So I left my pedi after the 9 month appointment and realized he never brought up weaning to WCM... I'm seriously not impressed with the pedi right now. He's a very nice guy, and I think he knows his stuff, but often seems very rushed. He did the whole checkup and didn't ever ask me if I had any questions!
Now I'm starting to stress about weaning a little bit. I feel like I can't relate to my bumpies on this topic since it's a different situation. I'm going to try not to worry about it just yet and assume DD will figure out this cup thing in the next 2 months.
@araziza, I definitely don't think you should stay with a pedi that you don't feel comfortable with. But, if it makes you feel any better, my LO's pedi didn't mention anything about weaning to WCM, and I think he rocks. I'm sure it will be a topic at her 12 month check up. I'm not going to worry about it, and neither should you. I'm sure there will be a ton of discussions posted about it. We got this, girl!
@Nix55 and @kames12 so DD will be starting daycare at 11.5 months so I need to cut out her midday nursing sessions by then. I would think is is a fairly common situation in Canada that is why I thought our doctor would bring it up at the 9 month appointment (her 12 month appointment will be 3 weeks after she starts daycare). @tttwalters (I can't remember which Canadian moms are going back to work at a year) have you had your 9 month appointment yet? Did your doctor bring it up?
@nix55 the thing is I am very comfortable with him, for the most part I think he is a good doctor. I'm just annoyed that he seems a little rushed didn't take the time to ask me if I had any questions. I don't know if I should go looking for another doc because of that.
@araziza, you can start a different thread for BTDT moms. They could probably give you some good advice. You could also try lurking the July and August boards. Hey, ask @missywashere. I bet they've started talking about it over there. GL. I will definitely be following since I have one of the older babies on the board.
ETA: You could ask call the office if you want the doctor's advice through the nurses or ask or schedule a follow up appointment. I'm not sure how your office works, but my ped's office has a nurse that will call back and answer questions. Next time bring a list of questions with you that you want to ask. I keep a running list on my phone. I just add things as I think of them and then ask at the next appt.
@araziza, we have our appt next week, but I plan on introducing wcm at 11 months for during the day and keeping the morning and evening nursing for a bit. This is what my friends have done and worked well for them.
It's the pedi my husband went to, my little SIL still goes to him. Most people in my area seems to use paediatricians. Do you use a family doc?
------------------ Stuck in the box! We use a family doc. I don't know anyone with a pedi!
I'm not going back to work, but I started ds1 on wcm around 11 months and he picked it up quickly! Have you tried the nuby sippy cups? They have a super soft spout and are the only ones ds2 can get liquid from right now. A bit messy though!

ya OHIP only allows people to use a pediatrician in special circumstances. However there is a huge shortage of dr's in my area and we only have 3 pediatricians that have to service a huge area. We use our family dr, I really like her, but we get about 5 minutes with her at our appointments.
@tttwalters and @Western Diva I think it depends on the area for the pediatrician vs. family doc thing. DH and I both grew up going to pediatricians, but a friend who lives an hour away had a family doc. Western diva: a friend of my also suggested Nuby I think I'm going to pick one up. I'm trying not to stress to much about it now, I don't plan on starting any transition until closer to 11 months (and I plan to continue nursing morning and evening for a couple months).

I do want to start a thread, but I figured I should wait until closer to when I'm actually weaning. So I stuck my random thought in here for now so I could clear my head and try not to worry about it right now
PSA: BRU/TRU has a text message coupon out right now, which isn't big news in and of itself since they do those all the time. However, this one is different because it has very few in-store exclusions, unlike most of their coupons.
I responded to the GTKY thread before I took a nap. I woke up and Ty was down for a nap and H went for a golf cart ride with Bradley. For a minute I thought I dreamt the past 3 years...
@subliminalrabbit that's sum bull shit. Are they offering comp time or a pay raise for these additional hours? I'm no legal expert, but even as a salaried employee I believe there is a limit to the hours you can be required to work.
Could you counter-offer with being able to work from home full time? I'm not saying that would be the best, but you would cut the commute time and be able to be home for dinner and such.
I understand the position you are in, financially, but the fact that they just went through a lay off and are treating existing employees like this doesn't bode well for the security of your future.
I feel like I could write about this all day, I am hot over this! I have a friend who is in employment law. I'm gonna have her look into California codes
@subliminalrabbit that makes me so angry for you. I hate hate hate office culture that requires "face time". It's so unnecessary to get work down and is a waste. Your boss sounds miserable to work for.
Such a hard situation. Here's what I think - if you are seriously considering doin your own thing soon, then give into their demands. Don't make a stink, just try to stay on good terms until you high tail it out of there. Hopefully you won't have to put up with it long and it'd probably be worth it to suck it up for a short time. If it's going to be longer, then decide where you have to put your foot down to make it work long term and do it. Be prepare though - if there are more layoffs you might be the first one to go. Totally not fair, but things will never get better there if their star employees don't fight for the flexibility they need.
But first and foremost, do what you and your family need. Don't feel bad about it and don't apologize.
@tiffletons518, in Canada our Girl guide cookies come in a box of half vanilla and half chocolate sandwhich cookies. The chocolate ones just aren't that great, but the vanilla ones are delicious. Anyway, if you were here I guess you could eat the chocolate ones. Also I am currently watching the Good wife!
At a wedding tonight. First time I've left DD for an entire evening including bed time. I miss her but looking forward to having a fun night. I want to PIP how great my hair looks but my phone doesn't like to PIP for TB.

@tttwalters Oooh. Ok. If I do sandwich cookies not chocolate, I like lemon flavor. Nom nom. Are you watching this season or past seasons. I started catching up on season 3 a few weeks ago and remembered very quickly why I loved it so much before.
@tiffletons518, I have kept up with it so I just finished watching the newest episode, I know was gets mad when we talk about shows in here so I won't say anymore!
