I know no one cares but me, but my dog is cracking me up. He keeps sitting perfectly upright in my lap with his paws on my leg, like he's sitting at a table waiting to be served. He's practicing being human.

And I'm not watching the Oscars either. Sherlock FTW!

@poru Yes!!!! The pants are yoga (not jeans) and the shirt is....washed. I don't have many maternity clothes! :P

Mine just came in from outside (we leave the door open for him) and stuck his tongue in snoring DHs mouth... good boy.

I am watching "This is 40" and it is so depressing.

While I admire you bearing the brunt of the emotional burden for your husband due to his workload, try to remember YOUR workload: you're creating a beautiful little life inside of you. Stress, anxiety and frustration do not bode well with pregnancy, so don't be afraid to lean on your husband if you're feeling overwhelmed, regardless of how busy he is.

You both need each other, be sure to do that. My thoughts are with you both!

I told a friend that I had a dream that we made chocolate covered strawberries together and I was mad at her for burning the chocolate.
Tonight I was supposed to go to a different friend's house to watch "frozen" but ironically everything is icy here and I didn't want to drive (even though it's 5 min away). So chocolate covered strawberry friend lives in the same apartment complex that we do and our DH's are buddies though she and I don't talk much. Tonight they invited us over for the first time as a couple and she specifically said she wanted us to make chocolate covered strawberries together. I felt safe walking (ice grippers on my shoes!) and, therefore, less bad about bailing on the other friend, so long story long, I had chocolate covered strawberries for dinner.

Yea, I immediately unfriend people, no matter who they are, that post that stuff. I also turn off status updates from people who post only political stuff. (Every so often is fine and normal I think). @ashleypixie I refuse to discuss politics at all with my parents. It would end in screaming matches as well!

I am so over waking up in the middle of the night and flopping around like a fish out of water just so I can switch sides. Why is it so hard to roll over?? My dog even groaned at me last night for waking her up while doing it. This is why DH and I haven't shared a room since November..

This is the week I was supposed to start working half days.
Got a text alert at 4:30 am saying schools are delayed 2 hours because of the ice storm that started yesterday morning. I've spent the last half hour emailing and texting staff and updating our FB and website to make sure everyone knows what's up (I manage a before and after school program in 10 elementary schools).
This day is about to get exciting.... :-q

Off to the dr to get checked out. I've started swelling this weekend and my blood pressure has been high for me. Not technically high because I normally have incredibly low blood pressure plus on heart medicine that controls my heart rate, but it also lowers blood pressure. I don't think anything is actually wrong, but better safe than sorry.

We had to tell our inlaws that if they wanted to visit, they were welcome, but no discussing politics or other controversial issues.

Apparently they thought that was unreasonable.

It will make things interesting when the baby comes.

Today is bollurdagur here. Basically, everyone eats very large cream puffs. I had two, both covered with chocolate and with lots of chocolate cream and raspberry jam in the middle. SO awesome.

We made peppermint bark together and then macaroons. That was 6 years ago! There wasn't alot of bumping overnight. I hope that means everyone slept well!

Its a polish food, but, I've seen them also served in bars in cities with many people of Polish descent at least. (Chicago, for one.)

That's what I need here as well. I tried looking up Indian restaurants and couldn't find any closer than one hour away. I was floored. Only one place I know of serves sushi and it's not even a full Japanese restaurant. Very unlike what I'm used to!

My sister called the other day to inform me that my mother thinks global warming is a hoax. She warned her that she needs to at least pretend to believe in science before visiting me if she wants to continue visiting her only grandchild.
We also blocked all 24hr news networks on our tv in preparation for her visit.
I love my mom, but she is crazy sometimes.

The worst is when people start talking politics or religion when there is alcohol involved. ARHG! I can't stand it.

My inlaws say things like "Anyone who does XYZ belongs in jail!" When they know that we do XYZ, and then are super confused when we point out that this is insulting. Then they say we're being unreasonable.

The only reason we're still talking to them at all is because I proof read and rewrite any email DH sends them. DH does not mince words! Honestly, I think it's gotten to the point where there is no salvaging this outside of professional counselling, which has about a snowball's chance in hell.

At least if we get through the next 9 months or so, we'll be moving back to the other side of the country.

My dad went into this whole thing yesterday about how the president is racist because he put a tax on tanning. And my mom honestly believes people from India are all Muslim. We try to avoid politics because these are the stupid things that actually come out of their mouths. And don't get them started on religion, I had a lengthy argument the other day with my mom about whether or not women actually had one extra rib. SHE WAS A TEACHER FOR 35 years.

I know weight is a touchy subject, but HOLY WEIGHT GAIN! I've gained more in 4 weeks than I've gained the rest of the pregnancy.

And @hlm184 we are the same way with DH family. They are crazy in their views. My DH doesn't do well around them so we limit time spent with them. I know they blame me for it when it's actually DH that never wants to be around them and I force him occasionally

Why is that so hard? I think you should set up a "politics" jar where if it is mentioned they have to put in a dollar

My mother once sent me a video about how they were trucking sewage out of Dubai. She ranted about how inept the middle east was and how they can't even handle their own poop properly. She thought it was because they are backwards and stuck in the middle ages of sewage treatment.

I was like 1) that is almost a decade old, 2) it was temporary because they are so prosperous in Dubai that the city is growing so fast they needed extra capacity while they built up the supporting infrastructure, 3) Dubai is f-ing amazing, they have up-hill water slides!

Never mind that sewage treatment is probably a difficult thing to manage in the middle of a desert. I'd say there's nothing backwards about a place like Dubai though!
