Ugh MIL drives me crazy. I am 37 weeks 5 days pregnant. MIL lives 10 hours away in AL and today she decides to ask when she can come visit our LO. A month ago we decided to go to AL 3 weeks after LO is born since no one in DH family had made plans to come here! So she wants to come before then? I'm so confused and don't even know what to say to her.
Do people from Boston really all have the Bostonian accent, or only some parts of it? I met an American girl once on a trip and we were dancing at a club. She kept telling me to do 'the bahddy roll' and I had no fucking clue what she was saying. Took me a solid 5 minutes to figure out she meant 'body roll'.
Between my 'eh?'s and her 'bahddy's I'm sure we made a sexy pair.
I'm not from Boston, but I'm from New England. People's accents tend to vary. Some people have super thick accents and others, not so much. I have an accent when I have a few drinks, but otherwise my accent isn't very thick. My Dad grew up in the North Shore area and his side of the family all have super thick accents....
Good morning ladies! I had to take a break in reading RTT to read the epic name thread. That was amazing!
My morning Randomness: I totally overdid it yesterday cleaning the room downstairs that will become DH and my new bedroom. The good news is, we got the carpet shampooed and we have my BIL set to come over and help DH move the furniture down.
I really want to take half the day off today to clean more. It is DH's birthday, so I'm thinking about making cupcakes for him too. Not sure I'm going to be able to do that, but it is the dream.
DS has been on such a "Mommy" kick lately that he has been throwing tantrums when DH goes to pick him up from daycare (4 days a week). I really don't want DH to go through that on his birthday, so I started talking it up from the moment we woke DS up. Daycare provider is going to help DS make DH a birthday care so that he has something to surprise Daddy with. She is going to be talking it up all day! Keeping my fingers crossed that it works. There are only so many times the poor guy can hear "I don't want you! I want Mommy!"

Yay, going to MI in July! Must go to Greektown and eat all the food!
I always went to this restaurant called Pegasus, just down the road - even as a little kid growing up! We'd go to Sesame Street Live at the Fox theater and go to Pegasus for dinner... Man was that a long time ago...
I was about to say I'm jealous when I realized I'll be back in the Mitten in July too (for a wedding)!
I was invited to a hometown reception for my cousin in the Mitten in August, but I don't know if I'll be up for traveling that far. I DO need to plan a trip back with LO to hit up my old favorites: Frankenmuth and Franklin's Cider Mill. Ahhhh memories!
It's rainy and like 40 something today, but I am having crazy hot flashes! My forehead gets sweaty and I get hot all over. So awkward. I feel like an old lady.
@Poru, sorry you are going through it too. I know it hurts DH's feelings. Yesterday he woke DS up from his nap when he picked him up from daycare, so he put him back down when they got home. When DS was awake and alert, he talked about how it made him feel to have DS say he didn't want him, then they hugged. They also work in the garage together, or play with legos together. They'll be alone together Friday night when I'm at a concert. I wonder if I can convince DH to take him somewhere fun.
@aviola329 That stinks that your son is "rejecting" you. I hope all of our boys grow out of this soon!

Today, went to the midwife, picked up our carseat, got some more stuff needed for the hospital and got a little hat to go with his little coming home outfit. :-)
So the baby name thread has me freaking out. I've never cared what other people thought of our choices but now I'm wondering if my kid will hate me. If its a boy we were going to go with a family name, Xavier- and call him Xav (pronounced zav). I know its not everyones style but is it mean to my potential son?!
Also should there be an E after Xav?

Xavier is a real name. Not a yoonique or drunken disaster. It's NMS but I think it'll be a good fit. No "e" after xav in my opinion though.
Wife to A; Mama to C (2009), N (2011), H (2014) & baby F due 09/16/16

Xavier is a real name. Its been around a long time. (Its also the name of the most famous harpist in the world.) I like it. May not be everyone's style, but, Bostyn is just a made up, misspelled mess!

Oh I know it's a real name. I just never thought about if it was a name that would make my kid feel like the bostyns and celtycs or any other strange names. Mostly b of our choice of nickname- which I haven't heard before

I think its a cute nickname. I never personally knew any Xavier's, so, maybe its not an uncommon nickname either? As for spelling...Xave makes more sense to me. Xav looks like Zav.
Xavier is a great name! A real one, not a skanky made up disaster. I know what you mean though, we picked the name Quinn for our daughter, and people either love it or hate it. But then I really started to pay attention and noticed that I don't really have strong opinions on other peoples baby names, and most people probably feel the same way about mine and yours. Way early in my pregnancy I ran it by the baby name board and they tore it to shreds, which is funny because they're over there talking about what bitches we are about Bostyn. Sooooo, it's just not worth the shits to be given what people think of your name.
@Ashleypixie I'm so surprised Quinn was shot down, I thought that was a pretty popular name? FWIW, I like it! Typically I don't care at all but for some reason lately I became worried that our nickname sounded too made up and our kid would be made fun of or something. I love it though!

Let's be fair-- Boston could be a real name for a kid. I think it's even MORE frustrating when parents take legit words only to try and force them to be unique. Like if you want to name your kid Brooklyn, don't call them Brooklynne. Call them Kevin, not Kheaven. Etc.

And seriously, who comes to a board and just says "HEY! Give me suggestions!" No guidelines even.
Yea, we're the bitches :-P Because a named child in utero is NOT the same as a named outside child. You can rip on babies when they aren't born yet. Its, like, a rule apparently.
@nikki912 not only is Xavier a real name but it's the name I desperately wanted as a boy middle name. My bf fought the name so hard. You and Xavier will be fine. At least you're not thinking Eggzavier.
I wouldn't worry about nicknames and spelling and all that. My sons name is Austin, and there's no nickname for that but we've all gotten into the habit of calling him Aus. And our daughter Avery, Ave. Other than justrightnow I've never had to spell either.

I haven't caught up yet, but I just wanted to stop by and say...
35/35!!!! <:-P
I'm really excited about this, but then I saw someone who has SIXTEEN days left. I'm going to freak out when I get into the teens... and then the single digits! AH!
February Siggy Challenge: Favorite TV couple ~ Jim & Pam
Back when I didn't realize both parents come up with the name, I wanted Preston Xavier for a boy or Madison Elise for a girl. My bf doesn't like either. Then I wanted Liam Oliver, he STILL didn't like it. We finally agreed on Dylan for a boy or Cadence for a girl. I love both names
I'm just waiting for the flags to start flying from the name post... bets on how many she doles out? Although, it seems her style is more cussing people out and ragey... that might explain the Bostyn name...
Haha but she can't!! Flags are currently broken and we have no idea when they will be fixed!
Although, I did warn her just a min ago...she probably will have herself banned by the end of the day.
@thomas930 - flags are broken?! This... feels like a challenge.

:-O Crazy!! If that's possible, maybe it's possible to freeze time for just a few moments until this all can sink in? Maybe? Can someone get on that?
