Does anyone else deal with acid reflux/heartburn only at nighttime? Like, I think I probably get it during my sleep and sleep through it most nights except for when I wake up to pee or something at just the right time. It's weird, but I guess if I'm going to have it, during my sleep would be the best time to deal with it!

Guys I can't handle all the people eating pierogie out of a box. I know I have said this before but I wish you could all come over for a pierogie party. My DH is polish and MIL makes the best homemade ones! It's really the only reason why I tolerate her....just kidding! (sorta)
I used to eat them out of a box and then I married into a partially Polish family.
Never again.
But real pierogies are such a pain in the ass to make!
Definitely one of those foods (like tamales) that are best to have an assembly line for.
Yeah I don't think it is terribly difficult. I just hate trying to get the consistency right when I live so close to the ocean. Same deal with pie dough.

Well, it is difficult when you have poor cooking/baking skills and just hate dough. I have a recipe for 5000000 pierogies and 15 in, i'm like "good enough" and toss the rest. I don't have any friends for an assembly line- thanks for reminding me! >:P

Yeah, for me it sometimes starts in the evening and lasts all night. I've never had it during the day.
Most of the time I like that DH works across the street from our house. It's nice to see him for lunch. Then snow/ice days like today happen but he still goes to work :-(
I have my last OB appointment tomorrow before I switch to midwives...I almost feel guilty, which is stupid because I know it makes no difference to her. I don't know how to tell her I'm not going to see her anymore...I'm thinking of chickening out and calling her receptionist the next day to say 'cancel all my appointments!' and run away. Hehe
I totally did that (just called the nurse/receptionist to cancel my appointment) when I made my most recent switch, and the nurse took this judgey tone with me about it! I didn't specifically say I was leaving because I didn't want the third degree, but when I said I wanted to cancel my appointment she said something like "Well are you planning on finding a new physician? Because we really need to know that if you are. You are 30-some weeks along and she is still considered responsible for you." What? I was under the impression that I could stop seeing a doctor whenever I pleased. Then she seriously asked me if I was still pregnant, all the while with this tone. I just said yes and that I would find another physician and hung up.
I called back about 20 minutes later to let them know I scheduled something with a new practice and then got grilled about making sure I had the new place request my records. I literally had one appointment with this practice ever. One. And I was planning on requesting that one record at my new OB anyway, so the whole thing was completely unnecessary. It was seriously 10x less stressful to cut ties with the OB I had been seeing for my entire pregnancy with DD and this whole pregnancy up to 28 weeks than it was to cut ties with a practice I saw a grand total of one time. It was ridiculous! And all I did with my first practice was just tell the receptionist "Actually, you don't need to schedule me for any more appointments. I'm moving out of the area and will be finding a new physician." She just asked me if I wanted to fill out a records request and wished me good luck!

@SLSchuerg my cousin is a midwife and I called her the other day to ask this question exactly! I wish I could have her delivery my baby but she delivers at a hospital an hour away from my house and I don't want to risk it when there's 2 excellent hospitals closer. But anyway she said after 6 pm try to limit any fluids especially water.. Try to get your water intake throughout the day. Also no eating/snacking after 7-8 pm. Try propping yourself with a pillow (I'm sure you do we all do lol) but the big thing is the fluids after 6 I used to chug water at night because that's when I'm sittin and watching tv or whatever and have time but it really helps I don't wake up with the reflux anymore. Hope you get some sleep soon!

That's crazy! I hope I don't get any attitude about it...if I do, I'll just say 'your tone is why I'm leaving.' BOOM and then still run away. Haha
Dooo ittt! Just tell them your Plan B was a spontaneous back alley or roadside birth and you'll be going with that instead.

Yay my dr appt went great! No protein so I'm in the clear, just need to rest when I can. They said I still need to come into my regular appt on wed because it's the mandatory group B strep test. Any idea why I have to get this when I'm having a RCS? I didn't even think about it until I left. I never had one with my DS.
Well coming into work, the roads were fine but then I get to the parking lot and its a freaking ice rink! Was it too much to ask then if you were going to make us come in that you at least salt or sand the parking lot and walkways! I nearly slipped and fell! blah
also @thomas930 I have a pesky spam flag that's been bugging me, can you take care of it please?

I boil my pierogies and then sautée in butter to get them crispy. Ours are from frozen. I don't do onions cuz I'm lazy and won't eat them. I never got mine yesterday, so I think I'll go make some now.
Yep, I boil then sautee mine - in bacon fat if I had the presence of mind to start up bacon at the same time. =P~
I save my bacon fat. I throw a dab in when I cook green beans.
I thought I was the only one who saved my bacon fat mah girl.

Jim Butcher's Dresden Files is kind of a guilty pleasure of mine.
I love you, I love you, I love you! But why guilty pleasure? XD I forced DH to read the first book in the series, and after that he plowed through the rest of it on his own, and he generally doesn't like to read. In fact, he's rereading the series right now! :P We recommend that series to anyone who asks for book recs!

Huh! I never would've thought it had anything to do with fluids, but it makes sense since I usually drink a lot of water before bed. And when I wake up to acid reflux bothering me, I take small sips of water because it seems to help. lol Oops! Thanks for the tip.

True story, right out of college I worked for a company called Giorgio Foods. The owner and most of the higher ups are Polish. So of course one of the items we produced were pierogies. I was a QA manger and those things were such a pain in the ass to make and regulate. That's probably why I'm not a huge fan.

Woo hoo Iikey sexy time books!!
If you haven't already, try Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series. Vampires (though they're not called by that name, and they devour souls instead of blood), were-creatures (wolves, bears, panthers, etc.), all sorts of neat stuff. The first book is Fantasy Lover, technically, though the first book with any of the other stuff I mentioned is the one after that, Night Pleasures.

My dad went into this whole thing yesterday about how the president is racist because he put a tax on tanning. And my mom honestly believes people from India are all Muslim. We try to avoid politics because these are the stupid things that actually come out of their mouths. And don't get them started on religion, I had a lengthy argument the other day with my mom about whether or not women actually had one extra rib. SHE WAS A TEACHER FOR 35 years.
My mother once sent me a video about how they were trucking sewage out of Dubai. She ranted about how inept the middle east was and how they can't even handle their own poop properly. She thought it was because they are backwards and stuck in the middle ages of sewage treatment.
I was like 1) that is almost a decade old, 2) it was temporary because they are so prosperous in Dubai that the city is growing so fast they needed extra capacity while they built up the supporting infrastructure, 3) Dubai is f-ing amazing, they have up-hill water slides!
Never mind that sewage treatment is probably a difficult thing to manage in the middle of a desert. I'd say there's nothing backwards about a place like Dubai though!
Well, besides their treatment of women and their treatment of the workers they bring in to build all the fancy things for them. All countries have their demons!
Meijer was having a sale (plus coupon) on frozen pierogies so I bought 3 boxes for 4 dollars. I did this in honor of A14, as I have never eaten pierogies before.
