him and no one even mentioned pumping. Anyway, pumping now so DH can go feed him in a bit since I just can't. And I've already decided that pumping sucks. Snaps to those who exclusively pump!!! I couldn't do it.

  • Ugh I'm also hating pumping. I don't think my boobs like it either. If Penny is feeding then I produce more then enough but if I pump it takes like 30 min for 2-3 oz. I just don't have the time/energy to do that when I could put her on the boob.

I didn't look at my stitches until a couple weeks in. Wasn't so bad at that point.

DH has been behaving like an ass 90% of the time since we came home from the hospital, which was four weeks ago. It's like he's reverted to his early twenties DGAF days. Anyone else have this experience? Please tell me this isn't permanent.

We are almost 4 weeks out and my stepdaughter is still pushing the limits. She's nonchalantly defiant. And pissing me off daily. So you are not alone. I sure hope it isn't permanent!!
Ah!!!! This exactly this. My DSD is the same way and when I say something to her, DH thinks I'm just overtired. Umm hello!!!! Support me. She's being a little stink all the time and engaging in behaviors she wouldn't have ever done. DH notices sometimes, but seems like he's got his blinders on.

Guess who just slept through the night? George just slept from 9:15pm-5:40am and it was amazing!! And it was done on breast milk, not formula. I know it was a total fluke, but I feel human again.

    Holy shit, that is awesome!

  • Aiden slept from 10:30 to 2:30 and then wouldn't sleep until 5:00. He's a rotten little tease... @-)

Last night DH grabbed a snack when I was starting to fall asleep. After about 5 minutes...
Him: **crunch crunch munch munch crunch**
Me: dear heavens, did you order both the largest and loudest snack they had available?!?
    Him: huh? Chips and sandwich.
Me: with a side of ROCKS?!
    Both: **burst out laughing**
    Me: **gasp yelp** OWWWW
OK no more jokes until this incision is healed.
him: apparently laughter ISN'T the best medicine
    Me: **more yelping** stoppppppp!!!!!

Despite the actual, physical pain, it was nice to have a reason to laugh with him. :)

I'm glad you guys had a good and painful laugh together. It was the same way soon after my c-section. I had to beg my bf not to make me laugh which always made us laugh lol
  • Dani do you have a keruig? We just use that and a large mug 30 secs for water to heat 40-50 secs for bottle to hear and done

  • I'm seriously contemplating being "that mom" and taking Logan to the doctor because I'm afraid that some of the random jerky/rolling eye movements and leg twitching that Logan does is not completely normal. I just recorded it on my phone and I'm at least going to show it to his doc at his appointment next week. Its really stressing me out. DH thinks its fine...I just don't know.

I have no advice but I'm sorry for your worry. I saw your post some days ago about infant seizures and it prompted me to read up about them a little bit. Cy has had a couple episodes that I thought didn't look quite right, but am thinking now that they were actually REM sleep. I hope everything is okay with Logan.

Thanks. I just looked up REM sleep now and after watching a few videos, it could be just that....ugh, I dont know. I almost feel more paranoid this time around than I did with my other two. I'm pretty sure my loss last year has ruined my rational side. Anexity sucks. I think I'll wait and just mention it next week.

That's how I feel about my swaddling. Thank goodness for SwaddleMes.
Agreed! I can't swaddle unless they have snaps or velcro.

  • @jellysparkles‌ wow! I wouldn't go back to her.
My son never nurses for longer then 10 mins, we barely make it to 5! My son struggles more with a bottle because he has to work harder. My boobs literally shoot across the room, no effort needed here. More than 5 mins, he starts drowning and throws up.
  • I don't love how everyone says my baby is "huge". I mean, he was 9lbs 15oz at birth, but that's far from "huge". And he's not fat, just 21 1/2 in long. Doesn't help that his NICU roommate is 35w gestational age and 5lbs. I guess comparatively, he looks like a giant.

So annoying. I have the opposite problem. People are always saying Carter is the smallest baby they've ever seen. He was 5.13 and I carried him past term! How big do they think twins get? They make me feel so incompetent.

  • I know everything says babies are supposed to sleep in their backs, but LO slept so well partially because he was on his side, I think. DH thinks I'm horrible for letting him sleep on his side. WWA14 do?

My pedi said back-sleeping lowers risk of SIDS by 60% and side-sleeping lowers it by 50%. 10% doesn't seem like a lot to me if it means a well-rested baby. It's up to you!

I have the same but opposite issue! In so tired of people telling me Lucas is so small at 7 weeks. What the hell did they expect!? He was born at 35 weeks! He has lots of catching up to do!

    I feel your pain

  • I think people just have no idea what a newborn looks like. Cora was 7lb6oz at birth which I'd say is pretty "normal", and a couple people commented on how she was really small. Um, no, not particularly.
