@ashleypixie I need your professional guidance as a hair stylist.
My broke unemployed ass needs a haircut, so I went onto CL and searched for "free haircuts", and answered an ad to be a training model for a newly licensed stylist needing to add to his portfolio/something about hours at this salon he works at now (?). The haircut he is planning to practice on me with is ADORABLE and the exact cut that I want anyway - and an educator will be there to make sure everything is perfect before I leave, so why not take advantage of the free cut, right?!
My question to you is this: in this type of situation, is a tip still expected/appreciated? Or because it's an educational experience, is it not necessary to provide a tip? I'd hate to show up, get through it, and piss the dude off cause I didn't bring any cash with me... So WWAPD? Do you expect a tip when you perform a practice cut on a model?
If this is at a school or salon class, clients usually leave $5 or $10 for a haircut but not always. It's not expected but it's definitely appreciated! And it sounds like he's really taking the initiative with his own education which is admirable! If you really like your hair and are willing to model for him in the future, he may continue to give you discounts when he's no longer training for his salon. Good luck!
ok this may be long. I was talking to a pregnant friend of mine today. She said she had had back trouble years ago and told her midwife. Her midwife then referred her to an anesthesiologist to make sure that she was ok to have an epidural. She's not planning on having one. My friend said the anesthesiologist was saying how happy he is when pregnant women who have had back problems get checked out so that they know for sure at the time that there would be no complications because sometimes getting info from a woman in labor is extremely difficult.
I had a botched kidney biopsy years ago. I still have numbness and tingling from the nerve damage. Kidney biopsies aren't in your spine. My medical records for that are not here, obviously, nor could they be easily received here. Should I mention it to my midwife? I'm not planning on having an epidural, but, you never know with c sections and stuff. Also, mentioning some stuff to my midwife I only know the english words for is REALLY difficult. It took 10 minutes to explain pertussis and get the Icelandic word for it. (ok, not an excuse, just a small vent.)
ETA extra word
I would say something only because they can never have too much info.

Haha when do I think I will deliver?
When the sun rises in the west and sets in the east. When the seas go dry and mountains blow in the wind like leave.
Cool. I'm delivering when venus comes in to mercury on a retrograde (no idea what that means) and when the north star twinkles above my head.
DH wants a man bag diaper bag. I was going to get a Vera Bradley baby back pack. It seems like a waste to get 2. I kind of want to just get a black back pack. Do any of the STM's have any ideas or diaper bags that you just loved with your first!?
I LOVED having a backpack style diaper bag and am using the same for this baby. You have enough stuff to carry. Having it on your back instead is way easier IMO.

I'm totally in the market for a back pack style bag as well! I carry a backpack to work now and its just SO much easier on my back than a purse.
So sick of sleeping on my sides. My shoulders and hips kill in the morning. There's not enough pillows in the world to help.
Same here. Can't sleep on my belly, too much pressure. And I go numb and lightheaded after just minutes on my back. Sides are the only option and it hurts so bad! Blah!

Same with me! It's to the point that I don't even try to go back to sleep because it's just uncomfortable. I'm tempted to buy one of those inflatable pads with the hole in it so I can lay on my belly for a little while.

With any kind of service (especially if you got it free or for a deal), always always err on the side of tipping!
I want to have a "girls day" with DD today since DH will be in the field until late tonight. The only movies that are out are some Nut Job movie and a Lego movie. Both of which sound completely lame. I was thinking of taking her to get mani/pedi for the first time in a salon (she loves getting her nails painted) and get some frozen yogurt together. Any other ideas on what we could do?
DH was in Nashville last night so I was really excited about sleeping in the middle of the bed with ALL THE PILLOWS but I still woke up every hour, for every reason you could think of. And nowadays I'm starving to death at 4am but I refuse to get up that early so I stay in bed and whimper.
My dog was up pacing all night and crying to go outside. I'd let her out and 10 mins later she would be barking to be let back in. Then the pacing would start again. This went on until I got beyond frustrated and put her in her cage at 3am. And my toddler woke up at 7am. 4 hours of sleep, today is going to be amazing!

Depending on where you live and what kind of day it is, something outdoors is always nice! Like the zoo or something if there's one nearby. But I also have to say that The Lego Movie isn't lame at all. It's pretty funny and has a sweet message at the end. Not sure how old your daughter is, but I'd recommend it more for ages 6 and up.

Do you have any pottery painting places, maybe she could paint a piggy bank for herself or the baby!?
My going to work until next Friday is a complete courtesy and then they can all go screw themselves especially after the email they sent at 458 yesterday. I've been checked out for the past month anyway but this next week and a half will be torture
I'm jealous that you only have a little over a week left and get to leave before baby. I've had to deal with the same person the past two mornings, and she's a stupid, stubborn bitch that gets my blood pressure up. I want to be on leave now.
I saw a group of women that are coming to my baby shower last night and they said "Oh I got your present today!!!" so I couldn't help but look at my registry. I know I picked the stuff, so obviously I love it, but OMG IM SO EXCITED! People are so generous and I am so happy to get the stuff I registered for!
Edit: I apologize if this sounds snobby or gift grabby. People are just so nice and I can't get over it!
Why do my boobs look so good? Then I peed on a stick...
I got a disc with our images from our maternity photo session....I just realized I don't have a disc drive on my laptop (it's an ultrabook that is really just made to be super portable). Funny that I thought I would never need one! Do they make "plug in" ones?
ETA: I'm sure I'll need a disc drive again, I wouldn't buy something to use just once. Just making sure you all know I'm not crazy.
We had this problem. One solution is to find someone who does have one and transfer them to a USB stick. Maybe even the people who did the photo session would help you out with this?
I keep looking at my newsfeed and marveling at how many of my Facebook friends are having a baby in April... and then I realize most of those friends are from RTT!!
Good morning ladies! I"m actually in a crap mood today and I know I"m going to cry. It's just a matter of when. Wish me luck that it's not in a meeting with the director of our department! Have a good one!
Today started off on the wrong foot. Totally pulled the worst parent award this morning and lost my patience with DD while getting her ready for school.
I'm totally done with these mood swings. I know everyone around me is too and my poor DH having to deal with it...why can't I just pull myself together?
Positive note: I get to see my best friend on Saturday. Haven't seen her (and her family) in 3 years!

@TallaB I swear, if you don't go to Potbelly for lunch instead of JJ's, we can't be LBs anymore.
Augh Potbelly is SO gross! I eat tuna cold and they warme it up, totally ruined my sandwich and my mood that day.
ETA: please still love me
Then order something ELSE. :-w I still love you. It honestly took me a couple sandwiches at PB to fall in love with it.
Pick something for me to order! It's hard for me to branch out! Nothing besides tuna sounded good. I think being pregnant has made me extra careful because I don't want to hate the food I order and then ugly cry all the way home!

Do you have a Build-A-Bear near? I'm taking DD soon to make LO's first stuffed animal that she can give in the hospital.
Can you tell I'm a FTM?? I KNEW there was something out there more creative than going to the zoo, but I also knew I didn't know what that might be. :P I second that idea or @Mamamonzo's. Both are super cute ideas!

Order the Wreck sandwich - it has ham, turkey, roast beef, salami and swiss cheese (I also add mushrooms). Put whatever toppings on it you like - you can't really get this sandwich wrong. Keep in mind their mustard is brown deli mustard, not yellow. And the hot peppers are pretty spicy, so I get them on the side.
I like the Mediterranean (grilled peppers, hummus, feta, onions, hot peppers, and spinach) you can also add chicken but I've never tried it that way.
