Question: maybe TMI but spotting after a cervix check is normal right? Everything looked great apparently, but a few hours later and I've been having a little reddish brown spotting. They told me it might happen, especially since this was my first appt and they did both a finger internal exam and used a speculum. Ugh it just feels so tender still. :-/
Like the others said, common and normal, although nerve-racking. Usually goes away within 24 hours.

  • They normally start it around then, but since this was my first visit with the new clinic they did one. It appears to have stopped, just freaked me out a little! Thanks gals :)

I am here to live out loud!
  • Oh yea. And I'm craving buttermilk biscuits so guess what I'm whipping up with breakfast in the morning.
  • @celticlullaby - I had eggs with cheese this morning before my test at 1:20pm. I had such a late morning that I assumed having a muffin and coffee with sugar within an hour or two before the test would HAVE to sway it. My clinic told me to not eat anything with added sugar in it a few hours before the test, which takes out nearly everything I like to eat for breakfast.

Plus, with my fear of blood draws, I think eating anything more would have just made me nauseous. The protein from the eggs were enough to keep me full and not have a carb crash.
  • My house is freezing! I just cranked up te heat. Why or why can't the weather make up its mind? 60 one day 25 the next

Yay!! My DH just agreed to go to a cloth diapering 101 class on Sunday at a local baby store. He has been so anti cloth diapering, the washing them in our washer freaks him out. However tonight I was telling him how our son is getting a rash yet again from his diapers..the poor kid has the most sensitive skin, and I mentioned how cloth diapers are supposed to be a lot better for sensitive skin and he said ok lets do it then. I am just happy that we are going to get informed, I don't know which way we will go but I want to know all I can.

This was exactly my DH we are doing a class and he is so excited about it. Once I took him shopping and showed him our options he is so pumped!!

  • I feel a little ungrateful, but try as I may, I cannot get myself to love the free hand me down recliner from my inlaws. It's just not comfortable. Totally dreading late night feedings in it, but we don't have $400 to spend on the chair I liked a lot. Booooooooo. Chair! Be comfy!!!

YAY! I would maybe look into doing some CD's that are made from all natural fibers. It seems like babies who have sensitive skin tend to react more with the synthetic ones.
  • GTT in the morning - should I not be eating sugar and dessert tonight to increase chances of passing? I want some chocolate so badly, but I feel like I shouldn't...and then I feel like an idiot thinking I'm going to game a medical test skipping dessert one night! I mean I know I'm not going to fake out the test if I actually have GD, but does eating my normal crap make a false positive more likely or anything like that? Or can I eat this Reese egg with no worries?
I drastically cut back on sugar in general about a month ago, but with my first pregnancy my test was late afternoon and I literally ate an entire movie theater sized box of candy throughout the day without even thinking about how it might affect the results. I asked my OB and she said that it shouldn't have any impact. I passed without any issues.

Has anyone heard of the book "12 hours by 12 weeks"? My SIL said she bought it for us because she swears by it. It's supposed to be a book about your kid sleeping well. Eta: I read a quick review on the book and it's basically setting a strict eating/sleeping schedule for your baby. However, I'm BF so I'm not sure how they expect me to go 12 hours at night without feeding. Kind of stupid if you ask me. I'll admit, her kid does sleep a lot but strict schedules are not for me. I feed on demand especially when they're that little.
I haven't read the book, but I also go with the feeding on demand for newborns. With DS1 I would usually cluster feed at night (like every 1-1.5 hours for 3 feedings) and then DH would give him a pumped bottle before his "bedtime" so we knew that he was getting enough. He started sleeping 5-6 hours around 6 weeks and then 12 hours around 2 months, He's 16 months now and still an amazing sleeper.

We also aren't much into scheduling, other than we would do a bedtime routine (read a book, change into PJ's, turn lights down while giving bottle) and move him into our room instead of with us in the living room around the same time every night.

I'm not sure that any of what we did helped him sleep through the night any faster though. Some kids just do it and others don't.

So apparently baby did not like the cupcakes! I fell asleep on the couch and just woke up and threw up all over myself. Being pregnant is just awesome sometimes! :-S

  • Question-and I'm being serious here...isn't this a bad idea? Picture on my FB of a girl's twins 'sleeping in their own room for the first time tonight'. I didn't think blankets were recommended...especially not ones that cover their face? I blacked them out just in case you're wondering. Heh

    Absolutely not ok!!!

We used blankets when ds1 was swaddled and couldn't move at all, but definitely not by his mouth.
  • OK, those chicken nachos DH made for dinner sure were fantastic, but boy am I paying for it now! I have never liked jalapenos ever in my entire life, what makes me think that me being pregnant and wanting to eat them will save them from wreaking complete HAVOC on my digestive system! Oy Vey! Help me Jeebus!

  • Maybe kind of a silly question, but I'm going to ask it anyway: I'm desperately craving fried eggs, and I normally have them over-easy since anything more cooked than that is utterly disgusting to me.  Think that's safe to eat?  I'm paranoid the temperature of the liquidy yolk won't get high enough to kill any bacteria that may be lurking in there.  :-S

  • If I wasn't eating them every day, I'd still have them over easy. But then, I also eat cold cut sandwiches and have had real, raw sushi twice this pregnancy....

My kid is an awesome sleeper and we fed on demand until one night I just, didn't feed him and sleep trained at 7.5 months. I know it's totally normal for EBF babies to be up several times a night for most of the first year, but I just couldn't deal with it anymore. I also followed the "never wake a sleeping baby rule", and still do for the most part at 22 months.

Meanwhile, my GF EBF her son and he was sleeping 8 hours overnight by like 3 weeks. Which was insane to me, but just further proof that every baby is different.

Do what you want. I think strict schedules are crazy and much prefer to follow LO's cues. He's happier, I'm happier, life is good. Just my $0.02
Oh I completely agree. I know she means well because her DD sleeps like 12 or more hours a night but she's also FF. I never went by a schedule and my DD sleeps just fine. 11-12 hours a night and 1-2 naps a day (when she was a baby). She's 3 and still takes a daily nap.
