I just realized it will be cheap asparagus season soon. Yay!
Yummm. Roasted asparagus with parm cheese is what dreams are made of.
Sauteed with butter and garlic nom nom nom.
Last spring my friend and I did duck confit risotto with fresh asparagus. I have never tasted anything more divine.
I love risotto with asparagus! I make mine with asparagus and shrimp or asparagus and mushrooms. So delicious.
@KendraColeslaw I'm waiting to hear how YH's appointment went. So many good vibes being sent your way!
Today I am 35/35 and only have 4 weeks left of work. Woo hoo! As I'm tacking up the school lunch menu on my bulletin board I see my last day of work and I'm so excited. Well, I am assuming baby doesn't make me come back after spring break.

Just read through the new birth stories on M14. I'm totally freaked out that a LOT of the women had their babies at 37ish weeks. That would give me less than 4 weeks if that happens to me. Ahhhhh!
So glad other people's farts smell just as bad as mine. I started taking Prilosec two days ago and I want to leave the room when I fart. I was beginning to think it was something I was doing....at least I'm not as strange as I thought.

I was JUST talking about this with the DH this morning. I said, you know, our last two came at 36 weeks, if that happens again, we're looking at less than 4 weeks. :-?
Then I realized not only will I no longer be pregnant...but fuck, we're bringing home a baby and I started flipping out about having 4 kids. OMG. I'm going to have 4(!!!) kids.
Apparently my dad and stepmom think we are lying about not knowing the gender of our baby.
So there's that.
Even if you did know the sex, it's none of your business if you wouldn't want to share. People who give others a hard time about not finding out the sex or not sharing are ridiculous. It's not like they won't find out when the baby is born.

My mom lost her shit on me Sunday when she suggested that people be allowed to wear their shoes in my house during the baby shower. She said there wouldn't be enough space at the front door for everyone's boots and shoes, and that to make things easier they should just keep them on. (There is more than enough room. And in Canada we don't keep our shoes on in the house, ever.)
I politely declined, seeing as it's snowy and slushy out and the walkway and sidewalk are covered in salt. I have dark hardwood floors and a shag area rug that I'd prefer to keep clean...and she went apeshit! 'YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO BE DIFFICULT!' turned into a 20 minute fight that spiraled into 15 other 'issues' she decided to bring up then and there.
I invited her over to talk the next day and she refused. She hasn't spoken to me in 4 days now...I'm exasperated. She's clearly going through some kind of turmoil in her life, and has stated before she needs therapy. I guess in the meantime I'm her punching bag?
The shower is in a few days, I'm feeling guilty for some reason and I'm angry at the same time. I swear on my life I will never put my crazy on my child. (
((Hugs)) I'm sorry D! But you are right she probably has some other things going on and she's taking it out on you which isn't right but at least you know it's not directed at you and the actual issue. I hope she can come to grips and realize that you are in need of her right now.

Does anybody else NOT have a name picked out yet? There are 2 names we both really love, but I don't think either sounds great with our last name. Trying to decide if I'm overthinking it and we should just use one, or if we need to come up with a different name altogether.
ETA: Holy TL;DR response! Sorry!
@fireflygirl12 Unless the first name rhymes with your last name (looking at you, Julia Gulia) or combines to form Voltron (looking at you, North West) you might be overthinking it! In my opinion, you have to absolutely love the first name, then you can make the rest fall into place. I wouldn't let a name I wasn't quite so crazy about take priority over one I truly loved just because of last name conflicts, sibling name conflicts, initialing conflicts, etc. Not that I wouldn't consider those things, but my priority would be truly loving the first name.
I like your name options you've mentioned for #2 in the past. I think the FNs and MNs go together well and I think they fit well with your DS1's name. Without knowing your last name, my guess is that you are overthinking the conflict because it's so close to go time and the pressure is on.

On Tuesday I got sent a text that was supposed to go to my mom, but got sent to me instead.
My baby shower was supposed to be this past Saturday, but was obviously cancelled because of the funeral and I really was ok with not re-scheduling it, I even went with my Mom to return the door prizes and decorations.
But, some friends of mine have decided to throw me a surprise shower at church tonight. There is already a women's night dinner scheduled to "throw me off." and without that text, I would have been really surprised.
I have been so excited all day, definitely in the mood for some happiness!! I'm also working on my surprised face

I cringe when people don't take their shoes off! Especially with a baby coming soon who will be all over the floor! I'm sorry she put you through all of that!

No name. Some options though :-) We're just taking these options to the hospital and deciding when we seen him.

Palm ---> face. Tell them it's a boy and his name is Jack Daniel Doggystyle Lastname in honor of the night he was conceived. That'll teach them not to keep prying.

@dani+California shoes in the house gross me out too. Our family and friends know to take them off when they come over. I make an exception for parties or occasions when people might be dressed up. I know I would hate to show up and someone's house in heels and a dress and then have to walk around looking all stumpy. Hopefully your close friends and family will do it out of habit and cleanup won't be too bad.
Honestly that's not a thing here. No one keeps their shoes on in their house or other people's. I used to see it on American television and think it was funny, assuming the actors just did that because it was TV. Then I went to the states and realized people actually DO keep their shoes on...totally foreign to me! So it would actually be extra weird for us to be like 'no no, keep them on!' when people arrived.
It all depends on where you live! Here, shoes stay on. In AK, shoes come off. In fact, a lot of people would bring slippers or something with them when going to someone else's house in AK.
Here the shoe this is hit or miss. When we had carpet at my mom's house no one questioned taking their shoes off at the door, with my hardwood on the other hand, I'm constantly reminding guest to please take their shoes off. Just because it is "easier to clean" doesn't mean I want to.

1) I finally made use of the rest of that half bushel of chiles that I bought back in September and froze, and currently have a giant batch of pork green chile simmering in my crockpot. My house smells INCREDIBLE and I can't wait for it to be done so I can have a small bowl with some cheese and a tortilla.
2) I bought DS the Jake and the Neverland Pirates music CD for Christmas, and loaded the songs onto his LeapPad. He's listening to it right now, pretending to jam out on guitar like he's part of the band (we gave him our old PS2 Guitar Hero guitar that has been rendered useless), and trying to sing the songs...and he's getting better at getting the lyrics and the rhythm/timing of the song right. It A) makes me proud as a musician (and someone from a musical family) that my musical genes were passed on and are apparently blossoming in him, and B.) is the cutest effing thing I've ever seen/heard in the history of ever. LOVE THIS KID!
As a Canadian living in America - I looooove the keeping shoes on in the house! When I go home to Canada, my shoes come off at the door, otherwise it would just be rude. But, here in Arizona (and when I lived in CA) no one takes their shoes off. I'll wear my shoes all day long around the house. We have hard tile floors, and its just more comfortable. Plus, we just leave the doors wide open when the weather is beautiful like it is now, and come and go in and out constantly...maybe its the fact it never rains but, it really doesn't track dirt all over the place. Or, maybe everything is just so dusty from the dirt anyways that I don't notice.
Crap my DH just called and said he's on his way home. He's been gone all week and didn't know if he'd be home tonight or tomorrow night. I had a long list of things to do and I've done...none of it!!
Last night, my husband told me my farts smell like "the putrid stench of Death itself." I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, because he's right: my pregnancy farts reek.
My mom lost her shit on me Sunday when she suggested that people be allowed to wear their shoes in my house during the baby shower. Ugh... Yeah I'm right there with you on the "please don't let me become this LO's crazy mother" bandwagon. I am seriously starting to consider that my mom may be more than just a pain and eccentric. Like, she could be borderline schizophrenic, and just never addressed.
Last weekend someone was like "do you REALLY not know??"
Um. No. I REALLY don't know. 0_o
Also, we haven't discussed names either. I mentioned my TOP girl name, that I'm obsessed with, over the weekend and DH acted like I was trying to choose Princess Consuela Bananahammock. So yea. It might be an interesting discussion that we CLEARLY need to get moving on.
I read this to DH, and now he keeps walking around the house saying "noo, we need more lemon pledge..."
Bonus points to you all for getting the reference!
So we've got Disney Junior on in the background, and Little Einsteins is on. While I appreciate the fact that the show focuses on art and music (in fact, I LOVE that about it), is it too much to ask to have the characters sing on key and to the beat of the music instead of sounding tone deaf & rhythm-less? It seriously makes me cringe every. single. time. they (Annie in particular!) sing their little "songs" to the tune of whatever classical piece they're featuring because it's so far off.

We're down to two names also & can't decide! Might have to meet him first before making a final decision...
Smuggled our cat into the apt and spilled cat nip on the carpet.
At the last apartment DH had before moving to Michigan to live with me we totally smuggled our two cats in for the duration of our tenancy. No regrets!

So uncomfortable after work today. Kiddo won't quit digging his feet into my left side, which is incredibly stabby and mean. Took a nap and woke up to this poopy conundrum:
Holy shit I had a lot of catching up to do after work! And to think it's only a six hour shift, imagine if I had a twelve hour day!
