I hate it!!!! I wish my groceries could magically appear in my fridge and pantry. I spent three hours shopping yesterday. And I usually have to hit up like two to three stores

Another thing that has been bumming me out is when I'm going to finish school. I don't regret leaving because I was miserable and completely unhappy, however now I'm wondering if I'm ever going to be able to finish. Luckily DD starts pre-k this year so hopefully that will buy me some time to go to school during the day and I'll only have to put one baby in daycare during the time but DH is supposed to deploy in about a year so I'm seriously wondering how I'm going to manage two kids by myself and nursing school at the same time. I know a lot of women do it but it's still a little discouraging.

Okay. No more pity party from me! Just wanted to let that out.
Don't you have any help you can tap on-base?? Other wives that can watch LO for an hour or two while you take a class? I was an Army wife once for a grand total of 9 months and we never had kids so I really have no idea what's available....

    Starbucks Mug Update:

Still being held hostage. Secretary (who unloads the dishwasher) is officially on the case. She sighed and told me this happens a LOT here and she just can't understand why grown men would steal mugs. Will report as news is received.

Im a "label maker nerd" and usually print labels for everything but since the labels can easily be taken off you needa make sure to sharpie your name to the bottom of your mug as soon as you find it. Or just to be a bitch, you should get it personalized at a print shop so anyone drinking from a mug with your name on it can look like an idiot!

To catch up: Someone has stolen my 1/2 eaten burger at work before, they left my baked potato....
When I was in the hospital after having DS, that first day (he was born at 5am and we'd been up all night with labor and delivery) was so crazy hectic that we didnt get a chance to eat, so DH ordered a pizza and a dozen hot wings and had it delivered to the hospital at like 10:30pm...but was so exhausted that he only ate two slices and maybe 2 wings, and put the rest in the fridge in the little community kitchen/break room thing. He went to grab the leftovers for lunch the next day, only to discover that someone had eaten all of the pizza, and all but ONE hot wing. Who the fuck leaves a single wing?! And left the (well labeled!!) boxes in the fridge for us to find. What the actual fuck!! Needless to say, we won't be leaving anything in that fridge again this time around.

I'm not level headed enough to deal with some shit like that. I think the staff would feel compelled to replace my food after the bitch fit I'd throw

Egh, we have community fridges in our family rooms at the hospital - and its a 'use at your own risk' type deal. The staff have nothing to do with it. We don't control what goes in or what comes out...so, I certainty wouldn't be willing to replace anyones food! I can't help that people are scummy. As a side note - people steal shit from the hospital all the time - video games, toys, PLAYSTATIONS, thermometers, scales, cell phones....(i'm talking patients, not staff...though, it could be both)the general population is horrible!!!

ETA - I guess you may get a cafeteria voucher if you yell at me enough.

Fruit and cheese go well together...eat the gouda on a triscuit (or whatever similar cracker you have) with the prunes. Best of both worlds!

ETA: gouda and edam were the only cheeses I would eat as a kid; my Oma would bring it with her from Holland. They're still my absolute favorite, and still the only cheeses that I can eat by themselves without a cracker or fruit or anything, and enjoy.

  • That's the shitty thing about "at your risk" items. You're right Talla. It's too bad the patients don't appreciate that your hospital is making it nice for them so they resort to stealing the amenities. They'd appreciate the awesome shit if they had to deliver at my hospital

I should also add that really, its JCAHO's fault! Because we used to put things in the locked pantry with labels and then get them for families on request. But, JCAHO says we had to get families their own fridge so we didn't put their dirty food in with our clean...milk containers and popsicles!

Someone at work stole my Starbucks mug... Again. This is the third time at this job I have left it abandoned for less than two hours and someone swiped it. Last time, it took me a month of checking the dirty dishes to get it back. It's plain white with the Starbucks logo in small, black font--nothing fancy, but I've had it since my very first post-college job.

I got my blueberry muffin and was all excited to have it with coffee, then it was gone. Poor little mug :(

What the hell?! Find out who this mug thief is and raise hell!

Ask me what happened sometime when someone was stealing my food from the work fridge. I will give you some pointers if you'd like ;).

Its aged dutch gouda that I have!!! Oh man that stuff is good!!! I'm not a big fruit and cheese person. I'm hoping tomorrow the prunes will work and then I'm going straight for the cheese!!!

Shamefully admitting my criminal past here...when I was in elementary school, 2nd grade to be exact, I would go out late for morning recess on occasion so I could go through other kids' lunch boxes in the coat room to find a few treats.  I'd stuff the treats in my mouth (usually little debbie cakes) then run out to recess all innocent.  I was eventually busted then cried with the shame of upsetting my parents and teacher.  Never did it again.  Coming from a former food thief, I still can't understand how grown-ass adults feel justified in taking other people's food from work fridges. Hope your mug shows up soon Stace!

This totally made me laugh out loud. I remember in kg I caught a boy stealing my snacks. I was hysterical. That's one more thing that makes me self evaluate and realize that my bf is totally right when he calls me a drama queen.
  • I used to take one or two pieces of candy from the bins at the grocery store. I think others must have been doing it too because I haven't seen the pay by weight candy in tom thumb for ages.

  • I eat the delicious chili (with sour cream and a butt load of cheese, obv).
3 hours later, I start to feel like shit.
    5 hours later I'm miserable.

And yet for the 3rd day in a row, I had chili for lunch. Good thing that's the last of it in the fridge. But man is that shit delicious.

Sometimes sacrifices just have to be made
