So I registered for pampers and got a lot and got a lot of Huggies from baby shower, should I try to exchange Huggies or not?
Well you never know what'll fit baby best until you try them out. We tried Huggies & Target brand on DS, but he had a Pampers butt all the way. At the same time, other kids from my old BMB only worked in Huggies, and others still could use other brands like Luvs or generic brands from Sams/Costco. So it just depends on the baby. I'd exchange one box at least for some Pampers, just until you know what fits your baby best.
As long as you've only used a couple (I believe less than ⅓ of the package) of diapers out of a pack, most stores will allow you to exchange them for the brand you want. I did that at Target with the Huggies we tried. So don't think if you try a brand and it doesn't work that you're stuck with it til it's empty.
And IDK about your hospital, but mine uses Pampers as standard issue, so if yours does, you'll have the opportunity to try the brand out for free.
So I've been hiding out in the nursery because I can't sleep and I don't want to wake my bf. I can hear his snoring from in here so I figured 'what the hell? I might as well sleep in here (we never took out the guest bed)' but then I went to use our bathroom and I miss him. I know it's as simple as going back to our bed but that fucking snoring man. FWP
our situation is a bit reversed. my husband lost his job recently and he wasn't making enough to justify him working to begin with. it would have all gone to day care. however my income is BARELY enough to cover everything. we need espacially after baby gets here and we add insurance ($200 a month). so we need to think of some way for DH to generate income from home. (because me getting a raise in my current position is impossible and I don't qualify for the next position up yet. ) so if anyone has any ideas.... we'd be happy to hear them
I only mobile bump, so I could be missing info. I'm not sure what area you live in so the type of odd jobs that your SO can do would depend on the area and his skills. Maybe he could drive elderly people to their appointments or check on them and do minor house repairs/chores. Lawn work. After school care for other kids in your area. Maybe his hobby or interest could make money? I know how to sew and I've used this to make extra money fixing clothes for people. I didn't buy ads, just made cards and networked/ used word of mouth. It's too late for this year but flower shops like to hire people for a couple of weeks around Valentine's Day. If there is a college nearby usually there are short term jobs moving in students.
Edit: grading standardized tests/essays. Usually it's from home too.
@jbug88 the mint ones don't leave as bad of an aftertaste.
Do the mint ones have the chalky texture? I prefer the texture of the smoothie ones. First world problem, I know.
I recently switched from the regular tums to the smoothies and they are soo much better! But yeah, waking up with the taste in my mouth is still gross.

Hi mommas! I am all caught up and wanted to let you know I am thinking about all of you. I wish I could comment on everyone's posts but once I am done working (Thursday) I will be better and at a computer more! Xoxoxo
So I guess count me in on the "financial panic" of the thread today. As you all have probably seen by now, I finally got a job! Hooray! And while it's a stupid call center position that is also a $23k paycut, something is better than nothing, since my unemployment benefits ran out 2 weeks ago.
Well, I was supposed to start on 2/24 for an 8 week training class (Comcast doesn't fuck around with their reps - they make sure you know everydamnthing), knowing full well that I would've gone out to have this baby smack in the middle of it (plus have to miss time for OB appts).
To be on the safe side and not surprise them on day one (as well as potentially jeopardize my ability to keep the job), I called the recruiter to remind her that I am currently in a family way, and what should we do about it? After consulting w/the HR director, it was decided that rather than set myself up for failure by missing too much of the training, we're just going to go ahead and put me into a later training class that starts well after Little Miss gets here.
So hooray, I still have a job, right?! Sure. But this adjustment means that we are now going to have to find a way to pay $1800 worth of bills and food on a $1350 paycheck, for 2 months. Our rent alone is $1225. DH needs the rest of the money to buy gas to get back and forth to work for the month. *sigh* IDK what we're going to do.
On the bright side, DH is currently looking for a better job too, so this gives him more opportunity to schedule interviews without my new work schedule interfering. It also gives me additional time to find a more ideal job myself (ideal pay, flexible hours), and just hang onto this one as a backup.
For whoever asked earlier: child care costs are so high (especially infant care) because of the high staff to child ratio by age (in my state it's 1:4 for infants) and because in a licensed facility, the state makes you jump through 57942278 zillion hoops to maintain your license for any age, which costs a lot of money. Plus, the license itself costs a good chunk too. Child care is NOT a huge moneymaker, and is truly a labor of love to run, and many centers (both licensed and home care) don't survive through their first few years.

April 14 August Siggy Challenge- "This time last year.."
Spent most of the night in L&D. I was having really painful contractions. They gave me the shot to stop them and thank heavens it worked. We were really worried. I have never had that painful of contractions when not in labour. Thank heavens they got them to stop. I do not like the side effects of the shot though. The good with the bad....I will take it over delivering prematurely.
I've officially joined the cankle crew. No wonder my socks have felt tight the last week or so. @-) Also have swelling on the tops of my feet down by my toes, especially on my right foot. My toes are a little swelled, but mostly normal-looking, at least. *sigh* Hands and face both look normal, so not too worried about Pre-E, though I will definitely mention this to my OB at my next appointment, unless it seems to be getting ridiculously bad as time goes on.

Did someone force feed me a shot if espresso without ny knowledge? It is 2:30 a.m. and I feel completely wide awake. Not only that, my Zantac and tums regimen is not touching the acid threatening to eject from my throat. Tomorrow is not going to be a fun day.

@LoriMc12 Are we sharing a body now? How'd you write exactly what I was thinking?

Would headphones and some calm music work? For me that always helped when staying overnight in hospitals. It just kind of blocks out the world. Plug something in and just close your eyes, but, don't 'try' to sleep. That's my usual plan and half the time I fall asleep by the 3rd or 4th song :-) (or piece, depending on which genre i went for.)
Ughhh last night sucked. DH and I have slept in separate beds since mid November, however last night DS spilled a drink in DH bed so DH couldn't sleep in there because the sheets were still getting washed. So he came in slept in our room last night. On top of that, I officially have a cold again. Between trying to get comfortable, trying not to wake my DH and not being able to breathe, it is going to be a long long day.
Here's to spending the next 9 hours at work making an effort to not be livid pissed at my husband while I am on my feet on concrete floors with the most achey hips ever. Oh and be nice to people while I'm at it, and then choose to be nice to him when he gets home. It's gonna be a long effing day.
@lia619 do you know exactly what part you need? I have a friend that found out specifically what part he needed, then bought it on Amazon and had someone install it - savedf a lot of $$ that way since he wasn't paying contractor markup.

And @MrsCrCalli, you totally sound like Robin Sparkles when she drinks absinthe. Admit it: you're high.
